The PDF file and slideshow view corrupted using iPhoto. Macbook air only get corrupted slideshow and Mac Mini both slideshow and PDF file is corrupted.

Saving as a PDF file for some users have been a problem.  If you boot into  Safe Mode and run iPhoto you can create undamaged PDF files.  We don't know why the problem but this is a workaround.
This problem prevents many from ordering books, calendars and cards since iPhoto creates PDF file of them for uploading and printing.  Booting into Safe Mode lets them successfully order those items.

Hi I bought 2TB WD my passport for mac but I do not know what I can delete from the original macbook air. Thank you.

That depends on what you have on the MBA...if you have videos, move the videos to the external drive.  If you have a lot of music, create a folder/library for the music and point iTunes there for the music.  If you have a lot of photos for iPhoto, make a new library on the external drive and move our photos over there and then select that library as the default library for iPhoto to use.
Those are the big files and should take a lot of the load off the internal storage.

  • HT201700 Voltage input range for original Macbook air 2008/2009

My charger (A1244 | 45w) no longer works. And I need to buy a new charger. Since this is for an old 2008 macbook air, the smart thing to do is buy a charger that will work with new models (that require 85w).
Apple doesn't make this power tolerance specification easily available online. This page is helpful, but doesn't provide the tolerance specification....

    Question:
I want to make sure that the (minimum) voltage input range for my original macbook air is between 14V and 18.5V.
Does anyone have a definitive answer for this?

"the smart thing to do is buy a charger that will work with new models (that require 85w)."
No, the smart thing is to buy the proper replacement for the power adapter.  Since the power adapter connector has changed, you'll also need to purchase an adapter for the MagSafe connector.

Keep in mind you can also use the optical drive of another computer to upgrade OS X. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2129 has information on how to do that. This works on a Windows PC as well as a Mac.

  • Problems booting from install disk with MacBook Air

(I'm posting this here b/c it's been three days since I posted this in the /MacBook Air/Networking section and no one's touched it...)
Somehow, the hard disk in my MBA has been corrupted, or something. First symptom I noticed - when booting up, I get stuck on that blank blue screen for, oh, 5 minutes or so, before flashing back to the grey Apple logo screen, then finally getting to the desktop. I tried repairing permissions via Disk Utility; it spun for 10 minutes without doing anything, so I stopped the process. The "Repair Disk" function in Disk Utility was not available for some reason, so I tried "Verify Disk." This failed. I forget the exact wording of the error message, but it said, in essence, that the disk was corrupted and I should run Disk Utility from the system install disk.
Here it gets interesting. I have an MBA SuperDrive, so I first tried booting from there. I'd forgotten about holding down "c" I just held Option, selected the disk, and tried to boot from it. I got a grey screen with the grey Apple logo and a spinning gear; then the Apple logo was replaced by a grey circle with a diagonal line through it (like, from a "no smoking" sign or something) and a spinning gear... this persisted for another 10 minutes or so without going anywhere, so I forced a shutdown.
Thinking the problem might be the SuperDrive, I tried to do the same procedure via Remote Disk (from an iBook G4 running 10.5.5). I followed the instructions, connected the MBA to my wireless network, it found the remote disk, tried to boot from it - but I got the same behavior. Grey Apple screen giving way to grey circle with a diagonal line through it, and an endlessly spinning gear underneath.
What in the world is going on here?

You seem to have a lot of problems, the last being a kernel panic. This is often attributed to a hardware failure including the possibility of defective RAM.
They are not easy to track down but here are some suggestions to assist you.

However, try once again to boot from the install DVD and perform Repair Disk, otherwise, start on the troubleshooting.

  • Problem with partition disk in 2010 MacBook Air

    Hello!
I have a 2010 MacBook Air 11-inch and I can't do a partition disk with bootcamp. I have Windows 7 ISO and I have a bootable usb with this. Then, when I try to do partition with bootcamp , it said that I need a remote optical drive. I don't understand, because with my 2009 iMac I can do the partition with bootable usb since bootcamp. This problem is caused by bootcamp program is not well updated or simply, I can't do the partition without remote optical drive?
    Thanks for help!

Exactly the same happened to me. Yesterday morning I opened the lid of my MBP8,1 (late 2011) on a meeting with a client and It just did not wake up :-/ After forced reboot it would never boot stuck on the same place.
Now what is happening any HDD will be recognized and booted aswell 10/10 attempts but SSD will not boot eventhough I reinstalled it all. The SSD WILL boot in other MBP and is visible on other systems.
The SSD WILL BOOT via USB.
I do not believe the disk is the problem.
My MB was replaced just few months ago. My SATA cable was replaced some time before the MB.

  • Problems syncing 64GB iPad 2 to MacBook Air 1st Generation

Before I had an iPad, I used a MacBook Air for portable applications and travel. I never kept much on my MacBook Air (just word files, and the occasional song or photo). I had an old iMac for home use, and to sync with my little mini-iPod for the gym. (The iMac has a huge photo archive and gym music; the MacBook Air has some old precious family photos, some recent trip photos, and a more car-friendly, thoughtful collection of music. It also now has back-up from all my iPad 2 applications, books, movies, iTunes classes, and music)
Since May, I have been backing up my iPad 2 64GB to my 1st Gen MacBook Air, and loading more photos and songs on my iPad and my Air. Silly me...I clearly wasn't planning ahead...since there are only 72GB of memory on the 1st Generation Airs. So, of course, now the iPad 2 has 36GB or so of data on it, and the MacBook Air has run out of room. I can no longer sync, and all the apps on the Air are running slow!
I tried moving all media files off the Air to a 1TB external storage device, but that's unruly. When I try to sync, I get difficult questions about whether I want to "replace all files on the iPad 2"? And even if I were brave enough to say "yes", with so many files on an external device, the MacBook Air no longer feels portable.
I'm open to buying new hardware (say, a MacMini, or--after taking some months for saving money, a new laptop or desktop). Or combining iTunes profiles and photos somehow between my iMac and Air, and then syncing to the iMac instead of the Air, and letting the Air become once again a relatively empty portable laptop. Or will the iCloud solve all my problems?
I'm looking for suggestions and solutions....

I had the same beeping problem, using an apple cable plugged directly into one of my iMac's USB ports.  Worse, at one point in trying to eliminate my iPad Air beeping, iTunes would not recognize my iPad as a device.  After trying various remidies I saw posted, I elimited the beeping and was able to sync with my iMac by doing the folowing:
    1.  Restart both my iMac and iPad, with them disconnected, and an apple connection cable in one of the iMac's USB ports (not in a USB hub).
    2.  Open iTunes on the iMac
    3.  Eject every device that iTunes identifies, even though they are not connected (for me, two iphones and my wife's iPad).  After uyou eject the last device, the "x devices" button will disappear.
    4.  Connect the iPad Air to the iMac via the Apple cable.  I heard a single beep, and iTunes found my iPad in about 5 seconds.
    5.  I was then able to sync/backup my iPad to the iMac.
    Hope this works for others.

  • System Uses 80-90% of cpu on Original Macbook air

I am looking for a solution that reduces the system from using 80% of my cpu. I am getting frustrated

If you are using Mac OS X Lion then I'd suggest to downgrade to Snow Leopard.
Lion is more resource hungry than Snow Leopard, this makes the CPU heat up more.
If the CPU heats up the computer throtles it down to a lower speed for it to cool down. When this happens you'll see your CPU usage go up too, to keep it as simple as I can: imagine you are using 50% capacity at 1.86ghz and the computer throtles down to 0.93ghz, with half the processing speed the laptop would need double the usage to run the same app at the same speed, so it would use 100%. It can even go over 100% if you push it enough.
Sometimes the system will report that it's using 80 or 90% to prevent other apps from stressing the processor and heating it up even further or it will even shut down one of it's cores, a common issue on early 2008 models.
I have a 2009 2.13ghz Macbook Air and after having some performance issues with Lion I reinstalled Snow Leopard, my mac runs much cooler with it and my battery life is one hour longer since it's less stressful on the processor and memory.
You should also google around Coolbook for Snow Leopard, it brings the temperature down and therefore the laptop can run more time at full tilt before it slows the processor down, meaning better performance.
    Just my two cents.

  • I am having problems updating my iPhoto on my MacBook Air, please help?

I started to update iPhoto on my MacBook Air, but I had bad wifi at home so I paused it. But now that I have good and fast wifi, I press Resume and it asks for my apple ID, so I put it, but then it says that the connection failed, can someone please help!

    Back up all data.
Quit the App Store application if it's running. Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it, then drag or copy it — do not type — into the Terminal window:
    open $TMPDIR../C
Press return. A folder should open. From that folder, delete the subfolder named "com.apple.appstore".
Launch the App Store and try again.
