Problems with apps (iTunes, Safari, iChat...), USB port?, installing files
When I click on the iTunes icon on the dock, it bounces once (sometimes twice), then stops bouncing and nothing opens. I tried opening from the application folder and nothing. I tried downloading the most recent version, but then I can't open the .dmg file in order to install (the files flashes like usual, but then nothing opens up).
It's not just iTunes acting like this-- Safari and iChat are acting the same way. Software Update won't open either. Other programs such as Firefox, quicktime, Word, etc, are fine.
My Norton Antivirus was expired and I downloaded an upgrade today-- but that .dmg file won't open either! I ran a virus scan anyway with the old Norton, and it didn't find anything.....
Things started acting up after I did a software update the other day. Now, when I plug in a memory stick or external hard drive (Lacie), they won't show up on the desktop, but if I restart with them already plugged in, they show up. The iTunes trouble started today when I restarted in order to access my external hard drive (it was fine this morning before I restarted!)

Force quit as in relaunch Finder? I can't force quit any of the programs because they won't open in the first place.... I tried relaunching and restarting, but that didn't work....

Problems opening apps when connected 2 USB port and after
I'm having some problems with my new iphone 3g S... the time I connect my iPhone 2 a USB port it starts charging and sync all my content. The problem is that after the synchronization, when connected and after I disconnect it, I just can’t open any applications I installed! When I try 2 open any apps, the app just blink (the initial screen from the app is shown in half a second) and then it just closes by itself… Am I missing anything here? I find that really weird… I appreciate your help!
Try this: Connect iPhone to your computer. In iTunes on your computer, deselect one of apps to remove it from your phone & sync. This should remove the app from your phone. Now delete the app from iTunes on your computer. Download the app from iTunes on your iPhone & resync. This should put a clean version of the app back on your computer. Hope this helps.

Problems with apps and safari since installing Yosemite
I could have shot myself after installing Maverick when it cam out but after a zillion updates and finally a 100 mile drive to the nearest Apple store and the genius bar it seemed to be working fine. I dreaded installing Yosemite but as I have and iPad mini, and Yosemite is billed to work more harmoniously with that, I did the download. Since then and even following the recent 'update', opening Safari takes forever, I get the rainbow wheel of doom. There is frequently a delay between my typing (about 35 words per minute) and actually seeing the curser and letters on screen, and often webpages just dump. Other times, apps or webpages will just spontaneously pop open. Sometimes Safari can't connect to pages. Not my wifi as if I just choose another page it is fine. I am actually back to using Chrome because I don't seem to have the same problems as with Safari..... go figure. 5 years ago after years of pc's and the frustration of having hardware and software that were specifically made for each other, I thru in the towel and paid the bucks for a MacPro laptop and I loved my first three years. Now, my machine ***** as does Safari!! an Apple app! I feel like I need to debug, but I don't have any thing like MacKeeper on it now (the Genius bar guy took MacKeeper off when I had that visit to solve the Maverick problems). I'm tempted to reinstall it but I read so many posts saying that folks had problems with a virus that they attributed to MacKeeper. So, anyone else having these same problems and can anyone recommend a good cleanup and maintenance software so I can clean this up?
Do not install MacKeeper.
Back up your Mac if you have not already done so. To learn how to use Time Machine read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support.
Determine if the same problems also occur in "Safe Mode":
Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
You must disable FileVault before you can start your Mac in Safe Mode.
Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well. -
Problem with Connection Itunes writes "Ichat Icons"

lots of people having the exact same problem with the new update.
Apple does not seem to care -- there is no fix at this time.
Best thing to do it keep calling them. -

In iTunes the iPhone device icon will not show up whenever I plug in a USB into my PC but the iPhone icon will show up in 'This PC' so if anyone who knows a resolution to my problem with my iTunes or PC,it would really help me.I need at least Help or some Tips.I have already tried many things to iTunes and my PC like trying to restore my PC but that do anything.Also,would it be fine if i contacted (call) Apple Support? I have a problem with my itunes. I cannot transfer apps from the itunes to my iphone 4s. Any time I try to snyc itunes tells me "The iphone could not be synced because this computer is no longer authorized for purchased items that are on this iphone. To authorize this computer for items purchased from the itunes store, choose, Store > Authorize This Computer. But anytime I authorize it tells me you have authorized including this computer 2 out 5 computers. And if I try again the same story over and over again. But I have many apps on my itunes which I want to transfer. Please someone help me.

Is there a problem with the itunes and quick time download pages or is it my internet.

Some more developments ... the issue appears to be browser-specific. I can't see the download controls at the moment in either IE 8 (I'll get your message) or Safari for Windows 5.0.5 (I'll just get the blank box). But I can see the download controls in Firefox 4 and Chrome (whatever version I have of that).
So it might be worth installing Firefox and seeing if you can get the downloads via that:

Go to Settings, Store, Apple ID, Sign out and then sign back in again and have another go.
Also, try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!
