Problems with Audition 3.01

I just upgraded to Audition 3 from Audition 1. So far I have had just problems:
1) I have to activate Audition every day. That is - not every time I start it, but every day.
2) I have set the program to auto-scroll during playback and recording. It doesn't scroll during recording, and often not during playback. It is also reacting a bit slow. The playback cursor often stops, or disappears after a few seconds.
3) Playback or recording stops if I click on a background program, like the mixer.
4) The program crashes every time if I try to use the noise reduction effect. After capturing the noise profile the program crash almost immediately, every time.
I hope someone can help me sort this out. My system is:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor 3800+ 2.01 GHz, 2 GB RAM. Windows XP Professional with service pack 3. I have optimized the machine according to the tips found on the Adobe site. I have installed the 3.01 patch.

Hi,
For the auto-scroll and other display issues, AMD released a CPU optimizer update that may help address some of these issues.  It's available at: http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/dynamicDetails.aspx?ListID=c5cd2c08-1432-4756-aafa-4d9dc64 6342f&ItemID=153
That doesn't matter much, however, if you have to activate every day and if it crashes when using noise reduction.  Activation resets each DAY?  That's a new one.  Are you running any sort of daily task that backs up or restores your hard drive or registry?  I imagine it's unlikely that the licensing is actually de-activating or you would quickly run into the activation limits, but perhaps there is a bit or registry entry somewhere that is getting reset that makes the application believe it need to activate when the relevant activation data is already in place.
If you're comfortable using Windows Registry Editor, could you launch it via Start > Run > regedit    and navigate to  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{53C141BA-4F9E-43F B-B4F9-0c01BB716FA8}    Then click File > Export and save that block to a file and send it to me at [email protected]
If you could also launch Audition, click Help > About Adobe Audition > System Info and attach the info.txt file it creates, it might give me more information to determine the nature of what's wrong.
As for the Noise Reduction crash, does it only happen when capturing a profile?  If you just run Noise Reduction without capturing a profile, do you see a crash?  Do you see crashes with any other effects in this manner?
Thanks,
Durin

  • Steps to troubleshoot and get past common problems with Audition

When you encounter a problem with Audition, the following steps are often useful for getting past the problem and/or determining the cause of the problem:
    1.  Hold down SHIFT while you launch Audition
This overrides the preference files and launches Audition using the default settings.
    2.  Manually rename or delete the preferences folder
Step 1 only overrides certain preference files, while others such as Workspace preference files, may be the cause of the problem.  Depending on your OS, locate the "5.0" folder in the location below and rename it or delete it.
         Windows XP: C:\Document and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Audition\5.0\
         Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\5.0\ *
         Mac OS X: ~\Library\Preferences\Adobe\Audition\5.0\ **
              * "AppData" may be a hidden folder.  You can type it into the location bar, or enable "Show Hidden Files" in Windows.
** This is your user-level Library folder, not the system-level tree.
    3. Check your Audition Log.txt file
To enable a log file with CS 5.5, you must create an empty file in your preferences folder called "Audition Log.txt" using notepad, text edit, or any other editor.  After you create this file, launch Audition and if it fails, open and/or share the log file for more specific information about what's happening.
    4. Check the Operating System console or error log
Both OS X and Windows can track application errors, and if the problem is occurring outside of the application code - a driver conflict, for example - then the OS error report may be more informative than what we can get from the application.
OS X: launch /Applications/Utilities/Console.app   Clear the view, then launch Audition and note any error messages that appear.
Windows: launch Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application then launch Audition and note any error messages that appear.
    5. Re-install Audition
If at this point, nothing has resolved the issue or the error logs are inconclusive, it's a good time to uninstall Audition, reboot, and reinstall Audition.
    6. Obtain the full crash dump and send it to the Adobe team
So you've walked through all the above steps, you've disconnected any external hardware interfaces to rule out any device or driver conflicts, and you've exhausted the basic troubleshooting steps.  Visit http://forums.adobe.com/thread/900619 and follow the steps for your OS that Charles has documented to best obtain a full crash memory dump for Audition, and send that to [email protected] with a description of the problem and the steps you've taken, and we'll take a look.

Firstly yes these are common problems and secondly hopefully they will be fixed with updated software 2.1 which is due for release this coming Firday!

  • Oxc000007b problem with audition cc download-any ideas?

Hi, had the same problem when downloading Lightroom 5 from the creative cloud desktop - dll package for lightroom solved the problem here.
I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
(I uninstalled audition cc and installed it again with the same result)
    Thanks for your help
    Best Bee

SteveG, thanks for the link again. I tried before to extract both (msvcr80.dll and msvcr100.dll)  to audition cc like I did with the lightroom 5 problem and I failed.
This time I only extracted msvcr100.dll to audition cc and it worked!
    Thanks for your encouragement . . .

Well it's those .dlls that are the only reason that I'm aware of for this failing. Can I suggest downloading and installing them again? I presume that it's the information in this thread that you are referring to?

  • Problem with auditioning samples in Ultrabeat?

Im having some trouble with auditioning drum hits in Ultrabeat. When I go to listen a sample, the sample plays but all i can hear is a high pitched squeak instead of the drum hit I want to audition. Can anyone explain this?

    Hi,
Ultrabeat is not so much a sample player, but more a synthesizer. Your squeek probably has to do with the synth parameters of that sound in UB.
This guy (David Earl aka SFLogicNinja) explains it well:

  • A possible solution to the MIDI problem with Audition 5.5

    Hi, all.
In searching for other answers to my Audition 5.5 questions, I've been seeing lots of complaints on these forums about the lack of MIDI compatibility with this version.  If you have an external MIDI sequencer, I offer a solution that you might find useful.
Go into Audition's Edit > Preferences and change the time display from minutes and seconds to bars and beats
Specify the time signature to the closest beat value of your song (exampe:  if you're using both 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures, go with 4/4)
Set the tempo to match your song
Lay down a full length click track with at least a 4 measure click intro
Insert the same length click intro into every track (which, when working with previously sequenced tracks, is just a matter starting the machine in sequence-record mode with the metronome on, counting the appriopriate beats and turning it back off just before the song starts)
Mute all but the track you intend to record
Record each instrument track to its own file, save and open a multi-track session
Position the first beat of the click track far enough into the session to preclude needing to trim intros (you can trim the silence out with the click intro after mixdown)
Zoom in until a single click fits perfectly under the time indicator line
Drag or snap all the other tracks underneath it so that the first click of each track lines up
I use lots of instruments with slow attack (such as strings), or tracks where the instrument might only be in a few measures, so the 4+ measures of click intro are particularly useful.
Pretty low-tech, but quick and painless nonetheless.  It suits my purposes, though I'd love to know if someone has a better method.  Thanks for reading.

    Bob Howes wrote:
The other problem is that, even among the "music creation" market, there can be big differences in the perceived importance of MIDI.
I'm not a musician myself but have worked closely with two very different composers.  One of them does practically everything in MIDI (using Sonar) then tends to hand me the files to work with in Audition (after conversion to wave format).  Some tracks are left in the form they came but others are replaced with live "real" instruments.
The other person is much more traditional.  He plays more instruments than I can count and I help him by recording as he lays down drums, guitars, bass, brass, etc. etc.  He owns a lot of keyboards but, even with these, he sends me line out and uses the actual keyboard sounds rather than laying down MIDI data.
So, if you asked these two how important it would be to have MIDI functionality, you'd get two very different answers.  From some of the recording forums I frequent, I get the impression that my friends are a microcosm of the whole market .  Some use MIDI a lot while others prefer the feel and sound of recording live instruments.  (And, I'm sure, others inhabit a middle ground.)
True dat.  Up until about a year or so ago, I didn't use MIDI, and so Audition was for me music production software par excellence.  Then about a year ago, I started getting into MIDI, and now I'm not only using MIDI for creating keyboard-based tracks for overdubs, I'm actually writing songs using MIDI (whereas before songwriting almost always involved a guitar).  MIDI has become huge for me, in other words.  And whether I go to sites like Studio Central and read Tweakhead's guide to homerecording in which he tells people that modern music-making either involves MIDI or is MIDI-based, or whether I read articles in Sound on Sound magazine which constantly reference MIDI in their articles, have regular features about sample librairies that use MIDI, or look at the countless ads touting MIDI keyboards and controllers, it's clear that MIDI is as much a part of modern recording as guitars and mics.  Before, I never used to get what Steve was on about when he'd say that Audition isn't music production software, because I had produced five albums of stuff using either CEP or Audition.  Now, I understand what he means when he says that.  When he says Audition isn't a music production software, he means 'Audition doesn't have MIDI'.  However, the truth of the matter is that Audition is a wonderful music production software if you don't use MIDI, and a partial music production software if you do.   You know, I've tried out other softwares - Reaper, Studio One, FL Studio (ha!) - and none of them come close to Audition for me.  Sure, I can get by using Reaper for MIDI, but knowing how Audition does things, I know that I'd be happier doing it inside Audition.  Hence, the continued lobbying.  I want the best.

  • Mac newbie!  Recording problems with Audition 2.0 in WMware Fusion 3.0

    Hi --
Having been an Audition/Cool Edit fan for a decade, when I recently bought my first Mac (MacBook Pro) I bought and installed WMware Fusion 3.0 for the sole purpose of running Audition on my Mac (OS 10.6.2).
Everything installed beautifully and playback, CD extraction and the like all were working fine.  There was a slight bit of latency, but I could deal with it.  When it came time to record something, though, it was awful.  The whole Auditon program slowed down and recording was spotty, choppy and basically unintelliglble.
I thought I hadn't allocated enough memory on my virtual machine (the default was 512Mb) so I increased it to 2GB.  That didn't work.
Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, can you give me a tip or two on how to get the recording mechanism to work properly?
    Thanks!
    Andre

VMWare Fusion and Parallels are just not reliable enough for real-time recording.  I highly recommend setting up a bootcamp partition and using Audition under a native Windows XP environment for recording.  The virtualization systems work fine for editing, mixing, etc but are just not reliable or robust enough for real-time work, in my opinion.
I supplied a short blog post to Adobe's Inside Sound blog last year about this.  It's still up at http://blogs.adobe.com/insidesound/2008/02/audition_3_on_a_mac_1.html and has generated some great comments from users and even some of the folks over at VMWare.

  • Strange problem with Audition 3.0 - Tracks Load, but don't appear, no tracks listed?

I've a collection of 15 songs I've been working on.
A few weeks ago, I loaded one of the sessions, only to find that the progress bar showed the loading of each track as normal, but there was no track data visible once the session opened!
Fortunately, I kept a back up, and transferred this over. However, now the backup has done the same thing, and I've done work on it since and don't want to have to go back to the old back up again.
What's weird is that, the files are all there listed in the directory, and appear to load, the session attributes and settings are all the same, but just no audio tracks are visible.
I'm sure there must be a way of recovering this, but I don't know what it is.
I've deleted the cache, which didn't help. I've copied the directory somewhere else, and back over again. - but no luck.
    Any ideas?

  • Audition problems with Premiere CS5

Has anyone had problems with Audition 5.5 not functioning with Premiere CS5. I have both programs (but not a part of the Suite). So, Audition CS5 is installed and so is Premiere CS5. After separating a sound channel, I want to pick the Edit with Audition from the drop down but the Edit with Audition is muted; interesting however is the Edit with Soundbooth is highlighted and it works. But I would like to work with Audition instead. Anyone have those sorts of problems?

This built-in functionality works only with Premiere CS5.5, I believe.  There may be some registry hacks or something to make it work a little with Premiere CS5.0, but I have a feeling the only way to successfully fly stuff back and forth as intended is to get the upgrade.
Now, if that's actually what you have, and this is happening, then that's a different problem altogether.

  • Baffling recording problem in Audition 3.0, please help!

i have this totally silly problem with audition 3.0, which until today was working fine.
the problem is simple but infuriating. i open a session, load a music track into track 1 and attempt to record my voice on track 2.
audition records, on track 2, the output from track 1 as well!
this problem started after i installed two pieces of software on the computer: van basco's karaoke player and audacity.
i've uninstalled these two programmes, restarted the computer, uninstalled and reinstalled audition (twice!) but nothing seems to work.
    does anybody have any ideas?
    thanks in advance
a late news flash. i haven't actually cracked it, but i've found a way round it that works: i add a bus track and send the output of track 1 to that bus track. that way the track 1 content doesn't get recorded on to track 2. a bit heath robinson though!

since i've now, thanks to ryclark, totally cracked this problem i think i can help!
probably you need to alter not your sound card setting but your windows mixer settings (i assume you're using windows). you can do this easily from outside audition (even with audition not open).
open the windows volume master (double click on the little speaker icon), in its control bar click "options" then select "properties". click on "recording", click on ok, then in the volume control panel that opens select only the microphone (or whatever you're using for your mike input) and disactivate everything else.
you should now be able to record in audition only what comes in through the mike.
    hope this helps.

     b noir,
I can get itunes to start if I disable Bonjour or if I "repair" it first. Sometimes I can repair Bonjour though add/remove programs, sometimes it will only "repair" using WinRar. Sometimes I have to "repair" Bonjour 2 or 3 times to get iTunes to start.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling at least a dozen times. I have tried redownloading iTunes at least 5 times and from different links. This leads me to believe that the dnssd.dll file is not itself corrupt, but this newest version is causing a conflict with XP somewhere somehow.
Team, iTunes 10.2.2.12 has just been released. I installed it and checked, and BonJour's been updated to version 2.0.5.0, and there's a new 2.0.5.0 version of dnssd.dll on my system. So I reckon it's worth a try updating to that to see if it's of any help with your trouble.

  • Audition problems with ASI5211 analog pair & AES stereo in at same time ...

That is, the Audio Science ASI5211 card is advertised as essentially a 4 mono channel input card, 2 of which are analog and 2 are digital. However, I haven't been able to get Audition (CS5.5 or CS6) to recognize this capability. The ASIO/MME/WDM driver sets supplied by Audio Science (so far, versions 4.10.7 through 4.10.20) and its associated desktop driver control panel seem to show this ability as 2 separate stereo audio streams that can be set to pass either of the physical stereo input sources (Analog & AES). I select one stream as analog and the other as AES, but I can't seem to map these streams/inputs discretely inside Audition in the "Multitrack" view to 4 different channels.
If I use the ASIO driver class in Audition, I'm only shown a single "Default Input" stream (# 1) and can select among either the left or right physical input to map to the left or right stereo Audition channel. This appears to be the limit of my choices in the "Multitrack" input select view as well.
If I use the MME (WDM) driver class, I can select between the 2 streams (#1 and #2)  as "Default Input" but again, whichever "stream" is selected, that's the only choice I get in the "Multitrack" input select view ...
I also have another instance of Audition that is running on a pair of ASI5644 cards (4 stereo record streams per card) and the ASIO driver class, that I don't seem to have this kind of problem with.
The Audio Science drivers are a "monlithic" kinda deal in that the one package is intended for most (if not all) of their product.
    Any ideas?
    Dell Optiplex 780
    WIN7 64bit Enterprise
    Audio Science ASI5211
I hope this is at least somewhat clear.
Thanks in advance for your time and attention.

    Steve,
Thanks for the response. I was able to get an answer about this from Audio Science and it appears that, like a number of things, this capability of deriving 4 discrete "mono" channels (2 Analog + 2 AES) from the ASI5211 card *WAS* possible in Audition v3 using Windows drivers, but it was amputated from subsequent versions of Audition.
What I was told was that the absence of this ability, using the current ASIO driver, is somehow due to the hardware architecture of the card. Not much more was revealed.
Nothing at all was removed from Audition's ability to pick up and send correctly formatted ASIO streams - otherwise just about every other user would have screamed from the rooftops, and it would have easily been picked up in beta testing.
Reading between the lines, I'd say that they were being 'economical' with the truth here. What it amounts to is that they've screwed up their ASIO driver - period.

  • Problem with Adobe Audition CC(2014) / Install

    Hello,
I have a problem with my subscription to Adobe Audition CC. I paid a monthly subscription to adobe audition CC and now, when I want to use it, the program wants a serial number. I don't have any serial key. I've just my mail subscription confirmation. When I go to Creative Cloud, it notices that my application is install but I can't access to it. What can I do?
    Thank you. @

  • Problem with the XI-Audit log entries in the table "XI_AF_MSG_AUDIT"

    Hi,
I have an async-szenarios for PO:
We send Idoc's from SAP ERP to a WebService via SOAP. And we take Ack's. We use Integrationsprocess with deadline block to catche the errors after the retrying (three times) and to send they via e-mail.
Our problem is, the number of the audit logs in the table "XI_AF_MSG_AUDIT":
In the RTW only we see one audit log (with three retries) in an error case. But in the table XI_AF_MSG_AUDIT there are about 76 entries for the same audit log in the error case and about 20 entries in the case of the succuessfull processing.
This number of the entries in the table causes problem with the size of the redo log file and delete job of cours the large size of the table and therefore problem on the data base. The table can not be controlled. The delete job can not run and cancels every time due this redo log problems
    What can cause that?
How can it be prevented, that so much entries are not be made in the  table "XI_AF_MSG_AUDIT".
    Best regards
    Gueltekin

    Hi Gueltekin,
I am only aware of the general property auditLogEnabled of J2EE Engine Service SAP XI AF Core, which controls in general (default = true) that entries in the AF Message Audit log are written at all.
    (see [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/5c/22ee41c334c717e10000000a155106/frameset.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/5c/22ee41c334c717e10000000a155106/frameset.htm])
I assume that your scenarios in the error case is sending up to three messages and for each message the number of audit log infos are created. You might want to check the detailed entries in the log and see from where they are comming, you might use customer modules etc. as well.
    Best regards,
    Silvia
