Problems with getting signal to my Video Mixer with DVI to Comp adapter

hi, i have a MacBook Pro and a G5 Quadcore with an NVidia7800GT card. i am trying to get my G5 to detect my Edirol V4 video mixer. the MBP sees it immediately. the G5 cannot detect it!
what i have tried so far:
- swapped the DVI-Comp adapters i have on the MBP with the G5
- tried the DVI to VGA adapter - works fine on the G5
- swapped out cables (even though they are brand new)
i have a show on the weekend and need to solve this asap. can anyone help me figure out why the G5 won't detect the V4??
many thx in advance
fj

well normally i run using a dual output, where the external monitor is a VGA switcher or a video mixer. i run the video mixing software on my desktop monitor and the second monitor is the video mixed output.
up to now i have only used DVI to VGA and it always worked. but i just picked up a better mixer and its inputs are composite. so i bought the DVI to comp adapters. as stated the MBP sees the V4 immediately. the G5 screen flashes but there is no detection.

  • Problem with DVI native - cable?

I have a Intel Mini and am trying to get it to display on my Philips 20" HDTV. The TV has DVI native input (not HDMI). Here's the situation:
    - Output Mini to S-Video or Composite Video into the S-Video or Composite on the TV works as expected, but the image quality is pretty poor. I understand this is a known limitation - fuzzy text seems to be common.
    - the DVI input socket on the Philips serves double duty for either DVI or analog input. For analog, I can use a DVI-VGA adapter (either the Apple one or a Belkin I have), and hook it up to my IBM laptop via a std. VGA cable and it displays under the "PC" input channel on the TV as expected. If I try to use VGA output from the Mini (this means using the Apple DVI/VGA adapter supplied with the Mini, connected to a VGA cable, and then another VGA/DVI adapter to plug into the TV's DVI port) - I do not get an image. Keep in mind the TV doesn't have a separate VGA port - it specifically uses and accepts VGA/analog input via the DVI port.
    - When I try to use a DVI-D cable from the Mac to the TV, tuning the TV to the "DVI" channel, I get no image.
When I say I don't get an image, I'm not talking about a sync problem. I do not even get a flicker at startup before the video driver loads, and I cannot display anything when booting into single-user mode. This is true with either the VGA method from the Mac described above, or the DVI method.
The DVI cable I am using has 19 pins - 9 + 9 + flat blade. The Apple and Belkin DVI to VGA adapters have 23 pins - 9 + 9 + 4 around the flat blade, and the flat blade itself.
Am I not getting any signal because I do not have those 4 pins around the flat blade? The only other DVI cables I have seen have 25 pins - 24 small pins and the flat blade, but do not have the 4 around the flat blade.
Does anyone have a reference on the pinouts of DVI std? It seems strange to me that I don't even get a flicker at startup (and I've tried both "PC" and "DVI" channels on the TV). This behavior indicates to me that I do not have a problem with sync or timing specs (yet anyway) - as it appears the TV doesn't even receive any type of signal from the Mini.
Intel Mini Mac OS X (10.4.6)
Intel Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Technically speaking, a display should not have a DVI-I input. DVI-I was invisioned by its creators to be an output only, so it should only be on a host and not on a monitor or TV. That said, there are some manufacturers that couldn't resist using DVI-I on their displays.
Since both the MBP and the mini have DVI-I outputs, when you hook them to a display with a DVI-I input using a DVI-I cable, there is definitely the possibility for conflict. It looks as though your MBP gives priority to the analog connection and hence reports a VGA monitor whereas your mini appears to prioritize the digital output and is reading a seperate EDID table and reporting the display differently.
I recommend you either try using a DVI-A-to-DVI-A cable or a DVI-D-to-DVI-D cable. This will eliminate any possibility for contention. And based on the results you have had so far, you might want to start with the DVI-A-to-DVI-A cable.

    Hi,
i was also facing the same error few days back in a JDBC -RFC-JDBC Synchronous scenario. In that scenario, i was using 2 modules in JDBC sender module tab. It was working fine. later i change polling interval and then i started getting same error. it happened coz of sequence of Module got changed somehow.
So please check in Receiver JDBC adapter and SOAP sender adapter CC  if anything is changed. If this scenario is working in DEV as it is then it should work after transport.
    Else have a look here

  • Problems with Wireless Router and Adapter

I tried posting this in the wireless adapter forum but nobody responded :-(
    I'm using a WRT54G Router btw, and the firmware is v2.02.7, Feb. 27, 2004.
    Hi everyone,
I have a Linksys Wireless G Router and several computers that I try to connect with. One of them is a computer running Windows XP and using a Linksys Wireless USB B Adapter (WUSB11). Another is a laptop running Mandriva Linux using a Linksys Instant Wireless Network PC Card (WPC11). Another one is running Windows Vista and using a Linksys Wireless N card. I also have a laptop running Windows XP using a Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter (WPC54G).  I also have another PC running Windows XP and uses a Linksys Wireless USB Adapter WUSB54G. Finally, I have two macintosh laptops running OSX and with airport devices installed.
Anyway, I have problems with my internet connection frequently being interrupted and even sometimes I won't have a connection at all for hours. This occurs with my Linux laptop, the PC with the Wireless B Adapter, and the laptop using the Wireless G Notebook Adapter. In addition to this, the macintosh laptops have internet even more infrequently. However, I seem to never have a problem with the Windows Vista desktop or the Windows XP desktop that has the Wireless G adapter. I try repairing the connection and often it does not work. I have also tried resetting the router and the cable modem. I'm not sure what else I can do. I even bought a Wireless N router and had little success with that. We even went as far as moving the wireless router upstairs into our living room, thinking that the signal was somehow suffering from interference or that distance was a factor. Anyway, sorry for the long post but I could really use some help!
    Thanks.

Hi… logon to wireless N router’s setup page, open I.E. an in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 it would ask for username and password, put "admin" as a paassword (default password) without any username...linksys setup pops up, click on on wireless tab and and try changing radio band to wide 40MHz, wide channel to 9 and wireless standard channel to 1 or 11, go to advanced wireless settings reduce beacon interval to 50, fragmentation and RTS threshold to 2304, change N Transmission rate to 270 MBps…also try upgrading latest firmware on router, check whether it makes any difference or not and let me know.

    Hi Frank,
I am not sure about the issues with SP15, but Michal's Frequently Asked Questions blog talks about what to do if your adapters are not shown after an upgrade to some SP. Just check it out,

  • Problems with NI-488 cPCI adapter under QNX.

    Hi Michael,
The problems that I am having with the NI 488 cPCI adapter are random, so
    it is
very difficult to nail down where the problem lies. Sometimes the adapter
    fails
the initialization sequence in the nitn_presence_check routine at various
points in the 4 tests that the driver performs. Other times, if the adapter
initialization passes, the driver will loop in the nitn_wrtPIO with the
    message
"waiting, isr3=0x4c" or "waiting, isr3=0x00". I have added a loop count to
    the
routine so that it exits after 100 loops, but it still affects the driver
performance. I have had a similar problem with the nitn_wrt1byte routine.
I have been told that the driver works under Windows and Linux, but it
    doesn't
work under QNX, and I have no idea why not, as I don't have any chip-level
documentation on the adapter. I will appreciate any help that you can give.
    Thanks, Hugh.

    Hi bearhug,
This post was a little confusing. Was it started in another thread and moved over to a new one accidentally? Since it appears that you have had some previous correspondence, I looked into the type of issue you are experiencing and it looks like Michael, one of our Applications Engineers, has an in-work service request related to it. If that is your service request, I would encourage you to contact him directly by calling 1-866-275-6964 and entering the service request number there. Please let me know if there has been some miscommunication.

  • Cinema Display to be used with DVI to ADC Adapter

    Hello everyone,
I have a 22-inch Apple Cinema Display (clear enclosure) connected to my Mac mini (Mid 2011) through Apple DVI to ADC Adapter.
So far, this configuration has allowed me to get beautiful OS X desktop displayed on my old Cinema Display, though it wasn't perfect.
Pressing the display's power button does not turn off the display nor put my Mac to sleep. Instead, holding the button just makes the power LED brighter than usual.
Two USB ports on the back of the display doesn't seem to work. It does charge my iPod, but any device connected to those ports (including iPod) won't be recognized on my Mac.
Can anybody see what's going on here and help me troubleshoot the issue?
    Thanks.

Pressing the display's power button does not turn off the display nor put my Mac to sleep. Instead, holding the button just makes the power LED brighter than usual.
That's normal with the DVI to ADC adapter.  ADC (Apple Display Connector) has pins for power control but there are no such pins in DVI so the display's power button has no way to control the computer.  I don't know why the power light brightens when pushed, but mine does it too.
Two USB ports on the back of the display doesn't seem to work. It does charge my iPod, but any device connected to those ports (including iPod) won't be recognized on my Mac.
Is the adapter's USB cable plugged into the computer?  The displays ports are USB 1.1.  Some devices, such as iPhones, require USB 2.0.
Failure of the USB circuitry is common with those displays.  My 22" ADC display started having USB problems years ago.  It started with intermittent USB port problems, then it started interfering with computer sleep.  Since I now use the display with a DVI to ADC adapter I don't connect the adapter's USB cable (and don't use the display's USB ports), so don't have any computer sleep problems.

  • Past problem of getting signal fixed

How do I get Comcast to fix the signal to my home?  Again, I have signal problems TO THE HOUSE that result from time to time in poor phone service (lots of static) that comes and goes.  And my on demand box not recognizing my box ("Call comcast to sign up").  Last night, comcast didn't know my box, wanted me to "sign up".  This morning, I once again have access to my on demand channels.    This poor quality signal improved for a time when the ice storm hit, FORCING comcast to fix the outside cable.  Now the problem is back again, and I feel like if they send that four eyed, 20 something year old to "tighten the cable" and BS me for the 3rd time, I will probably lose my temper.  Same ******* who "installed" a nonworking internet (it worked long enough for him to RUN to my front door), and made me get a "repair" to fix his poor shoddy work.  Tightening and replugging in my box will "repair" it for maybe a day, or an hour... long enough to get billed 80 (or more by now) for a repair IMPROPERLY done.  How do I make comcast responsble in their repairs without wanting to do great bodily harm to the thin ******* sent here 3 out of 4 times?   I have to replace my DVR box every six months because apparently it burns out DVRs, erasing all recorded shows.  How do I do this without wanting to cancel my account?  I swear they send that ******* again, I will hurt him.  Pale, with brown curly hair, dark frame glasses... • Problem with DVI to video adapter on MBP 2.2 (using FInal Cut Pro)

When I plug an Apple  DVI to video (composite and S video) adapter into the DVI socket the screen reduces its resolution and the higher screen resolutions are no longer available from system preferences. This happens on both my MBPros so is this a fault with the adapter or what ...?   The reason I'm doing this is to have dual display for Final Cut Pro 7 although this behaviour happens withourt FCP running , which is why I ask in this section.

Setting it to FireWire Basic didn't work. It still only played thru the first few frames, then came back with the same message- that there were dropped frames detected (not bad sectors, as I reported earlier). One other thing I noticed: after the failed capture attempt, it resets the In point to the same time code as the Out point.
I'm going to try capturing by just clicking Play, then clicking the Capture Now button, and see if that works.

  • Problems with DVI display

Though I can use an old VGA CRT display using the adapter (though the display is permanently dark and mildly fuzzy), whenever I attempt to use my DVI LCD display with the mini I never get any video whatsoever.
I know the problem doesn't lie with the LCD monitor, as I use it regularly for my PC (and am using it right this very instant).
Any advice/tips/troubleshooting (other than the troubleshooting guide from apple, which I've already gone through), or should I be calling Apple for some servicing?

Actually, the problem likely is within the monitor. Apple graphics hardware is very reliant on handshaking via the DDC to understand the display device's supported resolutions. PCs rely more on the user installing display drivers. The result is many PC monitor makers get lazy about a proper implementation of the EDID block, which is the information communitcated to the host (Mac) via the DDC. I suspect you have such a monitor with a poor EDID implementation.
There is really no easy way to recover from this short of getting a different monitor. You can try third party software, like SwitchRes X, to overcome the monitor's limitation. But then you need information to build a custom timing, and that can be difficult to track down.

After a lot of trouble i was finally able to get the system running.  My friend been trying to work on it at his house and was unsucessful he dropped off all my parts at my house except for a stick of ram he had forgotten and my sound card.  He basically had given up, i had recieved my new video card in the mail today so i decided to give it a shot with the video card.   Everything worked perfectly i was able to get everything up and running very nicely and the system was perfectly stable as far as i could tell.  Today my friend dropped off the stick of ram he had forgotten and my sound card.  I proceeded to install the sound card, ram and my tv tuner all togeather since i assumed my system was working fine.  Upon powering up the system the computer made a very high pitch strange noise (not like a beep but a long scream that didnt stop till i shut it off promptly there after ) that seemed to be coming from around the PSU.  I took the tv tuner out first and tried again, this solved the problem.  The comp was no longer booting though.  I then took the sound card out and ram, comp was still not booting.  It would go on and then freeze or the monitor would just stay in standby.  At this point i proceeded to take out everything but my video, one stick of ram and hd.  I can now get the comp to boot pretty much whenever but itll freeze at random points and it cant go into windows (i got it to go in in safe mode but it froze a few mins later ).  Comp has also frozen in bios..  PLEASE HELP im desperate...

Don't be so sure . I have the same power supply and it is just barely adequate for my needs
the 12 volt rail is weak.
What Bios are you running ?
Do as Danny states and increase your memory voltage to 2.7 or 2.8 ( this was one of my biggest problems , once I changed it the stablity of this board increased by 200%)
As a last resort remove everything and start over . It would not be the first time that someone added a component and experenced trouble because of a loose connection

  • Problem with audio and vga adapter in presentations

this is an odd problem. I potted a presentation that contained a qt movie. The video plays with sound just fine via the vga adapter until you plug in an external speaker system or earphone. the sound stops.
if you play a video outside keynote or play the video with out the video vga adapter or just unplug from the audio jack it works fine. am I missing something or is this a bug. For the life of me I can not figure out what the VGA in keynote has to do with audio.
    John

Dr. John, this might be a little simple of an answer, but is the video jack pushed all the way in?
I had the same issue with my ipad playing a movie over a sound system and projecting it also, and discovered that the Apple issue iPad cover comes very close to interfering with the audio output jack, and that my plug into that jack wasn't all of the way in.
    After that it's worked fine.

  • Problem With Receiver Communication (File Adapter)

    Hi,
My SAP XI Version is 3.0 with Service Pack 7,I have a strange problem,
I have a flat file coming from Unix system,I need to convert this into  XML and put a copy in the Archive mode and send the XML file, getting it converted into flat file format send it to the receiver. Here I have to do the content Conversion,So,I have done content conversion while configuring Sender and Receiver Communication Channel.
I am using NFS as Transport Proctocol. So, everthing was fine when i run the scenario, after activating. The Sender communication Channel is Archiving the files. But I am unable to see any file with receiver communication channel.
So,for this I have checked up with Adapter monitoring in Runtime Workbench. In my File Adapter My Sender as well as Receiver Communication Channels are in Green. They are mentioning that Sender Communction is sucessful and
RECEIVER COMMUNICATION IS Sucessful but no messages processed.
Can any one suggest what to do now.Everything is fine with Content conversion and Unix System. But my receiver is not receiving any messages.
Should any OSS notice or patch work needs to be applied.
    Thank You,
    KishoreJ.

    Hi Kishore,
I Guess you should first see if the file is being picked......for that do the following.
While configuring your Sender File Adapter, let the mode be DELETE. This way, we will know if the file is being picked by the File adapter. The file will be deleted and you can be sure that it has been picked up.
Next, look into the RWB--> FILE ADAPTER and see the log of the file adapter
and also, you can see the flow of your message in the integration engine in SXMB_MONI.
Ans still if your message is not showing up in SXMB_MONI, please do as explained below.
Increase logging and trace level in:
SXMB_ADM -> Integration Engine Configuration -> Specific Configuration
Also create entries as follows in it:
    LOGGING = 1
    LOGGING_SYNC = 1
    TRACE_LEVEL = 3
    TRACE_LEVEL_PROPAGATION = 1
Also refer XI: I cannot see some of my messages in the SXMB_MONI
