Problems with annotating in preview

hi,
i've had no issues using the annotate function for preview prior to my snow leopard upgrade. the most important function for me was the highlight text function for use in lectures. however, after upgrading, the text i highlight often highlights in "circles" or "ribbon-like shapes" if its a huge chunk of text. i've uploaded some pictures in case you guys don't quite understand what i mean.
it would be perfect if there's any way i can revert back to the older version of annotating for preview. ):

So, a week later, and I think I'm narrowing in on the problem. WARNING: long post follows:
When I bought the new Macbook Pro, I bought an SSD after market to install in the optibay. Once it was installed, I reinstalled Mountain Lion on the SSD and obliterated the original hard drive. I then moved my Home folder from the SSD to the traditional hard drive using instructions found many places on the 'net. (CNET is one source, but there are many others.) Essentially, I created a dummy Admin acount and used it to copy the data from the SSD to the traditional hard drive, then changed the Home folder in System Preferences. Worked like a charm, no errors. Or so I thought.
I kept the dummy Admin account on the SSD for general troubleshooting, so last night I tried logging in with that account and working in Preview to do what I was trying before... and it worked just fine. Menus popped up super quick, the Export and Save As functions returned the appropriate menus... in short, perfect operation. But this doesn't work properly on my regular user account, whose Home directory was moved.
I didn't use system links because most articles said this was unnecesary under Lion or Mountain Lion. But it does seem like something is not working correctly, as these menus will not pull up on the account with the moved home folder.
Any ideas?

Problem with Quicktime stops Preview in Photoshop? Mac OSX 10.6.8

There were no warnings about Lion blocking old software when I installed Lion. Because purchasing new software was beyond my budget,
I had it removed and went back to Leopard 10.6.8. Now when I'm working in Photoshop and have adjusted an image, a message appears "Because of a problem with Quicktime, a preview can't be built. Quicktime Player 10 is in the Applications folder, and Quicktime Play 7 is in the Utilities folder.
Quicktime movies in Support on the Apple site won't play either. Please advise steps to take or new download.

Problems with display of preview - and Adobe's tech support.

Hello, all.
After quite a bit of struggle I am still experiencing problems with the way Bridge CS5 displays previews. Previews are displayed with rather low quality. By that I mean low resolution that causes images to appear pixelated and out of focus. I've tried every possible setting in Bridge (or at least I think I have) but nothing seems to work. The setting that forces Previews to be built to the specific monitor size of the computer used doesn't work for me as I spend equal amounts of time working between my Macbook Pro 17" and my Apple 30" cinema display that have different resolutions. I've tried this setting and the preview images created on the notebook would not display at all on the 30" display.
I have contacted support only to find it is nearly non-existent. A voice obviously from someone located in India answered and kept asking what I considered to be basic questions and must have used the word "apologize" at least 20 to 30 times (no exageration) during the 1 hour and 43 minutes we were on the phone to accomplish nothing other than to "register" my complaint.
What is happening to Adobe ? This is not a joke, a rumor or an angry comment but rather a serious question from a user who has built a professional workflow based on the use of Adobe's products. I have been an user of the Adobe Creative Suite since its very first version and of the individual applications even before then. Bridge is one of the applications I use the most in my workflow that involves the organization of my large database of medical images I keep from my treatments and research. So this is very serious to me. I am now on the phone with Adobe waiting again to speak with someone in technical support. I was told the average waiting time would take between 35 and 50 minutes and I didn't think it would be possible but so far I have been on hold waiting for 1 hour and 7 minutes and someone has yet to answer the phone. What is happening with Adobe ? Is the company about to go out of business ? The last time I remember experiencing such a lack of support from a company I did so when contacting Polaroid and we all know what happened to it.
To make matters worse I have twice contacted Adobe and asked their technical support agent to remove a phone number that they seem to have mistakenly written as a contact number in my files. More than one month after I registered my support request I finally received an e-mail stating that had tried to contact me at the phone that isn't mine and shouldn't be a part of my records despite the fact I have instructed them twice to remove. There are serious legal implications here as I am bound to confidentiality when it comes to the medical information I manage with my Adobe applications and the idea that someone in technical support may accidentally share this information with a stranger while calling the wrong number is a serious problem.
What is going on ?
Outside of this forum I have no idea who to contact and if it is even worthwhile doing so as it may prove to be a huge waste of time.
Bridge has been a problem application since its inception. In fact the only version of Bridge that seemed to have worked (somewhat) right out of the box was the first one. I have experienced problems with Bridge with every single new version. Previews that don't display properly, crashes, folder hierarchy indicators not displaying properly, and others. The same images display fine if I open them in Apple's OS X Preview or Photoshop CS5. The problem is restricted to Bridge. All images are RAW high-quality images from a professional Canon EOS 1Ds MK II camera with a 17 megapixel full size sensor, and they always look stunning on everything else.
What is one to do ???

I have it always set to manual.

I've tried both choices for both options. My usual default options are 'Software Rendering' unchecked as I have a new Macbook Pro (only a few months old) and the graphics card is powerful enough to handle the previews and 'Monitor Previews' also unchecked.

No. I have this option checked for both Battery and Power Adapter.
On Bridge's interface upper right hand corner I have also selected using one of its pull down menus the following options:

Problems with the photo preview

Z10 is a great mobile.
1 - Since I had it I never had problems with it. However now my mobile is not doing the preview of the photos taken by the camera.
I open the camera app, take a picture... then close the app. If I go to images the picture does not appear. However if I turn the mobile off and then on the picture will appear in the preview on images.
Could this be a result of any app that I did install?
How can I solve this?
2 - All my paid apps from BB World are always available there with my BB id even if for some reason I had to format the mobile?

Not sure what the problem could be. Could be an app. Could be something else.
When it happens again, do a soft reset. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02141 Afterward, see how long it takes for the problem to reappear, and whether there is anything consistent about it happening again.
You could try deleting apps one at a time and testing. If it were me and the problem is frequent and irritating, I would go straight to doing a backup and then a security wipe.

} In my singleton that is a pure JAVA object, the injection of my EJB with annotation @EJB doesn't seem to work. Indeed when executing, "discussionService" that should be injected and initialized, is null. Isn't it possible to inject an EJB in a pure java object which is a singleton ?

Problem with Quicklook - Issue Previewing Audio Files

Hi,
I have an intermittent problem with Quicklook and in particular audio files (MP3 and AAC). Quicklook works most of the time and plays the audio file, but if I query one file after another quicklook (usually) stops working and just displays the file icon with no playback options.
I love the feature, but it's annoying it fails to work. The files that fail can be quick looked later, so I don't think it's a problem with the files I'm trying to query.
Any ideas why this is happening? I've tried to repair permissions but to no avail.
Any idea if this 'bug' is fixed in 10.5.3?

The Console is giving me these sort of messages:

I also get errors saying "[QL ERROR] 'Creating thumbnail' timed out".
So QL is going belly up on certain files. I encoded some M4a files and QL also crashed according to the log. Why is this? If the files are encoded at wider settings than the usual iTunes files, does QL just refuse? If the file is downloaded, could it be fragmented and this is causing it? According to my log, QL is just crashing again and again trying to create thumbnails for whole folders of audio files.

Pls F1.. problem with NW sneak preview installation

i just downloaded nw dev stu 2.0.7 sneak preview...successfully.
now then..when i did try to install by executing SAPsetup.exe i get this msg
"This application has failed to start because sapfeiut.dll was not found,Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
let me know what do i do.....its urgent that i get started with the portal basics...pls F1 asap.

Problem with smartform print preview.

Hi Experts,
i have an rare problem i have requirement of sending PO smartform mail as pdf ,and the smartform is configued to nace, and the tcode is me23n.
we checked it in development server everything went on well,and mail was sent without any error, after moving object to quality,
we tested in the same process as in development, instead of mail 'Print preview' button was popped up.
is it something to do with NACE config or to do with my code ?

As Mohit said default printer is not yet set for your user in QAL and on print preview screen output device field is mandatory that is why the pop up for print preview is coming.
follow path given by Mohit and I think the pop up will not come again.

Printer Problem with PDF in Preview

After deinstalling virus barrier x5 of intgo with the deinstalling programme there are pdfs which are printed wrong from preview (Vorschau).
the letters look like Scelets and some of them have shaddows.(it is difficult to discribe, i should send some scans of printed documents). the font could be "Frutiger" but i am not sure. it is activated but pdf should deliver fonts with them , no?
yesterday it printed well, other pdfs are still printing well. is it a problem of preference items or a problem of fonts or what else?

Problem with Annotations

Live could be so easy... , if Annotations would offer more comfort.
I have following needs and problems in my application:
1. transparent Annotations (only with MinMaxRegion possible?)
2. All Annotations should be moveable and resizeable with the mouse.
3. There should be access to all Annotations (and their corresponding edit points) even if they are on top of each other.
4. On MinMaxRegions with only x values (full y range) there are no edit points (small white rectangles to catch them with the mouse)
5. All lines and edge points of Annotations should be accessable to move and resize the Annotation (like in nearly all drawing programs)
6. Annotations should be really transparent (although they are colored) that no overlapping Annotation hides other Annotations.
7. Is there a possibility to get the current marked Annotation (edit points are activated)?
8. If TrackMode = cwGTrackAllEvents is activated the CWGraph1_AnnotationMouseMove is available but with TrackMode = cwGTrackDragAnnotation not!
Also the AnnotationMouseDown and AnnotationMouseUp event are then not fired.
The behaviour can be tested with the attached test program.
Are there possible workarounds for the listed points?
Do anybody know, if NI plans an update for the Annotations?
Helpful suggestions and code snippets would be appreciated.

for not implemented features you can submit up a productsuggestion.
point 1,5 and 6 are currently not implemented. if they get implemented it will be in MStudio for .NET.
2: The arrow and caption of an annotation is resizable at runtime, but the annotation itself is currently not resizable.
8: This is expected behavior. You can point to the help for CWGraphTrackModes. Events are automatically handled if you have "DragAnnotation" as the Trackmode. Thus, all of the mouse events will not fire. They are expected to be handled by you if the track mode is "TrackAllEvents"
can you provide some further information for points 3 and 4?

HT2506 PROBLEM WITH Mac Basics: Preview for nikon D610

Hello everyone:
I am using Nikon D610,D800,D7100, all my raw D800 & D7100 can be view in "Mac Basics: Preview" to view photo in file,
but not for my D610 raw don't know what happen it just can't be view, anyone have same problem as I do. At first I thought it was Adobe, but my CS6 update to raw8.3 already, LR change from 4> LR5. So it must be mac itself. I speak with Apple and they tell me to download something like apture hey that's not what I am looking for there, some times I don't want to open my LR to view each photo. So any one have any idea please type here and share it out!

Yup Me too. The files are viewable on my laptop with Mavericks but I am not really interested in updating my computer to Mavericks just so I can view thumbnails. I am assuming that there will be an update that will take care of this?

Audio Problems with Prores444 file (preview and render)

I'm having this problem, I have a number of prores4444 files with audio that I exported from redCine. The audio plays fine in quicktime, but when I import into AE something goes wrong. I can see what apears to be the correct waveform in the Audio chanel, but when I atempt to preview, or I render with audio, everything just sounds like static or white noise. Is ths an AE bug?

You need to be more specific. What version of AE? What version of QT? On which tracks is the audio? Sample and bit rates?

Viewer audio problems with Desktop Cinema Preview

I'm using Destop Cinema Preview to output to an external video monitor from the video outpout of my iBook. I'm using a non-Apple patch to allow screen spanning offering me a full screen output from Final Cut Pro (not simply a mirrored desktop). This all works fine with video playing nicely on the external monitor from both the Canvas and the Viewer.
Where it often goes wrong is with the audio:
1. The audio in the Viewer is delayed and sounds like it's at the wrong sample rate.
2. Once this has happned in the Viewer, it may begin to happen in the Canvas.
3. Once it's happened in either, it won't stop.
4. Re-booting FCP sometimes restores normal sound in the Canvas, but not usually the viewer.
I've tried altering the Audio in User Pref from Low to High. This worked once. The problem is the same across different projects. I am using 48Khz in each case.
I've checked System Prefs in the OS, and there's no issue there.
The audio is output-ed from the headphone jack to an external amp, but shows the same symptom using the built-in speakers.
I do not have this problem when hiring in a deck and sending both audio and video out via Firewire.
I don't know if this is relevant, but I am also having problems recording VO through my MBox via USB 2.0 and into the Voice-Over tool.
Any help appreciated.

Well folks, I took your advice and bought myself an Canopus ADVC110 with which I have a number of issues.
Here's my setup:
Firewire 6pin at the back going to my Firewire drive which goes to my computer (all faults below are the same when I go direct from the converter to the Mac).
Rear S-Video to plasma screen monitor.
Rear analogue RCA outs to amp.
Issues:
1. No throughput on the DV. ie if I plug a camera to the front 4pin Firewire, I can see the pics in FCP, I can control the camera, but I can't get FCP to save the captured file. To do this, I have to unplug the converter and plug the same camera directly to the Mac. I'd rather keep my setup, set up and all connected to my monitor.
2. The S-video output has a latency of a few frames. NB this is not an FCP issue as everything is in sync on the computer screen and both video and audio are leaving Apple's world via the same Firewire output. It's how the video and audio are leaving the analogue outputs of the converter that is the issue. Somewhere in there, the pics are getting delayed.
It's not a monitor problem either, as I've tested this using the VGA output. ie When my plasma screen mirrors my desktop, it does so instantly.
3. The analogue outputs are really noisy. They have a real sizzle. Again, I have tested all the cables and routes (replacing the ADVC110 with an iPod), and found there is no interference in the system until I re-introduce the ADVC110. I have also tried adjusting the DIP switches after powering down.
Has anyone else encountered these problems? I'm awaiting word from Canopus tech support too.

Problems with video: green preview, export error -50

I have a video recorded with Open Broadcaster Software for Windows 7. As far as I know, the program creates standard H264 + AAC video (see screenshot - media info from VLC).
However, after moving the video to OS X, FCPX wouldn't import it. I found a strange solution online which used FFmpeg to change color sampling.
After that, the video does import, but although the video preview plays, it is initially (for a second or so) black and some of the thumbnails are just dark green frames. This affects the editing proccess a bit but it is not impossible. The biggest issue is that when trying to export the video, Error -50 comes up as soon as processing (transcoding) hits the imported file.
I have tried the following:
transcoding the file to Apple ProRes Proxy
running the file through HandBrake
deleting Rendered Files and turning rendering off
installing AC3 (A52) codec
None of these solutions worked. Is there any way you can think of to deal with this problem (other than giving up and redoing all the work in Premiere)?

FCPX: 10.1.3 (251130)

If MPEG Streamclip (or Compressor, if you have it) will open it, convert it to a QuickTime movie, Pro Res 422. Then open it in Quicktime to verify that it plays correctly. If it does, import that into FCP.

Problem with reading lightroom preview cache

i have Lightroom 5.4 and i come home from a shoot and opened lightroom to import my photos and it came up with this message " Lightroom uncounted an error reading its preview cache and needs to quit" i have done this several times and even uninstalled it and re installed it and still comes up with the same message as i need this to do my photography work can yo let me know why this is happening and can it be fixed
