Problems viewing website in IE

I am not very experienced with Dreamweaver but have not had problems in the past.  My new website operates perfectly in Chrome etc. but in IE, the links in the Nav bar open up a new page.  I have set this site up with a Frameset.
I have tried all the basic fixes but still not working......HELP!!!!

Also, you say you have "set this site up with a frameset".  what does this mean?  The site is made with tables an that is all I see in the source.

  • A potential solution to problems viewing websites on Safari, firefox etc.

I wanted to share with you this most curious incident, which for once has a happy ending - for whatever help it may provide others with similar problems to me.. so here goes:
Since about mid-June I (on my iMac G5) and my partner on his MacBook have both had a real nightmare trying to access certain websites that have one thing in common, they have or are to some extent powered by a database.
My problems were with Typepad and with Ebay (having trouble viewing some items and posting stuff to be sold) as well as some other sites being super slow to load or in some cases not loading at all. (like sites found on Google searches for instance) So what to do? Both of us have been tearing our hair out with this problem as we were not sure whether it was our service provider's fault, the router, the Airport, Safari (but then we had similar problems with Firefox) or the OS10.5.4 upgrade both of us duly installed when it came through on program update..
So after testing the router, the connection, airport and coming to the conclusion that somehow the problem was relating to how the Macs were connecting to the Internet.. or specifically weren't connecting to certain sites..Then I struck gold by figuring out this little workaround:
    1. Open up Network preferences: Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network
    2. If you are connecting to the Internet via Airport, click on Airport in the left column and click on the Advanced button, if you are using Ethernet choose that and click on Advanced
    3. If you like me connect to the Internet Using DHCP, you will most likely find that below is a bit that says Configure IPv6 and the default is Automatically. Set this to off. OK it, you are back to Network panel, choose Apply.
    4. Quit Safari and restart it again and the sites should load. Alternatively you can go into Network, click on Advanced, then the DNS panel and enter the following DNS servers:
208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 OK it, Apply and quit and restart Safari again
    5. and here's the bizarre thing: after the sites load you can go into Network, Advanced and turn on Configure IPv6 Automatically again, as well as delete the DNS servers you added in the DNS pane and it still works! (Even if you restart Safari)
Seems that there is some sort of bug here hidden in the IPv6 thingy and all I know is that if you do this it sorts out the problem (did it for my iMac G5 and partners MacBook) but I have absolutely no idea why? Someone technical can hopefully shed a light on this..

Yang: I entered Terminal and entered the command you recommended: "dscacheutil-flushcache"and I got the response command not found.
I have never used Terminal before so probably I am missing something along they way. Where there any additional steps I need to do attempt this fix?
    Thanks, Bob

  • Problem viewing website on IE6 -second posting

Thanks to mbatsis and flakac for your comments on my previous message about IE6 problem.
I'm fairly new to HTML design, so am not sure how to resolve this problem. The pages I have designed are fine to view on all systems apart from my laptop which runs on Windows XP Home Edition, IE6. The site is designed in Dreamweaver. The top nameplate of the site is missing on all pages on the site when I view on my laptop. flakac advised to View > Source. How can I tell if there is a script error or other problem? The website in question is www.pfma.com
    Hope you can help!
    mg

    Hi
to tell if there is a script error you can open the browser preferences and allow the option to display every script error:
Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced (Tab) -> under Browsing enable "Display a notification about every script error"
    hope it helps

  • Others have problem viewing web.me website

Other people are either having problems viewing my website in its entirety, or they are having difficulty viewing certain blog posts. I am seriously considering changing to another blog.

I am upset that I have wasted $100 for the year.
If you're referring to the yearly fee for MobileMe then that's not true. It's not MobileMe that the problem. It's IE.
You can dumb down your web site to the lowest denominator, i.e. Internet Explorer, and can have your site viewable by all browsers. If your site is a commercial site then possible the use of iWeb and MobileMe is not the best choice. As already pointed out iWeb adheres very closely to web standards, almost to a fault some would say. So any browser that has not kept up with those standards will have problems to some degree or another.
As for MobileMe, it's primarily geared towards the social networking that it provides and has a lot of server side stuff going on that makes it slower and more iffy than commercial hosting services like HostExcellence, GoDaddy, etc.

  • Problem viewing Apple website

Just wondering if anyone else is having a problem viewing
    http://www.apple.com ?
I suspect I know what is going on, but would like some
verification that the page is trying to load a quicktime
    clip in H.264.
    Regards,
    genec

I am using Windows XP Home SP2 and QuickTime 7.1.
When I try to go to http://www.apple.com
Internet Explorer 6 SP 1 crashes. So does Firefox.
The problem is, I suspect, that my computer does not meet
    the minimum requirements for H.264.
I do note that the requirements for Quicktime 7 are:
    Windows XP (got that)
    a pentium computer (AMD K6-2 500)
    and 128MB ram (have 384MB)
I have downloaded the stand alone install for Quicktime 7.1
I have the latest version of direct X and have checked for
    video driver updates (none available.
So basically, I have done everything on the Quicktime
support site and it will not work.
I tried to view the WWDC, and got a Microsoft Visual C++
    Runtime Library error....Bufer Overrun Detected.
I am working that issue with Microsoft.
Any further light you can shed on this would be most appreciated.

  • All that comes up when I open Firefox are my toolbars and a place to enter a URL, but there is no window. I have to enter full screen mode to view websites.

Something happened with Firefox where all that comes up when I open Firefox are my toolbars and a place to enter a URL, but there is no window. I have to enter full screen mode to view websites. How do I get back to a regular browsing window? I have no idea how this even happened.

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Problem viewing some webpages

    Hey
Looking for some help with my macbook. I have been having problems viewing videos on youtube and i'm unsure of the problem. When i try to view a video it comes up with this message.
"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."
Also youtube doesn't look right. It looks like it is all in some kind of basic format with no graphics, ads, pictures etc. (Im not particularly computer savvy)
I've checked my all the settings are correct in preferences, i've updated flash player and made sure all other software is up to date and still no joy!
I had no important data on my macbook so i wiped it and reinstalled the OS and updated everything again, it still hasn't sorted the problem.
Im unsure what to do next, any ideas would be much appreciated.
PS i recently had someone's external hard drive plugged in to it, could i have got some virus from this??

Thanks for the swift reply greg.
I assumed it probably was not a virus but i thought i'd check anyway. Thats pretty much the reason i bought a mac.
I checked the preferences and JavaScript was already enabled and all other boxes checked also. It only seems to be youtube thats the problem so far although i have not been on many other websites since.
My internet connection is not particularly fast, i am using my college wifi network and it can often be very slow. I usually need to let videos load for a couple of minutes before i can watch.
I have had the Macbook for about a week and have been using it regularly. The problem only started yesterday. I also carried out all my apple updates yesterday, i'm not sure if this is what has led to the problem??

  • Problems viewing CNN videos

Is it only me? With both Firefox and Safari, whenever I view a video on the CNN.com website, it is terrible. It just shutters and the audio is shaky. Even if I wait for the whole video to download before pressing play, I get the same problem. This has been happening for a long time, with many different versions of Firefox, starting in 2.x and still in 3.x. I never have any problems viewing YouTube video or any QuickTime videos, it is ONLY on the CNN.com website. I have contacted them several times (contact us) and complained, but I have never received a reply.
I just want to make sure it isn't my machine. I have a pretty good system with plenty of RAM, etc.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I've never had an problems viewing CNN video/audio on Safari 3.1.2 (Tiger 10.4.11).
In Safari, from the Menu Bar, select Help/Installed Plug-Ins and make sure you have the following plugin: Shockwave Flash 9.0 r151 — from file “Flash Player.plugin”. You can do a quick search of plugins by pressing Command + F in that plug in window and type in Flash in the search field. If it's there, it will be highlighed.
If not, go here and download the Safari Flash plugin: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/
If you already have the Flash plugin, perhaps you need to do some maintenance on your Mac? If you don't have a disk utility to clean out caches, run routine maintenance and cleaning scripts... get Onyx here: http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html It's free, easy to download and install and use.
Also, check your available drive space as BDAqua suggested. Right or control click your MacintoshHD icon, then click: Get Info In the Get Info click the black arrow next to General so it faces down. You will see: Capacity and Available. Make sure your Mac has a minimum of 10% free disk space, 15% is better. Not enough disk space and video/audio, applications.. will crash/free... in general, erratic behavior.

Try posting in the QuickTime for Mac forum. You'll be more likely to get help there than you will here in the QuickTime for Windows forum.
    Good luck.
Forum Tip: It is generally considered inappropriate behavior to type all in uppercase letters in Internet discussions, as text that is typed all in uppercase is by convention considered to be shouting. Uppercase is also more difficult to read, so please use all uppercase sparingly and only when you really mean to shout, which we hope you won’t need to do here .

  • Recently having a problem viewing youtube clips embedded on to ppt

As a lecturer, I often insert youtube clips onto my ppt. Until about a month ago, I never had problems viewing the embedded youtube clips on my powerpoint files. Now, after having succesfully embedded the video clips, I keep getting this message as shown in the screen shot below. I have installed the newest version of flash player numerous times (my OS is Window Vista and the Flash Player version I have is 11.7.700.169, AND I mostly use Firefox but have the same problem on IE), turned off and back on several times, and uninstalled and reinstalled the Flasy Player many times, but nothing would work. I have tried embedding other youtube images as well as tried doing the same thing on other computers and I run into the same problem. I KNOW how to embed youtube videos into ppt files as I had done it a lot of times with no problem. I don't assume I am the only one experiencing this problem. Please help!
PS: Sorry, didn't know the screenshot doesn't work here. So the message I get is "To play the selected item, you must install a later version of the Adobe Flash Player. To download the Adobe Flash Player, go to the Adobe website."

I was playing with my ipad settings and noted in he advanced settings of Safari there was a place to view "website databases".  When I selected this I saw a multitude of websites.
Can anyone tell me how these get there?  Can a website be posted even if it was never went to?  What does the space amount mean?  For example, 1.5 kb...is this quite a bit?  Would it indicate someone has gone to a site multiple times?
I share my ipad with my teenage daughter and I'm trying to find out if she's lying to me.  Obviously she's swearing that she has "no idea" how these got there and I'm trying to keep her safe (she's only 14).
    Thanks everyone.
    Concerned Mom

Think of your PC and the 'temporary internet folder' where it keeps cached copies of web pages or elements off a web page for 'quicker display the next time you visit'. That's pretty much what that folder is. 1.5K is tiny. Probably just a basic page with some text on it. (you might be confusing 1.5K with 1.5 megabyte....megabyte is large...it's roughly 1000 kilobytes, so the 1.5K is a tiny file)
As far as I know, the only way info gets into that folder is if the browser has been to that site.
if you have a concern there are browsers out there, McGruff is one i've seen recommended, that allow some degree of parental control and supervision. That or you could passcode lock the iPad or enable the restrictions to turn off some parts of the device to have some control.

  • How can I turn off Recently Websites when opening new Safari window? After tapping on the two overlapping boxes on the bottom right of Safari, a new blank window appears with Favorites, but now in iOS 8, recently viewed websites are listed.

How can I turn off Recently Visited Websites when opening new Safari window?
After tapping on the two overlapping boxes on the bottom right of Safari, a new blank window appears with Favorites, but now in iOS 8, recently viewed websites are listed. How can I turn this function off? I do NOT want my new Safari windows to have history displayed of previous websites I visited. I only want my Favorites (on the top) to be displayed. Please help.
Thank you for your time, patience, understanding, kindness, and concern.

Thanks for replying, but that isn't the answer I am looking for.  Also, there is no + sign, UNLESS you do tap the overlapping boxes.
Let me try to ask my question a little more clearly:
When I tap the two overlapping boxes on the lower left (the option to Open New Windows), the new Window that appears will show your Bookmarked FAVORITES. But with my new iPhone 6, and the new iOS 8.0.2, when I tap the two boxes to open a New Window, my Bookmark Favorites show (as they always have and should), but below them, there is a dividing line underneath them, and it says Recently Viewed Websites, and has these websites available to tap.
So my question is, HOW DO I TURN THESE OPTION OFF?
*UPDATE  (10.13.14): Since I have asked this question, I no longer see these Recently Viewed Websites under my Bookmarked Favorites in my new Window tabs. So I hope that Apple fixed it, or somehow it was a mistake, or somehow I changed an Option on my iPhone 6 that stopped this for reoccurring.
Thank you for your help bobseufert! I appreciate your concern, kindness, and the time to try to help. I am grateful.
    Have a blessed day.

  • Why don't recently viewed websites show in a different color anymore?

Yesterday I updated to Firefox 7.0.1, and now my recently viewed websites no longer display in a different color after viewing a website and going back to the original list of websites. I still want to see which ones I have already looked at when researching. Can you tell me how to get this feature back again?

If you are talking about the color differences between visited and unvisited in the links on your webpages then that that would be affected by any of the following:
    # changing the link colors in your Tools > Options > Content > fonts & colors: "Advanced" for which I have blue for Unvisited and magenta for Unvisited links. I have all three items check-marked "Use system colors:, "Underline links:, and "Allow pages to choose their own colors instead of my selections above".
    # Loss of history data, such as clearing of your browsing history
    #* http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4928/clearcachew.png
    # Private browsing ("Ctrl+Shift+P") will not mark any links as visited, same would apply to permanent Private Browsing ("Always use private browsing mode") in Tools > Options > Privacy
    #* http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4928/clearcachew.png
I left out the link on the following and have added it, but since the above answered the question, I'm changing this last part to a footnote.
None of which would be directly related to updating Firefox, but at such times the localstore.rdf file in you profile may be affected (corrupted), and changes made to your toolbars and options will not stick.

Problem viewing forms. This form is not supported with the current version of Adobe Reader.
Upgrade to the latest version for full support.
What exactly do I need to do?

That means you were probably using Adobe Acrobat to view PDF's. Acrobat is totally unnessary, you can view PDF's in Preview (Applications - Preview).
BTW PLEASE complete your profile. It's very difficult to help  someone when they don't provide any information about their system. You can easily do this by clicking Your Stuff in the upper right of this page, then click Profile and fill in the pertinent information.
