Problems with a free space on C: drive - Nokia N97

Greetings to everyoneMy phone tells me that his C: drive is full and ask me to delete some data from his. Thats nice, but when i accessing C: drive (of phone) via PC suite or file manager on the phone i can't see any huge files on it. But memory description tells me that there is 68 or something like that megabytes of messages on it. I has been setup email client with imap access to the server. Laster on i has found that he store all messages on C: drive and changed to Mass memory, but after i tell phone delete it in old place he didnt done it. The question - Why? and hw to manage it? I didnt found any solution, so i reseted phone totally (

You need to sort this out as low memory causes all sorts of other problems
the situation arises from two factors:
1. The phone comes overloaded with junk installed onto C
2. Because you won't yet know the phone's idiosyncrasies, you will do things to eat up C memory.
the (or at least my solution which has worked for at least three days - good going in n97 land) solution.
1. Fantasise that Nolia will send you meaningful help by email
2. Wake up
3. Back up your user data (contacts, images, sounds etc) onto a card or off the phone.
4. Hard reset if you're feeling brave and then Reformat E
5. Re-install firmware
6. Reformat E (just to be certain)
7. Practice safe installation by making sure everything stores or saves to E
8. You will need Y-browser from Dr.Jukka  (who I imagine fleeing through the Finnish night pursued by .....), any way: http://tinyurl.com/yuw58e
9. Phone Info app to tell you how much memory
10. Keep checking that messaging hasn't gone back to c again
there are other less radical and probably more sensible routes, I chose this to make sure nothing popped up to respawn problems

Help please I can't save any documents now! Thanks in advance all, it is truly appreciated. how can find the hidden temporary files using the terminal what do i type in?

It's more likely a failed Erase Free Space, which creates a huge temporary file; that's why it looks like you have no more available drive space. You can recover from this. See these links

  • Any thoughts on tackling a lack of free space on hard drive?

Photoshop Elements 9 has left me with little free space on my hard drive.  Per my conversation with Adobe tech support, an external hard drive (which I currently do not own) should not be used to run Photoshop 9, but rather I should move my pictures there. (I have several "hundreds of pictures in jpeg).   I would think that this is OK for editing, whereby I'm only working with one picture at a time.  If I follow Adobe's suggestion, wouldnt I essentially be eliminating the Organizer function once the pictures are moved to an external drive?  Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Some of the newer PC's don't have internal drive space because they have raid'ed drives.
I purchased 3 external 1Tb drives, 2 at home 1 at my office and I backup (never mind how to the office, that's a whole other thing) to one at home and one at the office -- and my phots are on the other 1Tb at home.
They cost me $99 each, but shortly after they become $69 each -- not much given the cost of the photos!

  • Erasing Free Space on boot drive

I am getting ready to sell my older Mac Book Air with a SSD.  I would like to erase all free space on the drive to assure that any confidential data I hadn't securely deleted earlier is not recoverable.  In my most recent cleanup, I moved all my own files and installed apps to the trash and attempted to empty the trash securely.  When the number of files to be removed was down to 30,000 (from neaerly 100,000) it stopped securely removing them.  I rebooted several times and those files were still in the trash.  I attempted each time to securely empty the trash.  It would pop up the progress dialog box but would immeidately close it cleaning up nothing.  Finally, I switched to non-secure and emptied the Trash.
I've done to the Disk Utility, selected the SSD Drive (Macintosh HD) and selected the Erase tab.  The Erase Free Space button is disabled.  How can I securely clean up the free space so that whoever buys the system will not be able to recover whatever, confidential data may still be hanging around in the free disk space list?
    Thanks,

read this article, it is outdated, but the info in it is still relevant: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24002.   Do a 7 pass erase. That conformed to the U.S. Department of Defense's security procedures until they changed their rules to that of completely destroying hard drives physically instead.

    Obviously the solut

I thanks people that gave their suggestion, but unfortunately these are not
    what I was looking for.
The runcommand does not redirect output to a textdata but accept the name
of an output file in a textdata, and in win95 it doesn't exists a grep
    command.
The thing that bother me is that if I use the environment console, open the
machine agent and look up the instruments i find the volumes into it,
afterwards having done this operation I manage to find the volume agents
form the machine one even from tool program.
It is clear that the e-console issues some commands during the instrument
menu of the machine that I miss, but perhaps are available from tool.
Does someone from Forte knows how to reproduce the same commands of
instrument menu in tool (I was told that e-console was written using forte
    so...)?
    TIA

  • Problem reading available free space on HD

Second time this has happened this week. Computer begins to lag, so I run Disk Utility and repair prmissions. Then I verify the disc. See attached screenshot for the result. I've ran disk utility from startup and everything began to work normally until this morning. I attemped to verify disk and got the same result that the drive was corrupt. It seems the issue has something to do with determining the correct free space on the drive... any ideas? Thanks.

First, repairing permissions, althout hugely popular, is a waste of time unless you have a specific indication of a permission error involving system files, which you don't and probably never will.
Live verification of the startup volume in Disk Utility sometimes produces false errors. Boot from your recovery partition (command-R at startup), launch Disk Utility from the Recovery desktop, and run "Repair Disk" (not "Repair Permissions.") If you get the same error and it's repaired, repeat. Also select the icon of the internal drive above the volume icon and check the SMART status in the bottom of the window. If it's not "Verified," the drive has to be replaced immediately. If you get real directory errors more than once in quick succession, you have a hardware fault in the mass-storage subsystem, regardless of the SMART status.

  • How do I get Finder windows to display free space on hard drive?

In Snow Leopard if you opened a Finder window, at the bottom it would show how much free space your hard drive had left.  Lion by default does not do this.  Is there a way where I can turn that option on so i can view space availible when opening Finder windows?

Stop blaming yourself. You're not an idiot and it's never the user's fault. It's always the designer's fault. Read "The Design of Everyday Things' by Donald Norman. It's a gerat book about how everyday things can be just difficult to use. He's been also a former Apple employee. Great reading!

  • Problem with a Toshiba PX1267E 320 external drive

    Hello all
I have a problem with a Toshiba px1267e 320 external drive, when all was ok with it I would switch on and the blue led would come on and change blue /violet as it was found on my laptop, a small vibration could be felt if I handled the case indicating that the d/d motor was on.
On that fateful morning I switched on did an explore in my computer and found no ext drive, checked the drive blue led on touched the case could detect no vibration, unclipped the drive from the case put my ear to it heard faint clicking.
I removed device and connected to caddie, this time I could feel the motor going, connected to laptop, new hardware found did my computer explore and found no drive, checked device manager and found it so I uninstalled and reconnected usb with same result.
I am not sure what do next.
I had a word with computer shop if they could recover a while I wait they said at least a 6 hour job if possible (dont want to leave at shop)
Bought me another western digital same model no and also new power supply to try swapping the electronics board just in case therein lies the fault /or possible us power/s but I am clutching at straws here.
Any of you guys here got anything like this happen ? any suggestions?
I am curious to know what they would try in the shop to recover although he said he couldn't guarantee results.
I would welcome any helpful suggestions (not throw it in the bin)

I think the external HDD is dead
Maybe its a head crash this would explain the faint clicking and other noises
Unfortunately, I such case you can do nothing

G5 Single core 1.8GHz stop working. I was told that there is a problem with the connection to the hard drive.
It boots but freezes after a few minutes and fans go full blast.....
Is this a logicboard problem, or something that can be fixed with a little work?

    Hi j hallow-
Whose diagnosis declared a bad connection?
Have you opened it up and looked inside? It may need to be cleaned out.

I had problems with my MacBook pro's hard drive. And I have this question how can I end up getting a replacement for it like get a new one.

The recycle program makes it easier for you to trade in your old Mac and buy a new one. Apple has a partner that will take the old one and give you a gift card for the value -- if your old Mac is in pretty good condition and doen't have problems (passes the diagnostics).

  • Problem with ytdump-200.6.1.1-1377716466. It is a, "Yahoo crash log", uses up all free space on C: drive

    Your Question:
Ever since my firefox was updated to be more compatible with Yahoo I have a terrible problem with ytdump-200.6.1.1-1377716466. It is a, "Yahoo crash log dump", that fills up all the free space on my C: drive drive, no matter when and how many times I erase it, and no matter what I remove from the C: drive.

What was involved in making Firefox more compatible with Yahoo? Assuming that the "yt" part stands for Yahoo Toolbar, you could disable that temporarily to see whether that resolves the issue.
    Try here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Disable the Yahoo toolbar(s) and if a link appears to restart Firefox, click that as the last step.
Note: if you have any unsubmitted forms you are working on, it's probably best to finish your work before restarting Firefox.
