Problems watching 3d on Envy 17 3d

I bought a new Envy 17 3d laptop on December 31, 2011, and have yet to get the 3d feature to work with the pre-loaded sample movie clips, or with BlueRay 3d movies. I downloaded free TriDef software after reading a blog that said new HP Envy 17 3d laptop purchasers could get the TriDef software for free.  The TriDef software has a feature allowing 3d viewing of Google Maps that worked once, but now I can't get it to work either.  The Envy 17 3d User Manual was of no help and it does not describe any troubleshooting suggestions.  I've tried turning off the overhead lights, changing the refresh rate from 96 to 120 and back again, switching the left-eye right-eye feature, changing the display resolution, etc., etc. . . . When the 3d glasses do seem to be working, the oscillation rate of the lenses is so obvious as to be annoying.  Nothing works, there's no consistency, and I've found that hooking up an external monitor shuts down the 3d features completely even if you don't try to watch a BlueRay 3d movie or 3d clip on anything but the laptop monitor.  I've tried talking to two HP technicians on the telephone, and all they can do is reference the useless Envy 17 3d user manual. HELP! Has anyone had these problems, and are there solutions?

 Hello again Long_Live_HP.
No, I did not mean that at all.  As a matter of fact your notebook's Software and Driver's page has downloads for Windows 8.  This means the notebook is supported and the hardware should all work fine.  However, what I didn't see was a version of Cyberlink's DVD application (which is what actually has the 3D support) for Windows 8.  This likely just means Cyberlink has not produced the product yet.  So, I was just wondering where you got the Cyberlink application to install.  Did you install the Windows 7 version?  If so, some features might not work because Cyberlink originally designed the program for use in another operating system.
If you did not install the Windows 7 version of the application please link to me to the version which you did install.  This may be helpful for determining why your 3D isn't working.
As far as the Proximity Sensor you are probably just missing drivers.  That was the reason for running HP Support Assistant.  However, if it won't allow you to check for updates then you'll need to try a different method.  I want you to provide Hardware IDs for the devices.  Try the following.
Press the Windows+X key combination.  This opens the Context Menu.
Select Device Manager.
Expand every section.
Locate any devices named "Unknown Device," "Other Device," or which have a yellow exclamation point by the name.
Right click on each of these devices.
Select Properties.
Navigate to the Details tab.
Select "Hardware Ids" from the drop-down menu.
Post these here.
Have a great day.
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

  • Problems watching Photos

    Hi everyone.
I have problems watching my photo. I open the photo App and after suddenly the Ipad reboots. The battery is not the problem because is full charged. Does someone knows what to do?

    Try these steps.
    Basic Troubleshooting
These are basic steps you can try if apps suddenly quit on you or if the your IPad starts to behave erratically. Quite often these simple fixes will resolve your issue.
Quit the app by double tapping the home button to bring up the multitasking/recents tray at the bottom, hold down on any of the app icons in the tray until all the icons wiggle, then tap the minus sign in the corner to quit the offending app or apps. Try your app again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad until the red slider appears, then slide to the right to power off the iPad. Turn the iPad on again by pressing the sleep button until the Apple logo appears. Once the iPad has fully rebooted, find your app, and tap the icon to relaunch.
Try a hard reset by pressing and holding down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad while holding down on the home button at the bottom, until the Apple logo appears and the iPad restarts. Launch the app again and see what happens.

  • Problems watching Adobe tutorial videos

I want to watch the Adobe video tutorials, but I find that the Adobe videos tutorials stutter and pause to such an extent that it is painful and impossible to watch. I don't have this problem with watching other videos on my machine.  (From Lynda.com, for example.)  It only occurs with Adobe videos.  Is there some setting that needs to be changed?  Can you help me?

    Hi Dave,
By the way.... In going to the video, in order to give you the link, I
discovered that the videos are playing better now.  I don't know whether,
because I tried to watch them before, some of the files are downloaded onto my
hard drive already, or whether the tutorials have been done in a different
way,  since the last time I tried.  Before I would have rated them on a
"painful  to watch" scale of 1-10 as a 9 to 12.  I currently rate them as a 3 or
a  4.  (Watchable.)  In fact, I watched the entire tutorial, and found it
very helpful.  (Though I still think that maybe more tweaking of the
encoding might make things even easier.  I don't seem to have  this problem with
    watching the videos from Lynda.com.
Thanks for answering my post!!  If you have some suggestions on  anything I
can do to my own settings to make these videos play better, please  let me
    know.

  • Problem watching streaming video

    Hi
I have problem watching streaming video. I was trying to watch an Apple Special Event called "It's Showtime" and I always get QuickTime window with white square, QuickTime icon in the meddle and moving progressing bar, no video or audio. I tried to change the QuickTime preferences using the following support link:
    http://seminars.apple.com/seminarsonline/wctest/apple/level2/wctest.html
but I'm getting the same results.
I tried the following: QuickTime Preferences / Advanced /Transport Setup: Custom/Transport Protocol :HTTP and Port ID: 80
    I'm using QuickTime 7.1.5
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   1.8 GHz, 2 GB

Repair permissions from your Tiger DVD. See if this helps. If not, try the following:
To fix a QT related problem w/Safari, quit Safari & look in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder (this is the Library folder at the root level of your HD, not the one inside your Users/user name folder).
Try removing the VLC Plugin.plugin (if you have it) & QT Plugin.plugin files from this folder, & then relaunch Safari. If the problem isn’t fixed, a different plug-in may be to blame. Keep removing files from this folder (start with any third-party plug-ins that are present) until the problem disappears.
Replace the plug-ins that don’t cause any problems.
    MacAddict Magazine...12/06
If none of the above works and/or no one else suggestions works out, suggest you try to view the video from another browser. Safari isn't the only browser in town.
Please post back with your results.
    Good luck!

  • Problem watching trailers in Apple Web Site only

    hi,
suddenly i have an odd prolbem in watching trailers at Apple's web site.
when im loading a trailer, it just indicating that the trailer is loaded and nothing happens, and the QuickTime Player is not even starting.
i have the latest version of quicktime, flash and shockwave and in other web sites i succeeded playing trailers , its only reproducing in apple site for some reason.
when i double Clicked on the bottom of the IExplorer to see Error messages,
i saw some quicktime error however i don't know if this error is related to the problem. the Error Message is : AC.Quicktime is null or not an object.
by the way, i don't think that this is the cause but im using Iexlporer 6 and not 7.
    waiting for your reply,
    A.T

Amir, I'm also having a similar problem with watching trailers on Apple's site. I've tried with many of them.
Clicking on the "Small" button under "Standard" plays the movie fine inside of the browser. Clicking "480p" under "HD" takes focus away from the browser after a few seconds (and I can see QuickTimePlayer.exe appearing in Task Manager), but then nothing happens. The process, after a bunch of initial activity, just sits at zero CPU, going up to 2% periodically, as if checking on something. The player window never appears.
Here's what is more strange: if I click on the same trailer link again, it somehow kicks QuickTimePlayer.exe in the butt and soon two players will appear, one for each time I clicked. I've even tried this with other trailers, and clicking on the second one is (so far) a sure way for the player to finally do something besides sit in memory.
I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2 and QuickTime 7.6. I've tried with both Internet Explorer 6 and 7, and there's no difference in the behavior of the QuickTimePlayer. Other .mov files on the hard drive (like the sample.mov in the Program Files\QuickTime directory) play instantly. The QuickTime plug-in for IE still works for .mov files on other sites and other media (.aiff, etc.)... just not for the movies on Apple's own site
I haven't seen any warnings/errors, JavaScript is on, and I'm accepting the Active X notification on Apple's site.
    What is wrong, I wonder?

  • Problems watching videos stored on TC

I recently moved my video library from a firewire external hard drive to my new TC (dual band). My movies are stored as .avi files (ca. 700mb) and I watch them using VLC. Now, when watching files stored on the TC the video pauses, and has other inconsistent viewing errors that happen approximately every 1-2 minutes and last for less than a second. It is very annoying-and not a product of the file. When i move the file to my desktop it plays just fine.
Is this a problem anyone else has seen or knows how to fix? It seems like maybe the TC is not broadcasting a consistent signal over wireless or that the internal HD of the TC has errors.
    Thanks

Welcome to the discussion area, LC 630!
The Time Capsule's drive was designed primarily as a destination for Time Capsule backups, not for primary storage for files that will be accessed on a regular basis. In other words, the Time Capsule does not function very well when called upon to work as a media server.
If at all possible, I would suggest connecting the Time Capsule to your computer using an ethernet connection to see if performance might improve with that type of setup.
Please let us know how the ethernet connection works if you elect to try this.

  • Help - SYNC problem watching video on Fancast

On both of my computers , When I watch a video on Fancast and other sites that use Flash Player the video and voice is not in sync. The longer you watch the farther the voice and video gets out of sync. The voice is ahead of the video. The video is also a little choppy. I use Firefox and Explorer browsers and both have the same problem. I have updated both as well as Flash Player on both computers. When I watch videos that use other players I do not have this problem. So if anyone can help please do ,it is not good to watch shows so out of sync.

  • Problem watching Youtube video with Safari 5.1.10

I'm running Safari 5.1.10 under Snow Leopard 10.6.8 but cannot watch anymore videos with Youtube. Does anyone has an idea ?
A message appears on the top of the screen asking to accept cookies. But when clicking on accept nothing happens ... :-(  and videos do not appear
I tried with Google Chrome no problem. Last week Safari was working well it just happened ~ 2 days ago.

    Hello Carolyn,
Thanks for your support but I already tried those options without success. I reinstalled completely Safari 5.1.10 but problem remains.
In fact it seems that clicking action to authorise cookies is inhibited (no effect) therefore videos as thumbtails do not appear (blank), however if I click on a video tittle then it starts to play normally. Really really weird, I don't if Google did some upgrade with Youtube therefore Safari 5.1.10 is obsolete ...
As an alternative I will use Google Chrome but it's a pitty.
    Laurent.

  • Firefox Problems Watching Streaming Video (Netflix, Hulu, etc.)

I have Netflix, hulu, VH1, etc. accounts that I use currently to watch movies, t.v. shows, videos, etc. online (desktop) as my only means to any entertainment. I continually have problems with unexpected pauses, starts/stops, "getting stuck" & having to reboot.
I use the free version of Advanced Care Systems to "maintain" my computer. In the last month, I must used the ACS several times a day in order to watch streaming video. Something is obviously wrong. The last time I tried Google Chrome to watch, I did not have the same issues as often.
I love Firefox so I'd like to know what I can do to "fix" this problem.

  • Problem watching online videos

I can't watch some WMV videos online and can't figure out why! I use firefox 2.0.0.1 and already downloaded flip4mac, so, can someone tell me why this happens?

    Hi, João.
The videos in question may be protected with Windows Digital Rights Management (DRM), the latest versions of which are incompatible with Macs:
    • Windows Media Player 9 for Mac (WMP9) does not play Windows Media files protected with anything later than version 1.3 of Microsoft's DRM. This is documented here on Microsoft's Web site, under the heading "Support for Digital Rights Management." If the files in question use a version of Microsoft's DRM later than 1.3, they will not play in WMP9 on a Mac.
    • Flip4Mac, the replacement for WMP9, does not support any WIndows Media files encoded with Microsoft's DRM on Mac OS X. It states on this page that "Note: Flip4Mac does not support content that is protected with Windows Media digital rights management (DRM). "See also this Flip4Mac Knowledge Base article.
You need to check with the firm from which you view/download the files to determine the version of Windows DRM they employ. Information concerning available versions of Windows DRM can be found here.
Note that this is not a Mac problem: it is due to Microsoft refusing to make its DRM available on the Mac, i.e. a Microsoft business decision intended to keep you locked-in to the Windows platform.
Since you have an Intel-based Mac, you have two options for running Windows XP on your Mac, which would then permit you to view the videos in Windows:
    • Apple's Boot Camp Public Beta;
    • Parallels Desktop for Mac
along with with a copy of Windows XP.
The key difference between these is that Boot Camp requires you startup in either WIndows or Mac OS X: you can only run one OS at a time. Parallels Desktop lets you run Mac OS X and Windows simultaneously.
Both approaches have straightforward installation instructions. If I were in your position, I'd opt for Parallels Desktop given the ability to with with both operating systems simultaneously.
    Good luck!
