Problems with Agent x Hostname

Hy guys,
its my frist time using Grid Control, after read carefully the docs I'm still having error with the hostname when installing the agent, see:
etc/host
192.168.220.151 ORACLEGRID
127.0.0.1 localhost
Error when installing the agent:

Checking for the Hostname...
Actual Result: Hostname is not FQDN, Domain name is null.
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: S_CHECK_HOSTNAME_ERROR
Recommendation: Please verify the hostname in /etc/hosts. The /etc/hosts might either contain short host name or ip address instead of full host name.

I got the same erros though.
Can anyone help me, the OS is Windows 2003r2 enterprise and the GRID is 10.2.

Yes I re-installed and it did not work for me..it kept saying that I had uppercase in my computer name...changed it all to lowercase and got same error message still so juts bypassed it

Problem with Agent logon

Hello,
Rather a question then а problem.
When agent try to logon he gets this message:
An extension on the agent phone is shared with one or more other devices.
This configuration is not supported
Which is normal if the line is shared, but the CUCM doesn't show that the line is used by other device, most likely we remove the line from first device and add it to another one BUT the first device was associated with Application user, and to resolve the problem we have to remove the first device from application user controlled devices (deassociate it) and leave there just the second device
So my question is: is this normal behavior or it's a bug? And do we have to do that all the time when we change the line to other device? Because to do that we have to know the MAC address (Device Name) from first device (old one), find it in Controlled Devices in Application user and remove it. When you already removed the line from some device it's hard to find identificate it, especially if you don't have some clear device name (different then SEP....).

I've seen this happen where the UCM database isn't 100% correct a reboot usually fixes it.

Update Problems with Agent 10.3.4

we have a lot of various problems during the update of ZENworks Agent from 10.3.3 to 10.3.4 - on WinXP and Win7:
Assigned the Update to 185 PCs: 77 not yet done, 102 successful but 10 failed with errors. Errors on different PCs are similar but not identical:
All system-update.log and additional MSI logs showed different error messages, some PCs installed several other MSIs but had errors in several MSI logs
And of course users could not work any longer since Icons on Desktop - from ZENworks are missing. So problem solved with manual Uninstall and Reinstall of agent. But we have another 300 PCs to upgrade, some of them are important ones. Another customer with 2000 PCs did NOT have so many problems.

Just an update:
reapplying the update finally installs the new agent 10.3.4 - at least on most PCs.
Only our helpdeskt complains about a lot of calls due to popup messages during the update - the update always continues - but users are worrrying. Here are entries in system-update.log:

4) Users who start services on computers had admin permissions

It looks like it can not resolve the host try editing your hosts file (located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc) and add the following line in the agent machines:
+<controller_ip> <controller_hostname>+
and also edit the controller host file, to include the following:
+<agent_ip> <agent_hostname>+

Two problem with the DNS (hostname order and slow internal DNS)

First I'm sorry for my english,... So I've two questions which I cannot solve by myself.
1/ I configured two DNS as primary on my Xserve one .com and one .ch. For the same name : example.com and example.ch. I defined a mail server, my second Xserve.
If only my example.ch is configured on my DNS server my hostname is mail.example.ch, working fine with my specific MySQL software. But if I add the example.com to my DNS Server, my hostname is changed to mail.example.com !
And that I do not want ! I need to keep my mail.example.ch. How can I fix my hostname to the .ch ?
2/We have an Xserve with two Ethernet cards (for the NAT) and we have a DNS server on this computer. When I use the Xserve for DNS Server on the remote computer network preferences the internet is working but very slow to resolve the DNS. I think the problem is from the catching DNS system, but how I can disable that or speed up my internet connection ?

Have a look in /etc/hostconfig. HOSTNAME defaults to -AUTOMATIC- which resolves by firstly trying reverse lookup on its IP - the first return from this will be adopted. If you have 2 PTR records for the IP then it may be resolving to the 'wrong' one. If this is the case then you could either...
1. Remove one of the PTR records, or
2. Edit /etc/hostconfig, replacing with HOSTNAME=mail.example.ch

When I export query to Excel from a dashboard OBI, the file size is only *350 KB* but when I use agent for same query and send an email, the excel file size is *6 MB*, so there is a great diference in size and I have a problem because I have restriction for sending emails regarding to file size.
Do you Know why increase a lot file size when I use aaan gent ?
I have another question:
When I use pluggin obi for excel, I am lossing information content when I use pluggin obi for excel.
Do you know if I must to change configuration in instanceconfig.xml ? or is there another reason ?

Incremental file load with agent scheduler

Hello.
I have a problem with agent scheduler. At first Ill describe what I do:
I wanna load data from files named xx_20100101, xx_20100102, xx_20100103, and so on..
- I created interface which loads data into oracle table.
- File Data store (resource name) is called #file_name. #file_name is Variable computed from metadata table.
- This metadata table contains data about files and statuses. E.g. columns (File name,File date, Status) data (xx_20100101,20100101,READY).
- I created Procedure which sets Status from READY to DONE after successfull load from every file into table.
- All these steps are in Package. So when I run this package (with steps: Declare variable -> run Interface -> Run package -> Refresh variable).
- Variable is computed as record with min(File Date) and Status = 'READY'
After execution of package everything looks ok.
But when I execute Package via agent scheduler only step with Interface is correctly runned. Packege which changes status of file load does no update and variable is not refreshed. So that next run of Package computes with sam data as first run.
Where can be a problem?

Always use the #<PROJECTCODE>.<VARIABLENAME> syntax.
Where you want to use the variable in the file name it is best practice to run each iteration of the file load in a separate session. You should take the approach to invoke a scenario with the variable passed in as a parameter for each file to be processed.
Inside the "child" scenario you should declare the variable (making sure it is a non-persistent type) before you execute the load.
If you run the scenario synchronously you won't have to change the KMs to make them run in parallel by modifying the temporary table names - conversely, if you change the KMs to use unique table names for the temporary tables (C$, I$) then you will be able to run the scenarios asynchronously and in parallel.

Problem with hostname after enabling dhcp

i just installed a solaris10 non-networked because there was no network connection when i installed it. but recently, we were able to connect it to a network which required me to enable dhcp which i did with a sys-unconfig command.
the problem is, the hostname i have for this machine is currently "unknown" and i don't know how to set it to another name,
i've tried the procedure in doc.sun.com but still will not work.

I used the following documentation :

Edit the file /etc/init.d/network and change the line that reads
"dhcp") hostname=`/sbin/dhcpinfo Hostname` ;;
to
# "dhcp") hostname=`/sbin/dhcpinfo Hostname` ;;
"dhcp") hostname=`shcat /etc/nodename` ;;
Then, edit the file /etc/init.d/inetsvc and change the line that reads
hostname=`/sbin/dhcpinfo Hostname`
to
# hostname=`/sbin/dhcpinfo Hostname`
hostname=`/usr/bin/cat /etc/nodename`
Save the files and reboot the system. The system's hostname will be the
entry in the file /etc/nodename.

Problem with starting OEM-agent on NT (clustered)

We have problem with starting the OEM-agent (9i) on Windows 2000. The Nt-server is clustered.
I have started the OracleAgent by the service screen. Everyting looks ok.
But, from the server where the OEM-console is installed I can't contact the
agent.
I stopped then the agent and started it by typing;
d:\oracle\ora92\bin\agntsrvc.exe
Than i get the error:
StartServiceCtrlDispatcher Failed with err 1063
Anyone an idea?

Problem with Clean Access Agent and Windows Updater

I have a problem with a laptop when using Cisco Clean Access Agent. The agent keeps directing the laptop to get updates from the Windows Update site, but when I have connected the laptop via cable, windows updates tells me there are no updates either essential or optional. The laptop is a Sony VIVO VGN-FJ270 running XP Home Edition SP2 and the Clean Access Agent is version 4.0.2.1
Any help is appreciated!!

Problem with the agent console created in the ESSO-Logon Manager 64 bits

Friends,
When I use the installer that I created in the console ESSO-Logon Manager for 32-bit, this I install it on the client side and when I synchronize with the console-Logon Manager ESSO brings me and I can see the agent all the templates I configured.
I have a problem with the agent console created in the Logon Manager ESSO-64bit.
When I use this installer on the client stations and then by the agent does not envision the applications that I have configured in the console.
This causes you can not do single sign on to applications that I have configured in the client stations
To generate this installer use the source name: ESSO-LMx64.msi
Can someone please help me with this problem, this only happens when I use the msi installer on 64-bit client stations.

Bundle problems with 11.3FRU1 agent

Hi!
Anyone else have problems with bundles not installing/launching on schedule with 11.3FRU1 agent? Also bundles set to launch at user login doesn't work first time the user logs in after workstation is booted, if they logout and in again then it will work?

Nope, nothing refering to appdata (only thing it finds is appdatalrucache but that is probably not what you are asking for)...
I've now tried assiging the bundle both to device and to user but still nothing happes, works fine on our 11.2.x agent workstations.

Licensing problem with UCCX 7, agent not able to login at all

Hi there,
We have UCCX 7 server and CUCM 7.
Problem is that we the agents are not able to login and they are getting maximum license error although not all licenses are used.
We get the following errors when trying to login:
1. "Maximum number of licenses reached. Please notify your System Administrator".
2. When we click "Ok" for the error above, we get the following "A licensing error has occured. Please try again in five minutes. If the problem persists, please see your log file or System Administrator for details.".
I checked the licensing service and it is working fine.
The log for the licensing service is not indicating anything, it shows only the last time there was a failure in this service (this was 6 months ago after a restart). It was working fine until yesterday.
I tried to disable the "IPCC Extension" under the User Configuration in the CUCM and enable it again, but did not solve the problem and got the same error.
It is worth to mention that when I disabled the "IPCC Extension", before I enabled it again, I tried to login using CAD but I got the same exact error.
Any help will be really appreciate, thanks a lot.

Open a command prompt on your UCCX server (not client) and go to this directory:
C:\Program Files\Cisco\Desktop\bin
Then run:
showlicenseusage.exe
THis will show you the IP addresses that are currently consuming licenses. You can check these PCs to see if they are still logged in - if they are, that's your problem. If they aren't, then you may have a problem with the LRM service or something.
If it has logins listed that aren't really logged in, you might be able to restart the License and Resource Manager service from Control Center to resolve it temporarily.
