Problems with exporting .jpg file in Indesign CS3

Hello! I've used Indesign to create a memory book I would like to now place in another program to have printed (blurb is the company I'm using). Now that I have created the spreads I need to export each page individually as .jpg files, so that I can place them in to this other program to have them printed. (The program does not read .pdf files...they have to be .jpg). I exported each page and noticed that about 20 out of 90 have pages that have black bars over some of the pictures. I'm not sure how to remedy this problem and have tried changing some settings but unsuccessfully so. I've also had problems with Indesign crashing when I've tried to export the entire book as a .pdf. Thanks for the help!

I think I've seen that reported before, but don't remember if an answer was found.
HOWEVER, InDesign's jpeg export leave a lot to be desired under any circumstances, and the best method is to export a good PDF (Use one of the presets intended for printed output) then open that in Photoshop using appropriate settings (if you have body copy sized type, I'd recommend using 600 ppi to keep it realtively crisp, but the printer will probably complain about the size of the file) then save as a high quality jpeg in whichever color profile is recommended by the printer.
I know you said you had some trouble exporting the whole book as PDF, but maybe we can solve that if you give some more details.

  • How can I fix this problem with exporting Pages files?

    Hello,
I'm having problems with exporting Pages files to Word or PDF (I haven't tried the other formats). Whenever I try to export the Page file, I get one message like this: "The document "XXXXXXX" could not be exported as "YYYYYYY". This problem started after the last Pages update, before that it was working fine. I restarted the computer, updated the OS, but the problem hasn't been solved.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards,
    Filipe

Computers are made of parts made by humans and assembled by humans of materials that are not perfect.
For example, a display cable that was accidentally pinched during assembly would pass quality control testing with flying colors and would not fail until the lid had been opened and closed several times.
Likewise a display might not fail until powered on and off a few hundred times.

  • Exporting EPS files in InDesign CS3 takes FOREVER!!!

When exporting a file in InDesign it takes up to 10 minutes per page to export a file in EPS form. I am working on a server, but co-workers are doing the same thing and they do not have the same problem. I have noticed that it seems like the files with links in them take the longest. Meaning... if I have just a text file it will export very quickly like it should, but if it has a linked file it will take anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes to export. Does anyone know what's going on?

Can you make the problem go away by working off the network? Just because you're the only one having problems doesn't absolutely mean the network isn't the cause of the problems. And because these kinds of problems come up all the time with people who work from a server, the network is the obvious place to look first.

  • I have a problem with my JPG files...

Hi guys, I have a mac osx Lion installation with a Bootcamp partition. In windows, i can see all my photos perfectly, but when i log into lion...these files dissapears.
If i do a ls -l in terminal, the files appears whith a message: no such files or directory.
Whats happens? I've copied all files into a external HDD and there is no solution...

A JPG file is the same for both types of operating system. There is NO difference in the File.
For some reason you are not doing the right thing to view these files. It has nothing to do with the JPG file or the Operating system.
In Windows do a search for *.JPG. Once that finishes and lists all the Jpeg files select them all and press Control+c keys (that will copy them to the Clipboard). Create a New Folder somewhere on the Windows hard drive, it can even by on the desktop, and Paste, Control+v, those JPG file into that new folder. Open Windows Explorer and select the newly created folder with the JPG file in it and again press Control+C. Browse to the Mac hard drive, Macintosh HD, select it and once again press Contro+v to Paste that complete folder to the Mac HD.

  • Problem with linked illustrator file in InDesign Adobe CC 2014

At my job we link our illustrator files in the indesign files. We use arrow in illustrator to show the points between measurements. Once we view the file in indesign under the high quality print view option the page bugs out and the illustration covers the page with white and shows fragments of what is actually on the illustrator file.

Let me continue this thread – I have the same problem. Just cant get it to work....
Attached are the vp interface and how it looks in AE. I have back, left, rigth, ground and top walls, just like in every turorial I´ve watched, but for me it doesnt work.
    PLease advice! :-)

  • Printing problem with new Intel iMac and Indesign CS3

    Hi there,
this might not be the right place to ask for, but has anybody here experienced printing problems in Indesign CS3 with Tiger?
I just installed the software and tried to print out of Indesign, but nothing. I can see on the panel that data is beeing received but no printing action. And this is just out of the new Indesing CS3.
    Any suggestions?
    Best
    Rolf

Our office is printing fine from ID & PS CS3. This is from Intel & PPC Mac's running 10.4.9.
What is your printer and how is it configured for printing, ie USB or IP.
Also, have a look at the cups error log. You can find this via System Profiler > Software > Logs. This will show which process is failing for the spooled job. You can post it back here for more help.

  • Problem with exported JPGs from InDesign (CS6 and CC): double rows of pixels

We are using a javasscript  for exporting cropped pictures out of our InDesign Layouts. But there is a problem that comes witch each file. No matter what wie change in the export options, it always appears. It seems like there is one row of pixels two times in the jpgs. Can anyone explain - or even better - provide a solution for this?
Here is an example image. the two rows can be seen in the middle of the image:

Well if i do that, the video will raise up GBs larger (and that is really bad).
    Why is it really bad?
Its a fact of digital  life. High datarate = quality.
example ...even the Youtube preset is in the 8mpbs area.
...and you are exporting 1 hr 35mins of media.

  • Problem with placing Adobe files in InDesign

I'm working on a document in InDesign. I have CS3 Creative Suite. I have used this for a while now and not had this problem, but when I go to "place" and try to insert a "pdf" file, it will not allow me to do it any longer. The error says "Failed to open the pdf file".
Does anyone now what the fix is for this? I use pdf files all the time in InDesign, don't know what has happened.
Thanks in advance for any help that may be given.
    Diana

    Hi diana,
Is your pdf file get opened in Acrobat or Adobe Reader?? If yes means please check with document properties, is there any security provided to the document.

  • Problems with a style sheet in InDesign CS3

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone had any clue as to what the holy heck is happening to me.
I am attempting to standardize our documents and use style sheets--hey, what a concept, right? So I'm going through a recently completed document and grabbing text and using that to create paragraph style sheets and character based style sheets.
With one paragraph style sheet, the text is set to Janson Text Lt Stnd 55 Roman. However, when you apply the style sheet to a paragraph, the first word sets to a missing font. The rest of the paragraph is OK. It's only the first word. The paragraph style sheet does not have a "+" next to it. Highlighting the individual word and reapplying the paragraph style sheet does not change this.
I went to the character style palette, thinking that there was an override. Nope, the character style was set to "None." I clicked on "Override" to apply the paragraph style, and again, the first word is stubbornly refusing to change.
    What gives? I am stumped!
    Best,
    Chryss

Styles based on Basic paragraph are a nightmare because every document starts with a basic paragraph style, and there's no guarantee that it will be the same from document to document. When you import styles based on Basic Paragraph from some other document, different attributes will be overridden depending on what is the same, and what is different.
The best way to deal with this is to either import the basic paragraph stle along with everything else, or put all the docs in one book file and pick one to use as the master, then synchronize the styles.
It sounds like your first word problem could be an applied character style, though, or less likely, a nested style.

  • Problems with importing ill. files to indesign

I am trying to bring a type based logo from Illustrator to Indesign and keep running into some strange problems. The logo I am trying to bring over is a word converted into outlines and then filed with a subtle gradient. When I cut it from Illustrator and paste it into illustrator the image looks fine. That is until I try to resize the image. When I do I start getting issue with the fill color. All of a suddent there are portions of black that apper in the fill. The black changes size and shap depending on how much I scale the image up or down. Does any one know why this might be?

If the PDF is of 1.4 or above when saved out of AI, then it should have a transparent background. Here's a text I did in AI and placed into ID and scaled up
Is your problem that you aren't using View>Dispaly Performance>High Quality Display in ID?

When I tried to export the Project Management Sample Table, I noticed that the last five unchecked check boxes weren't part of the exported file. I should have seen the value False. Instead there was no value provided. This seems like a bug.

  • Problem with exporting Reference file to iDVD

When I export a 16:9 clip as a reference file (or self contained) using Quick Time Movie, it appears as 4:3. If I use QT conversion option, it exports OK as 16:9. As I need to use chapter markers I therefore wish to use the QTM option but require it as 16:9. Any clues as to what I am doing wrong? Thanks
