Problems using the Workgroup Manager(10.4.4.)
I am currently using and OS X 10.2 server and have been using version 1.2 of the Workgroup Manager to remotely modify FTP users on the 10.2 server. I have recently updated to version 10.4.4 on a separate workstation, and I am having trouble using the newer version of the WGM (Workgroup Manager). The problem starts after I have created the FTP folder on the server, and linked the folder with a new FTP user, all that works just fine. I get stone walled when I go to changing the read/write privileges of the newly created user. I log into the 10.2 server through either WGM as a user that has been set as an “admin” user, and with WGM version 1.2 these permissions works perfectly fine. With WGM 10.4.4 I do not have sufficient privileges to modify ANY those setting, or even look at the dialog boxs. The only solution I have been able to find thus far is to log in to the 10.2 server with WGM 10.4.4 as the supper-user of the 10.2 server. That has been the only way I can make the WGM 10.4.4 work. Dose any one out in forum land have any ideas on how I can remedy this situation? The solution I see is to make another user that has similar privileges as the super-user (but please give me other ideas if anyone has them).
G4s Mac OS X (10.2.x) OSX 10.2 Server
iMac, G4s, G5s Mac OS X (10.4.10) we have a lot off macs, so ask about a specific one
Never use WGM from a different OS X server version than what you have on your server - they are incompatible.
Use ARD/VNC (maybe over VPN) instead if you can't use/install the correct WGM on the remote admin machine.
And/or use SSH (maybe over VPN) and CLI/Terminal.

Problem using the copy managent in LIS info structures
We want create a copy managements program to consolidate registers fromone version to another in a LIS info estructure.
But we need that a specific key-figure (is a fist date) is not be
consolidate, but that it is conserved the oldest date.
Is there a way to know the previous copied registers in the program to
determine which value to conserve?.
I can't read the original version because some characteristics are redeterminated. And the target version aren't write yet.
thanks

How do I get system users/groups to appear in the Workgroup Manager list?
When I open the Workgroup Manager and select the Users tab, it only shows users set up in the Workgroup Manager -- same when I browse Groups. But, I also have a couple system users/groups set up not in the workgroup manager, but through the OS's System Preference interface for Users.
Is there a way to automatically have System users appear in the Workgroup list?
I also can't add users to System groups, since the groups also won't appear in the Workgroup Manager (like adding a user to the group Admin or Staff -- default system groups).
I'd just like the option to "show System users and groups" somewhere.
Thanks.
PatrickHi
If I understand your post correctly then launch WorkGroup Manager and select Preferences from the WorkGroup Manager Menu. Enable the Show "All Records" tab and inspector option and click OK. In the Users/Groups/Computer tab you should now see the addition of another icon - it looks like a bullseye. Select this and under the filter field selecting 'AccessControls' will show you a long list. Scroll down and select Users. Now go back to the Users tab and you should see all users visible and invisible. You’ll see the same thing for Groups.
You will see different Users and Groups depending which directory node you are in. In the LDAP node you should only see Directory and System Administrator as well as VPN MPPE Key Access User in addition to any user you have created within that node. In the local Net Info node you should see users such as Amavisd User, Clamav User, Cyrus IMAP User etc. You’ll also see UIDs and GUIDs amongst a wealth of other information if you select a user or group and select the Inspector tab.
You can modify record attribute and values as well as adding your own. You can even use WGM in the same way you would use Net Info Manager locally if you wish.

Problem using the FederatedSearch / Result set empty
Hello,<br>
<br>
I've the following problem using the FederatedSearch:<br>
In my KM-Folder I've two documents.<br>
I created a simple search AbstractPortalComponent to search in the special KM-Folder.<br>
If the query is "*" I will get the right number of documents.<br>
But If I will access them the iterator is empty...<br>
Please see the code below:<br>
<br>
Best regards<br>
Klaus<br>
<br>
<br>
IIndexService indexService = (IIndexService) ResourceFactory.getInstance().getServiceFactory().getService(IServiceTypesConst.INDEX_SERVICE);<br>
<br>
SearchQueryListBuilder sqb = new SearchQueryListBuilder();<br>
<br>
sqb.setSearchTerm(query);<br>
IQueryEntryList qel = sqb.buildSearchQueryList();<br>
RidList ridList = new RidList(); <br>
ridList.add(RID.getRID(OR_KM_ROOT_PATH + "/" + OR_KM_CURRENT_PATH));<br>
ridList.add(RID.getRID(OR_KM_ROOT_PATH + "/" + OR_KM_ARCHIVE_PATH));<br>
IResourceContext resourceContext = new ResourceContext(user);<br>
IFederatedSearch federatedSearch = (IFederatedSearch) indexService.getObjectInstance(IWcmIndexConst.FEDERATED_SEARCH_INSTANCE);<br>
IFederatedSearch search = (IFederatedSearch) indexService.getObjectInstance(IWcmIndexConst.FEDERATED_SEARCH_INSTANCE);<br>
ISearchSession session = federatedSearch.searchWithSession(qel, ridList, resourceContext, null, null);<br>
response.write("-"+session.getTotalNumberResultKeys()); ### writes 2-ok-<br>
response.write("- "+session.getNumberResultKeys()); ### writes 2-ok-<br>
ISearchResultList sresults = session.getSearchResults(1,session.getTotalNumberResultKeys());<br>
<br>
ISearchResultListIterator iter = sresults.listIterator();<br>
response.write("> "iter.hasNext()"<br>"); ### writes "false"!???
<br>
while (iter.hasNext())<br>
{<br>
...<br>
}<br>The plan is to be running with more than just two sites (though at the moment I am testing with only two).
What happens is a client comes on-line and requests a list of sites from a router. It then picks one of the sites from the list and adds that as a replication site in the repmgr.
It then goes about opening up the database and doing some other bookeeping. Finally we start the replication manager and once the NEWMASTER event is recieved a sync is done.
So while this DELAYCLIENT/rep_sync is a bit overkill for the two-site test I am doing now, the design I am working towards will be a multi-site setup. -
Using the Security Manager to restrict access to a single package
After reading up on the Security Manager, the package.access property and the use of the [accessClassInPackage RuntimePermission|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/security/permissions.html#RuntimePermission] , it seemed to me that it would possible to set up the following: I have a security-sensitive code base packaged in a jar, and I want to make sure that only one client code base that I specify is permitted to access it. The idea here is to prevent malicious code from executing anything in the sensitive code base; the sensitive code is only accessible to one client that I name in a security policy file. Perhaps rather foolishly, I advised a client to consider this before testing out a sample myself, because much to my surprise, it appears to me that it isn't possible to get the Security Manager to do this at all. Am I missing something? I'm a bit startled by this conclusion -- it seems like such an obvious use for the Security Manager, I'm hard-pressed to be believe that it can't be done, and more inclined to suspect that I'm going about it wrong.
Here's what I thought I could do: set up the package.access property so that it denies access to any package; then in the policy file, grant the RuntimePermission/accessClassInPackage to the client code base that is permitted to access the sensitive code.
Of course, you wouldn't want the package.access property to exclude all packages in the global java.security file, because then no code could be accessed at all. It would be necessary to use the trick of resetting the package.access property within the code, as [illustrated in the secure coding guidelines|http://java.sun.com/security/seccodeguide.html#1-1a] .
But the problem lies in the idea of "use the package.access property to deny access to +any+ package". There doesn't seem to be any way to use wildcards or the like with the property -- it has to specifically name packages (or package prefixes) to which access is forbidden. It wouldn't do to try to name the packages to which I'm trying to prevent access, since we're trying to prevent access from malicious code -- the attacker could just choose package names that aren't on the list. I'd really need to say that access is denied to all packages, except for those in the permitted code base, but the security mechanisms for package access don't seem to allow that.
Moreover, the trick of changing the value of package.access can't be done within the client code -- otherwise, the attacker client would just set the property to his own purposes. But it can't really be done within the sensitive package either, because the whole idea is to prevent access to that package, and by the time it's busy setting the property, it's already too late, because the package has to have been accessed by a client to get there at all.
It seems to me that this a symptom of something I've never really understood about the design of the Security Manager -- you can grant permissions to specific code bases, but you can't revoke permissions from specific code bases, let alone all code bases. What I want to do here is grant access permission to one specific code base and revoke it from all others. There doesn't seem to be any way to express that with the mechanisms of the Security Manager.
The more I look at it, the more it seems that there's just no way to use the Security Manager this way -- set up package access so that a specific code base can only be accessed by one specific client code base. There are surely other ways to get the effect that I'm looking for, but as far as I can tell, none of them involve restricting package access (for example: define a custom permission, grant it only to the permitted client. and check against that permission within the sensitive code base; meaning that the sensitive code has to be accessible to anyone in the first place). This conclusion really surprises me (not to mention my bit of embarrassment with the client); wouldn't this be precisely the sort of thing the Security Manager ought to be good for?You're looking at this back to front. The security policy file is there for the client to decide how much access he is going to give this application, not for to application to restrict who can use it. If you want to control what used to be called 'state orientation' you can do that directly by looking down the stack trace inside your code.

Internal NT error when attempting to use the Oracle Management Server
Our platform is:
HP NetServer LC 2000
1 GB Ram.
CPU: x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 8
Windows NT 4.0
Oracle 8.1.6
Currently the database is working fine except the problems with
the Oracle Management Server which will allow us to do a backup.
The Management Server NT Service is giving an error
called: "Error 2140 . An Internal NT Error Occurred" There is a
Listener service running but I don't know if the settings are
correct??Hello,
I too am an Ashford University student, and I have received the same error. However, I have found a couple workarounds that allow me to do pretty much everything except view my degree progress (for that I use Chrome on my iMac).
****CAUTION: THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF DATA****
First, back up your iPad in iTunes (if you do not know how to do this, then do not proceed until you do). Second, quit Safari (double-tap the home button so that the multi-task bar appears at the bottom of the screen, then swipe until you see Safari, then press and hold the Safari icon until the 'X' appears, finally press the 'X' to quit the App) Third, make sure Safari is configured as follows:
Settings > Safari >
Java Script "ENABLED"
Block Popups "OFF"
Accept Cookies "ALWAYS"
Reset Safari:
Settings > Safari >
Clear History
Clear Cookies
Clear Cache
Restart your iPad by holding the Home and Sleep buttons until the Apple Logo appears (immediately let go of both buttons or else you will put your iPad into recovery mode). Accessing the Ashford Student portal should now work. -
The program wouldn't open because it was apparently still running in the background, so I restarted a few times which didn't help. Then I tried using the task manager to end the process but that didn't work either. Then opened the command prompt and used taskkill, then pskill (using the PID number) but neither worked. The problem wasn't with how I was using these commands as they could close any other program I had running, just not firefox.exe*32. Any ideas?
Try:
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox.exe_always_open -
When I click options in addons/extensions the addon window freezes and I have to use the task manager to end the process. Any solutions?
There may be a problem with one of the files that stores details of installed extensions. Try deleting these files as shown in the "Corrupt extension files" section of this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
Though that article is not specifically about your problem, the method shown in the corrupt extension files section may help. When you restart Firefox after deleting those files, the list of installed extensions is rebuilt and this will hopefully fix your problem. -
Can I use the Profile Manager as an MDM while distributing app through app store?
Is it possible to use the Profile Manager within the OSX Server to provision profiles through apps purchased in the app store?
Ex: userX buys app in the app store, in downloading the app they get enrolled in the MDM / OSX Server I control. They select profile settings within my app and submit to OSX Server (Profile Manager) at which point I send back OTA the provisioned profile for them to upload.
Ex: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/parentkit/id600618138?mt=8
Thanks for the feedback!Is this not possible? Is it possible but not allowed?

Could not complete the command because of a problem using the Adobe Color Engine
Hi all
This bizarrely started this morning - completely out of the blue - and I've no idea why.
Setup: Mac 10.8.2 / Creative Suite Premium PhotoShop CS5 extended (patched to 12.04)
Am working on images exported from LightRoom 4 (16bit A3 Pro Photo RGB PSDs) in PhotoShop CS5.
As part of my image grading process I have a PhotoShop Action that does the following: copy layer to new document (document respects all of copied layer settings) > Image > Adjustments > HDR toning > apply a certain HDR preset > copy to resultant image back to original doc > set opacity as 40%.
Totally out of the blue, after having this action for about 2 months, this morning I start getting a warning dialog of "Could not complete the command because of a problem using the Adobe Color Engine" and the action fails. The failure seems to take place at the 'make document' part of the action and seems to somehow be related to the contents of the clipboard.
I've tried trashing and re-creating the action. It works first time out fine and then - on the next image - errors again.
At present I can only safely carry out the work 'manually' by completing all the actions myself.
I can think of no settings that have changed and the OS hasn't been updated in a while.
I have found one other thread on a similar problem in PhotoShop Elements, but no definitive solution.
Any help appreciated as I have a shedload of stuff to process.
Best wishes
TPOK: trash of prefs didn't work. Tried thrice. Re-created orig action. same problem.
BUT!
Your 'Image > Duplicate' suggestion does seem to work. If I use that in a new action as the method for creating the HDR version doc (instead of 'Select > Copy > New > Paste), it seems to work.
Will try that out this afternoon, but for now: WIN!
Many thanks for the suggestion!

Problem using the Write to SGL VI and Read from SGL VI
Hello Sir, I have a problem using the Write to SGL VI. When I am trying to write the captured data using DAQ board to a SGL file, I am unable to store the data as desired. There might be some problem with the VI which I am using to write the data to SGL file. I am not able to figure out the minor problem I am facing. I am attaching a zip file which contains five files.
1) Acquire_Current_Binary_Exp.vi -> This is the VI which I used to store my data using Write to SGL file.
2) Retrive_BINARY_Data.vi -> This is the VI which I used to Read from SGL file and plot it
3) Binary_Capture -> This is the captured data using (1) which can be plotted using (2) and what I observed is the plot is different and also the time scare is not as expected.
4) Unexpected_Graph.png is the unexpected graph when I am using Write to SGL and Read from SGL to store and retrieve the data.
5) Expected_Graph.png -> This is the expected data format I supposed to get. I have obtained this plot when I have used write to LVM and read from LVM file to store and retrieve the data.
I tried a lot modifying the sub VI’s but it doesn’t work for me. What I think is I am doing some mistake while I am writing the data to SGL and Reading the data from SGL. Also, I don’t know the reason why my graph is not like (5) rather I am getting something like its in (4). Its totally different. You can also observe the difference between the time scale of (4) and (5).
Have a Good Day
Regards,
Krishna

LABVIEW_Files.zip 552 KBAs already discussed a while ago, your binary data does not contain timing information. You need to tell it the scan rate so it can reconstruct the time axis correcty.
From the data, it seems the sample file was recorded at 0.5MHz. Take the inverse and set the time increment. Voila!
Your sample file is two column data with one colum all zero. You need to set the number of columns to two, to only get the good data in channel 1.
Your acquisition program contains unecessary FOR loops, you can remove the inner loops without change in result.
It makes no sense to convert to SGL if you initialize the shift registers with an empty DBL array. You need to initialize with an empty SGL array.
(The code could be simplified quite a bit more, but this should give you some directions).
The attached zip shows some ideas (LabVIEW 7.1).
LabVIEW Champion . Do more with less code and in less time .

Using the transition manager on a movie clip prevents me from physically moving it after that
Hi,
I'm using the transitions manager to animate certain objects
in my movie. let's say I'm using it on a ball - using the following
code:
import mx.transitions.Tween;
import mx.transitions.easing.*;
function zoomIn(_mc) {
new Tween(_mc, "_xScale", Bounce.easeOut, 0, 100, .3, true);
new Tween(_mc, "_yScale", Bounce.easeOut, 0, 100, .3, true);
function zoomOut(_mc) {
new Tween(_mc, "_xScale", None.easeIn, this._xscale, 0, .05,
true);
new Tween(_mc, "_yScale", None.easeIn, this._xscale, 0, .05,
true);
and then calling it later with this:
zoomIn(ball_mc);
That works fine. But at a later stage of the movie I then try
to move the location of the ball - not with code but by adding a
key frame and physically moving it's location. When I play the
movie back it does not show that it moves.
I'd really just like to know why this is!
Thanks,
RayI think that once the Tween plays, the ball_mc, now resides
in it's final resting place, it might do this with all instances of
the mc, interesting though. I would have thought the same, maybe if
you move it and give it a different instance name it will not
effect the position on the new keyframe. -
I tried the suggested solutions including the 'clean install', any help would be most appreciated. I've used the Profile Manager, which is not much use when the browser won't even open to test it. I've also reinstalled twice, installed updates and restarted numerous times.
Firefox does do this on occasion, but usually sorts itself out - not this time.
