Problems with car power inverter

It seems that my 300w Wenchi car power inverter does not work with my recently purchased MacBook Pro 13?
Info abot my Wenchi (Made in Taiwan) Power Inverter:
Model No: WHS-300
DC Input Voltage:12V-14V
AC Output Voltage: 230V
AC Output ferquency: 50Hz
Output power: 300W
Output wave form: modified Sine Wave
I appreciate very much if anyone can help.
Thanks

I have done it and the output is 230V. My inverter is a big one which can be used even with devices like TV etc.. I mean that the problem is that my Macbook Pro does not like modified sine wave. Yesterday purchased 10 x smaller, fully quiet car adapter for Macbook Pro with magnet contact and got so needed incar power supply immediately.

  • Powering MacBook Pro via Car Power Inverter issue

    Hello,
I recently acquired a car power inverter from a family member to use on a trip this week. My wife and I tried it out tonight and found that it didn't work with our MacBook Pro. The Inverter is a 500watt / 4.2amp inverter. When we plug in the adapter to power the macbook pro the LED on the inverter blinks signaling to us a problem. The manual (and back of the inverter) reports that a blinking LED means one of three things, (1)DC input is out of range,(2)Excessive Load, or (3)Unit is too hot. Clearly it wasn't the third considering we JUST turned on the unit. The back of the inverter also says that the Output is 120V AC, 60hz and 500watts. My question is, what exactly is the necessary range of power needed to power the MacBook Pro's adapter? Could the battery be an issue if it was at about 10% charged(I thought it might be and removed it but still didn't get a working adapter)?
In case it matters, the power inverter is a "Vector Maxx SST(Soft Start Technology) 500watt".
    Thanks for the help!

Hmm, I use an "el cheapo" inverter that I got at fry's that's rated for MUCH less then 500 Watts, (about 120 actually) that has no problems running mine so I would suggest that it's probably a problem with your inverter...

  • Problems with my power adapter!!!!

I just got a new adapter for my Powerbook G4 the other day because the wiring at the plug on my old one wore out. My problem is that the new adapter, when plugged into my computer, sometimes just stops working like it has been unplugged or something. After unplugging the adapter from the wall socket and reinserting, it works fine until my computer goes to sleep. At some point in sleep mode, the little light from the plug in the computer turns off and my computer is only running on battery. This in itself is not that bad, but it gets to be a hassle having to unplug and then re-plug the wall plug everytime my computer goes to sleep. Can anyone help me understand this a little better?

I purchased by G4 six months ago. Since Day one, I have had problems with the power. If I leave the computer plugged into the outlet 24 hours a day, the battery will slowly begin to drain. Even if I never unplug the power source from my computer, the computer begins to drain battery life. For example, I went to bed with my computer charged @ 100%. This morning (all while my computer was sleeping), I have 8% Battery Life left.
I've spent 5-6 phone calls with Apple Care on this issue with no resolution. I sent my G4 off to Apple Care 2 weeks ago and they returned it with a "We Don't Recognize a Problem". I about went through the roof. And, yes, this happens with any outlet I use.
I expect more from a $2500+ machine and their "award winning" customer service.
    Help?

  • Is anyone else having problems with the power button?

Someone at work also said they were having a problem with their power button not working? Is it hardware or maybe software?

I had the same problem with my new macbook air. It was scratchy and annoying so I updated the speaker's software and now it's perfect.

So i have this power inverter that says 200w continuous/ 400w peak power.
    its from QuantumFX PWR80
    input voltage 12V DC
    output voltage 110+/- 10V AC
USB output 5V DC (max 1000mA)
    Continus output 200W
    peak output 400w
    output freq. 60+/- hz
    low volt. protection 9.2-9.8V DC
    over volt. protection15-16.5V DC
    overload Protection >240W
I have the newest macbook pro 15" 2.2 ghz qua core i7
will this work fine with my mac? or is eit too much power or too little idk haha please help a fellow mac user.

I use inverters extensively and have found that getting a good inverter is not that easy; here are some issues to think about:
    1. you need to have an inverter that supplies enough continuous power (not just peaking power) to your device.  So if you have a 17" MacBook Pro, like I have, you need an inverter that continuously supplies at least 85 watts of power.  One that only supplies more than 85 watts peak power is not good enough.
    2. you need to have an inverter that is large enough in size to dissipate energy efficiently.  Some inverters that theoretically supply enough continuous power still heat up, and then go into an off/on cycle to keep the temperature down.  Trouble is, every time the inverter cycles off, the computer screen dims; which is really annoying.
    3. many of the smaller inverters use a fan to keep them cool.  Trouble is, most of the fans are noisy- which is also annoying.  Also, when the fan turns on, they draw more current, which causes the power to vary, which may affect your screen brightness.
    4. inverters should have a cord- otherwise, they are sometimes difficult to stick into a cigarette lighter plug.
I have not found a really good inverter yet- if someone does, please let me know.  A good inverter would have the following characteristics:
    1. provides enough continuous power to keep the computer charged and running.
    2. dissipates energy efficiently with metal fins so that it doesn't need to go into an on/off cycle to keep the temperature low enough.  If the inverter must go into an on/off cycle, your computer screen will dim every time the inverter is off- which is distracting.
    3. doesn't have a noisy fan that also draws power and cycles on/off, and therefore is also distracting.
    4. has a high efficiency (you should buy one with at least 85% efficiency; most of them do).
    5. has a cord, as opposed to a rigid plug that is pushed into your cigarette lighter.
    6. is as small in size as possible, and as inexpensive as possible- but without compromising the basic need to supply continuous, steady power without having the screen dim or building up too much heat.
There are two basic types of inverters: ones that supply pure sine wave power, and ones that supply modified sine wave power.  The pure sine wave inverters supply "smoother" power (more steady voltage)- but are much more expensive, and, I understand, not needed for powering computers.

  • Touchscreen problems when using power inverter

We have just purchased a Envy 27 recline for our caravan for all the good features this HP has and TV
Of cause at times will want to run the HP off a 12v true sine wave 400watt inverter.
We tried this to find a problem, the computer worked ok but the touch screen ran a muck and did not work as normal.
So after much googling and some reading I am here looking fo answer from HP.
As I can't beleive I would be the first to come across this problem and wanting to put this all in one into a motor home.
From what I have read it could be an issue of dirty power from the inveter, yet we thought we have purchase the best true sine wave brand we could from our battery guys here in Australia.
Any advice would greatfully be recieved.
    This question was solved.

Thanks Lou, firstly for your time and secondly for your thoughts and advice.
We finally have it working off an inverter power with out issue.
But I have to say without any worthy help from HP's offical telephone help line.
Lou, I work through many of your suggestions as I waited for the offical reply to my telephone inquiry about what Brand or type of inverter or UPS I should use with my Envy Recline.
Well, it's very sad that a massive company like HP with what you would think would be a very large R&D department, can't answer such a simple question, like what type of inverter or UPS would they recommend to work with the Recline's touch screen.
The poor people I was talking to, had no idea what I was talking about or what I was trying to do. How does a computer call centre peason not know what an UPS is, I can understand about an inverter, but tech people, they are really very similar things in different boxes.
Ok, if you have this problem with your inverter and touch screen, firstly not all inverters are equal even in the same brand as I found out. I would like to thank my Battery & Inverter supplier for their time and allowing me to set up the HP Envy Recline in the back of their shop and to try different inverters, UPS's and batteries.
I am going to mention brands here, not to rat out the brand, but as it maybe helpful to someone else in Australia in the future. It seem my "Epower DCAC 400w 12v True Sine Inverter" was not up to the job when it came to supplying clean AC power needed to run the touch screen without issue.
In the end we tried an "Epower 12v DCAC 1000w  True Sine Wave", really just to give it a go, not thinking it would be any better being the same brand as the 400w unit, well it worked quite O.K.
This Epower 12 v 1000w True Sine Wave unit, solved our touch screen problems and ran HP Envy Recline as if it was operating on normal AC mains power.
If anyone interested for there motor home, I found this setup draw between 4-5 amps from the 12v batteries and about 41 watts @ 240 volts runing a you tube clip.
Well that's my experences and end result, I hope this helps someone else in the future, as I am sure HP will not be able to.
    Thanks All.

  • Minor Problem with MagSafe Power Adapter

I got my MBP almost a year ago now (partially why I'm asking the question) and I've noticed that my power adapter doesn't always show the charge light. Sometimes it is not on at all, and sometimes it is less bright in color (both green and amber).
If I remove it and put it back it usually corrects itself.
It if fully functional; even if the light is completely out and plugged in it still shows as charging.
So, is this normal? I never remember having this sort of problem with my PB G4.

I would think the led light on my adapter cable was broken, but I discovered it works fine on a co-workers MBP. His adapter, which we know works, does NOT work (ie. the led does not come on) when attached to my computer. This indicate to me that the problem, whatever it is, can sometimes be with the computer and not the adapter.
I would be curious if others with apparently dead leds have tried their chargers on other MBPs.
Here's the long version of my story:
My 5W MagSafe completely fried after only 9 months.
The new adapter was fine for several days until this morning.
My "low battery" warning popped up, so so I plugged it in to recharge and immediately noticed the little led on the charger cord did not come on.
I found it hard to believe that I had another bad adapter, so before making the trip back to the store, I went into the studio where there are some other MBP users.
I plugged my adapter into another laptop and the led came on. It appeared to function completely normally. I tried MagSafe adapters from two other MBPs, but the led did not come on on either of them while attached to my computer.
This made me think there was some sort of problem with the connector on the computer itself. Just visually, it appears to be clean and corrosion free.
The next obvious step, it seemed, would have been to try swapping batteries with the other laptops, but mine is a 17" and everyone else here has 15"... and so we have different battery sizes.
One of the people here at the studio had a little utility called "Coconut Battery", that reports information about the battery health. When I ran it on my laptop, I got what I thought were rather surprising results.
It showed the usual things like current charge (21%), battery capacity and so on. But under "Additional Info" it said "Charger connected: Yes" and "Battery is charging: No".
I figured this narrowed it down to a problem with the battery. But as I was showing these results to my co-worker, the "Current Battery Charge" changed from 21 to 22%. Huh? We left it plugged in and it continued to show a steady climb in the charge, as if it is working normally. Except there is no led light, and the software still says it is not charging. Odd.
I then noticed that the built-in battery level indicator on the status bar was also showing the same increases. The led lights on the back of the battery are indicating an increase as well.
Just out of curiosity, I ran a second battery health analyzer program and again got these conflicting results. This one reported the same battery charge and capacity and so on as the previous one. It also recognized that the laptop was running off of AC power, that there was a battery, but it said "Not Chargeable."
So now I am going to let it continue until I have a full charge and then see if the computer will run as usual from the battery.
I don't think the store here is going to give me another adapter since this one appears to work just fine on the other computers.
Any thoughts on why the led would work on other laptops but not mine?
Why the battery health monitors report that the battery is being charged, but also that it is "not chargeable"?

  • 9860 Bluetooth problems with car hands-free

I have a Torch 9860 that has problems with my new 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. I can pair it with the bluetooth in the car, and it will sometimes keep the connection on the next trip, but usually I get a 'connection failed' message.
If I revert to the previous OS version, the problem goes away. I had to have the phone replaced recently, though, and the problem is back. It works great with a Jabra earpiece, but not with the car. I could do the same downgrade, but I would prefer not to.
    Any ideas, please?
    Thanks!

Another user posted, and it worked for me ... go into the properties of the Bluetooth connection and disable everything except 'handsfree dialing.' You will probably then have to re-pair. You won't get streaming music, but I never use that anyway. Hyunday is supposed to be working on a fix, and gave me a rough date of the end of the month. Good luck!

  • Macbook Late 2011 freezing, problem with CPU power management.

    Hi everyone.
I have Macbook Pro 15 Late 2011. And i have a problem with it.
When laptop is cold, sometimes, it can freeze. Other then this there's no problems with it, no problems at all.
I solved this problem by deleting AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext, so for now it's getting a little hotter (not very).
And my question: is there any utility or app, which could let me see what AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext is doing with system, so i could see what causing freezes. I don't have apple services in my country, so i can't bring this laptop to repair.
And if you don't know answer to this question, but know forum, where i might find answers, please write it.
    Thanks in advance.
Sorry for language, i'm not an english speaking.

Catfish, if you're on AC power, and you don't run with a fully charged battery in the machine, then it won't run at full performance. Plus, if the battery is worn out, then it won't charge to nearly its original full capacity, and thus the machine won't run at full performance on AC power.
Note that, if you leave the battery in a drawer for months without using it, that can kill the battery.
    Good luck!

  • Problems with car charger

I dont think i have read anything like this on the forums yet. Im on my second torch and although i like it a lot being (personal opinion) best blackberry yet (functionwide) , I feel it has some issues that are making me think a lot. I had a problem with the first one, i was charging it in my car (original BB charger) and some times i would see the lighting icon with the phone charging and sometimes not. I wanted to know if it was charging or not, so i tested for minutes looking at the battery % and nothing. Then the phone started to overheat and was not charging anymore, i took it to best buy mobile where i purchased it and they gave me different car chargers to test it. I did test it but i told them that my charger was orgiunal blackberry accesory and that i charge a 9700 and a 8520 from my wife. Nothing happened, they gave me a new phone. With the new one i noticed the b atter life was superb, was way better. but after 4-5 days (yesterday) the battery went dead at 5pm with slight use on the day, i tried charging the cellphone while eating, so i left it charging in the car and when i returned the phone was hot and not charging. Im really confused
    Things i know>
    1. its not the car charger, its charging other BB fine and its original accesory
    2. Its not the lighter in my car cause i also charge other phones
    please advice

I too am on my second torch in 8 days. I am also having a problem with the car charger. The lightning bolt goes off while charging, especially when I am using AT&T Navigator. The second phone is not as bad as the first one was, but I don't know how well it will do in the weeks to come.
I had this same problem with my original AT&T Blackberry, the 8900. In that case, a battery swap solved the problem. With the Torch, I really don't know what is going on, but this is a serious problem because I use the AT&T Navigator all the time in my business and I have to keep my battery charged.
I hope Blackberry recognizes that there IS a problem and fixes it.

  • Blutooth Problem with car stereo and iPhone5

Got new iPhone 5 yesterday and paired it with car stereo for handsfree use. When I make a call I can use radio answer button and the speakers.  When I receive a call I can only use handset. iPhone 4 worked fine so I doubt it is the car. I deleted and repaired the phone yet still the same issue. Help?

        Hey nippers1!
It does sound like we have a conflict with your device and your car Bluetooth. Thanks for doing that great troubleshooting! I would like to ask, have you checked with your car manufacture to see if the phone was compatible with your car's Bluetooth? Sometimes different devices that have different Bluetooth profiles will work differently. Can other iPhone 5s connect at all? Can your iPhone 5 connect and use other Bluetooths fully? Also, are you having any problems with making and receiving calls in general? Also, is your device up to date? Please make sure it is on the most current software. Please report back!

  • Pairing with problems with car radio system

    Hi
I have a Blackberry 8700 which I need to pair with the Radio in a Land Rover Freelander 2 (same for Jaguar, Volvo and some other Ford based Radios). It would not connect at all and I was advised to download an applet from Blackberry and it does now connect but I don't get the phone numbers/ contacts/ call logs to transfer. The O/S version is 4.2.1.94. Does anyone know how to get full functionality. Frustratingly it fully connects with my portable Garmin Sat Nav. I know car radios are not always the most flexible things but it is really frustrating as otherwise the hands free calls are fine.
