Problems with CS3

Hi,
I recently switched from GoLive to Dreamweaver and I am so
frustrated.
Here are the problems I am running into:
1. Freezing and crashing when going to Manage Sites and Edit
Site Definitions.
2. Problem uploading images. Getting error message
saying:mages:teacup.jpg - error occurred - An FTP error occurred -
cannot put teacup.jpg. Access denied. The file may not exist, or
there could be a permission problem.
File activity incomplete. 1 file(s) or folder(s) were not
completed.
Files with errors: 1
Images:teacup.jpg
I have no problem uploading the same image when using GoLive.
3. Saving a page, but when I upload the page, the changes are
not there. (and yes, I have cleared the cache)
I am using a Mac, OSX 10.4.11
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I miss GoLive.

  • Epson Printing Problem with CS3

My Epson Stylus Pro 9600 has a problem with CS3 printing. When printing large images (i.e. 36x60) a portion of the image would be missing at the bottom (blank) The 10.01 update addressed this issue but it seems not completely. The problem was attributed to using a "Custom" print resolution however I still have this problem and after much testing I have narrowed it down to the "Finest Detail" check box under the custom, advanced tab. Checking this "Finest Detail" check box reproduces the problem.
I'm not sure where the problem lies whether it be Photoshops new stripped down print code or Epsons drivers. For the mean time I will keep this feature de-selected. Hope this helps other frustrated Epson Owners.
Vista 32, dual quad xeon 2.33
Photoshop CS 3.3 Extended (Masters Collection)
Epson Stylus Pro 9600, Drivers ver 5.52, current printer bios

Adobe blamed Epson drivers for not anticipating CS3's changes. Like they're clairvoyant or something. Their reason was that it was too hard to take into account every printer on the market when writing the new (unasked for) CS3 printing module. A feeble excuse when it comes to Epson pro machinery, though - it is the industry standard, after all.
Solution? - use CS2 for printing, authored back when Adobe wrote its software to be compatible with existing equipment and drivers, not expecting the world to fall into line with whatever it decided it would do. CS2 works flawlessly with my 7800, CS3 remains a basket case for the same reasons you mention, though checking/unchecking the fine detail box makes no difference. CS3 is erratic - sometimes it works as directed, but then out of nowhere it will suddenly decide to attenuate a pano print.
We'll see if they get it right with CS4's "improved" printing, but don't hold your breath.

  • Has anyone had a problem with CS3 crashing after downloading OS 10.8.1 on a imac?

Has anyone had a problem with CS3 crashing after downloading OS 10.8.1 on a imac?

    Peggy
You are probably correct. I tried all different variations to test it. As long as I quit each document separately, i.e., red dot it, I seem to bring up only one document after that whether I click on the document itself or open it within pages. The same is true with numbers.
    Two more questions:
    1) can you turn off the "resume" feature? If so, how? I could not find a way to do it.
    2) why the "save a version" feature in pages? What happened to the old "save" and "save as" features?
Thanks so much, you saved me a lot of frustration but I am still going to install MS Office for Mac.

  • Banding problems with CS3 at 100% zoom

Just upgraded from CS2 to CS3: I always shoot in RAW, then zoom in 100% in RAW converter to check quality. I also work in 16 bit and using CS2 the tonal gradation is brilliant. However the same photo opened with CS3 Bridge shows banding when I zoom in. Same happens when I convert and open the image in Photoshop. Great in CS2, banding appears in CS3.
    Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks for the reply Christopher. I did check colour settings, but good idea. I'm happy to say I've resolved it myself, having wasted 2 days with the Adobe support line.
Figured it had to be something to do with the screen so changed to a higher resolution and that seemed to cure it. Even so, I thought somethings not right. Read the 'Readme' notes more carefully and spotted the paragraph about updating my graphics card driver. I did this and now seems to be working fine.

  • Printing problems with CS3 Design Premium

I have had no problems with my copy of CS3 Design Premium running first on my Mac OS 10.6 and now on OS 10.7 and the program still runs will except when I do a Command P, the program quits. I do not even get to the printer page. I sometimes get a message when reopening the program, "Cannot handle the request because a modal dialog or alert is active." Anyone else have this kind of problem?

  • Printing Problems with CS3 and Epson R1800

Recently upgraded to CS3 and have now lost most printing options for Epson Stylus Photo R1800. Had no problems with CS2 running in Leopard. Anyone know what has happened?

    >"Unfortunately then I'd have to say all bets are off. The only true test is to print with the standard materials that Epson has designed their printer for. Only if that works well should you be trying third-party materials. For example, third-party inks in general are of poorer quality, are inconsistent, clog more, and in the long run, do not save you anywhere the amount of money they advertise over the genuine Epson products."
Getting very nice results with an R1800, Inkjetfly CIS, and Red River paper. The R1800 has never had Epson ink run through it and has no abnormal clogging problems. In fact, clogs are rare.
Getting near perfect matches to the monitor with both Colorvision and x-rite calibrating/profiling equipment. The printer stays on 24-7 so the only ink used, other than printing, is a periodic nozzle check. I am not alone in this, so blanket statements like the above are specious at best.
And no, I don't sell prints for big bux, so whether they are going to last a hundred years is not a concern. Besides, until someone is around long enough to verify those claims, the jury is out. I've got color prints from the wet days that are fading after 20+ years. Third party inks are not necessarily lower quality than OEM. One of the reasons for the development of high quality third party inks was the dissatisfaction of B&W and fine art printers with the OEM products.
Of course the cheap refilled/knockoff carts being hawked on ebay and the like are a different story.

  • Problems with CS3 and Epson 4800

I am running Leopard on a Pro tower with CS3. I have a Dell laser printer along with a 4800. A few weeks ago, I set the Dell to be the default printer. All my prints on the Epson started coming out extremely flat, not matching my calibrated monitor at all. I finally set the 4800 to be the default printer and the prints looked normal again. No idea why that would happen. It baffles me. Driver conflict?
However, I am still having two problems. First, when I soft proof, the soft proof screen looks nothing like the print. I am selecting the correct print profile in the Custom screen. The soft proof looks dark and weird.
Second, the gamut warning is greyed out and unavailable to me, regardless of anything I try.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong or suggestions for fixes?
    Thanks

  • Problems with CS3 and Leopard

Having a bit of a nightmare with Indesign and Photoshop CS3 since upgrading to Leopard. Running a Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 With 2GB DDR SDRAM. Anyone else having problems?

Below is the Adobe Marketing Line (copied verbatim). It's what I was told by Adobe Sales and what I read at Adobe.com, FAQ, before buying CS3 in October 07. Imagine my surprise when I discovered all of the issues with CS3 and Leopard, even after the update to Acrobat 8.1.2 Professional which promised full compatibility (see chart at bottom).
    Apple and Adobe... ARGH.
Oh yes, for all of the new suckers out there who are about to buy CS3 for their new Macs, the exact same FAQ is at Adobe.com, even now, Thursday, 12 Jun 2008.
ADOBE CREATIVE SUTIE 3 Frequently Asked Questions
Support for Mac OS X Leopard
    Q. Is Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5) important to Creative Suite 3 customers?
    A. Yes, Mac OS X Leopardthe latest version of Apples operating systemdelivers an elegant,
productive new computing experience for creative professionals. Adobe and Apple have been
collaborating closely for months to ensure that Adobe Creative Suite® 3 applications can run
smoothly and reliably on Mac OS X Leopard. We are proud to support this impressive new
operating system, and to ensure that our creative customers can take full advantage of the
performance and value of using Creative Suite 3 applications and Mac OS X Leopard on
    Intel-based and PowerPC Macs.
    Q. Are Adobe Creative Suite 3 applications compatible with Mac OS X Leopard (v10.5)? If
some are not fully compatible today, when will they be compatible?
    A. Thanks to close collaboration between Adobe and Apple, most of the CS3 applications and associated technologies, such as Adobe Bridge CS3, Version Cue CS3, and Device Central CS3, are compatible with Mac OS X Leopard without requiring additional updates. However, the following CS3 applications will require updates for full compatibility with Leopard: Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and our professional video applications, including Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, After Effects CS3 Professional, Encore CS3, and Soundbooth CS3. We expect to publish free Leopard compatibility updates for the video applications in December 2007 and for Acrobat 8 Professional and Adobe Reader 8 in January 2008. For a complete overview of compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard, see the chart on page 2 of this FAQ.
    Q. Will older versions of Adobe creative softwaresuch as Creative Suite 2 and
Macromedia Studio 8 softwaresupport Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. While older Adobe applications may install and run on Mac OS X Leopard, they were
designed, tested, and released to the public several years before this new operating system became available. You may, therefore, experience a variety of installation, stability, and reliability issues for which there is no resolution. Older versions of our creative software will not be updated to support Mac OS X Leopard. For a complete overview of compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard, see the chart on page 2.
    Q. Will Adobe continue to test CS3 applications on Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. Yes. Adobe sets high standards of quality, stability, and reliability for our professional creative
products, and we have worked closely with Apple to test Creative Suite 3 applications on both pre-release versions and the final shipping version of Mac OS X Leopard. While this testing showed that most CS3 applications perform well on Leopard (and that others run well but need updates for a few identified issues), we recognize that other issues may unexpectedly arise on any new operating system. We plan to continue testing and to monitor user experience closely to address any such issues. If you encounter any issues, please report them by going to www.adobe.com/misc/bugreport.html and clicking Report
A Bug. Please note that we dont respond to submissions, but we do review them closely with the appropriate CS3 product teams.
    Q. Which CS3 applications will need patches to be compatible with Mac OS X Leopard?
    A. The following table summarizes compatibility between Adobe creative applications and Mac OS X Leopard. It notes which CS3 applications require updates for full Leopard compatibility and when Adobe expects to release those free updates.

  • Wacom tablet problems with CS3

I've had Flash 8 which was fine with my Wacom tablet.
However, now that I've downloaded Flash CS3 it's caused problems
with my Wacom tablet even if I return to Flash 8. For example, if I

  • Problem with CS3 InCopy text files and InDesign CS5

I have a large annual magazine that I am developing. There is one section that doesn't change much from year to year and I was hoping to grandfather in the InCopy text files from last year's edition. I've successfully used this strategy the past few years without issue. However, now when I try to check out those text files from last year, I receive the following message "This story needs to be coverted to "InCopy Document" format in order to edit it."
I am running both InDesign CS5 and InCopy CS5 in SL 10.6.4. The previous year's magazine document was in CS3 InDesign format and the text files were in InCopy CS3. Is there some sort of compatibility issue? Is there a specific method for converting them so I can check them out in InDesign? I haven't attempted to check them out in InCopy CS5 yet but I will try that next. But I really need the ability to check out the content via InDesign too.
    Thanks in advance.
    Robert

AFAIK, you're going to actually need to open the INCX files in InCopy and then resave them as ICML file. You can then relink them all in InDesign.
Other choice is killing the InCopy links and then relinking everything.
Best practice would be to finish any job started in CS3 with CS3 and then move to CS5 with new projects.

  • Tablet problems with CS3 on Vista

I keep hearing about this particular problem with Macs, but...
I have a Wacom Graphire4 tablet with the latest drivers installed on Home Premium. Whenever I open Photoshop, though, (even if I try double-clicking with the pen) the cursor lags severely - I'm often waiting at least 5 seconds after the movement to actually have the cursor to move to its destination. I also can't draw on a blank document, as trying to click or press with the pen tip yields no response.
The tablet works fine on my laptop (running on XP) with Elements 5, but for some reason, not this one. Help?

well i have vista too and flash 8 and it is working perfect
for me so i don't what to tell you.

  • Recurring ftp connection problems with CS3

I've been experiencing recurring connection problems to a live server.
The settings have not changed, and the "test" verifies connection is working.
I can connect to the site via ftp successfully using the same information.
All I see in the remote server box is /www/ ,  I cannot open the folder however.
The only way to resolve is to delete my profile on the computer and recreate.   This fixes it for up to 1 week, but sometimes as little as 24 hours.
Others who log in to the same machine and use Dreamweaver are able to connect successfully.
I work on a network and do use 2 separate work stations.   On one of these workstations is also installed Avid Newscutter, the full Adobe CS suite and a programme called Flip (for working with xml).    I had no problems until I started working at this terminal.
The company technical support is at a loss, so I was hoping folk here might have some suggestions?  I've been using Dreamweaver, various versions both at work and home for many years and have never experienced a problem like this before.
    thanks.
    Karen

    Hi Jon
I am getting two error messages, one that says that the log on info/password is wrong, the other is a large message that tells me to check everything from cables to firewalls. My provider has recently been updating their systems and I have had to change passwords etc, but they insist that it is nothing to do with them. I am sure that they have changed some protocols or something that dreamweaver won't recognise.
I am connected to the internet via a cable to a belkin router and have no problems with internet connections.
I have tested the adobe ftp test connection through dreamweaver which worked fine.
    I haven't tried filezilla - I'll have a look.

  • Activation problems with CS3 and PS6

I own CS3 standard edition for Windows. Recently I upgraded Photoshop only to CS6.
All works well with PS/CS6. However, when I go back to use CS3 applications, the programs won't run. In Acrobat - the program I'm trying to run now - I get the error "Adobe Acrobat 8.1.3 cannot be launched..." and am told to open another CS3 program. I tried that, only to be told my CS3 is no longer registered.
I got out the CS3 disks, entered the serial number, and am now told I have too many activations. This makes no sense at all, as I just removed CS3 from my laptop.
Can someone tell me how I can run my CS3 programs with PS/CS6? I cannot afford to update the whole suite; that's just not an option.
    Thanks,
    Ed B

    Hi Ed B,
First, if I understand your initial question, you have two fully purchased licensed Adobe products: CS3 Standard and PS6.  Second, you had CS3 installed on your desktop and laptop…within Adobe is licensing agreement.  Third, when you began to experiencing problems, you uninstalled CS3 from your laptop and proceeded to reregister CS3 on your desktop—I can help you with that.
If you did not “deactivate” CS3 on your laptop prior to its uninstallation, it’s still showing as one of your two permissible registrations.  I ran into the same issue with CS5.5 after a rebuild.  I had to call Adobe licensing division and tell them what I did; they corrected my error on their part and I was good to go.  For future uninstalls:
    fire up any CS3 app
click the Help button on the main menu
    select “Deactivate”
    then uninstall your product.
Now, as to PS3 and PS6 being on the same system…there’s no problem.  Just make sure that PS6 has its own/correct license number.  To check this is the same method as when you deactivate:
    Open PS6
    click Help button
select Activate and make sure the code displayed is correct, or put in the new product code.
After that, you should be good to go.
    Hope this helps.

  • Username and password problems with CS3

    I have Dreamweaver CS3 Version 9.0 Build 3481
When I close Dreamweaver and reopen it I lose any usernames
    and passwords for FTP.
How do I solve this? The 8.0.2. Updater does not work for my
    version.
    Thank you

Adobe got back to me and gave me some info I'll share that
might help others who have this problem. YES the fix did work for
me, I'm running Dreamweaver 9 or the CS3 version and was losing
user name and password each time I re-opened the program.
You can find the fix at
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=3491671c&sliceId=2
Basically it's a registry fix, appears when you have Explorer
    7.0 installed.
Warning: Editing the Windows Registry incorrectly can cause
serious problems that may require reinstalling your operating
system. Adobe does not guarantee that problems caused by editing
the registry incorrectly can be resolved. Edit the registry at your
    own risk.
    1. Launch the Registry Editor by clicking the Start button,
choose Run, then type "regedit". In the Registry Editor, navigate
    to this folder:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
    Explorer\User Shell Folders\
    2. See if there is a key called AppData.
    # Backup the Users Shell Folders registry branch as follows:
    1. Right-click the Users Shell Folders folder and select
    "Export".
    2. In the "Export range" section, choose "Selected branch".
    3. Save the .reg file to the desktop.
    4. If problems occur after editing the registry,
double-clicking the .reg file will re-install that registry branch.
    # If the AppData key is missing, then perform the following
steps. If the AppData key exists, then skip to Step 5.
    1. On the right side of the Registry Editor explorer pane,
right-click in a blank area anywhere under the last key in the
list. You should get a context menu that says "New" with a flyout
    menu.
    2. In the flyout menu, select "Expandable String Value" and
    name the new key AppData.
    # Right-click the new AppData key (or the existing one if it
was already there), select Modify, and enter the following in the
Value Data field: %USERPROFILE%\Application Data. If the values for
the other keys in your User Shell Folders directory don't start
with %USERPROFILE%, then use the value that your other keys use.
For example, if your Local Settings key has a value of u:\Local
    Settings, then try usingu:\Application Data.
    # Open Dreamweaver, re-enter the FTP login information for
one of your sites, and see if the FTP login is now saved when you
    close and re-open Dreamweaver.
    Worked for me.
    Thanks Adobe

  • Problems with CS3 updates

I have been having some massive issues with trying to install an Aja Xena card on my PC which I won't bore you with, but I currently have about 40 or 50 projects I'm working on in Premiere CS3. All were going well until the attempted Aja install and I have finally uninstalled all of the Aja software and hardware and done a CS3 reinstall. Now one of the interesting things when trying to open a CS3 project when the Aja was installed was that jpgs in the timeline were stretched horizontally and bmp images which were previously there simply disappeared and would only reappear if placed in a directory higher than the project. Now Aja is gone and the reinstall of CS3 has taken place, the problems aren't evident if I don't do a CS3 update, but as soon as I do the update then the jpg images on the Premiere timeline get stretched horizontally. The bmp issues aren't there. Any ideas anyone? My workround at the moment is just to ignore the updates, but this whole episode has cost me about 3 weeks of productive work.....

I have solved it for premiere pro cs3 (Vista Ultimate 32bit - installed version was Premiere Pro 3.1.1)
FIRST I HAVE DELETED ALL CONTENT IN THE FOLDER
    C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Temp
    RUN THE
    premiere_pro_3.2.0_update.exe
AGAIN AND IT ABORT (because of 'The update is unable to locate the product to be updated.' - wrong version number in the config.xml)
    THEN CHANGE IN
    C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\Patcher\Patcher6108
    THE FILE
    config.xml
    THE LINE
    3.0
    TO
    3.1.1 (Your current version number)
    SECOND CHANGE IN
    C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\Patcher\Patcher5688
    THE FILES
    config.xml
    THE LINE
    3.0
    TO
    3.1.1 (Your current version number)
    THEN RUN IN THE FOLDER
    C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\Patcher\Patcher6108\Installer
    THE
    PatcherApplication.exe
    AGAIN.
After this the Premiere Pro CS3 update was succesfully installed.
Maybe it works also for other CS3 Products under Vista.
