Problems when zooming to 100%

I've been playing with the cs6 beta for a few days (mostly ACR) and today I started working on photoshop proper to retouch an image I took, when I zoom to 100% all I get is artifacts and repeating patterns like its not displaying the image correctly. If I zoom in even further it justs zooms on the pattern it had. If I zoom out to 50% I see my image as if nothing has happened

mmm haven't had any problems with my vid card until this last driver update, still I'm in xp and my comp is a little old. Anyways I was asking if anyone else has the same problem and if there was another solution than to just update my vid card drivers...

  • White border problem when zooming with SWF in PDF

    Hi Everyone,
I have posted my original querry in the Indesign forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5176893#5176893
I'm having problems with zooming whedn trying to create a PDF with SWF inserted.. at certain levels of zoom I get a white border on the left and right of the document which squashes the content into the middle and makes it a little pixelated.  I also get a thin white border on the right when zooming out.  Does anyone have any ideas where I might be going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Em

Not wishing to be rude, but that workflow is not supposed to be used that way.
InDesign's ability to export SWFs is intended for showing the file in a Web page, and Acrobat's ability to embed SWFs is only intended for small annotations placed within the pages of a conventional PDF file. By placing the entire Layout as a SWF you are in effect playing the entire thing as a movie in Flash Player - all the advantages of the PDF format are completely lost, there is no vector-rendering of any content or text, and users will find it very hard to understand what's going on (the navigation buttons in Acrobat or Reader will not work, text is not searchable or accessible, multiple pages cannot be printed, etc.).
It's not entirely trivial to do this 'correctly', as at the moment we don't have full support in the PDF standard for all the interactive features that InDesign can apply to page objects - that's why they are grouped into PDF and non-PDF in the various selection menus in InDesign. Rather than saving as a SWF you should be using Export to Interactive PDF, and ensuring that the various interactive items and media are all selected on the export dialog.
Basic stuff such as links and video will export just fine that way, and the PDF will preserve everything else in the Layout as native text or graphics so it'll look fine, navigate properly and be searchable. Animations and buttons will not work as expected, so you may have to revise their behavior if PDF is your intended output destination.

  • Repair Tool Performance Problem when Zoom on Image

    Aperture Friends,
I experience a huge performance hit when editing images with the Repair/Clone tool only when "zoomed" into an image. The curious part is that the repair while "zoomed in" function works fine for about 3 images, then from the 4th image on, the software grinds to almost a complete stop for several seconds after selection a source point and trying to use the repair. The mouse cursor even changes to a spinning rainbow DVD look during this time.
These are 15-20MB Raw files from a Canon 5d and we are using the most recent version of AP on a nearly brand new iMac 27", of course with Snow L, and all patches applied. The library is less than 20GB and we are not using Reference files as of yet.
I realize that these may be large files, but it is curios that it works with blazing speed to start with, then degrades.
Is this a common problem, or an identified issue? Might you more experienced folks know a resoulution?

    hi!
i'm experiencing a similar problem on my imac i5 with the difference it is slow all the time. even after a reboot it's quite impossible to use the clone/repair tool. my library is about 40GB with referenced files (all on external HD fw800). i work with a 5D Mk II (which is still not supported for tethered shooting, by the way!).
(sorry if i nicked your thread )
    best regards,

  • Problem when zooming in on a PDF in iBooks

In iBooks, when pinching to zoom in on (enlarge) a section of certain PDFs, entire square or rectangular sections of the document go completely black or white, rendering that portion unreadable until I zoom back out. Sometimes, leaving iBooks and then returning fixes the problem, only to resurface on another page of the document. Sometimes nothing fixes it and I just have to quit iBooks and hope it doesn't resurface on next launch. See the screencaps below.

I have this same problem and it's been drving me nuts for months.
    Any solutions appreciated, guys.

  • Fringe does not go away when zooming out

    Hello,
I am using the following set up" Adobe lightroom v2.6, processing raw files from a pentax k10D
I have an image with a noticeable fringe green-yellow fringe between a red rock and a grey-blue sky.
To fix the fringe, I zoomed in to 1:1, and applied a chromatic abberation correction of blue/yellow +60.  This seemed to fix the problem when zoomed in at 1:1
However, when I pull back out to view the whole image fitted to the display screen (a 22" MAC screen), the fringe is again visible.  When I zoom in again, the fringe is momentarily visible at the magnified scale, and then disapears; it is as though the correction were being applied only when zooming is in effect.
I am concnered that when I try to print the image, the fringing will appear.
Can anyone recommend solutions to this issue?
    With thanks,

This is normal. In the Develop module, Lightroom does not apply any of the pixel level edits (sharpening, noise reduction, CA correction) to the zoomed out view. It does this to not make you wait for 10 seconds every time you touch a slider to wait for the entire image to render, but it only quickly renders a low-resolution image. Since a computer screen is very low resolution this makes sense as it is very difficult (actually impossible) except in really extreme cases to accurately preview the effects of these sliders at such low resolution. If you switch back to Library, you will see that Lightroom will render a new jpeg preview where it will employ the corrections and there you should not see the fringe anymore even zoomed out, So don't worry, the print will not have the fringe as for printing (excet draft mode) it always renders the image completely from the RAW file taking all your settings into account.

  • Problem with Bridge CS6 and zooming to 100%

When I click on a file to zoom to 100% it zooms to 800%. I had the same problem in CS5 and fixed it by deleting the com.adobe.bridge.plist, but this does not work with CS6 and I don't even find the plist. I have a Mac with OS X 10.8.2. I found two plists, com.adobe.CSXS.3 and com.adobe.CSXS2Preferences but it didn't fix the problem deleting them.
I use the zoom function alot and would be very grateful if someone could help me. I do not like the preview workspace with the little 100% window, I prefer zooming to 100% by clicking on the file.

It does not work on a Mac, and they have only one set og +/-, at least my Macbook Pro has.
That is a bit strange, it always has worked for that way on both my Mac Pro and my MacBook.
I can use the scroll wheel on my mouse to enlarge the 100 % preview from loupe in preview window to 200, 400 and 800% but also the + and - keys from both my qwerty key board and the number pad of my extended keyboard for the same result.
Hitting tab for full screen preview I don't even have to click, both aforementioned + and - keys set to 100%, 200, 400 and 800% as well my scroll wheel.
All those methods work on both MacPro and MacBook.

  • Banding problems with CS3 at 100% zoom

Just upgraded from CS2 to CS3: I always shoot in RAW, then zoom in 100% in RAW converter to check quality. I also work in 16 bit and using CS2 the tonal gradation is brilliant. However the same photo opened with CS3 Bridge shows banding when I zoom in. Same happens when I convert and open the image in Photoshop. Great in CS2, banding appears in CS3.
    Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks for the reply Christopher. I did check colour settings, but good idea. I'm happy to say I've resolved it myself, having wasted 2 days with the Adobe support line.
Figured it had to be something to do with the screen so changed to a higher resolution and that seemed to cure it. Even so, I thought somethings not right. Read the 'Readme' notes more carefully and spotted the paragraph about updating my graphics card driver. I did this and now seems to be working fine.

  • Transparency problems when I distort Pdf image size (ie: 100%x99%) then Export. Is there away to fix

I sometimes have transparency problems when I distort PDF image size (i.e.: 100%x99%) then Export. Is there away to fix.   Or at least be able to preflight and know I have an issue.

Mostly I have seen borders and drop shadows that will just go away or other wise not print right but only when I distort the image and only on very complicated large PDF images.  When I print it at same % both horz and vert. this problem goes away.

  • Text Moves When Zooming/Printing

    Hi everyone,
My wife is going to school for graphic design and is having a huge problem with InDesign. When placing text in very precise locations, the text moves when she zooms in/out significantly. Even when it shows the text being in the perfect location at 100% (although it is not perfect when zooming in or out), it will be moved when the file is exported as a PDF or printed. Needless to say this is causing major problems for her. We have already reset the program preferences with no luck. She is using the Design Premium CS5.5 version of InDesign on a MacBook Pro with OSX Lion.
As a side note, I tried the same tasks on my Windows 7 PC with Design Standard CS5 with no problems. We compared the program settings and made sure there were no differences but it still happened on her Mac. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    Aaron

    Hi everyone,
I'm really sorry for the delay. I took screenshots at each zoom where the type shifted. Here are the screenshots:
    @4000%
    @300%
    @125%
    @100%
The reason that I don't believe it is simply monitor inconsistencies is due to the fact that whether I align the type at 4000% or 100%, the print still doesn't match the on-screen display. If I align at 100%, the print is still off by the same amount as these screenshots. Thanks again for your help.

  • Blacks are Clipping in Aperture when zoomed in?

My monitor (iMac 20", last Matte generation) is calibrated using the Huey, and it works great except for this one problem, in which Raw files are displayed with some sort of black clipping when viewed at 100% or full screen size. However, the correct blacks can be seen in the Loupe, here is an example:
    http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u219/snwyatt/ApertureProblem1.jpg
I have been plagued by this in every version of Aperture since 1.5.x to the newest, 2.0.1. The problem has been narrowed down to the Huey profile, and how it is read by Aperture, because every other profile (default iMac, manually calibrated iMac, etc) has proper consistency between the all levels of zoom and the loupe.
It doesn't look too bad in these images, but it also leads to harsh gradients and extra noise, which are a hassle to deal with. The images show the proper blacks when exported as a Tiff or other jpeg. And it is not the Raw file format (.cr2), it does the same thing with every Raw format I've thrown at it.
Any suggestions? The colours are spot on with the Huey and I love Aperture, but this issue has been driving me nuts.

2.2 gamma is fine for monitor calibration with Aperture (it's even what Apple/Aperture recommends).
Your problem may be tied into the type of monitor profile you are creating. I had an issue in 2006 with Aperture v1.1.x. It turned out that Aperture was fine with Matrix monitor profiles but it did not like LUT monitor profiles.
When I created a LUT monitor profile then I got shadows blocking up and posterizing in Aperture.
I have not checked to see if this problem was corrected in 10.5 or in Aperture 2.0, possibly not because it sounds like what you are describing.
Here's the thread from last spring:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=469271&tstart=0
As I recall from the time too (in other threads on the forum) there where issues with the Huey that Shea is describing. It only created LUT type profiles and did not have options in its software (Spring, '06) for matrix type profiles.
For example, a MacBeth/X-Rite Eye-one Photo with Eye-one Match 3.6.x gives you the option to output either Matrix display profiles (the default) or LUT display profiles.

  • Problem when flatten layers

    Hi,
I have some problems with flattening layers. I'll show it to you simplified with two layers. You can download the psd-file(22MB) here:http://www.creativ-fotografie.de/files/flatten_layer_prob.psd.
One layer is for a nice and soft vignetting (darkening the corners) in blend mode "vivid light".
The other layer is with lots of blue Ones and Zeros on black background representing a binary code.
When flattening the image, the vignetting disappears partly and I only have a sharp circular shape.
Similar effects happen with different blend modes. It seems to me the effect only appears with complex structures and high resolutions.
I realized the problem, when I was about to save the image as jpeg.
    Any ideas?
    Martin

I just looked at your file in Photoshop CS3 and find the same thing as you...the sharp edges. I tried the workaround that I normally use when this type of thing happens and that didn't work. This made me really curious. I reopened your file as is...layered without touching anything...and changed the view to 100% zoom which is the only true view as all other zooms are approximations. I found at 100% view, the edges of the circle are sharp to begin with...the viginette is an illusion.
BTW, my workaround when things don't flatten or merge correctly is to make a composite layer before flattening the image. To make a composite layer, press ctrl + shift + alt + E keys at the same time if on PC. If on a Mac, change that shortcut to cmd + shift + opt + E.

  • 1ds MK III images corrupt when viewed at 100%

Hi using Aperture 2.1 all my 1ds MK III images are corrupt when viewed at 100% even when viewed with the loupe but display fine when seen in preview mode and at reduced size and they export ok.
I have reinstalled aperture, 10.5.2 and the graphics update. Im using 2 X 2.8 Quad with 2600 xt card.
    Any ideas?

I am having the same trouble! All of my Canon 1Ds MarkIII raw file has the problem.
Tested on my Mac Pro 2.8 Radeon 2600, and iMac 24 Radeon card. Both have the same problem. When I hit zoom, I see exactly the same problem: http://gallery.mac.com/krux#100170
I have all the updates 10.5.2, aperture 2.0.1. Now I'm doesn't able to work with Aperture...
Please download my Canon 1Ds Mark III Raw file, and test it in Aperture 2:
http://www.handras.hu/stuff/0G7J6343CR2.zip (20.6 MB, 16 bit uncompressed Raw file)
If U have a Ati radeon card, and make straighten crop, or zoom, the picture should messed up
If U have nVidia, everything will be perfect.

  • I met problem when installing Oracle 8.1.6 on Turbo Linux 7.0

I met problem when installing Oracle 8.1.6 on Turbo Linux 7.0.
After setting up environment variables, and successfully
accessed KDE interface, everything was going on well.
The process of installation blocked at 80% in "Database Creation

I have tried two times and got the same result.
    The error message is:
Warning: Cannot convert string "-*-Kochi Gothic-medium-r-normal-

    Help!

I have done some oracle installations over RedHat 7.0 (not certificated):
    Let's check some things:
1- You must have changed very few parameters on your shm.h sem.h files which are in /usr/include/linux directory.
2- You need to upgrade the glibc and libstdc libraries (.rpm)
3- You must have installed the jre116_v5 on /usr/jre and made a symbolic link like this
    ln -s /usr/jre/jre116_v5 /usr/local/jre
4- You must include in the CLASSPATH parameter the jre116_v5 directory. It should look something like this
    CLASSPATH=/usr/jre/jre116_v5:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib
5- Be sure to create and export all the parameters in your .bash_profile.
6- Run the ./runInstaller.sh in a terminal window inside the Xwindow.
You can find the jre116_v5 in www.backdown.org
I hope these tips help you
