Problems viewing site in earlier versions of IE

Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if you can help me.
I've just built a site and it appears fine in FF & IE8 but in earlier versions of IE the pages break up and I lose the scroll boxes.
Can anyone offer me some advice?

A couple things jump out at me:
Line 4 - Your end tag is wrong. Currently is > and needs to be /> . And your id="footer" is used twice. Once on a span and once on a div. For the code to be read as valid it can only be used once.
Your CSS code seems like it would render fine in IE 7.

Certain site support earlier versions of FireFox 3.6. Is there a compatibility mode within Firefox 7.0

Certain web sites state browser versions for viewing compatibility, and these are older versions of FireFox. The site does state that FF3.5 & 3.6 are supported and I have a VMWare Image with FF3.6 and the pages are displayed correctly.
After installing the latest version, on Linux, I am not able to run the earlier versions. It seems to re-direct to the latest version.
I still have the script that started FF3.6, which looks for the /usr/lib64 directory and it has the directory /usr/lib64/firefox-3.6, yet when I run up the /usr/bin/firefox-old, I get FF7 started ...
I guess this query is two questions:-
1. How to run multiple versions of FF 3.6 & 7 in Linux
2. Certain sites do not support FireFox above 3.6, and is there a 'compatibility mode' to run FF7 as FF3.6 ??
I have opened the page in Firebug, and the body is indeed empty. There are Javascript modules recorded.

I have modified the original Fedora firefox script from /usr/bin/firefox to be /usr/bin/firefox-old.
Then I modified the script firefox-old to change the LAUNCHER from "/usr/bin/firefox" , which now points to my FF7.0.1 to the $MOZ_PROGRAM which has been setup earlier to the correct binary /usr/lib64/firefox-3.6/firefox

Keyword problem - assigned kw from earlier versions won't work in 1.3

All of my images are organized by keywords and I've just noticed that most of the keywords assigned in earlier versions of LR are not working. The keyword palette is there, it says there's x amount of photos with each keyword, a thumbnail displays in the navigator window but nothing shows up in the main Library view. I get the message "no photos match this filter".
Any ideas? I really don't want to have to go through and re-keyword everything.
I have tried optimizing the db, and also selected all photos and hit Ctrl-S to write metadata and still no go.

Now I feel like an idiot. I had a filter on. Thanks Kenneth.

Problems Viewing Site in IE

Hey, I seem to have come across a problem with my site. While it looks great in both Safari and Firefox (Mac OS X and Windows XP), it has some problems when being viewed by Internet Explorer (I've only tried with IE 6, I don't know about 7). Can anyone think of maybe why this might be? Here's one page where the difference is noticable, the IE version has what seems like a gray box over everything and the hyperlinks on the text seem like they are off.

Thanks! I can give that a try and see if it helps. With respect to the nagivation, I actually disabled the navigation bar (it's in the document part of the inspector), and that's just 3 rectangles (a large grey, 2 small white) with text over the top of it. The text is then hyperlinked to the corresponding page or web gallery. To me, it was just a lot cleaner setting it up like that than having every single page I made appear at the top. And to link to external pages (like my web gallery), open the inspector and go to the hyperlinks part of it (the very right). There should be a pull tab that has the options of "One of My Pages" and "External Pages". Put it on external pages and type in the URL address you want it to link to.

Problems Viewing Site After Upgrade

Now that I've upgraded to 08, I have so many problems with viewing my site (created with iWeb 06), that I'm thinking I should uninstall 08. The banner and the menu bar are absent when viewed in Explorer. The frames around some text boxes and photos do not show in any browser I've tried (Explorer, Firefox, Opera) except Safari. They were fine before (when I was using 06).
Is the problem that I created the site in 06 and am now updating it in 08? If so, I better uninstall 08 and reinstall 06 because I don't want to rebuild the entire site.
Any advice? And, just in case, how do I uninstall iWeb08?

When you launched iWeb '08 for the first time you should have gotten a popup window asking you wether you want to upgrade the domain file or not. And probably you just clicked on "update" as 99,9% of the people does...

Actually no... Only if you wanted to go back to iWeb '06 but in 99,9% of the cases that's not the case...

Right. As it works for all other browsers it must be an IE problem...

That will solve the navigation problem, but the page will still look terrible. The whole top section of the page (the navigation bar plus the banner) disappears in IE!
I don't have any IE, but when I looked at my pages at the University campus it worked great... Maybe it depends also on versions, service packs, and a lot of other variables...
Why oh why do people have to use that program???? Grrrr.
I'd give you a Nobel prize for this question... Maybe because they are unaware of how bad IE is... That's why you should provide the links to Safari or Firefox downloads... To contribute making the world a better place... A little change but if everyone does make a little bit the world is gonna be better of pretty soon... "I have a dream"...

IWeb problem viewing on some older versions of IE

I hope someone can help. I just published my iWeb site. I'm using version 2.0.2.
It seems that the page appears broken on some older versions of IE using Windows or it doesn't load at all.
Also I uploaded some changes and when I view it on my Mac using Safari I don't see the changes but other people using Windows can.
I'm curious how it looks on other Macs using Safari. www.prizerphoto.com
Is there a newer version or a patch available?

To view changes after uploading, click "Empty Cache..." in the "Safari" drop down menu before visiting your site.
Due to the number of images, your website will be hard to download in the latest version of IE. Older versions will have no chance!
To help get your site to download in the WWB (World's Worst Browser) you have to optimize your files.
Pay particular attention to the size of your photo files.

Difficulty viewing recordings from earlier version of MVP

I have a HDX18 laptop about 6 weeks old. From new I was able to record TV and saved these in the standard location.
Yesterday I updated the MVP software as a result of a prompt from "HP Health Check". (I had more problems with the so called Health Check - see other posts.) The MVP problem is that HP media centre will not recognise the old recordings from within HP media centre. I can record new recordings and play them back with no problem. I can see the old and the new recordings in Windows Explorer in the given location and can play the old recordings from Windows Explorer using "Open With" and selecting "HP MediaSmart Video Main Program" but the old ones refuse to display in the list of recordings within HP Media Centre. What is going on and how do I get them to display?

Okay, sounds like a simple matter of trying to jump to the HD video editting before my technoloogy is ready . I don't have the blu-ray player/burner yet, but was hoping to edit my movies in the HD format and eventually choose the HD output when I'm ready. I've been making progress on my test movie, but its been frustratingly slow with the crashes and choppy rendering so I don't think I'll continue with the higher def source.
My exact machine settings are: AMD 64x2 dual core 6000+ 3Ghz with 3GB of RAM (I was off by 1gb before). I'm running 32 bit Vista, and am using a Hitachi 456gb scsi hard drive (not sure of the speed unfortunately - never really had to worry about it before this). I have external drives that I use for backups, but not for hot usage.
I'll try the HDV approach - thanks a lot for the suggestions on that and the trial banner. I'm hoping the HDV runs smoother then an ice cold one with the big man and his VP.
Any idea about the problems with the track difficulties and lack of PIP features??

FireFox 8.0.1 does not work with most sites that functioned with no problems under earlier versions. I wish to uninstall and go back to an earlier version.

The more I attempt to use FireFox 8.0.1 the more problems I have. I find considerable interference with the functioning of RoboForm, my bookmarks keep disappearing, many sites that worked fine earlier and work fine with the Opera browser do not work under version 8. CS3 breaks site created in earlier versions

I originally created my site, www.inboxer.com, using
Dreamweaver MX. I upgraded with each version and had no significant
problems until the CS3 upgrade. My three biggest problems:
1. Design view no longer works. When I open a file in split
view, the design section is blank. But, when I make a minor edit,
such as adding a space character, and hit refresh, the design
appears. Unfortunately, after a few edits, the design disappears
again.
When this happens, the design view shows that it is in the
<head> tag -- even though I am editing the code in another
section. I do have a </head> tag. And, again, this code
worked fine in CS2.
I am also finding extra carat characters, <, in the code.
These carats are almost always either before the body command or at
the end of the document.
2. The library updates no longer work at all.
3. I have tried to detach from the templates and the
libraries, just so that I can edit the raw HTML, but I get an
unexpected end of file message when I try to save.
I am totally out of ideas and these problems make CS3
unusable. Do you have any ideas on how to fix the design view,

This almost ALWAYS means that there are coding errors on the
page that were
tolerated by the earlier versions but cannot be rendered by
CS3. We would
need to see your code to know what those might be, but you
can probably find

DW would never put these extra characters in your code. They
can only be
the result of operator error.

Try recreating the site cache (SITE | Advanced > Recreate
Site Cache). If
that fails then we will have to explore your site definition
a bit.

Before i downloaded your firefox 8.0.1, I used firefox to 'save as' the ''Unrealized gain/loss page'' from a brokerage account, - for my ongoing historical financial records file (safari doesn't work for this site).
On the Unrealized gain/loss page, there is a '+' symbol (in front of each stock owned) that one needs to 'clic' on (turns to a -) to see the various dates (and financial data) when you purchased different lots of the same stock. (say, ''IBM''; purchased IBM shares on 21-10-'11, 100 shares, @ $147, current price @ $180, gain of $33/share, total gain $3,300 / 10-14-'11 purchased 200 IBM shares, @ $191, current price @ $180, loss of $11/share, total loss $2200 / - and so on for however many individual 'lots' one has of that particular stock. ). This information is very important to me, and now i can not 'save' it.
- So I want to know how I 'fix' this - or - how I can go back to the earlier version, that did work.

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

On 12/23/11 I update the adobe flash player and have had problems since- unexpected closing and freezing. Remove the adobe flash player and those problems resolved. How do I go back to the earlier version of adobe?

I was prompted by Firefox to update my adobe flash player on 12/23/11, which I did. Ever since then the web site has frozen and/or crashed. I run a internet business and can't have this continue. I uninstalled the flash player and the problems have stopped. I would like to reinstall the earlier version of adobe, since that didn't seem to impact the web site.
This is the flash player I installed on the 23rd - Flash Player 10.3 for Mac OS X 10.4-10.5 (Intel)

Your above posted list of installed plugins doesn't show the Flash plugin for Firefox.

The FAFSA website only recognizes Firefox 4.0 or earlier versions. How can I get a compatible Firefox version so I can access the FAFSA site properly?

I have Mac OS 10.5.8 - can I download an earlier version of Firefox? The one on the site is for OS 10.6.0.

I'm encountering some sites that don't support Safari so I have to download Firefox. But I use Mac OS 10.5.8 and so I'd need an earlier version than the one available on your site for download. Can you help?

Firefox does not open site when i type just site name like "yahoo search"...my earlier version did it

I downloaded latest beta version of firefox. It does not open sites when i type just the site name like "yahoo search" or "youtube" etc...
I have to type the complete address like"youtube.com" or "facebook.com"
While earlier version of firefox did it. Please help...

Firefox 12 does not open yahoo which is my home page and e-mail. All I get is a grey screen with small icons on the left which do not open. I also have same problem with Safari.
