Problems with Canon Pixma 9000 Mark ii and Aperture

When I try to print the colors are not quite right. I noticed that when I print Aperture tells me to turn off the color management in the printer. When I try to do this it is greyed out and will not allow me to change it. When I originally installed the printer I downloaded the driver for Mac OS X v10.7. I have read about other people having this problem but I have not seen a solution. I know that the problem is that Aperture and the printer are both color managing but I can not fix it. I tried to print out of the Adobe Elements software that came with the printer because this will allow me to turn the color management off, but it will not allow me to open pictures from my Aperture library, only from photo booth. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. I really like using Aperture 3 and do not want to have to change to a different program to make this work.

Hi Richard !
Maybe the color problem comes from the color profile choosen in the dialog print box. (By the way, I print with a Canon IP4200 — under OS 10.7.2 — and it works without a stitch).
1. In Aperture (File > Print), choose the color profile that matches the paper you're using. (I never had a good result with the Canon one — but it's not significant)
2. Inside the printer dialog box, color options are greyed out and it's quite normal (see the capture below)
3. Then choose the paper quality (from the pop-up menu) and it's done... I hope...
The B-plan aka Photoshop Elements
1st method : choose your image and go to the File menu > Export > Version. (Ok... duplicate files... Maybe it's not the best choice, so...)
2nd method : go to Aperture > Preferences > Export. In front of External Photo Editor, click on Choose button (and select Photoshop Elements in the request box). When done, choose the file format (TIFF, PSD...) and the color space (typically the one used when you shot). Close the window. Right clic on the picture and select Edit with Photoshop Elements.

  • 10.5.8 to 10.4.11 with Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II

I want to print from my 10.5.8 Digital Audio to a Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II that I have attached via its USB2 card to my Yikes! G4 under 10.4.11. I am communicating with the Yikes! via a USB2 WAN wireless device, also plugged into the USB2 card.
I have the printer setup with drivers on both machines, and have the Yikes! 10.4.11 Printer Sharing turned on for the Canon. Also turned on Printer Sharing under my 10.5.8 Digital Audio.
On my DIgital Audio I have tried IP Printer setup, using the URL for the Yikes! and the computer's local host name. Everything seems to flow, except the job never starts on the printer. Just sits in the Canon's cue. I see the printer in the Printer lists.
    Any hints? Need more info?

Its a Westell versalink DSL modem and ethernet router. Has wireless capability, which I was using on the Yikes!, until it looked like I could not use my new Canon printer off the Yikes!, unless I used the hardwired ethernet.
Not sure why I cannot see the printer from the Digital Audio under 10.5.8 on the Yikes! under 10.4.11 when my connection is via my wireless Airlink USB2 adapter. Maybe Printer Sharing is turned off for the wireless because it hasn't been turned on for it also ... was for the hard wired setup ... thought it carried over for the other ... checking ...

  • Printing problems with Canon Pixma IP4700

I used to use a PC, photoshop and my Canon pixma IP4700. With this i could achieve perfect results on an A4 image. I have embedded the correct paper profile and my colour management system was set up just right. I have now upgraded to a mac(running Snow Leopard OS) , but i am now getting problems with my prints. I opened up the exact same .psd file without changing anything and sent it off to print on my canon. The result has came out far too bright?. When i used my PC I would have a lot more controls within my printer driver screen, but now with the mac the printer driver screen dosnt have very many controls at all. Even when i soft proof the print on the print screen it dose not show it any ware near as bright as the end result print.
I am a student of photography and i have asked a few of my class mates and they say that they have had the same problem. They tend to use a professional printers, but as i had received such perfect prints before I know this result is obtainable.
Is there anything anyone can suggest to help??
If there is any more information i can provide to help just let me know.
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi there,
In reading your post I'd be curious to see the cups error log. Given that the Gutenprint drivers would not print also, I would say that something is wrong with the core printing system. The log would show which filter is causing the spooler to stop.
Thinking that it is CUPS related, I would try resetting printing system (if you haven't done so already). Then I would add the queue again using the Gutenprint driver for starters. If this doesn't work then no need to try the Canon driver.
Note that the Canon test print is not an actual print but an instruction to output the inbuilt data. But the test print via the Gutenprint printer queue is a page generated by CUPS. So this would suggest that the CUPS usb backend is okay and something further up the spool creation process is failing. Again, the cups error log would give some clues as to what is going wrong. As to why both driver sets are failing is interesting...

  • Problems with Canon Pixma iP4300

I just purchased a new Canon Pixma iP4300 printer and can't find it in Printer Setup Utility to add as a new printer.
When I connect it directly to my MacBook Pro (Core Duo) it is invisible. I have downloaded the latest drivers available from Canon. Given the point below I am fairly certain it is not a problem with my USB cable either because the printer is recognised when I plug my USB printer cable into the Airport Express.
Confusingly, I can connect to it through my Airport Express base-station using Bonjour. A problem with this connection is that it does not allow me to use the utilities - so, for example, I can't align the print heads - or use any of the other software that came with the printer because it doesn't recognise the printer over the wireless network.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

And as soon as I posted this I found a spare USB cable and tried that... and it worked.
I guess the USB cable connects properly with the Airport Express and not with my MacBook Pro. Curious. Very curious.

  • Printing Problems with Canon Pixma MP830 under 10.5.5.

    Hi All.
Strange one here. I'll try to keep it short.
A client just bought a 24" iMac (running Leopard 10.5.5) and all was great until they tried to connect their Canon Pixma MP830 to it. The client installed connected the printer to the USB port in back, installed the software from the Canon CD, and soon discovered they could not print from any application -- however, they could do a test print (cleanings, alignments, test, etc.) without issue.
They ended up calling both Apple and Canon for several sessions and no one could figure it out.
So I get the call. I remove the printer completely from the system, emtpied the trash, repair permissions, blew out the user and system cache, restart and installed the fresh Leopard-friendly drivers from Canon. I also ran the firmware upgrade for the printer, which took just fine. When I did a test print -- no problem. When I tried to print from Safari -- nothing.
So I then I thought I would try the Gutenprint v5.1.3 drivers for that printer. Nada.
I downloaded the GutenPrint 5.2.0-beta4 drivers, still nada.
At a last ditch effort I tried a new USB cable, still nada.
Curious if anyone has seen this problem and perhaps as a solution? Aside from buying a new printer that is (they are already shopping, but not happy about it).
    Thanks!

  • Scanning problems with Canon Pixma MX300

    Hi!
Alright, so I can print with the canon pixma mx300, but I cannot scan. I am able to get to the scan driver (scan gear), but once it starts to scan, the program begins to become non-responsive, I can hear the printer doing something, but the program just starts to freeze. The printer is connected directly to my computer, and I have no clue what to do now.
    Erm...help

There is a possibility that some other software on your Mac is interfering with the Canon software. This could be the case if you had another brand of AIO (All in One) or a standalone scanner installed previously on this Mac.
If this was the case, then open System Preferences then Accounts. Select your account and then select Login Items. This is a list of all the items set to open when you log in. Some scanner applications will be shown in this list and if they are not related to the MX300 then this could be the problem. If you see something that you know you no longer have, then you can highlight the application and remove it by pressing minus ( - ) button. If you are not sure, write down what is listed and post it back here.
Sometimes there can be other applications that can be running in the background, but will not be shown in this list. For these types of apps, you need to have your Activity Monitor open when you attempt to scan. This will show the scangear application using a lot of your CPU resources. But hopefully it will also show another application that is running and using CPU resources, which often causes the freeze you mention. If you haven't used it before then this can be a tad daunting to look at. So if you want to take a screen grab, showing the scan gear app at the top, then post it somewhere to view I can have a look at it.
My last suggestion is to try another scanning application, like Image Capture or Preview. This can help to narrow-down the possible causes of the problem. If neither of these work, then it would suggest that ScanGear has a problem and needs removing/reinstalling. Let me know how the above suggestions go and if they are no help then I will give steps to remove the scanner software.

  • Scanning problems with Canon Pixma 5300 series after upgrading to newest Macbook Pro

Are there drivers available for Canon pixma 5300 series for OS X Mavericks 10.9?
Scanning with my brand new Macbook pro using  OS X 10.9 just isn't working like it used to with my old white Macbook.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you have an MG53xx? If so, then a scanner driver for this model is available from Apple so that you can scan with Image Capture / Preview. So if you open Printers and Scanners and select the MG53xx, you should have two tabs - Print and Scan.
Canon also has a scanning application called MP Navigator available from their web site. To use this application you will also need to download and install the scanner driver for the MG53xx, which should also be available from the same Canon web site.

  • Lan problems with canon Pixma mp990

I've just got a Canon Pixma mp990 printer - mainly because og the wireless connection. The installation worked fine on my girlfrinds Macbook with Leopard. But on my own Macbook Pro with snowleopard, i can't make it work.
I can detect the scanner - but not the printer. I've downloaded the newest drivers on canons website. Iv'e tried canons support - but the gave up. Told me it had something to do with my Snowleopard installation (apperently there was a 'other printer' button missing in the 'add printer' window. And therefor they couldnt help me!)
I've also tried installing the drivers on a new user-account on the mac - agian with no luck.
    Hope someone can help me...

With the correct Canon drivers installed, either via the Canon web site or via the Apple download, you should be able to get the MP990 working. I have the MP980 and have been printing via wireless for a couple of months now with Snow Leopard.
To add the MP990 as a network printer you need to be patient. The scanner portion of the machine appears very quickly but the printer portion, which uses the canonijnetwork protocol to publish the printer on the network, takes some time to appear (usually no longer than 10 seconds). So, when you click to Add the printer and select the Default browser view (the More Printers menu mentioned to the OP by his Canon support is used for 10.5, not 10.6) you will see the MP990 as a Bonjour Scanner very quickly. If you don't see the scanner, then something is wrong with your MP990 wireless setup. After you see the scanner just wait with the Default window open. The printer should appear after a short while. When it does, select it - the Print Using menu will automatically change to Canon MP990 series.
If the MP990 as a printer does not appear, then do you have Parallels 4 or earlier installed? This is known to stop the networked Canon printer from appearing in the Default browser view. This issue is resolved with Parallels 5, but there is an upgrade cost involved. If you don't want to part with your money, then check this forum by searching Parallels. There is information about how you can stop the Parallels virtual network ports via Terminal so that you can see the networked printer.

  • Very odd problem with Canon Pixma i4300 (color printing issue)

My printer prints black text fine, including colorful illustrations. Also eg. test photo like http://printermaster.dk/TEST/Color_Print_Test.pdf are completely fine. BUT - when I print real photography on Glossy photo paper, in approximately 1/3 of the picture I got aprox. 1 cm pinker/whiter stripe. I did all sort of cleaning, including removing and flushing print head and nothing helps. When I'm printing the same on the normal paper, I got stripes randomly in the picture - eg. 3 stripes / 3 cm long / 5mm wide. When I print without borders, the symptom again changes - the upper 3cm seems to be fine, then I can observe some horizontal lines, then again a pinker/whiter stripe and then the bottom seems to be again fine. I did all sort of recalibration, printer head alignment, different sort of paper - the result is still the same. Any idea please ? Is it time to throw it away ? Also here are some results of the alignment, it looks very strange (vertical lines?!). Head alligments / service info prints / etc. : http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=06883978457109160756

  • Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III and Aperture 2?

I was wondering if anyone using a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III can confirm if they're able to shoot tethered using Aperture 2? Though it's listed under the RAW support page, this model of camera is not supported in the knowledge base article called: Tips on tethered shooting.
I tried the demo and though it registered my camera, it wouldn't allow me to capture. Not sure if it's a limitation of the demo, or ignorance on my part. If you know for certain one way or another, please share.
    Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge the tethered shooting does not work with any of the newer Canon DSLRs. A workaround that may be good for you is the Aperture hot folder script that I used with Aperture 1.5. If you can't find t just hit the thread back.

    Hi Pedro,
How far away is your printer from your wireless access pont?  If you move the printer closer, are you able to receive a full page printout?

  • Being new to working with Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to set my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll? My husband had gotten this printer and the sales person said that it can be set up wirelessly to my Mac Book Pro

Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)

    Hello:
There is nothing wrong with asking questions.  There  are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions.
If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly.  *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.

  • Photoshop Elenents 13 does not recognize my Canon Pixma Pro Mark II 9000 printer.

Photoshop Elements 13 does not recognize my Canon Pixma Pro Mark II 9000 printer.  I get the following error message “The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements, or the saved printer is no longer available. You will need to check your printer settings before printing” and I cannot print.

I have been checking my computer files and find that PSE 13 is only the 32 bit system and my computer is a 64 bit system.  In PSE 12 I was able to take the Adobe
Twain Driver (Twain 32 bit} in to the Optional Plug-in folder and then my Canon Scanner would work with PSE 12.  My printer Canon Pixma Mark II 9000 worked with PSE 12.  Now that I have upgraded to PSE 13 neither the scanner or my printer will work.  There I no “Optional Plug-in Folder” in PSE 13.  Is there some way that I can drag files into PSE 13 that will enable both my scanner and printer to work?  My scanner is a Canon Canoscan 8800.
Or must I go back to using PSE 12.

  • Problem with Canon RAW 5D/7D Raw file and Magenta highlights

    Hi everyone,
I've noticed a problem with some Canon RAW nightly shots when in scene are present magenta spotlights (also red and blue):
In the core of light, magenta color become "solarized" and white burned, and there is no way to recover it with any Adjustments. (also but in minor way, Red and Blue lights)
Opening the RAW file in Canon Digital Photo Pro the same images are perfect:
(left image Aperture3 - right image Canon DPP)
    Any suggestion?

I have exactly the same problem with the 7D RAW files. I have tried Leopard+ Aperture 2, Snow Leopard + Aperture 3 trial and nothing makes a difference. Horrible magenta colour cast on the neutral tones, yet the blues are over-saturated and total lack of sharpness no matter what you do.
I shot JPEG (neutral) and RAW together so know what they should look like. I don't get any problems with Canon DPP software so the error seems to be in the Aperture RAW converter. The issue seems to be more apparent in low light or images with a lot of neutral tones, other images shot outside in good light appear to be pretty much ok. I even tried the latest version of Lightroom and that can't seem to handle them well either.
The link below was a thread that was running on the 7D problems, but no solution was ever provided.
