Problems with burning movies b/c of lack of disc space

I am new to using Apple, but I have been able to figure most things out through trial and error. I am working with Final Cut Express and have created a movie. I figured out how to export this movie to iDVD and was able to burn a partial copy of my movie. Now everytime I try to burn what I have I am getting this multiplexer message telling me "not enough free disk space for encoding the remaining assets." I have a external disc drive(Lacie) with over 400G left on it. Is there any way to get iDVD to use this?

Easiest way - move stuff off your startup drive and put it on the Lacie.
Another fairly easy way - if your external drive has a system on it, use the external as the startup drive. Clone your current system to it with something like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper. Just be careful not to erase things you want. (read the directions carefully)
You might be tempted to do battle with the Unix World and try things like "symbolic links" , but I'd recommend against it, use one of the two methods above. I've had issues with SymLinks and iLife, they don't always mix well.

  • Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

    haben
From looking at the specifications of your camera (SJCam 4000), we know already what video compression your camera is using. It is H.264.
A H.264.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements 11. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, are you running QuickTime and Premiere Elements 11 from a
User Account with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime to confirm that you find
presets there for the QuickTime choice there.
What are the properties of these H.264.mov files - is it 1080p30 (1920 x 1080p30)  or something else? Do you know if this camera is recording with a variable or
    a constant frame rate?
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next.
    Thank you.

  • Does anyone have problems with iTunes movie rentals freezing in the middle of the movie?

Does anyone have problems with iTunes movie rentals freezing in the middle of the movie, requiring a force quit, which causes your rental to disappear? This has happened multiple times to me recently. Last time Apple didn't refund my money after reporting the problem. I have been using iTunes for many years but am about to give up.

Correction: I was refunded for the previous movie freeze.

  • Problems with goods movements cancelling network confirmations

    Hello experts,
I'm having some problems with goods movement when cancelling network confirmations.
I assign a component for a operation in the project builder (CJ20N). Then when I execute a confirmation for that operation in CN25 everything works correctly, I can assign the time for the confirmation and SAP automatically carries the component assigned to the operation. Once I have done the confirmation the goods movements and the hours have a correct account assignment.
The problem is that if I cancel this confirmation, the hours are correctly cancelled but the component is still there. If I try to cancel the goods movement with MIGO it is no possible because the system says that must be cancelled with the corresponding transaction (CN29) but, as I have said, the system does not cancel it.
On the other hand, If the goods movement goes to COGI transaction and then I post-process the error, If later I cancel the confirmation, everything works correctly.
Does anybody know why this could happen?
    Thanks and regards
    Laura

    Hi
I think this question was raised earlier also. The best way is to allot a fixed time slot for your users so as to avoid clash. I suppose i explained that the master data of any material is stored at one place only and if you schedule a background job for this then all your good movement transaction will be in que and performed in orderly manner.
If automatic posting is not possible then use the time slot method.

  • Problem with burning DVD's

I have Roxio Toast Titanium and I have a problem with burning DVD's. When I put a blank DVD-R in my superdrive, select the files and go to burn; the advanced recording options will not let me deselect the check in "close disk". It is shaded. But when I use a CD-RW I can and so far the Roxio help has...well has not been help at all. I mean why would I spend the money to buy a software package that lets me do the same thing as the basic OS-X disk utility would let me do? Drag a file, burn it and close the disk from any future use....
Sorry if this does not belong here, I did not see a area for general software questions way back in the main forum area not one here.

    Donald,
    Hi and thank you.
To give you more details on what I am trying to do; I am trying to burn in Mac & PC format. I am mainly trying to back up all my assorted college files (I am a college student), these files are lecture notes in Word with embedded audio recordings, standard Word documents such as essays, etc., spreadsheets, PDF documents, etc. The files I am attempting to burn should not be larger than 4.7 gb and Roxio has not given me a warning that it would be.
I am just frustrated that when I put in a DVD-R or -RW I only have one option, and that is to close out the disk when it is finished burning it. I have also gone to the recording tab, on the menue bar, to uncheck the "close disk" box after I put in a blank DVD and before I select files to burn. The option is shadded preventing me from even trying, which is not the case for a CD!
    Thank you!

  • Problems with image movement

    Hello everybody:
First of all let me tell you that I am not a DVD wise person. I am starting to use iDVD and hope to soon be able to use DVD Studio Pro. The problem that I have is that I created a presentation in Motion using only photographies. The project was done using the Full HD(HDV1080p 30) format and saved as a quicktime file. When the file is played it looks great with smooth movements, but when transferred to iDVD the pictures still look good but the effects and movements are not smooth anymore, they stutter at times... This is the first time that I have this problem, maybe because I tried to do the project in full HD format? Or maybe is a problem of the speed of the data transfer? I know iDVD has a menu that allows to burn a DVD with Pro quality but I am still getting the same result.
Also please...could someone recommend me some webpage o text regarding dvd recording for beginners?
Thanks a lot for you help...

    Hi
    One thing
iDVD - Can't do HD - not any version of it
DVD Studio pro - most probably
Roxio Toast™ - at least with Blue-Ray component to Blue-Ray burner/disks (DVD too but very short eg 20-30 minutes)

  • Problem with QuickTime Movies From iMovie HD

I posted this earlier (on the second day of Leopard's Release), and did not get much feedback, and so thought I'd try again after people have had time to run Leopard.
I have some movies that I created using iMovie HD. I have the QuickTime version of the movie for use with Front Row.
On my G5 iMac running Leopard, the quality of the movies on Front Row is fine. However, in Leopard, the quality is lousy. The movies were made from still photos, using the Ken Burns effect. There are also transitions. On the web, on my iWeb site, the pictures take a while to come into focus. I sort of expect this on the web. However, I've found the same thing with the movie files using Front Row on Leopard. Again, this slowness in coming into focus does not appear when playing the movie on Front Row on Tiger on a G5 iMac.
Curious if anyone else has encountered problems/issues with QuickTime movies files from iMovie HD. And if so, what if any fixes are available.
    Thanks in advance.
    Russell

Hmmmm, so it works OK in Front Row but NOT in Quicktime player? Thats odd. Front Row works worse for me!
It sounds like it may be a rendering problem with Quicktime - It has to process the file in general (or parts of the file, for example, if you export 10 pics looped in Flash, it has to process the 10 image files each time it plays it through, resulting in the first 4 or 5 images to shoot out jerkily [read LAG] unlike the rest of the movie, which is smooth). If these images in your movie are large in file size or contain tons of wacky photoshopped effects, etc, that might be whats causing the problem.
I'd check everything is updated to the latest version, repair permissions on the disk in Disk Utility, and then see if anythings improved.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Problems with burned DVD in iDVD - Works in some players, not in others

Hi, I'm having a strange problem with a DVD I burned in iDVD.
I have a disc image that I made in iDVD and then burn the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders to a DVD.
    I burned to a Memorex DVD+R.
The video pops up fine and plays on my computer after it burns, but if I eject the disc and try to re-insert it, the DVD preview says "Supported disc not found". It did this same thing when I tried it in my Macbook.
It works fine in my standard DVD player, but I also tried it on my Playstation 3 and it did not play.
A few things I am going to try is buring directly from iDVD instead of first making a disc image, and also using DVD-R, although I heard that DVD+R is generally a better format to use.
Someone also told me that DVD+R does not play on macs, which I question.
If anyone has any other suggestions or might know why this is happening, I would greatly appreciate it. It is an important project that needs to be done soon! Thanks.

The disc image option is within iDVD: File > Save as Disc Image. If you switch to DVD map map mode you can drag your movie to a spot prior to the menu so that the movie plays automatically when put into the player. Under advanced, you can set the movie to loop.... otherwise I think it goes back to the menu when done playing. BTW, all DVDs MUST have a menu it is part of the DVD specification. It is just a matter of whether you see the menu. As far as exporting your project back to tape... you won't loose any quality and your audio, along with your video and any editing to each will export back to tape. However, a MP3 is not generally considered a higher quality file (although perhaps the recorder was closer to the source?). As a matter of fact, if you are editing your audio I strongly suggest using a file sampled at at least 16-bit/48Khz, AIFF (or WAV or anything lossless).
In regards to the slow burn speed: I agree that a slower burn speed is better than the fastest burn speed (due to error corrections ect). However, I would choose a middle of the road burn speed. If my choices are 4x, 6x, or 8x, I would choose 6x. If it is 2x, 4x, 6x, I would choose 4x. And yes, quality of blank media can effect the playback of a disc that played once just fine.

  • Problem with Organising Movies

I have a problem with organising my movies.
At present a series of iTunes moves over the years has left me with a whole mess of duplicate and triplicate movies that are difficult to reference.
So I popped the hood on iTunes and got to work.
    So far I have:
*Renamed the movies to relavent titles.
*Sorted them all into folders and organised the folder structure the way music is stored.
*Deleted duplicates and triplicates (and even more copies in some cases).
*I did this first in an old back up.
    *Then in live iTunes
*Found multiple folders with the movies.
    *One located Music>iTunes>Media>Movies
*The other located Music>iTunes>Movies (found lower down in the file structure)
Doing this made no difference to the way the movies were being displayed in iTunes.
This means iTunes is getting the info on what to show on the screen from something or somewhere else?
How can I get iTunes to show the movies on screen as they are arranged in the folders or as iTunes organises the music?
Is it something to with the "iTunes Music Library.xml" or  "iTunes Library.itl" file?
(Apologies for a lack of technical terms)
    Hope this makes enough sense
Also I have spent months of going down rabbit holes (including the Apple iTunes support guides) searching this topic and have resorted to asking.
Below is an screenshot example of what I still see in iTunes

iTunes stores media information in two places.  The primary one is in data "tags" stored in the media file itself.  When you add a media item to iTunes, iTunes gets this information and stores it in its own database too.  When you play a track iTunes quickly checks if its data still matches the item's information and if it does not it will update its information.  If you edit the track information through getting information on the track in iTunes both sets of data should be updated, including that in the files.
The above should provide most of your answers.  Some quick notes:
iTunes ignores any folder structure you make.  It ignores any changes to the file names.  Well I say ignore, because it does ignore it as far as labeling the tracks.  It does not ignore it in terms of being able to find the track.  When you add an item to iTunes, iTunes puts the file in a location and makes a note of that location in its database. When you try to play the item, iTunes looks for the file in the location in its database.  Often if you move files around in Finder, or rename them in Finder, this will cause iTunes to lose track of where the file is located and you end up with a broken link " ! ".  Hopefully your library isn't a mess right now.
As for your last questions, this is a mixture of old and new storage convention.  Read links below.  Get summary info on a track in iTunes and see which copy iTunes is actually referencing.

  • Problems with burning idvd '08

    Hello.
I am trying to burn in idvd. I have used this before with the same set up that I am currently trying to burn on. After I set up idvd with my movie dropped in the drop zone, I get the message "Burning preparation error: not enough free disk space for encoding assets."
I checked and my disk is completely free. I use JVC-R with 4.7 GB for a 28 minute quicktime movie. I have quicktime 7.0.2.
I have an external drive connected by an USB port and a firewire to my external dvd burner (i have a mac mini.
    A bit confused?
    Thanks.
    Denise

Emptying the trash does help. But so will the following:
My suggestion in this situation is to find a way to clear more HD space. You can clear video files already burned to DVD-R media, burn your iPhoto Library to DVD to clear more space , or even consider clearing languages you won't need on your system with an app like Monolingual. No problems will be created by removing unneeded language files (however it's highly recommend you avoid removing architectures on any intel mac).

  • Problem with Burning DVD/Audio

iMovie HD version 5.0.2. I have been editing movies and burning DVDs for more than a year and have not encountered this problem before. When I play my latest movie, there doesn't seem to be a problem with the music that I imported in only one of the audio tracks. However, when I try to burn a DVD, the video encoding proceeds as usual but the audio encoding stalls when it appears to be about 90% complete. I have produced movies that are 2 hours long and have not run into this problem. The current movie is a little over 1 hour long, so I don't think the length is a problem.
Background info: As in the past, the source of the movie I am editing is a DVD that Walmart converted from old video films. I CINEMATIZED the DVD which I have done in the past to be able to edit the movie. When I copied the WALMART version of the movie, I only imported/copied the video portion and NOT the audio.
I hope this explanation of my problem is detailed enough. I am not very technologically educated so I am limited in my ability to explain the details.

    Hi
    May be this applies.
    *No audio on DVD disc.*
    Most common origin:
    1 Imported audio from iTunes:
    • In iTunes copy out as an audio-CD .aiff
    • Use this in Your movie project
2 Strange audio formats like .mp3, .avi etc.
    • Change them to .aiff. Use an audio editor like Audacity (free)
    Before burning the DVD:
    • Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
    • Double click on the .img file
    • Test it with Apple DVD-player
    If OK:
    • Make Your DVD - or -
    • Burn from DiskImage with Apple Disk Util tool - and at an as slow speed as possibly eg x1
    • OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it

  • Opacity problems with exported movie

    Hi all
I'm having an issue with Motion 5. My project is 3046x1080 @ 30fps with a transparent canvas as a background and I have my timeline with about 5 clips all placed in seperate layers. All I'm trying to do is fade from one clip to the next so I first tried the 'Fade in/out' behaviour on each clip at 30 (I'm working at 30fps so this is 1 second?) and nothing appeared to happen on the canvas.  It was only once I had the fade in time up to 100 when I started to see any fading on the canvas.  I tried an export to quicktime as a test, but all the clips that had a fade in didn't fade in at all the just cut.  So, I then went in and set all the fades manually - adjusting the opacity with keyframes only to have the same result as before.
The exported movie does retain the transparent background however - Motion just seems to be ignoring the opacity levels I've set.  The only alternative I have found is to copy all my content across to my other machine and use Motion 4 - but that cripples that machine, certainly at this resolution I"m working at! Fortunately the clip I'm working on is only 30 seconds long....
Anyone got any ideas? I've searched the board but haven't found anything...
    Many thanks

Thanks for the reply!  I had checked to make sure everything was lined up but I double checked and indeed the fade in/out behaviour were indeed lined up to the clip.  The export was also set to Colour + Alpha.
Upon further testing, as I don't really want to endure working at this resolution in Motion4, I've found my error - I didn't have the premultiplied Alpha enabled - I seem to remember I had a problem with that in the past hence turning it off.
So that appears to have solved my problem.....

  • Problem with score movie

Sorry my english, but I dont speak very well. I have a real problem with garageband. Whan I select "create new score movie", it appear a new menu to select a template, or something like that, and its impossible to create a new score movie. I have delte the all program, and reinstall, but the problem is the same. What can I do?

I think you're confused about what you're seeing.
Select "New Movie Score" and you're presented with a dialogue where you enter a name for the new file you are creating.
So you're creating something, not selecting something.

  • Problem with "The Movies" game DVD

    Ok, here is my problem.
I bought the game "The Movies", at first it was working fine, but one evening, I tried to upload a movie and it just didn't do it. I tried 3 or 4 times, but I could never upload my movie.
So I stop trying and the day after when I tried to play, I put my DVD in my computer, when I tryed to play, it says put the DVD in the computer, but the DVD was already in, so I took it out, cleaned it and put it back, but then the DVD never appeared on the desktop.
I tried many other DVD/CD and everything works just fine.
Then I delete everything from the game (maybe I shouldn't have) and tried again, but nothing.
Later I learn that a Flip4Mac update was causing some problem with the game and I did something when installing a mod, I had the french version, but the .txt in the mod was in english, so I add, the english (en-UK) in a file.
Now, I rebought the game + the expansion (The Movies + The Movies Stunts & Effects, the english version this time) and the same thing is going on, the "The Movies" DVD won't appear on the desktop, but when I put "Stunts & Effects" in it works fine.
    What can I do?
    Please help.
