Problems with Flash output using Safari
Hi All,
does anyone know the solution to getting the flash output to work with safari? The project plays properly on Firefox and Chrome. On safari, my custom menus come up just the same as on the DVD version of the project, but the flash videos do not play - just a grey screen. Interestingly, the duration of the clips is set correctly in the player, it just doesn't start the video. The flash files play correctly when loaded directly into Adobe flash player, so I am assuming there is a compatibility issue with the generated XML files or index.html. The code inside the index.html seems very old and refereences macromedia.com and a windows .CAB file. I have shortened the file names and eliminated any offending characters (all are in the form "Chapter_1").
Anyway, this is stopping me delivering a project on USB stick for a client - seems to be a common issue when searching the web, but no solutions. Any assistance or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have the full CC (2014), but still have Encore CS6 installed for DVD production.
Regards,
Mark
I read the thread you mentioned and all others relating to this issue - seems to be a number of people having the same issue over the last 3 years, but none have posted a successful conclusion. I did see the post about strange characters in file names causing issues in the XML - I did also look at this and change all my content file names to innocuous "Chapter_X" & etc. The paths to the "Sources" directory are all relative and the project works correctly on Chrome and Firefox. Just safari is not working. Agree, it could be permissions, but I have checked all security settings and the Abobe Flash player (with is called up by the script to display the videos in the browser) is specifically permitted to "Allow Always" in the security settings. I can't help thinking there is a problem with the generated XML that safari is not behaving correctly - it wouldnt be the first time that Apple doest things using their interpretation of a standard.
However, after all that, the generated code from Encore doesn't result in a working local project that I can send to a client and expect to work.

So I'm having a problem with flash player, and was wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing, or might be able to help.
- Upgraded 2 computers to snow leopard, macbook pro laptop, and mac Pro tower (intel proc).
- Laptop has no problems, everything renders fine, and without any difficulty.
- Mac Pro doesn't display any dynamic data, text fields show up blank, some flash player controls don't work, brightcove player won't load completely... things are just not working right.
- Main browser is Safari, but same problem exists in Camino, Firefox, etc...
- I've had Safari Stand installed, but have since removed it.
- I've removed GROWL notifications completely
- I've got debug and developer menus turned on (but have that with the laptop also.)
Please see the screenshot attached. This graph should have text data on it showing the x/y axis, the key, as well as data when you mouse over each block, but doesn't show anything.
The second screen shot shows a brightcove player from our website... There should have full controls at the bottom, and nothing shows up. If I right-click, and go to 'view full screen', I can't then get out of full screen by clicking escape key on the keyboard, I have to use any player controls, or right-click again, and hit 'exit full screen'.
Anyone have any suggestions? It's something to do with my computer, rather than snow leopard, because flash works fine on my laptop, but not on the desktop. Any help is really appreciated !Hi!
I reached your post because I was having the exact same issues as you and I found a fix that worked for me! The problem is a font issue: I logged in with the guest account that had no users font installed and flash was working fine, so I logged back into my account and moved all the fonts in my 'User>Library>Fonts' folder in a folder in the desktop. Then I closed and reopened Safari and Flash was working!
In the end the problem was with a version of Arial that I had in my users' font folder: I deleted just that, put my users' font back in the folder and the problem disappeared.
I hope it hepls!

Problems with Flash video playback
I'm having a problem with Flash video playback, hoping
someone here can help.
I have several movies which I have converted to .flv using
the Flash authoring tool. I have then created an .swf for each
movie, embedding the .flv along with the playback component,
playback controls, etc.
I can open these .swfs using Flash Player and everything
displays and plays as expected. However, when I embed the .swf into
a web page and open it using a browser, the playback controls don't
show up, and the movie will only play if it has been encoded to
autoplay. I am on an Intel Mac, using the latest Flash Player
plug-in, and am having this problem in both Firefox 2.0.0.11 and in
Safari 2.0.4.
I'm guessing that the problem lies in how I have encoded the
.swfs into the web page? Hoping someone has a solution, or at least
a good suggestion!
thanks,
- sounddevisorYes, that is exactly what I needed. Thanks!
Just to clarify for anyone else who stumbles across this -
the extra .swf files (which contain the skin for the player) need
to be in the same directory as the .html doc which is displaying
the video .swf. Hope that helps someone else! -

==================
Boy, you are not kidding, I was running both the cloud and CS6, and I was ready to throw in the towel.
I have changed computer's twice now, have a solid state hd, (which I love) with 10 terabytes on externals, I run NOTHING except adobe's stuff on my HD now, and only one version of it, and it runs like a dream.
So, I updated the OS to win 8.1, updated my peripherals,
I dumped CS6 (hated to, but for some reason my 3D won't work on it, it works fine with the cloud) but in CS6 the software was turning it off after adobe's last update.
I've made a virtual machine for my development environments which do not play well with adobe's stuff.
My rule of thumb has always been double what the manufacturer states is required for RAM, but imho, with my current upgrades: upgraded to win8.1, and other peripherals, spent two weeks changing stuff over and it's about 100 times better than trying to run CC and CS6. - No kidding, the change is astronomical
But for anything PC I'm way over powered, and for Adobe, I'm still underpowered.
Next, I'll just get a mac for Adobe, and stick with my pc's for ms/CentOS. Too, it seems like since the cloud was initiated Adobe is rolling out the updates faster and changes without warning. The processor/3D issue, I had no warning on it, just woke up one day and "no more 3d" :S
But I do love the cloud, so, guess there's got to be some dark lining to it. <g> -
How to watch flash based videos without adobe flash installed using Safari
How do I watch flash based videos without adobe flash installed using Safari?
Once you have Chrome installed, activate the Develop menu in Safari (go to Safari Preferences > Advanced > Show Develop Menu). You then will see under the Develop menu the Open Page With option and Chrome will be listed there.
So each time you open a page with Safari requiring Flash, you use that menu option to open the same page in Chrome. -
OK - I have had intermittent problems with Flash video, basically it gets choppy, usually after about 20 minutes - half an hour of watching - recently this problem has gotten worse - coinciding with a recent system update perhaps? - it's more or less anytime I stream something, and it happens on all browsers, even when the movie has clearly downloaded and is buffered way in advance of the playhead.
On 2 occasions recently leaving the movie to play just to see what happens has led to a kernel panic.
I've heard alot about Flash video generally being a resource hog and not playing ball sometimes - is there a way to solve this issue? Things I have tried - reset sound to 16 bit 44.1 khz in audio/midi manager; fixed permissions; run Tech Tool - everything seems to be fine hardware wise - I think there are some incompatible driver issues that are meesing up RAM usage but have no idea what or how to solve this... Any ideas anybody?
Thanks. If, as you show, you are running 10.5.2, that is out of date. You need to install the 10.5.8 combo updater.
It is also possible that your FlashPlayer is out of date.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe. -
Good evening I would please help me, IGood evening I would please help me, I have problems with flash player when update on my computer Flash Player for windows 8, gives me error in the installation that is not apply on my computer. Please help. Thank You
First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative. -
I'm having problems with Flash Videos (Youtube and ESPN)
I have been having this problem for the last couple of days now and it is really annoying. Whenever I watch a flash video like on youtube or espn my computer freezes up and the audio will make a loud buzzing sound. I have attached a video with the post so you can see what happens. I don't have problems with anything else except this. I also get this error no matter what browser I use. I have system restored my PC as far as I can go, and I've ran a ton of scans and driver update checks and nothing seems to work.
merci a tous pour les nombreuses réponse. j'ai dû mal a les lire vue que je ne lit que le français. je vous remercié encore une fois amicalement. Blanchette 2.

In the dialog box for the Flash Button, in the link box, put
the full
absolute path if an external page. Including the
http:// part.
http://www.example.com/page.html
for pages inside your site- use the browse to file icon, and
use a relative

White/Black Screen Problems With Flash Player
I have had a problem with flash player since updating it in November. Certain websites such as YouTube and Worldstarhiphop work perfectly while other websites such as Facebook produce black or white screens when trying to play videos. If you attempt to play a video on a website in which you get the black or white screen, you can still hear the audio. While that is annoying it is only a minor inconvenience, the biggest problem is with other websites that require flash. I currently want to run an internet speed test on my computer but I can not find a website that my flash player will work with. The weird thing is that the animation at (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html) plays correctly.
To fix the problem, I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall flash player. I have also tried changing the settings, enabling/disabling hardware acceleration. I feel like I've tried just about everything and I'm running out of ideas. I currently am using flash version 12.0.0.44 through Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.16518. My computer is running on Windows 7. Does anyone have any idea's on how to fix this problem?I am having the same problems and have tried all the posted solutions with no positive result, so far.
Similar to above… on all of the web pages on which I am unable to see the flash videos, if I click in the flash window to start the video, all I get is audio playback with a black or white screen.
However… If I move the mouse around inside the flash window, I can see that the mouse pointer still reacts wherever the video control buttons are located at the bottom (although I can’t see the buttons, themselves). And if I click the “full screen” button …. usually in the lower right… my view goes to full screen and the video appears!
I don’t know about everyone else, but my problem appears to be limited to:
Specific websites (facebook, most news websites)… I have no problem with Youtube or the Adobe Test Page.
Viewing video in the embedded flash window on the web page... Opening the video to full screen allows me to see it.
I’ve tried this on several of my problem websites with consistent “success” at viewing videos. It's an annoying solution, but at least I can see the videos. -

Hello,
The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a leter version installed.

Flash player 11.1 hack on PowerPC - https://discussions.apple.com/message/16990862
Might be later ones around also... saw 11.3 I think.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.
You should also consider the Shockwave Player, which displays Web content that has been created by Adobe Director, much used for multimedia: For PPC Macs: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
See in each Browser which version of Flash it thinks it has...

Then Test Adobe Shockwave & Flash Players...
