Problems viewing rented movies on Apple Tv

Somebody help me with my Apple Tv, I just rented 2 movies "how do you know" and "The rite", and as soon as I reach the PLAY BUTTON it appears a black screen with the legend: **AN ERROR OCURRED LOADING THIS CONTENT, try again later**  please help!!!

you have to physically move the rented movie to the appletv, it is not the same process as streaming or syncing existing itunes content.
in itunes in the movies section, you should see the rented movie in a specific rental section, you then move it to the appletv.

  • Problems whit renting movies in apple TV

I have problems with renting movies on my apple TV. When i have entert my CVV code, appel TV tells me to verify my payment information in iTunes Store. Everything seems to be rigt in iTunes Store. Anyone ho knows how to fiks it?

The limitation of approximately 200 titles has been discussed before, we can't be sure whether it will be something that gets fixed or not. I'm not really sure what your other issues are, if I use search instead of lists, I find whatever I want and am able to rent or purchase subject to those options being available for that particular title.

  • Problems watching rented movies from Apple TV.

I'm having trouble watching a rented movie on Apple TV.  The movie loads, but when I play the movie it gets "hung" and wont play.  I've upgraded to the latest update and have tried re-starting Apple TV with no luck.

You can go to this page - http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/download/ and read the info available - if none of that helps then use the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom - you will be directed to - http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/. From that page you will be asked to fill in various info. Very painless but you have to fill in the blanks.

  • Problems viewing home movies on Apple TV

I would like to watch home movies on Apple TV but while my photographs show fine all the movies I have in iPhoto don't show at all. Is there a setting I need to change to make this possible? Thanks, Phil

I realize this is a late response, but it might help.
Try opening the movie file with iTunes. Right click on the video file, and select Open With > iTunes. If iTunes opens it and plays it, then it is ready to go for AppleTV. If it doesn't, then it is not in a format that iTunes or AppleTV support. This can be a huge time saver if you have a lot of clips.
If you have iTunes copy media to the library, then you are going to eat up a sizeable chunk of disk real estate -- as it sounds like you have a lot of movies. You can turn that option off and on in iTunes preferences. Unless you wanted it copied, I would turn that option off before importing a lot of video.
As someone else mentioned, you can use some free utilities to convert the files en masse. After they are converted, you do the same thing. Open With > iTunes. No need to call up iMovie. Quicktime Player has built-in preset for AppleTV in the Export option. There are automation scripts available to do this if you don't want to use Handbrake or other utility.
In my humble opinion, the AppleTV did not have sharing home movies in mind. At least not movies captured on non-apple devices. WDTV can play m2ts and other file formats with no conversion. I have several TB of home movies, so that was my only viable option. Besides, I don't think there is a way to play 1080p home movies through AppleTV. Nor will it play the 5.1 track from home movies, as that gets converted to stereo in the process.
    Hope this helps.

  • Big Problems Browsing & Renting Movies on Apple TV

We have new problems on our Apple TV.
    1) Our "All HD" browsing only shows titles through "Batman..." (or around there);
    2) The "Top Movies" browsing only shows movie titles A partway through C (starting letter of title);
    3) When you actually use the Search option to find and rent a movie title, a whole set of movies comes through WITHOUT any option to "rent" (and these are not just the ones that aren't available publicly for rent yet; e.g. we rented "Rachel Getting Married" two months ago on our Apple TV - now it shows up as only being available to buy...no rental option at all, regular or HD). It seems that the rental option only shows up for the movies that are actually viewable in points #1 and 2, above.
I tried going at it through "Genres" as well - and same issues: limited viewable titles, and limited rental options (way less than what I know can actually be rented - titles you could rent a month ago don't show up with a "rent" option at all).
SO - in sum: we are stuck not being able to view/browse most movie titles (limited to A, B,and a few C titles - and a few short lists like "Just Added," etc.), and it seems that ONLY those that we can view give us the option to rent (so of course this means our rent options are extremely limited as well).
WHAT is going on (?) and can Apple please fix this ASAP...the whole point of having Apple TV is to be able to easily download movies directly from the TV/Apple remote...I hope Apple isn't now requiring people to go back into iTunes to do this...that would take forever to download and THEN Synch on top of that.
This really needs to be fixed. (and FYI we checked for new Apple TV software downloads, says we're up to date; we checked for other updates - all OK; and we even unplugged the Apple TV unit and started it back up again...none of this helped)
Apple: please please respond to this. It's frustrating that this problem has been posted about several times already, and absolutely no response from Apple (on these discussion boards or in terms of providing a fix for this).
    Thanks.

  • HT1498 Problem with renting movie from Apple TV

Apple tv first asked me about my credit card code and then asked to go to iTunes store in my computer. I dont heve this movie in my rentals and I dont know what to do?

    Hey pablo3113,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like there may be an issue with your payment information, and thus the purchase was unable to complete. To check, go ahead and login to view your payment information on a computer with iTunes:

  • How can I watch an Apple rented movie via Apple TV?

Continue to have a freezing problem with rented movies from Apple. It *****.

What I ended up doing was to back all the out of the choice sequence and the start the movie from the beginning again. We were able to watch one hour of the movie and then it froze again. After repeated efforts to get it to continue, we gave up and went to bed.
For the recoded, the Internet connection was fine. Netflix worked flawlessly. Only the Apple movie connection was dead.
How do I get my rental money back? I won't be able to finish watching within the required 24 hour period after having started it last night...
I thought this problem would go away after having the FIOS service installed. A 10+ Mgb speed stream should feed a movie in jig time. It's certainly helped with download times on software and Netflix, YouTube, Vimeo streaming. Not Apple, which seems not to know how to buffer.
    Frustrated,

  • Problem renting movies with Apple TV

Having a problem renting movies using Apple TV with Comcast cable and Netgear gigabit wireless router.  After selecting a movie to rent and clicking "rent" a message appears: "Accessing iTunes Store", after some delay a second message appears stating an inability to connect to iTunes store, try again later. This issue is intermittent. At any given time a movie can be rented and streamed, but more than 50% of the time, the rental fails.

We're not really sure as yet - there certainly seem to be no comments on subtitling as a feature.

  • When I try to play a rented movie on Apple TV, it starts downloading again

WWhen I try to play a rented movie on Apple TV, it starts downloading again.

There is no accessible storage on Apple TV, so it will need to load each time. If you wish to store then rent on computer and use home sharing to view on Apple TV.

  • I cannot view rented movies (purchased through itunes) on my iPad2 in-flight

I cannot view rented movies (purchased through itunes) with the Video app on my iPad2 while flying. On a hunch, I purchased in-flight wifi and only then could I watch my rentals. What gives? Any suggestions on how to avoid paying for in-flight wifi is appreciated.

I don't think that he waited a day.  From the wording, I concluded that he waited only minutes (during take-off).
I recall seeing this issue before.  Apparently there is an issue related to copyright protection with some movies.  I stopped flying when I retired so I didn't pay too much attention to the problem.  Perhaps a search of the forum will shed more light.

  • Moving rented movies from Apple TV

I'm having a problem moving rented movies back from my ATV to my iMac.
The scenario is I rent a movie in iTunes on the Mac, move it to the ATV, and after watching it I then try to move them back to the Mac before the rental expires. It won't transfer back even though I'm connected to the Internet.
The "move" option exists in iTunes (I can select either "move" or "delete") in the ATV box. If I select "move" the movie graphic moves over to the Rented Movies field. The problem is that after I click on Sync the movie flips back to the ATV box as soon as it completes syncing so it doesn't become available to watch on the Mac.
I've tried this on several occasions and with different movies. No luck. It looks like it should work but never has successfully transferred back. The iTunes & ATV software are all up to date.
    Any ideas?

Yes. The movie rentals originate in iTunes on the Mac.
Perhaps it's easier to understand my situation. We have a number of young adults in the house. They often want to watch the same movies we rent if we tell them if it's worthwhile. The ATV is in our bedroom and my wife & I don't fancy having a half-dozen twenty-somethings piling on the bed to watch a rented movie. The Mac is in my home office. I would like to transfer movies back to it where they can watch or even transfer movies to an iPod & plug into a dock connected to the TV in our family room. I can't get the movie to transfer back (even though it originated on the Mac).
Normally any rented movies are in the ATV field (in my case called "Dad's Apple TV") and there's "move" & "delete" buttons. What I have been doing is to click on Move and then Sync. The movie icon does initially move to the Rented Movies field but it pops back the ATV field just as it finishes syncing.
Now an interesting thing has turned up this morning. We had rented a movie ("Date Night"...thumbs down) last Friday, watched it last night (Monday), and went to iTunes this morning to try once again to transfer it back to our Mac. This time the movie does not show up in the "Dad's Apple TV" field in iTunes even though it's been less than 24 hours since we first started watching it. The only thing that may be different is we fell asleep watching the movie and woke up hours later with the screen saver on. I can't say we've ever left a movie running through the credits to the very end before now.
