Problems with a adaptec ash-1233 card

i am tryin to install a pci card in my computer so i can use the full 200 gigs of my HD and this is the only pci/ ata adapter card i could find. does anyone know how i can get this to work with my computer that i have now? i have a blue and white g3 350 that is amost stock. any info would help thank you very much.

and there's still problems with them. I know, because I'm dealing with a tempo 133 "failing on me" with the OS upgrade to 10.4.x.
There's an additional mystery failure of my original HD (IBM Daystar 40 gig) with the update as well.
I've found some references for this to be not uncommon.
There's a firmware flash updater available that solves the ata card problem
but it'll only function in OS 9 ! <SIIG AND ACARD for DL>
I haven't tried it yet, but I thought I would share the info I've dug up thus far.
I get the feeling that "they" really want people to spend more $$$
on getting a SATA card and new HD's to solve the problem.

When I play video formats like xvid, mkv, avi iMac freezes and emits horrible sound,in service said the problem is not overheating. You could look at the System Profile for the info it presents for the card. But why wouldn't you think it's not up to date if you have the latest install (according to your sig above)?
What program are you trying to run? Is there anything in the system log?
I think it's the program that's having the problem and not anything with your video software.

Hello. I have a strange problem with my controllercard. I wrote this text to InnoVision suport and they send me files and bios updates for a whole week and it was still the same problem. And then i tried the card in an older computer and everything worked fine.

It's still the same problem in my computer. The older computer had a MSI moderboard with a VIA chip and i have a nForce 3. InnoVison said i should talk to you about this problem. I have 3 harddrives but i use this controllercard because i want to have my computer overclocked and then i can't use 2 of the sata ports as i think you know.
I would be very thankful if you could help me with this problem.

I've used a noname SATA pci card (non raid) with SIL3112 on my neo2 without problems with 1C bios.
Think you may try with a disk lower than 48bitLBA need (137GB barrier), eg a 120GB disk

I doubt it has anything to do with your motherboard and/or bios.
Btw: I looked at innovision and their drivers in download area are very old.
Get the latest SIL3112 drivers for XP here:

And remember 3112 is sata150 only , so it's not sure it will work with your drive at all .
Anyway it should be set to fixed sata1.5G with jumper - not certain the controller can autonegotiate
without trouble. You cannot have command queing enabled either , disk support only NCQ and controller TCQ
so having command queing set ON will cause major conflicts in data transfers.

Yep. The video is integrated into the motherboard so you would need to replace the motherboard on that model. Unless you can do it yourself it will probably cost almost as much to fix it as it would to just buy another laptop.

Here is my /var/log/messages.log output.
Since several days my computer repeatedly restarts programs that require at least a bit memory, such as firefox ('segmentation fault'), skype, virtualbox, generaly gnome 3 environment. Sometimes it happens that the system hangs and I can't do nothing, although I can hear that hard disk is working - at that moment only hard reset helps.
I know that the Dell Inspiron laptops (1720) have problems with Nvidia 8600M GT (the cold solder). Is it like that this time? Or maybe something wrong with the memory, CPU (Core Duo) cache memory?
I will be happy to add any additional information.

Problems with SD (or other) Memory card. Won't work in reader

I bought a Sandisk Ultra II SD card (2GB) and it wouldn't work in my Lacie reader.
When I plugged it in, I got the device not recognized message, asking if I wanted to initialize or eject. Initializing with Disk Utility did NOT work.
The reader works fine with 512MB and 1GB sd cards.
So, I went to a friend who has the latest Lacie reader (and an intel iMac) and it worked great over there. I borrowed the reader and it works great on my PM G5.
Conclusion: With the new fast and/or large capacity cards, you may need to upgrade your reader. If possible go to an apple store and see if your memory card works in a reader there, just to be sure, before purchasing!

Try initializing the card in the camera in which it will be used. This often gives more consistent results, and is recommended over letting the Mac format the card.

HP Probook 6540b problem with fan speed and sound card

I have installed Arch 32bit on probook 6540b (it has core i5 processor). Cpufrequtils works well - with governor set on ondemand frequency is adjusting correctly but fun is running max speed all the time. I have tried to configure lm_sensors but it doesn`t detect any sensors. Also fun folder in acpi is empty. It would be great if You could help me.

I have another problem with sound on this laptop. I have IDT 92HD75B3X5 sound chip and snd-hda-intel module loaded for it but it doesn`t make any sound. In Amarok it looks like something is playing because progress bar is moving. I have tried everything from arch wiki and other sources but nothing works. Maybe You can help?

Hi. Yes. I also tried all tricks with model etc. and nothing. Now I have installed oss and have some progress. I have sound on pcm2 when I run osstest, no sound on pcm1 (but it looks in test like it plays something) and input/output errors from pcm3 to pcm7. I have oss output in multimedia in kde and when I run test I can see moving strips or something (I dont know the word for it ) in ossxmix but I hear nothing. I I tried all configurations in ossxmix and nothing.

Problems with BIOS for new graphics card!!! HEEELP!!!!

Hello,I just recently received my new graphics card (Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960), and I am having some troubles getting it to work with my computer (p7-1072sc). I go myself a new PSU (Crossair CX600M), istalled it properly, pluged all the components up and put in the new GPU. Every time I turn on the PC, it freezes at the blue HP loading screen and does not respond to any keys.After some google searching I found out that I most likley would have to update my BIOS, so I went to the HP homepage. Entered my modelnumber, downloaded the new BIOS update (My current version was 7.14 13.10.2011), the update said the version was 7.15 05.25.2013. I downloaded the exe file, closed all other programs and ran the file. I started out as normal, but as the main installationprocess started I got the message that hpprobar3 stoped working. The computer freezed for a short while and then I got the message that the new BIOS had bin successfully installed, so I restarted the comuter. After that I checked back on the systems information and the version had bin changed to 7.15, but the date was still 13.10.2011. I tried the same rpocess again and the same thing happened. I ried again to put in the new GPU, and it still froze on the blue HP loading screen. I also tried to find the directory for the BIOS file (sp55548.exe) (to make a flash installation), under c:/swsetup, but I only found one folder named sp68021. Can anyone help me with this?? I would really appreciate any advice sort of advice!!!
PS: I am pretty new to all this stuff, so please be patient and explain any technical informoation or terms.

As stated before, and as a refresher. I just got off the line with MSI and EVGA. What you have is a Legacy motherboard. It can not function with a UEFI BIOS graphic card. That said:MSI (Greg): The 750Ti NF has a switch for Legacy/UEFI. All others in the 700 series are UEFI. The 900 series, plus the R7, R9 ship with the new VBIOS, a hybrid that detects the correct BIOS (Legacy/UEFI). EVGA (Kayon): All 600 and 700 except the 750Ti are Legacy.

Problem with the ATI 200M graphics card in a Satellite A110-334

The computer is used both for office and home use (playing games, music etc)
Only one problem after 6 months of use, but I can't get around it.
When I start up Quake 3 all is well I can play for let's say 10-20 mins.
After that I get a Blue Screen of Death saying that there was some memory error connected with the graphic card.
Windows "tells me" to change the video card (it's not something i can do with a laptop ;) ) or to contact the hardware producer to change the bios because something could be wrong.
Well only think I could do on my own was to change the drivers (I found some compatible with my card) but that didn't help. I also tried to change the amount of onboard memory used by the card (It uses x amount of available RAM), but to no avail

Maybe it helps. Otherwise you should send your machine to an authorized service partner for a hardware checkup since your machine is still in warranty and it wont cost you anything.

Problem with recognising radeon 6490M graphics card on Pavilion dv6-6176sa

So,
My laptop was having some issues recently with the graphics, it basically wouldn't recognise either the intel or the radeon graphics card. I tried updating all drivers under the sun but nothing worked. In the end I formatted my computer and reinstalled windows, did all necessary updates windows and HP ones. Now my laptop would recognise both the intel and radeon in device manager but my computer was constantly using the intel card, I read up a bit and figured this would be due to an issue with the switchable graphics.
I did the bios and drivers updates and changed switchable graphics to fixed mode, this seemed to do the trick and my laptop ran like it should be for a few days. This morning I start watching some of my shows and then my screen freezes and it starts making a bunch of noise (similar to what it was doing pre-factory reset). Oh dear, I turn it off, and leave it off for a bit figuring maybe it had overheated. I turn it on again, now device manager wont show the radeon card and AMD catalyst produces a warning message saying that there is no AMD driver compatible with the CCC (well it was just fine yesterday, no updates, program installations or anything run since then)
I'm now wondering whether there may just be a hardware issue and that it's time to pack in my laptop or if this could still be a driver issue.

Download and install the most current AMD graphics softpaq.
You can get it from the download section of your notebook's web support portal.
Do not install the Intel graphics driver softpaq seperately. Doing that will remove the switchable graphics feature.

Problem with Plugging in Compact Flash Card

I am having a problem now when I plug my compact flash card in to download pictures. When I plug the card in, the AutoPlay window pops up, as it always does. However, I also get another window that pops up and says "Lightroom must quit because catalog named Lightroom Catalog.lrcat is not writeable and cannot be opened. This could be caused by incorrect permissions or because another Lightroom application is using the catalog. You may select a different catalog the next time you run Lightroom by holding down the control key while Lightroom launches."
This problem started yesterday. I had just upgraded to LR 3.5 the day before the problem started.
Couple of other things:
1. Lightroom was not launched at the time I plug in the card and this problem has occurred. In fact, I just restarted my system a shortwhile ago to test this problem, and it happened again.
2. My Lightroom catalog is actually called Lightroom 3 Catalog.lrcat, not Lightroom Catalog.lrcat.
3. I have never had my system set up to automatically launch Lightroom when my card is plugged in.
4. I have not actually downloaded any pictures from a card for about 2 weeks before I did yesterday, so I cannot say for certain whether or not LR 3.5 is the cause of the problem and perhaps something else is. But the fact is that I did upgrade to LR 3.5 a few days ago.
5. Once I close both the AutoPlay window and the LR dialogue window, I can launch LR 3.5 with no problem and import pictures as I normally do.

Quicksilver 2002 1GHz DP - problems with replacement of dual processor card

About 9 months ago my QS2002 seemed to be running slower & would quit DVD player if I tried to start it in full screen; it would play broken green lines before doing so - although it seemed to be OK if I started in small view & switched to full screen once it had got going. Eye TV would randomly freeze too. Diagnostics said it had failed - the external cache was the problem. In "About this Mac" the 2MB L3 cache wasn't showing up. I spoke to a few people & they all thought it pointed to 1 of the processors failing on the daughter card so I kept an eye on eBay to try & get a replacement- which I did a few weeks ago.
I followed Sonnets instructions on how to change the processor card but on start up it only started for long enough to see that it had failed diagnostics with the same message as previously. It then had a kernel panic & refused to restart - either not progressing past the apple sign with a frozen cog or freezing if it got as far as OSX. I took out the replacement card & put the original one back. It booted without problem & was now registering the L3 cache & had passed the diagnostics test. I don't really understand why or how this was possible - did the card just need reseating?
The seller was very helpful & sent another card. - this time it had a kernel panic as it started & brought up something resembling the command page in Windows saying that there was a graphic chip error.
At this point I gave up, replaced the original card - which is still booting & passing diagnostics.
So are all replacement QS2002 1GHz DP cards not the same - any ideas why neither of these worked (the labels on them were very similar to the original)? Would I have similar problems if I tried an upgrade Sonnet or Newertech card? Did I miss something when changing the cards over & why did taking a card out and replacing it fix its external cache problem?

There will be different production runs, as well as different assembly lines, different component suppliers, different runs of processor chips.
Otherwise, architecturally, they are all the same.
Any OEM QS daughter card of any speed can be used in any QS.

Possibly they were already no good.
The DP 1GHz is an excellent processor, but failure of one processor chip or cache is not that uncommon.
Further, used parts are always a risk as to health.
Would I have similar problems if I tried an upgrade Sonnet or Newertech card?
You should not, as long as the proper firmware patches are run prior to installation.

It could very well have been the process of removing and reinstalling that solved your problem.
Reseating of the CPU daughter card is a proper troubleshooting step, and can solve problems due to connection issues within one or more of the 300 pins.......

Problem with Airport. NO AIRPORT CARD INSTALLED

You could try resetting the SMC and the PRAM. But I suspect the Airport card in your Mac has gone Bye Bye, died. The only way to fix that, If the 2 resets I posted above don't help, is to replace the Airport card.

Problem with using DSA signatures ON CARD

I've encountered a rather really wierd problem using DSA signatures on a java card applet.
I just create the key using these two lines and i get a response which is not supposed to happen...

when i jus execute this portion(there shudn be a response coz i've written 4 one) but this is the unexpected trace on the shell

Please throw some light if anyone knows anythin or solved some issue like this before...

Problem with KTV3 and PCI USB card extension from QTEC type 13068

Hello all,
I have been trying to make work a PCI USB card extension from QTEC type 13068. This card allows to give 4 USB ports more.
My problem is that oinly 2 ports are working and WINXP SP1 is saying that there are not enough ressources for all the PCI functions. However there is enough free IRQ. Even using this card alone on the mainboard give the same error.
I am using a KTV3 (MS-6712 VER:1.0A) and I have no idear why this is happening. Could it be a bad interaction between the BIOS and the card? wall Or WIN XP? angryfire
All comments and ideas to try are welcome especially from those who have this QTEC card.

What operating system are you using? The card requires SP1 for XP and SP4 for 2000. If you have these, try to uninstal the cardl and let Windows reinstall the card on start-up.
