Problems with accentuation - special chacters

Question

Hi, I have some artists in my library whom have special chacters in their names, such as "Maria Bethânia". The thing is, she appears on my iPhone as "Maria Bethania", without the ^. When I tried to fix it - by changing her name on the library and on the files itselves, in the iTunes Music folder -, not only it didn't change but also now when i click on her name on the iPhone, the page closes immediatly, and goes directly to the home page, as if there was some bug. How can I fix this?

You'll probably have to remove the tracks from the device. Unticking items and syncing ought to do it, or you might need to restort to this:
Manually remove media items from an iOS device
iPhone/iPod touch: In the list type views swipe from right to left over the right hand side of an item (but keep away from the alphabet if it is showing down the edge of the window). A red delete button should appear, tap to remove the track.
iPad: In grid mode holding your finger down on an item for about a second will produce a black & white cross at the top left, touch this to delete.
What format is the media in? If they are mp3s it might be worth running them through mp3val.
