Problems with audio when exporting to movies

Hi All,
I teach sequencing and one of the projects is to score a short piece of music to film.  Logic Pro 9 is great for this (though beat mapping isn't the most friendly of functions) and my students (most only 16-18 years old) have made some great projects.
Right the question is what are the best settings to use when exporting the audio to movie?  Some students don't get any sound when bounced or some are getting the oprginal with the new audio (doubled).
To assess and store student work we use vimeo for video projects and the wierdest thing is that when uploaded these bounces (the ones that worked) have no sound at all.
Never had these issues with Logic 8 and just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I can resolve this?
Thanks and happy new year.

I've used flip4mac for about a year and have had no problems with it. I mostly use it to export preview versions for windoze people. The quality is very good, though it takes significantly longer to export than a similar-quality quicktime movie.

  • Problem with Audio when exporting to Quicktime

I'm running a trial of Adobe Flash CS5 on a Windows PC. I used audio [set to Stream] in the project. The original audio was recorded in 16 bit and 44kHz using Cubase LE4, and was exported in [.wav] format. It works fine and plays back normally when I try 'Test Scene' or 'Test Movie' within Flash. However, the export isn't working right.
I exported the movie into Quicktime format [.mov]. I set the export audio to 16 bit and 44kHz, which was the same rate that the original sound was recorded in. No matter which audio compression I use, [or without compression at all], the final Quicktime file sounds like it is 8 bit, and the quality is greatly reduced. Just to experiment, I tried exporting with 8 bit audio- at this setting the movie played back with even worse audio quality [and a considerable amount of static], and I am assuming that it has been reduced to 4 bit.
For some reason, Flash must be cutting the bit rate in half, no matter what settings I use. Does anyone know how to solve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using MPEG Streamclip to convert the videos; more information on this issue is available in this article.

give it time to boot. the time depends on yr memory size n data. soon a process bar will appear indicating the boot process. if still this doesnt work. try formating the phone. but this ways u lose all data on the phone (unless u backed it). relax! the data on the memory card is safe.

  • Problem with interlacing when exporting with Media Encoder CS 5.5

It seems that when exporting a Video with interlacing in Premiere 5.5 with Media Encoder 5.5, the exported video is still interlaced although it is rendered with progressive settings. When rendering with the same settings through Premiere 5.5 without Media Encoder 5.5 (Button "Export") it is correct and progressive.
I tried this with H264 and MPEG2. Anyone experiencing this problem too?
    Thanx!

Were the field interpretted correctly in the first place?  Even if you think they are, try reversing them.  I've just been through hell doing something similar with a mishmash of client material from around the world.
In some instances I switched field order (In the File>Modify) although it didn't seem logical.  In others, I used AE CS5.5 to added the Reduce Interlace Flicker filter.

  • Weird audio problems with Motion when exporting quicktime videos

I have a Motion project with 2 video clips of people talking. When I create a RAM preview everything plays back fine. When I export a quicktime, the first second or so of each video clip (within the quicktime) have no audio. I've adjusted the in and out of each clip in Motion but I don't think that would make the audio disappear on export. Thinking it was just a bad export, I tried just exporting the audio and the same thing happens.
    Here's what i'm using:
    Mac Pro dual 3.0 Xeon
    10 gigs of RAM
    Motion 2.1.2

    hi,
motion 2 had some odd audio problems that surfaced now and then. The only way round it was to bring the clip into FCP and edit the audio in there, and then export from fcp.
Motion 3 might have fixed this. Not sure havent had the problem for some time, since I make sure all finnishing is done in FCP.
    hope this helps

  • IMovie '11 problem with audio when publishing to youtube or exporting, help

I recently got iMovie '11 and its kinda buggy. One problem is when you try to publish a long (above 1 min.) the audio periodically skips forward in the video, but when you play it directly from imovie there is no problem. is there a way to fix this or get around it, because it is super annoying.

I have been having the same problem. I have been using a PC for the past 5 years and using Pinnacle Studios, I had a Mac before using the PC but never owned one , I finally bought one during Thanks giving and started working on my next video on iMovie. Everything runs great but when you play back the video on imovie without moving the mouse or pausing it , some areas of the video itself, NOT THE SONG, will be cut off but when i put the mouse over the clip that has sound its there!!! What i finally did was import the video to my pc find every clip that had missing sound and put the sound in one by one. and all videos are the same file! if you want to see the that had missing audio here it is:

heres the video after i fixed everything:

  • Strange problem with titles when exporting to Quick Time

I recently finished a project. It includes some simple titles - mostly lower third consisting of 2 lines, left justified. When I export to QT, the centering on the titles mysteriously changes - flipping from left to right. I keep going back to the timeline to double check and even do them over again, but the same thing keeps happening over and over again, often on a different titles. I've also tried copying the timeline to a new project. When I export the files through compressor, a completely different set of titles uncentered themselves. When I go back to the original timeline however, all the settings are correct. This is most aggrivating! I've never had this problem before. Any suggestions appreciated.

No - it's nothing I haven't done before. I'm simply using the Boris Title Crawl with the chalkboard font. Very simple stuff. When I export to a FCP self contained movie, the centering switches from left to right within the shot - so the titles looks animated. When I go back to the original timeline, all the settings are correct. Sometimes if I redo them, the problem corrects itself..but then another title goes off center It makes no sense.

  • Problems with Audio in Exported m4v files

Hi. I am having an issue with QuickTime Player on Snow Leopard. Everytime I try to convert a .AVI file into .m4v, I lose the audio. I'm pretty sure I'm converting the right way, ("Share" > "iTunes..." > "iPhone and iPod"). Nothing appears to go wrong in the exporting process, but as soon as I open them in iTunes, there is no audio. I'm assuming it's not a codec issue, because no matter which .AVI file I use, it has the same problem.
Being a Mac, i'm assuming it's something stupid I'm doing (or not doing), but I would really appreciate some help. Or advice. Or anything.

Open the AVI in QuickTime Player (or QuickTime X like you're using now) and then open the Movie Inspector window to view what makes up the file.
    Report that info here.
You can also use the free MPEG Streamclip app to export to the iPod/iPhone and Apple TV presets (with options).

  • Lost the audio when exporting to .mov on PC

i made a project in Motion that lasts about 26 seconds....even included an audio track to overlay it. i exported it into a QT format (.mov) onto my desktop on the Mac. i tested it on the Mac, and it works great.
when i transfer it to my Windows laptop, the .mov file plays but doesn't include the audio.
any suggestions to get the audio to play?

    No worries.
It's just I think there are more people with QuickTime on Windows experience on that forum so you have a better chance at getting help.
The codec you are using is a standard QT codec that comes with the player? The version of QT installed on the PC is the same as the one on your Mac? Those are the two things I'd check if it was happening to me. Good luck.

  • Problems with superscript when exporting to PDF

If one writes in a table cell for example "100m3 tank" with 3 as a superscript, then exports the document to PDF, the
"3 tank" disappears, likewise if one just writes "100m3", the 3 disappears. However, if you just write "m3", the three in superscript remains. Any fixes for this bug? How can I report it to Apple?

I just came across this same problem -- similar but not exactly the same.
Text in a table does not print properly when text is superscripted.
This is a problem since we have a French invoice that has a fair bit of superscript. I tried to work around by decreasing the font size and increasing the baseline, but this did not work.
I'm using Pages 5.1 and Mavericks.
    Anyone have any ideas????

  • Problems with EXIF when exporting portrait style pictures.

So, I just recently upgraded 09 with the intention of using it to organize my photography work. I didn't work much with 08 and didn't have any photos in it so I don't know if this has always been a problem or not. When I import photos that have been shot vertically, in portrait mode, something is being done to the EXIF data, other than it being rotated. My camera has auto-rotate on and they were originally transfered with the software Canon gives you. Anyways, when I export these photos, whether by dragging tot he desktop or File >> Export, and then open it in another program, such as preview, and attempt to view the EXIF data, it's nonexistent. I should mention that these photos were not edited in any way in iPhoto, just imported and then exported. Also, the EXIF data can be viewed in iPhoto, just not anywhere else apparently.
I've sort of solved the problem just by trial and error but I still don't know what causes it. When I select these photos and use "Revert to Original", they export perfectly and have all the EXIF data. Also, if I edit the photo somehow, enhance, etc., the EXIF seems to come back when I export. This only seems to affect the photos shot in portrait so I can only imagine it has something to do with how iPhoto deals with the autorotate function on already rotated photos. I decided I would try to import directly to iPhoto rather than import from camera with the Canon software and then import into iPhoto to see if it was the Canon software but the same issue occurs. So, my options at this point are to just select all my photos that I import and revert to original or turn off autorotate on my camera and sift through my photos and manually rotate them. The former isn't a huge deal but it would be a lot more convenient if all my EXIF didn't get erased every time I take a portrait shot in and out of iPhoto. Other than that, I don't seem to see any option to change how photos are imported but maybe I'm missing something obvious.
I was wondering if anyone else has this issue, or if it was a problem in iPhoto '08. If it matters, my camera is a Rebel XT.

When iPhoto rotates the auto rotated photos from your Canon the modified file that gets creates loses much of the EXIF data. To get the EXIF data included in the file you have to export the file to the desktop via File->Export->File Export and select the option to include the title and keywords.
Another way is to turn off the auto-rotate in the camera, upload to the desktop first where you can losslessly rotate those files with PhotoTool CM orXee. Then import into iPhoto. That way no modified file is created and if you drag the photo to the desktop you'll be getting the original file which contains the EXIF data.

  • Problem with diacritics when export in Acrobat(PDF)

    Hello,
I use reporting service from Sql Server 2008 R2 and I have a problem when I export in Acrobat(PDF) format. All the 'ș' and 'ț' are after export in pdf just a square.
Can you please help me. Thanks.

    Hi Alin-g,
SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services supports Adobe Acrobat 6 or later. So, please make sure your current Acrobat version meets the requirement.
Besides, the font in the PDF format may be different with that in the HTML rendering extension because GDI font substitution in those formats behaves differently. If there is a font missing on the client, you might see characters replaced with boxes (□).

  • Problems with Hyperlinks when exporting to EPUB

I've been trying to export a CS5 indd to Epub (using corEpub script -http://www.teusdejong.nl/indesign/-), but there seems to be some kind of conflict with Hyperlinks (there's 6000 of them): when they are near to a footnote reference, the text of hyperlinks (and some text surrounding it, don't know the criteria) just disappear and the reference doesn't work. Any ideas about what could be happening?

  • Problems with audio playback in QuickTime movs on site

I'm working with some clients, and posting QuickTime movs for review on my site. Everything was fine until this last pass, when suddenly, half the people said they could see the video, but not hear the audio. I'm posting H.264 video with AAC audio. Even more unusual is that the people with the more recent machines and software were the ones having trouble. The older cpus and software seem to playback the movs just fine.
And it seems to be affecting Windows and Mac users equally.
    Any suggestions?

  • Issue with audio when exporting

Having some trouble exporting a finished project from PremierePro (CS4). If I have any audio on any channel other than Audio 1 , i.e. a music track over the top of the original audio, and try to export then the exported file comes out with no audio at all.
Have tried various export settings and formats but with no change in the results, the only thing that resolves it is removing the second audio track, which negates the majority of teh work I've done... Any thoughts?

    Rich,
    Welcome to the forum.
What is/are the format(s) of the Audio that you are adding?
If MPG of any sort, say MP3, try converting to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, Import that/those file(s), and use the WAV(s) on the Timeline. Soundbooth, Audition, or even the simple, free Audacity, should be able to do the conversion for you.
You might also have success by Selecting the Clip(s) on the Timeline, and then Rt-clicking on it/them and choosing Render Replace.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
