hi,
I'm not sure what your applet is suppose to do but i've made some changes. I've moved your Container object declaration out of the "init()", and instead of "pressButton" I changed it to "pushButton" and "display()" to "con.setVisible(true)".
hope this will resolve your issue. Here is the edited code:
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
public class lifeCycle extends JApplet implements ActionListener
JLabel messageInit = new JLabel("init ");
JLabel messageStart = new JLabel("start ");
JLabel messageDisplay = new JLabel("display ");
JLabel messageAction = new JLabel("action ");
JLabel messageStop = new JLabel("stop ");
JLabel messageDestroy = new JLabel("destroy ");
JButton pushButton = new JButton("Hit me!");
int countInit, countStart, countDisplay, countAction, countStop, countDestroy;
Container con = getContentPane(); // Moved from init() to here
public void init(){
con.setLayout (new FlowLayout());
++countInit;
con.add(messageInit);
con.add(messageStart);
con.add(messageDisplay);
con.add(messageAction);
con.add(messageStop);
con.add(messageDestroy);
con.add(pushButton);
pushButton.addActionListener(this);
// edited from "pressButton" to "pushButton"
con.setVisible(true); //used the Container object you created
// instead of "display()";
showStatus("complete");
public void start(){
++countStart;
con.setVisible(true); //used the Container object you created
// instead of "display()";
showStatus("complete");
public void stop(){
++countStop;
con.setVisible(true); //used the Container object you created
// instead of "display()";
showStatus("complete");
public void destroy(){
++countDestroy;
con.setVisible(true); //used the Container object you created
// instead of "display()";
showStatus("complete");
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){
Object source = e.getSource();
if(source == pushButton){
++countAction;
con.setVisible(true); //used the Container object you created
// instead of "display()";

Problem with displaying chart data
Hello everybody,
I have problem with displaying chart data correctly. I'm using a cartesian chart with DateTimeAxis. The stockdata I'm using is for half a year and
with ticks for every day. The problem is, that Flex displays the data of february in march together with the data of march. I have added a picture
to show the result. The second column of the grid is for february and the third for march.
Could anybody help me with this problem. Thanks in advance.
ThomasHi Chris,
thanks for your reply. Here you get the source code:
The following method creates the LineChart:
public function init():void
model.upperChart = this;
model.upperChartStyle.setChartViewStyle(this);
this.hAxis = new MyDateTimeAxis();
model.upperChartData.configureHAxis(this.hAxis);
this.vAxis = new LinearAxis();
model.upperChartData.configureVAxis(this.vAxis);
this.vAxisTitle = new Label();
this.vAxisTitle.text = model.upperChartData.getVAxisTitle();
model.upperChartStyle.setVAxisTitleLabelStyle(this.vAxisTitle);
this.vAxisTitle.x = 10
this.vAxisTitle.y = 0;
this.addChild(this.vAxisTitle);
this.myChart = new CartesianChart();
//remove default datatip
this.myChart.showDataTips = false;
this.myChart.x = 10;
this.myChart.y = 0;
this.myChart.width = 768;
this.myChart.height = 196;
model.upperChartStyle.setChartStyle(this.myChart);
this.addChild(this.myChart);
//Remove line shadow
this.myChart.seriesFilters = null;
this.myChart.horizontalAxis = this.hAxis;
this.myChart.verticalAxis = this.vAxis;
this.hAxisRenderer = new AxisRenderer();
model.upperChartData.configureHAxisRenderer(this.hAxisRenderer);
this.hAxisRenderer.axis = this.hAxis;
model.upperChartStyle.setHAxisRendererStyle(this.hAxisRenderer);
this.myChart.horizontalAxisRenderers.push(this.hAxisRenderer);
this.vAxisRenderer = new AxisRenderer();
model.upperChartData.configureVAxisRenderer(this.vAxisRenderer);
this.vAxisRenderer.axis = this.vAxis;
model.upperChartStyle.setVAxisRendererStyle(this.vAxisRenderer);
this.myChart.verticalAxisRenderers.push(this.vAxisRenderer);
model.upperChartStyle.setVAxisDataLabelStyle(this.vAxisMinLabel);
this.addChild(this.vAxisMinLabel);
model.upperChartStyle.setSeriesStyle(model.upperChartData.series, model.upperChartData.shares);
this.myChart.dataProvider = model.upperChartData.dataProvider;
this.myChart.series = model.upperChartData.series;
The data for dataprovider and series you can see in attached file dataprovider.xml.
xfield is equivalent to timestamp
yfield is equivalent to absolute
I think the problem could be the configuration of the datetimeaxis. The following method shows the parameter for the datetimeaxis:
public function configureHAxis(axis:MyDateTimeAxis):void
axis.parseFunction = UtilityClass.parseYYYYMMDDHHNNSSString2Date;
axis.dataUnits = "days";
axis.dataInterval = 1;
axis.title = "";
axis.minimum = new Date(UtilityClass.parseYYYYMMDDHHNNSSString2Date("2009-01-07 00:00:00").time);
axis.maximum = new Date(UtilityClass.parseYYYYMMDDHHNNSSString2Date("2009-07-06 00:00:00").time);
And finally you get the function, that I'm using for string to date conversion:
public static function parseYYYYMMDDHHNNSSString2Date(input:String):Date
var result:Date = new Date();
var year:Number = Number(input.substring(0,4));
var month:Number = Number(input.substring(5,7));
var date:Number = Number(input.substring(8,10));
var hours:Number = Number(input.substring(11,13));
var minutes:Number = Number(input.substring(14,16));
var seconds:Number = Number(input.substring(17,19));
result.setUTCFullYear(year);
result.setUTCMonth(month-1);
result.setUTCDate(date);
result.setUTCHours(hours);
result.setUTCMinutes(minutes);
result.setUTCSeconds(seconds);
return result;
I hope that will help to locate the reason for the wrong chart visualization.
Thanks for any help. -
Serious problems with paint method, need major help
I've got a mjor problem with displaying a BufferedImage Object. My program takes in an image, i call a method on it which creates an ImageObject, imgObj, which contains the following values:
Image width, called width
Image height, called height,
array of 8 bit integers for the ARGB value of each pixel, called int [] imgCol
I've managed to create a Buffered Image of the form:
//make a buffered image ready to take the array of pixels
bufferedImage = new BufferedImage( imgObj.width, imgObj.height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB);
Then I set the ARGB values in the BufferedImage, by specifying the integer array of pixels, imgCol:
//set the values in the buffered image using buffered image method
bufferedImage.setRGB( 0, 0, imgObj.width, imgObj.height, imgObj.imgCol, 0, imgObj.width);
Then I try to paint it, callling repaint() in the same method as the code above.
Now when I try the following stuff I get a Null Pointer Exception:
public void paint(Graphics g){
paintImage(g);
public void paintImage(Graphics g){
Graphics2D ImageGraphic2 = (Graphics2D)g;
// Draws the buffered image to the screen.
ImageGraphic2.drawImage(bufferedImage, 0, 0, this);
Can anyone help me in fixing this problem?Here's the full stack trace, can't make heads or tails of what it's about though

Problem with displaying BLOB images on JSP page using a servlet
hi. I have a big problem with displaying BLOB images using JSP. I have a servlet that connects to the oracle database, gets a BLOB image , reads it, and then displays it using a BinaryStream. The problem is , this works only when i directly call that servlet, that is http://localhost:8080/ImageServlet. It doesn't work when i try to use that servlet to display my image on my JSP page (my JSP page displays only a broken-image icon ) I tried several coding approaches with my servlet (used both Blob and BLOB objects), and they work just fine as long as i display images explicitly using only the servlet.
Here's what i use : ORACLE 10g XE , Eclipse 3.1.2, Tomcat 5.5.16 , JDK 1.5
here is one of my image servlet's working versions (the essential part of it) :
BLOB blob=null;
rset=st.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM IMAGES WHERE ID=1");
while (rset.next())
blob=((OracleResultSet)rset).getBLOB(2);
response.reset();
response.setContentType("image/jpeg");
response.addHeader("Content-Disposition","filename=42.jpeg");
ServletOutputStream ostr=response.getOutputStream();
InputStream istr=blob.getBinaryStream(1L);
int size=blob.getBufferSize();
int len=-1;
byte[] buff = new byte[size];
while ((len=istr.read( buff ))!=-1 ) {
ostr.write(buff,0,len);
response.flushBuffer();
ostr.close(); and my JSP page code :
<img src="/ImageServlet" border="0" > If you could just tell me what i'm doing wrong here , or if you could show me your own solutions to that problem , i would be very greatful ,cos i'm realy stuck here , and i'm rather pressed for time too. Hope someone can help.I turns out that it wasn't that big of a problem after all. All i had to do was to take the above code and place it into another JSP page instead of into a servlet like i did before. Then i just used that page as a source for my IMG tag in my first JSP. It works perfectly well. Why this doesn't work for servlets i still don't know, but it's not a problem form me anymore . Ofcourse if someone knows the answer , go ahead and write. I would still appriceatte it.
here's the magic tag : <img src="ImageJSP.jsp" border="0" > enjoy : ) -

I have a early 2011 Macbook pro 13 inch, I'm running Lion 10.7.4, and i want to upgrade to 10.8 Mountain Lion. Is it safe for my computer or are people experiencing problems with displays and Battery life?
Do Not post stuff about how Airplay doesnt work, because i dont have Apple TV and dont need to hear about it.If you have an external drive equal to or larger than your internal HD, clone your internal to it with either Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. Test the clone to make sure it's bootable. Then upgrade either one. Try it out first.

Hi, I am having this problem:
I made a CustomItem, a TextField, now I overloaded the traverse method, so if the keycode is Canvas.UP or Canvas.DOWN then return false else return true.
The problem is that when I press the left or rigth button it also returns false and not true.
and there is another problem with traverse, before returning false or true I set a boolean and call to repaint to draw it on some way if its selected or not, the paint method is being called but it just dont draw as desired.
protected void paint(Graphics g, int ancho, int alto) {
System.out.println ("Dentro del paint, seleccionado="+seleccionado);
try {
g.drawString(label, 0, 0, Graphics.TOP|Graphics.LEFT);
if (!seleccionado) {
g.setColor(120, 120, 120);
g.drawRect(0, 4, tamaoTexto+8, 25);
if (seleccionado) {
g.setColor(255, 255, 255);
g.fillRect(1, 5, (tamaoTexto+8-1), 23);
g.setColor(0, 0, 0);
if (!seleccionado) {
g.setColor(80, 80, 80);
g.drawString(texto, 4, 7, Graphics.TOP|Graphics.LEFT);
if (seleccionado) {
int cursorX=Font.getDefaultFont().charsWidth((texto.substring(0, idLetraActual)).toCharArray(), 0, texto.substring(0, idLetraActual).length())+4;
g.drawChar('|', cursorX, 7, Graphics.TOP|Graphics.LEFT);
} catch (Exception E){
E.printStackTrace();
}the traverse method set the seleccionado variable and calls to repaint but instead of being false the paint method is drawing it as true (most of times).I have a problem with findByxxx() method.. in
Container managed bean.
i have
Collection collection =
home.findByOwnerName("fieldValue");
specified in my Client Program, where ownerName is the
cmp fieldname..
and
public Collection findByOwnerName(String ownerName)
throws RemoteException, FinderException
defined in my home interface.
i have not mentioned the findBy() method anywhere else
(Bean class). You have to describe the query in the deployment descriptor.
>
Even if i have a same "fieldValue" in the database
(Oracle), which i specified in findBy() method, iam a
result of owner Not found, which is not the case as i
have that owner name.
for the same application if i use findByPrimaryKey(),
it is working..
Can any one please post me the solution. -
Hi,
I have a problem with the method prerender. A month ago, I started to develop a web project using Sun Studio Creator and a few page beans that i used extended the Abstract Page Bean, so I overrided the prerender and customized it.
The problem is that, now i'm using eclipse and the configuration files of the project has changed and the prerender method never execute.
I want to know why it is happening. Maybe the project is "bad-configurated"?
ThanksThe code of java bean doesn't change, the only thing that has changed is the configuration files (faces-config.xml, web.xml, etc).
I put a breakpoint in the prerender method but the lifecycle doesnt execute this method.
After serveral changes, I wrote this code in the method prerender :
int i=0;
i = 1;
And the prerender method doesn't execute.
I'm a bit lost,
thanks -
Problem with affinetransformOp method...
I have a serious problem with filter method
I Want to make a image flipping or some other filtering by using
AffineTransformOp
but it printouts an erro like this
cannot resolve symbol
op.filter (img, flipped)
(the error pointer shows ".after the op")
a code from my one of the filters
BufferedImage flipped = new BufferedImage(img.getHeight(), img.getWidth(),BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
AffineTransform trans = new AffineTransform(0, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0);
AffineTransformOp op = new AffineTransformOp(trans, AffineTransformOp.TYPE_NEAREST_NEIGHBOR);
op.filter(img, flipped); //img is my buffered image source
I used some other ways like (img, null) but always give out error.
thanks..Did you declare "img" as BufferedImage or something else?
What is the full error message? -

Sql Devloper 4.0.0.13 - problems with displaying user data types
Hi,
I have installed new version of sqldeveloper and have discovered some problems with displaying user data types. The data that is described as VARCHAR2 are displayed with ‘???’.
The problem persist in table view, script output and exported files.
My type is described as follows:

OPCINA VARCHAR2(100),
MJESTO VARCHAR2(100),
ULICA VARCHAR2(200),
BROJ VARCHAR2(20),
SPRAT VARCHAR2(20),
OSTALO VARCHAR2(100),
CONSTRUCTOR FUNCTION dpty_adresa RETURN SELF AS RESULT
add MEMBER FUNCTION dajAdresu RETURN VARCHAR2 cascade;
when make select column from table that contains this type I get next results:
CASE 1:
SQLDeveloper Version 3.2.20.09; Build MAIN-09.87; JDK 1.6.0_43; Windows 7 64 bit
Select:
select id, adresalokacija

Hello! Welcome to the forum: please read the FAQ and forum sticky threads (if you haven't done so already), and update your forum profile with a real handle instead of "1009316".
When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
<li>Full APEX version
<li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
<li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
<li>Theme
<li>Template(s)
<li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.

Problem with displaying any picture at all.
Hi there, one of my iMacs has a problem with displaying video.
When I turn the computer on the screen shows a yellow-orange hue in the centre, and it's getting wider across the screen and bright, eventually it turns to a white screen. Now I know for a fact it's nothing to do with the logic board! I can control the computer with remote desktop and dim the screen or make it brighter. My question is, is it the cabling that is faulty or something else?
If it's the cabling, how can I open the chrome neck and change it?
Thanks youDid your testing include utilizing a second display and adapter to see
how a mirrored output of the video would appear; to be sure this item
is isolated to the wiring from the circuit boards to the attached LCD?
There are components within the border of the iMac G4's display which
may affect the image as they wear out and/or fail. The inverter, is one
item that is in the panel along with the backlight and liquid crystal layer.
Removing or replacing the wire harness between these components,
the computer base and LCD panel, is a bit of work. This topic has been
addressed in these forums at one time or another; and a few owners
who contribute here have experience taking these apart. In the past,
getting a known-good display with chrome arm and harness, from an-
other iMac (perhaps one with logic board failure) and combine two,
was an answer when the complete display & arm were known good;
as this saved a fair amount of work on the upper end. Still, taking the
lower orb shape apart is a significant task; to have it work right again.
The cabling could be faulty; the inverter could be. And there may be
yet another associated component failing which produces symptoms.
Taking apart the chrome arm may not be such a good idea; I've seen
the expanded view of one taken apart by a metal cutting saw, and it
has a big spring inside, and a bit of tension. There also are friction pad
parts inside that loose their ability to hold up the panel, so some owners
sought to replace those to varying degrees of trouble.
There should be a few step-by-step instructions. One of the contributors
to the iMac G4 forums here was Mr Totes; one of his web pages had a
few images of take-aparts he'd done. Other sites had basic stuff, such
as replacing optical drive and hard disk drives, thermal paste, RAM, etc.
If you were able to see the correct system images from a second display
via the VGA adapter cable, in mirror mode, the attached unit certainly is
suspect; and the computer is probably repairable. Otherwise, there is a
video component on the logic board not considered a separate part; and
if that fails, the usual fix is to get a reman logic board or another iMac.
Have fun, whichever way it goes.
Good luck & happy computing! -
Problem with displaying picture.
I use PS-CC and LR5.on a HP i7 computer and windows 7.Camera D-800, pictures in raw.
I usually import pictures in nef in LR5,. After some corrections, I export my pictures to DNG format. I sometimes do a little bit of work in camera raw then go into Photoshop.
My problem: When in photoshop, I get a grainy version of my photo which wasn't the situation in LR5 or Camera raw, Hard to work with. The grains will disappear when I enlarge the picture but then I have to enlarge it so much that I only see or can work with only part of my picture. The problem does not appear in CS6.
Hope somebody can help me.
Thanks
Jacques LegaultI should clarify this.. When I import photos into LR5, I always use copy as
DNG. I know that NEF and DNG are the same for photoshop and I always shoot
in raw.
One thing I do not know is how to do a screen shot. I will get back tro you
on that. When I say grain, or noise if you like, I mean that, if i relate
to films, my picture in LR5 would be at ISO 100 and my screen shot in
photoshop would look like it was boosted to 1200 or worse.
See you soon I hope with a screen shot.
