Problems when scheduling a report in background

Hi Guys
I have a report that has a lot of columns so i have created a display variant with 22 cols. When I run this report online (foreground) It picks up my variant and I can see all 22 cols. The problem is when I schedule this in background it does not display all the cols, the last three cols get cut off.
Any idea why this is happening?

you have to change the format in SPAD.
Go to transaction SPAD -> FULL ADMINISTRATION -> DEVICE TYPES -> FORMAT TYPES and there you can see all the available formats. Create a new format Z_65_700 in the similar manner with X_255... with a different number of columns (700) and save it.
Then in the tab DEVICE/SERVERS go to OUTPUT DEVICES and type your printer -> ENTER -> then from the Menu GOTO device type -> then there is a button FORMATS where you can see all the existing formats (plus the one you have just ctreated). Find it and choose it. Then save.
Now you have attached the new format to your printer.
The next step is simple.
You can do it the way you described, but there is also another way. Run your program with F9 and not F8 from the selection screen. It will ask you for printers, formats etc. There you will first select the appropriate printer and then (after ENTER) you have to go down to formats and select the new format. Do not print it immediatelly, click only the NEW SPOOL REQUEST checkbutton. This will create a new spool request.
If you go to SP01 you will find the number of your finished job. If you click the abap list button it will only show you collumns with up to 255 characters.
But if you take the spool number and put it as a parameters to the zzz program , it will show everything.

WebI does not return failed when scheduling a report which only holds partial results.
We have scheduled reports which take some time to run. When they are scheduled they sometimes show successful even though the report only holds partial results. The only indication is when you open the report as webi report you see the warning that it holds partial results.
When running the report manually, it works file.
The issue is not in the no of rows in the universe settings because we this unselected. The issue is that it times out.
The reason that it times out is that a lot of resources are used for loading and processing data when the report is scheduled. When running it manually, it works because at this time the serverload is less. the time in the universe is set to 10 min.
The version we have is BOXIR2-SP4.
Ok. Issue identified.
The question is - why is the report successful when it holds partial results? If this is normal behavior, noone can really trust the scheduled reports, especially when you save it to excel and send it by mail.
Is there a solution for this except increasing the allowed query time which would not solve the issu but only allow more reports to complete?

Currently this problem exists in XI R2. This feature will be part of thenext Service Pack i.e XI R2 SP6.

Hi all,
Using code (in a report1) ...i want to execute a report (report2) in background.....but at the same time i want to pass data (an internal table and a variable) to that report2.
is it possible to pass data like internal table to a executable report and at the same time pass the data to that report.

BOBJ XI R1/R2 Infoview - Validating an user log in when scheduling a report

Hello, Is it possible to validate an user input before a report gets scheduled when using BOBJ Infoview? Many times, some users forget to enter their database login info when scheduling their report and find out when it is too late that their report failed and they can get the data they wanted so badly. It would be great if javascript could be incorporated into the scheduling option in BOBJ to validate some input fields before the report get processed. Does anybody know how to do this?Thank you

Disappearing prompt when scheduling BO REPORT

Dear Gurus,
recently I am facing a problem with some BO reports. In Webi, when I try to refresh the results, I get a prompt with, let's say, five variables related to some dates. However, when I try to schedule the same report, I don't get any of them. How is that possible? Is there a difference between the way system retrieves prompts from the refresh or the scheduling section?

I normally do it, but for some reports, when I get in the prompt area of the scheduling section, I get less options. So, what I get is something like this:
PROMPT FROM "REFRESH":
Date (from):
Date (to):
Company Code:
PROMPT FROM "SCHEDULING" SECTION:
Company Code:
As you can see, no other variables are available! That is a strange behaviour!!

I am running XML Publisher 5.6.2 standalone. I am having the following issue:
I am trying to schedule a report to run sun - mon at 06:30am and email and excel file to the user. The job is failing. This is the error that we are receiving in the schedule tables.

Just to let you know we figured this one out. At some point I'd installed Crystal Reports Designer XI R1 on the server (must have service packed it as well). This is a good thing as it's helped troubleshoot various connection issues etc.
However this overwrote the prompt.dll file, the version of the new file was 11.0.0.2478. I've since installed Business Objects XI R1 on my local machine without Crystal Reports to see what the version of the prompt.dll file would be. It was 11.0.0.1282 so I replaced the newer prompt.dll with the older one and problem fixed.

Error when scheduling WebI reports in Infoview

When I shedule WebI reports in Infoview I get the error message "The target program that is required for the task i inactivated".
First I choose the report that I want to schedule. Then I rightclick and choose "Shedule" and choose "Send To" and any of the choises. The I get the error message in the subject.
We use:

On my client:
-IE 7.0.573013 or Firefox 3.0
-Win XP

HTTP 302 Error When Scheduling OEM Report

I'm trying to schedule a custom report to run out of OEM 11.1 and am receiving the below error. The report displays properly from the OEM console, but seems to get an HTTP 302 error when trying to schedule the report to run, have changed the schedule options from daily, weekly, one-time immediately, one-time later and all generate the same error. Not sure what is causing the HTTP 302 redirect during the report execution, any help is appreciated.
This is a scheduled report.
The most recently generated report completed with the following error.

Issue was related to the Console URL setting in the Grid Control Overview tab, it was set to http://<host>:<port>/em/console and should have been set to http://<host>:<port> instead.

Date error when scheduling webi reports

Hi,
When i click the prompt option in re schedule the scheduled webi report, i got the error "while trying to invoke the method java.util.date.gettime() of a null object loaded from a local variable 'date' "
The BI version is 4.1 SP03
The scheduled webi reports failing and got the error as "Unparseable date: "01/01/1900" "
How to solve this issues?

How to hide Database Logon option when scheduling Crystal Report in BOE?

Hi All,
For security reason, we are try to hide the Database Logon option in Crystal Report Schedule page in InfoView.
There is option in CMC which we can configure the default Database logon option so that users do not have to enter the logon everytime they view or schedule the report. However, we are looking to hide this option completely.
Does anyone know if there is a security setting which can hide the option from specific users?

Hi Bobby,
As Jorge informed that there is no method available within CMC to hide database logon option when scheduling or viewing a Crystal Report in the Info view. This is very much true.
But as you also mentioned that you don't want your users to enter the database logon credentials evertime they view or schedule a crystal report, there is one setting in CMC which we can do to avoid prompt for database logon credentials.
CMC - Home - Go to that specific crystal report - Click Process tab - Click the sub-tab 'Database' and at the bottom of the page there is an option "Use same database logon as when report is run". Check this option after providing the database credentials and click UPDATE.
Now whenever users try to view or schedule this specifc crystal report they won't be prompted for the database logon credentials.

Problem in Scheduling the report in Bex Broadcaster

I am trying to Schedule a report to be broadcasted daily to users through mail. When I directly execute the setting, the mail delivers fine but when I try to schedule the report by direct scheduling at some time point it doesnt work and mail is not broadcasted. Can some tell me where I am missing or is there any other setting required .

Database Credentials When Scheduling Crystal Report

In our Crystal Reports 2008 server, each user has their database credentials populated in their user account on the Crystal Reports Server.
(in the area where is says "Enable Database Credentials").
For each of our reports, we have the option "Use SSO context for database logon" selected.
This causes the server to connect to the database using each user's database credentials when they run reports "on-demand".
However, these credentials do not automatically populate when they go to schedule a report.
Is there a way to get these credentials to populate the Database Login fields when scheduling reports to run?
It seems odd to me that it would use the credentials "on-demand", but not when setting up a scheduled report.
Any info would be appreciated.

What you describe is what we currently have setup.
The difference with what I'm asking is that each user's account has different database login credentials.
So when running "on-demand", it logs in using the credentials in their account settings.
But when running "scheduled" everyone logs into the database using the default account.
We have row-level security on the database (using Oracle VPD) to enforce security based on the user account that is logged into the database.
This means that when running the report scheduled, the security doesn't work because it doesn't populate the database credentials from the user's account.

XL Reporter problem when edit the report

Dear All,
We are facing a problem regarding the xl reporter. when we tried to edit the excel reporter report, there was an error message: Automation Error. Library not registered.
Then we tried to register the com add-ins but unfortunately it wasn't succesful. After we select the IXXLReporter.dll it wasn't display in COM Add-Ins window.
Do you have any idea what's the problem?

In order to try to resolve the issue, could you please reinstall XL reporter
addon as per Note 819501.
Also please make sure that you are using the correct version of Microsoft
office application as per the supported platform available in the service
market place.
