Problems with adding songs and podcasts after moving itunes folder.
Hey guys
I just purchased a 3TB Time Capsule. And am using it as an external hard drive more than the time machine.
I moved my iTunes folders from my MBP to the Time Capsule and now run the music from there. When I plugged my
iPhone 4 in to transfer some music and podcasts, and also to clean some music off the iPhone it wouldn't le me do it.
When I transferred music it would just hover over the iPhone and not drop in.
I don't know whether it was because I changed everything around or what. How do I get this back? Can someone
Please help me.
Thank you so much.
It sounds to me that your iTunes Library File on your MBA isn't properly synced to your music located on you external HDD.
In your itunes menu, under File you have an option to "Add" music into your library. Use this to point to your music folder on your HDD. This will then create a new iTunes Library File and populate your music correctly in the version of iTunes on your MBA.
This should resolve your issue.

Problem with certain songs and ipod corrupting itself
my 4g ipod has some serious problems with some songs, almost exclusively by bands with "S" names (something corporate, saves the day, and snow patrol off the top of my head - and I doubt it matters anyways). It will either play the first few seconds of the song or won't play it at all before it skips to the next track. I've tried converting the offending tracks/cd's to AAC with little success. While the song is trying to play the hard drive is clicking/vibrating/working at a rapid pace. I know this isn't a good thing at all, and there probably isn't a way to fix it, but if someone can fill me in with any info, it would be appreciated, as it's starting to happen to more and more songs.
Also, it corrupts itself about once a week and I have to restore and reload all my songs. This isn't a huge issue because I don't keep anything exclusively on the ipod but it is annoying.
Any advice, insight, or pity is appreciated.it's now corrupting itself every time I plug it into my computer. I fear it may be a goner. Lasted a little less than 18 months.

Problems With Adding Songs To Library
I've added over 20 gigs of music to my iTunes library without any problems. But now I have a folder that I'm trying to add, and it acts like there is nothing in it, which means the songs in the folder do not get added to the library. The folder only contains music that is in mp3 format. Anybody got any ideas why iTunes will not add the songs?
Does it act any differently if you open the folder and try adding the songs themselves rather than the whole folder at once?
Do you get any sort of error message, or does it just do nothing?
And can you play any of the songs in that folder with QuickTime outside of iTunes?

Still problems with Apple id and emails after move to iCloud
Hi,
After move from MobileMe to iCloud, there are still problems with apple id's and emails.
I'm trying to delete a mail (email1) from one apple id, but nothing happens?
And when i'm trying to add a email (email2), that i Know isn't linked to another apple id, i get the message that it is already in use with another apple id?
It's a problem when you use these emails with facetime, imessage etc ...My iPhone 5 and 4 both are having no trouble connecting to the Apple store, but my iPad (4th Gen) cannot either connect to Apple store, nor stream music using iTunes Radio. Keeps asking for my Apple ID and password. When I put it in, it says that I cannot connect. If I put it in wrong, it tells me its wrong. Tried changing my password on my desktop PC. The iPhones handled change and continued to connect, but iPad is unable to connect still.
Any solutions would be appreciated. -

Problems with adding music and videos from a different computer?
I have a 30gig video and it doesnt let me add anything from a computer that my itunes library isnt connected with.
When i try 2 add something it says ill have to switch to this computers media library and it will delete whats on the ipod. I only want to add a few songs and videos and it without deleteing everything
Windows XPAfter you set the iPod to manually update, connect it to the second computer. If that message still appears, click "No" on it. Then, select a song in the iTunes library that you want on your iPod and simply click and drag it to your iPod. The top of iTunes will say "updating iPod" if the song was successfully dragged to the iPod.
See this article for more information on updating videos:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302509
The article is much more detailed than what I could ever hope to go into... and it does address manually updating audio files, and using the iPod on an iTunes library that it is not linked to.
Hope this helps you out

HT1325 Problems with purchased songs and new computers
I have a new computer; my first mac. I am an apple convert, previously owning a toshiba. Some of the songs from an album I purchased through itunes will not play. What do I do? They have an ! with a circle around it next to them. I do not have a hardcopy or backup to revert back to. I just want to know how to be able to play these songs and listen to them as I have purchased the right to do so.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be redownloaded in all countries) then you might be able to redownoad it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage.
If it shows there but doesn't have the cloud symbol against it then try deleting it from the Music part of your library (where you are getting the exclamation mark) and it should then get the cloud symbol in Purchased for redownloading.
If music shows there but not that album then is it still in your country's store ? If it is then check to see if it's hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
If you aren't in a country where music can be redownloaded or if it'sno longer in your country's store then you won't be able to redownload it.
But you should be keeping and maintaining a backup copy of all of your downloads, an item can be removed from the store at any time - you are only guaranteed one download of each item. -
Can't locate songs after moving iTunes folder
After years of having all of my iTunes music on an external drive, I upgraded the Macbook's HD and decided to move the songs back. After doing so and pointing iTunes to the new location, it still asks me to click and find each file (which would take forever with 100GB of music).
-The ITL file and everything else has been on the Mac HD in Users/Music/iTunes with only the music on the external drive in a folder called "iTunes". All I did was cut and paste every file from the external folder into Users/Music/iTunes/iTunesMusic which was previously empty. I changed the location, it did its updating, but nothing is being located. Everything is the same as before.
-Every time I locate a song it creates a new folder called music and puts the identified tracks in there.
-Is there a script I can use to locate all of the songs since they're all right in that folder? The only thing that has changed is that they moved. For some reason iTunes isn't playing them even though I changed the location under preferences. After years of having all of my iTunes music on an external drive, I upgraded the Macbook's HD and decided to move the songs back. IPod won't sync anymore after moving itunes folder
I just got a laptop and want to be able to transfer all my music from iTunes and iPod from the desktop to the new computer. I wasn't ready to do it completely but read that I needed to move the iTunes folder to a shared folder so that I could access it with my laptop via my network. I did not realize what the results would be however! When I docked my iPod to the desktop this morning, I noticed that my iPod was empty after it had updated. All 4000+ songs/podcasts gone! Ack! I noticed that iTunes seems to be ok, all the songs are there, except they all have an exclamation point next to them. Re-docking and trying to sync does not work. The music won't transfer. I put the folder back into the my documents folder but nothing changed. Even system restore didn't help. I am desperate. I am even willing to forget the idea of putting everything on the laptop if I can just get things to how they were. When I clicked on the exclamation point in iTunes it said the original file could not be found. I would hate to have to load each cd in again. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!
laptop: Toshiba Satellite w/ Windows XP Home
desktop:
Compaq Presario 6000 Windows XP Home
Compaq Presario 6000 Windows XP HomeFirst I'll explain whats happened. when you moved the folder to a shared folder, then tried to update the iPod it wiped it out because iTUnes had no songs in it. All music shared over a network will not update to iPod, the songs have to be on the PCs harddrive.
What you need to do first is place the folder on the "Old" PC back to its default location in the "My MUisc" folder. It gets confusing because theres 2 iTUnes folders, one is named "iTUnes" the other is inside this one named "iTunes Music". So the "iTUnes" folder needs to be in the "My Music FOlder and the "iTUnes Music" one needs to be in the "Itunes" folder.
Once you have placed it back open iTUnes and make sure all the ! marks beside the songs are gone. DON'T UPDATE YOUR IPOD!!!! Since its already blank, you can use the whole iPOd harddrive to transfer the songs over. Hold down the shift and Ctrl keys. While holding them down connect the iPod let iTUnes open, and when it list the ipod, let go of the keys. this will stop an auto update from happening.
Now rightclick ipod in iTUnes, hit options, select "Manual Update". Now your iPod will be set to transfer. go here and follow the directions for moving the whole iTUnes library and songs to your new laptop. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
Once everything is transfered over you can rightclick the ipod and set it back to auto update or whatever you had it on and uncheck "Enable Disk Use"
I also see you have a toshiba laptop, iPOd has issues with some toshibas so this artical may also be of help if you have troble getting the laptop to see your iPod http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300836 -
Adding songs that are not in iTunes folder on hard drive
I'm trying to drag and drop songs from a hard drive onto by 120G ipod classic. I keep many of my MP3s on a separate drive that is dedicated just to music files, but this means they are not in my iTunes Music folder (C:...\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music).
Basically, my problem is that I can drag some songs over but not others. I don't get any sort of error, but when I drag most songs onto the iPod (using iTunes 8.2.1.6) the status at the top will quickly flash "syncing ipod, do not disconnect", but the songs are never added to the pod.
Can anyone help? iTunes is set to Manually manage the songs (as opposed to syncing) since I don't necessarily want them sync'd!
Thanks for any help!It wasn't clear from your post, are you trying to bypass iTunes entirely and drop songs (native files) directly to the iPod? You can keep songs outside of the iTunes Music Folder, and you can drag songs from your iTunes library to the iPod, but you can't drag a song's native file directly onto the iPod -- you have to add the songs to iTunes first, then add the songs from iTunes to the iPod.
You can still have your music in iTunes but keep the native files organized how you want them outside of the iTunes Music Folder. Just de-select the options "Keep iTunes music folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" (see your iTunes Preferences on the Advanced tab).
If I mis-read what you're doing and you really are trying to add to the iPod from iTunes, then the problem might be with the native files. Do they play OK in iTunes? What version are the tags? -
Problem with black screen and crashes after installing windows 7 and bootcamp
K, so I partitioned my internal HD using Bootcamp, installed a new copy of Windows 7 Home, put in my Mac OSX disk and installed the additional stuff. I can successfully log in to Windows and open the browsers I have installed: Comodo dragon and Mozilla FF. McAfee auto installed with FF and I have Comodo Antivirus installed.
However, within minutes of use, my screen goes black, the computer does not shut down and reboot, I have to press the power button and wait a few secs for it to shut down then reboot. This has happened from both browsers while in Windows on Facebook in a game; while trying to save an attachment from an email via webmail and also while checking the inbuilt Windows settings for the display.
The latter produced the following report (below) on reboot and when I hit the "look for a solution" button, the actual window vanished after a few secs.
2 additional bits of info which may or may not be related:
a) running windows troubleshooter I discovered I have prob with:
driver for Inter (r) 5 series /3400 series chipset Family USB Universal Host Contoller - 3B3B
- I Googled this and it seems a common prob. Tried the reinstall, didn't work, so disabled it as suggested on some of the forum posts.
b) The OSX side of my computer seems to run fine most of the time, tho I have had the odd back screen, then wait, press reboot to power on and off in past as related in this post last month: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4844797 (maybe a kernal panic..???)
Would anyone know what is causing these probs or what I can do about them? My computer is no longer under warranty and the couple of times I had probs while it was, I was told the probs were to do with the power supply and given a new one, I'm not sure if they looked at the logic board. The OSX side has also had an ongoing prob to do with sudden shrinkage of the image content, which I mentioned to the geniuses at the Apple store b4, but as it wasn't acting up there they couldn't do anything about it... ( looks as tho sm1 changed the screen resolution and whatever is in the browser window shrinks, tho desktop, is never effected - if that makes sense!.)
All in all tho, does make me wonder if the prob is based in the graphics switching..???

Having a problem with the photos showing up after moving everything to another server.
Greetings,
I used an older version of iWeb to create several websites a few years back, and would like to retain them. I followed the instructions and downloaded the five folders for the five websites on my iDisk, which took more than two hours, and then uploaded them to the server I use to host another of my websites, and made them all subdomains.
The first issue I had was a php code error for every page. Turns out I had to remove the very first part of the index.html file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> and then everything seemed fine until I tried to go to another page. Ended up having to do this on every html page for each website.
Then I noticed that none of the pictures were showing up in the albums. I also have videos on two of the sites, and they worked fine. I checked /Photo_Albums/Pages, and inside were the folders with all the pictures, so I know they're there.
I have ruled out it having anything to do with my new server by opening the websites in Safari from their folders on my desktop, and had the same results; everything was good except there were no pictures on the page.
If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it! I've got 5 websites I have to get fixed in two days.
Thanks!
Take care,
~ChrisThanks Roddy, but I don't think that's it, either. When I downloaded everything from my iDisk, it automatically created 3 versions of every picture, and named them either micro.jpg, thumb.jpg, or web.jpg. They can be found in the Photo_files>Media folder, each set of three in their own uniquely numbered folder. For example, one the websites is of a friend of mines hot rod Fiero.
Here is his website via iWeb:
http://jimsfiero.com/
This is what it looks like after uploading everything to a different server:
http://jimsfiero.ricehatersclub.com/
Here's my personal website:
http://peckerwoodspitstop.com/
And here it is after uploading everything:
http://peckerwoodspitstop.ricehatersclub.com/
You can see that everything works, except where the page is a photo album.
Thoughts?
Oh, BTW, I tried Wyodor's suggestion, and it shut everything down with a 500 Internal Server Error. Removing the suggested file corrected everything. -
From a couple of weeks my macbook pro (15" 2.4 Ghz i7 4gb OS X 10.7.4) has this problem: when i close the screen it goes to stop and when i open it goes out the stop normaly but the fan and the temperature increase and the battery last nothing. So i reboot the mac and everithings go to normal way and also battery time increase in comparison with before...
I've found that samsung kies wifi started at the login and that the app used 91% of my cpu and filled up my ram so i went to: system preference > users and groups > login's elements > and i deleted the app from the list.
