Problems w/ burning a blank disc. HELP? thanks!

I inserted a blanc disc into my mac and it did not detect it. After 5 more tries it finally did. I want to burn some audio i have onto it. I am using toast titanium to do this, but it does not see the disc. When i look for it in toast it see's it as a folder. Does anyone here have any experience w/ toast? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I tried both. The disc does not even show up in disc ultility. It shows as a disk on the desltop but not in the finder (or anywhere else) just as a folder. Tried different disc type selections like you suggested steve539 but still no success.
   Other info that might help!
I listed as having a G5, that is not true i no longer have that. I now have an intel 1.83GHz, 2gb ram, intel core duo.
Also the CD's i am using are CD-R type.

    Thanks for the additional information.
After you have your Timeline content ready for export with destination burn to disc, if you do not go to Tools Menu/Movie Menu to apply disc menus and you go instead directly to Publish+Share/Disc, you will get an automatic message for a Yes or No answer with regard to disc menus.
If you do not want menus, then just click No and you should next see the following
where you make your burn to choice.
The Yes or No message should be for Publish+Share/Disc and not Publish+Share/Computer.
You cannot export a file with menus to the hard drive.
If you went Timeline content, Tools Menu/Movie Menu, and applied a menu, and then decided that you do not want a menu, the go to the top of the Movie Menu customization area and click on Reset, followed by Done. And, then go to Publish+Share/Computer and your choice for the export to file saved to the computer hard drive.
Please review the above and let us know if you are OK with the above details.
    Thank you.

  • Can't Burn Playlist - Blank Disc Ejects

I have been trying to burn a playlist to CDs. The first disc burned without a problem. However, when ITunes called for insertion of a second blank disc, it started to initialize then ejected the disc. I have not been able to get anything more burned, except me. The ITunes support pages have been useless and I have spent 6+ hours trying to figure out this problem. Is there any way to speak with a person or have an e-mail conversation with someone who can provide technical support for this problem. The "support" pages don't provide any access to anyone that could probably help me. Thanks.
P.S. The discs are recognized by and writeable from other programs.

EUREKA for CD not burning on iTunes! For me after spending hours trying to solve this issue, I went to
Edit (on iTunes), Preferences, Advanced, Burning and changed to "Audio" CD. I felt pretty stupid. Somehow the setting got changed. Hope it might work for your.

  • Wont burn--says blank disc is full

    Hi there,
Having a problem with iphoto 5.04, trying to burn 446 meg of photos to a disc. When it asks for a blank disc (have tried 3) it comes up saying the disc is full and wont burn it.
sound familliar? is there a way around this? am i missing something?
    Thanks,
    Marc

    Hi Marc,
I have the same issue today.
Since I had a problem of booting so that I reconstructed library by using option start. However I cannot back up the library images to DVD now.
Toast works so that this is not Pioneer superdrive issue.

  • IDVD does not burn iMovie, blank disc

iMovie is fine. I export to iDVD and everything is fine, make titles, etc.
I burn and everything's ok, and the burn progresses fine, but the burn stops and spits out the disc seconds before it is complete.
I put the disc back in and I get the "you have inserted a blank disc....." message.
I'm using iLife '09, Maxell DVD-R discs (which have worked fine before) I scoured the internet and tried ALL suggestions I came across.
Any ideas or help is appreciated.....

Don't know why some fail so soon. But it does happen. Happened to me also a few years back. Did you happen to purchase an extended applecare warranty by any chance? If not apple normally covers these issues for the first 12 months (1 year). Nevertheless, Id give them a call anyway and feel free to keep us posted. I can tell you from experience that apple is normally very good about servicing their products (even those slightly out of warranty) so it is worth the call.
If you don't get the results you want, then just post back and we'll provided additional recommendations or possible workarounds.

Disk Utility: Burn error: 0x8002006E The burn failed because of a medium write error.
DiskUtility has the 2.4x speed set but its grayed out - the above suggests that DiskUtility is trying to burn at 47x but as the speed setting is grayed out I cannot reduce the speed in any way.
Anyone had this before - I have used this brand of disc before and its from the middle of a box which has been fine.

I'm not convinced this is a hardware issue. My logs definitely point to a software-based bug.
The clue that points to a software issue is this snippet from your log. Did anyone at the Genius bar comment on it?
*Disk Utility: Requested burn speed was 47x, actual burn speed is 2.4x.*
I think I've found a solution to my particular problem. Here's a repost of my success from another thread.

Read the second posting. It gives a fantastic argument for not doing anything on the computer after you press the "burn" button in the finder.
It resolved this error for me:
Finder: Verify started, Thu Mar 12 17:47:35 2009
Finder: Discrepancy in block 300 at byte 79.
    Finder: Source data: 0000 0000 0000 0200 0000 0000 0000 0D00
    Finder: Burned data: 0000 0000 0000 0200 0000 0000 0000 0C00
Finder: Verify failed, Thu Mar 12 17:47:37 2009
Finder: Verify error: 0x80020063 Verification of the burn failed.
Also be sure your computer is burning at the proper speeds. Previously I was recieving this message:
Finder: Requested burn speed was 47x, actual burn speed is 8x.
Which is false because I intentionally picked to burn at 4x. After updating to 10.5.6 and repairing permissions suddenly, the log was appearing correctly as this...
Finder: Requested burn speed was 4x, actual burn speed is 4x.
You can see logs of your dvd/cd burning by opening Console (use spotlight to search for it) and looking under "LOG Files". The file is named DiscRecording.log in the console app.

DVD-RAM disks must be formatted first.  Could that be the issue?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Happy to share, and the answer I found on this forum, someone had a similar question. From memory it was to right click on the drive, go to properties, recording tab and tick the option to burn to CD. Managed to burn video clips after that.

my macbook is flashing saying "insert blank disc..." when disc is in computer to burn a cd. Can you help?

Bummer. Could be a problem with the MBP drive. Are you using Re-writable discs maybe?
Check the discs work in your HP machine. They may have burnt but not successfully. Your HP machine may not be able to open them either.
Have you considered using a USB flash device to transfer the photos, or just copy them over your home network? CD is a slow an cumbersome method.

  • Have a .mp4 video and would like to use it to burn to a disc and be able to be played on a dvd player, should i use idvd or what? also have a .avi file what should i use? thanks please help

Have a .mp4 video and would like to use it to burn to a disc and be able to be played on a DVD player and a .AVI file what program should I use idvd?

iDVD may or may not work with them – depending what kind of MP4 and AVI each is.
Drag them into iDVD and preview them to check compatibility.
If there are issues, use MPEG Streamclip and re-wrap them as QuickTime.

    Hi, b.lang4
my guess is that it is a bad disk. I had more often this kind of erratic behavior with cheap CD's. can you confirm with a CD? do you have a batch of different DVDs?

  • Insert Blank Disc Error - Can Only Burn to DVD

When attempting to burn a cs through iTunes, I continuosly get an error prompting me to insert a blank disc. The cdrs I'm using are fine and I never had a problem with them before. If I insert a blank dvd, the audio files will copy to the dvd w/o a problem. I also ran the diagnostics and received a 128-error code. Anyone have any ideas?

I can think of one thing that may be helpful. There have been numerous burning problems in the last month since version 7.3 and 7.3.1 were released. I have been told that a new version of Itunes is available for download as of today.
This might have been one of the errors that has been corrrected. Try that first. Download it from:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If that doesn't help, I hope someone else logs on who has more experience with this issue.
