Problems with a java bean in Weblogic 5.1

Hello,
          I am having a problem deploying a java bean in Weblogic 5.1:
          I have been given a .class and a .jar file for a java bean (not an EJB). I
          placed the .class file into e:\temp\WEB-INF\classes and added the following
          line to my weblogic.properties file:
          weblogic.httpd.webApp.testApp=e:/temp/
          I have also updated the web.xml file in the WEB-INF directory as follows:
          <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
          <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web
          Application 1.2//EN"
          "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd">
          <web-app>
          <servlet>
          <servlet-name>EdIface</servlet-name>
          <jsp-file>test.jsp</jsp-file>
          </servlet>
          <servlet-mapping>
          <servlet-name>EdIface</servlet-name>
          <url-pattern>EdIface</url-pattern>
          </servlet-mapping>
          </web-app>
          When I try to access my http:\\server:port\testApp\test I get an "Error
          500 - internal server error".
          Has anyone had experice with deploying a java bean with jsut the .class and
          .jar file? Where should I put the .jar file?
          I appreciate any advice!

  • A simple problem with sateful Session beans

    Hi,
    I have a really novice problem with stateful session bean in Java EE 5.
    I have written a simple session bean which has a counter inside it and every time a client call this bean it must increment the count value and return it back.
    I have also created a simple servlet to call this session bean.
    Everything seemed fine I opened a firefox window and tried to load the page, the counter incremented from 1 to 3 for the 3 times that I reloaded the page then I opened an IE window (which I think is actually a new client) but the page counter started from 4 not 1 for the new client and it means that the new client has access to the old client session bean.
    Am I missing anything here???
    Isnt it the way that a stateful session bean must react?
    This is my stateful session bean source.
    package test;
    import javax.ejb.Stateful;
    @Stateful
    public class SecondSessionBean implements SecondSessionRemote
    private int cnt;
    /** Creates a new instance of SecondSessionBean */
    public SecondSessionBean ()
    cnt=1;
    public int getCnt()
    return cnt++;
    And this is my simple client site servlet
    package rezaServlets;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.*;
    import javax.ejb.EJB;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import test.SecondSessionRemote;
    public class main extends HttpServlet
    @EJB
    private SecondSessionRemote secondSessionBean;
    protected void processRequest (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
    throws ServletException, IOException
    response.setContentType ("text/html;charset=UTF-8");
    PrintWriter out = response.getWriter ();
    out.println("<html>");
    out.println("<head>");
    out.println("<title>Servlet main</title>");
    out.println("</head>");
    out.println("<body>");
    out.println("<h1>Our count is " + Integer.toString (secondSessionBean.getCnt ()) + "</h1>");
    out.println("</body>");
    out.println("</html>");
    out.close ();
    protected void doGet (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
    throws ServletException, IOException
    processRequest (request, response);
    protected void doPost (HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
    throws ServletException, IOException
    processRequest (request, response);
    }

    You are injecting a reference to a stateful session bean to an instance variable in the servlet. This bean instance is shared by all servlet request, and that's why you are seeing this odd behavior.
    You can use type-leve injection for the stateful bean, and then lookup the bean inside your request-processing method. You may also save this bean ref in HttpSession.
    @EJB(name="ejb/foo", beanName="SecondBean", beanInterface="com.foo.foo.SecondBeanRemote")
    public MyServlet extends HttpServlet {
    ic.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/foo");
    }

  • Problems with Cocoon 2.03 and Weblogic 6.1 SP3

    I am having problems with Cocoon 2.03 and Weblogic 6.1 SP3, when I try to deploy

    Cocoon works fine when I unpack the cocoon.war into ...\mydomain\applications

    However, when I deploy the cocoon.war through the weblogic console and try to

    when you unpacked the war, but I believed that these problems did not occur with
    WLS6.1 SP3.
    Has anyone else encountered this problem and solved it? Any help would be greatly
    appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    This how I got Cocoon 2.04 up and running on WLS 6.1.4
    Download the Cocoon source from http://xml.apache.org/cocoon/dist/
    Remove all but the following JARs from lib/optional:
    commons-jxpath-1.0.jar
    jing-20020724.jar
    resolver-20020130.jar
    servlet_2_2.jar
    commons-logging-1.0.jar
    jtidy-04aug2000r7-dev.jar
    rhino-1.5r3.jar
    xt-19991105.jar
    Update lib/jars.xml to reflect these changes
    Issue build commands:
    ./build.sh clean (Note: Always clean first!)
    ./build.sh -Dinclude.webapp.libs=yes -Dexclude.webapp.samples=yes -Dexclude.webapp.documenation=yes
    -Dexclude.webapp.javadocs=yes webapp
    Copy the following JARs to your WLS instance’s lib directory:
    xercesImpl-2.0.0.jar
    xml-apis.jar
    xalan-2.3.1.jar
    xt-19991105.jar
    java/lib/tools.jar
    Sample of config/SERVER_NAME.setenv
    LIB=/path/to/lib
    JARS=$LIB/xercesImpl-2.0.0.jar:$LIB/xml-apis.jar:$LIB/xalan-2.3.1.jar:$LIB/xt-19991105.jar:/opt/java1.3/lib/tools.jar
    JAVACLASSPATH=$JARS:.:$JAVACLASSPATH
    JAVA_HOME=/opt/java1.3
    Deploy the resluting cocoon.war and you should have a Cocoon up and running that
    can do the XML->HTML Hello World sample. The status page works fine too.
    My advice is to launch this stripped configuration first and if needed add more
    features later by adding the JARs of your choice to the class path (or add the
    to your webapp-build if you are confident that WLS are capable of handling their
    manifests).
    Good luck

  • Maintaining sessions with a java bean

    I am trying to debug a Web App that occasionally loses its session when one
              page is being jsp_forwarded to another. The original JSP coder uses a Java
              bean named Session to hold all the sesssion information. The usebean tag is
              used to maintain the correct instance. This session loss did not occur when
              we were still running 5.1. Now with 6.1 we have this mysterious problem. Can
              anyone make suggestions on how to tackle this problem?
              The weblogic.xml file contains the working directory and the keepgenerated

  • Problem with JSP using bean packaged in jar file

    Hi,
              I am trying to use a java bean in a jsp file. The java bean is packaged
              into a jar file. I am getting class not found compilation error. If the
              bean remains to be a seperated class file, everything work well.
              Does anyone know how I can use bean in a jar file within jsp , i.e. to
              allow the bean to be found during compilation ?
              Thanks,
              Terence.

    Jacek,
              Thanks for replying.
              My JSP's are just files in my document root . However, I found a solution to
              my
              problem. That is to have the jar file defined in my weblogic.class.path. I may
              have missed some files in my original jar file which causes my problem.
              Mayby I should package everything into a web application for deployment. That
              will be my next step.
              Thanks anyway.
              Terence.

  • Problems with VA Java Visual Composition

    Hi!
    I have some problems with reopening (even simple) visually in VA Java created
    beans (JFrame, JDialog). IDE behaves somehow unpredictable. Sometimes it reopened it into the
    visual composition editor, anothe time the reoppening fails with following log message:
    Java exception during layout of bean(<unnamed>): java.lang.NullPointerException
    Java exception during layout of bean(JFrameContentPane): java.lang.NullPointerException
    An exception occurred in a system program.
    Terminating TimeSlotGUI (VCE) (System) (25/07/01 10:05:07)
    Can anybody help?
    Ivan

    Which Version do you use? This VAJ 3.5 was quite bugy and you had to use patches. Now there is an Update 3.5.2 which fixes most of the bugs ( although there are new ones). When I work with the VCE ( avoid this normally) I get problems if I rename Beans which were generated with th VCE. then your stuff is lost. Sometimes you can recover if you delete the generated[i] initialize() method and then open the VCE.
    Nevertheless, VAJ 3.5.3 works quite good, great debugging tools.

  • Performance problems with new Java Tiger style recommendations

    Performance problems with jdk 1.5 on Linux plattform
    (not tested on Windows, might be the same)
    using the new style recommendations.
    I need fast Vector loops for high speed mathematical calculations, some
    hints about the fastest way to program that loop would be also great!
    After refactoring using the new features from java 1.5 (as recommended from
    SUN) I lost performance significantly:
    using a vector:
    public Vector<unit> units;
    The new code (recommended from SUN for Java Tiger for redesign):
    for (unit u: units) u.accumulate();
    runs more than 30% slower than the old code:
    for (int i = 0; i < units.size(); i++) units.elementAt(i).accumulate();
    I expected the opposite.
    Is there any information available that helps?
    The following additional information I got from Mr. Shankar Unni:
    I got some fairly anomalous results comparing ArrayList and Vector: for the
    1.5-style loops, ArrayList was faster then Vector, but for a loop with get()
    calls, Vector was faster. Vector was even faster than that using
    elementAt(), which was a surprise:
    For a million summing iterations over a 100-element array:
    vector elementAt loop took 3446 ms.
    vector get loop took 3796 ms.
    vector iterator loop took 5469 ms.
    arraylist get loop took 4136 ms.
    arraylist iterator loop took 4668 ms.

  • A problem with my Java Scrabble game

    Hello
    I am making a Java Scrabble game for a school assignment and I have a problem with the following:
    The number of players is input by the user (2 to 4) and i need to create a number of arrays based on the number of players. These arrays must have 7 playing pieces at all times until the "bag" of pieces has less pieces than those required to replace the ones a certain player just used (in wich case the bag would give that player all of it's remaining pieces and, from this point on, the player arrays would not necessarily need to have 7 pieces).
    this is my procedure to take a piece from the bag:
         public Piece takePiece()
              if (this.pieceCounter > 0) {
                   Arrays.sort(this.pieces, 0, this.pieceCounter);
                   int i = this.generator.nextInt(this.pieceCounter);
                   Piece p = this.pieces;
                   this.pieceCounter--;
                   this.pieces[i] = this.pieces[this.pieceCounter];
                   return p;
              else
                   return null;
    this is my Piece class:
    public class Piece implements Comparable {
         private int scorePiece;
         private char letterPiece;
         public Piece(char letterPiece, int scorePiece)
              this.scorePiece = scorePiece;
              this.letterPiece = letterPiece;
         public int scorePiece()
              return scorePiece;
         public String letterPiece()
              return letterPiece();
         public String toString()
              return letterPiece+ " " + scorePiece;
         public int compareTo(Object a)
              Piece piece= (Piece) a;
              return (int) letterPiece - (int) piece.letterPiece;
    }Thanks in advance for your help

    Ok, if i create a Players class and do this in Main class:
         if(nPlayers >= 2 && nPlayers <= 4)
              Players arrayPlayers[];
              arrayPlayers= new Players [nPlayers ];
              for(int i=0 ; i < nPlayers ; i++)
                       arrayPlayers[i] = new Players ();
              }My Players Class should contain something like this:
             // Array of 7 that contains Pieces...
         Piece[] pieces= new Piece[7];how can i get pieces from takePiece(); (Class Bag) and put them in the pieces arrays until takePiece(); returns null?

  • Problem with File Based replication in Weblogic Express 10

    Hi,
              We have Web application (exploded war) file deployed on Weblogic Express 10, to a Cluster of three Managed Servers (all three on different physical machines).
              We are using File based session persistance in weblogic.xml
              We have a shared location for all the three servers where we will be sharing the Session data.
              When we start the application, its works fine and is very fast, but after sometime the application slows down.
              Troubleshooting the Issue we found that its a problem with file based replication. By using File based replication every user session is stored in form of directory inside shared directory. So after sometime thousands of directories are created inside the shared directory where the session information is stored. So when we access the application, its waiting for lot of time with Message Session Monitor .... (this is because its browsing through the shared session storage directory for lot of time for session information as it has lot of directories) and finally after a long time like 10 mins we get the Application Home Page.
              When we clean up all the saved sessions inside shared directory, the application works fine, But we will see the same sometime later may be after 3 or 4 hours when the shared session directory has lot of session information stored in it.
              Is there a way to clean up the saved session information on file system as soon as that user session is closed by using file based replication.
              We cannot used Inmemory replication as our Appl doesnt support it.
              Please advice as it is a major show stopper in our Production Mirror env.
              Weblogic Consultant

    It is possible to reduce number of live session by configuring very low timeout-secs weblogic.xml. Default is 60 minutes.
              More details are here..

  • Problem with Sun Java Creator JDBC driver .....

    Hi:
    I am new to Java Studio Creator. I am using Oracle Enterprise Edition 8.0.5.0 database to get data from. Through Servers Navigator->Data Sources, I define a new datasource using default JSC JDBC driver for Oracle. However, when I try to test the connection I get the following error.
    [sunm][Oracle JDBC Driver] Internal Error: Net8 Protocol Error
    Can someone tell me what is going on here? By the way I also have Netbeans 4.0 IDE which works fine with the same database.
    -Victor bagga

    I was using the following database URL.
    jdbc:sun:oracle://autoserv.cqtel.com:1521;SID=autosvdb
    The SID is valid because I can use other JDBC drivers such as Oracle's thin driver which uses the Database URL
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@autoserv.cqtel.com:1521:autosvdb
    and it works. However, I can not use the Oracle thin JDBC driver with Sun Java Creator as it seems to be incompatible. Using this driver I can successfully define a datasource and veiw all the data and make all kind of queries through the Server Navigator window but when I try to drop a database table on to a Data Table in my project, nothing happens. If I try to Edit the query on the rowset, the GUI window does not show any Column names and display names.
    By the way, I also have an Oracle 9.x database which works just fine with Java Ctreator Studio. I really like Java Creator as I find it very productive but not being able to make it work with Oracle 8.0.5.0 takes the fun out of it.
