Problems with HP Recovery Manager

I have a new Envy TS 15 Notebook PC, and it recommends creating a recovery media. This PC does not have and opticial drive so when I started the Recovery Manager and selected the "Recovery Media Creation" option, it asked me to agree to the statement that I could creat only one recovery media. I checked the box and clicked "continue". It goes to a screen that has two options: USB Flash Drive with a minimum of 23 GB or an Optical Drive that it does not detect and you can connect one now. I has the little circling // at the bottom as if it is trying to process something, but it never goes any farther. I can't select my media or anything else. I have left it running like this overnight thinking it need time to do whatever processes it was doing. But nothing! I have a 32GB flash drive connected. I have called tech support and nobody can help me. I hope someone here can help or refer this to an "Expert" who can. Jim

Problem with HP Recovery Manager

I have a new Windows 8 HP laptop and I am trying to create the recovery disks. After being frustrated to find out that the USB drive that I have won't work (it is Windows 8 compatible), I went with optical drive. The program recognizes the drive and says that I need 6 disks, but it stalls when I put the disk in. I get a message saying, "The insterted media is not supported!!" I am using the recommended DVD+R, which my drive can read, and this is the same media that I used to create recovery disks for my old Windows 7 machine. I just want the recovery disks, why is this so difficult?

Not much help, as we are in the same boat.
I backed up all our files to DVDs, and trying to get them off now is a real headache.
I have spoken to customer support - on the phone and online - and they both tell me I need to take it to a local back up business and get them to recover them as "we do not support on how to recover files from the backup. You need to contact any local backup centre for the same."
I was then told "Once the files are backed up, you could copy back the files from the destination to the required location." - but since they are formatted by using the recovery manager - this also doesn't work.
Just now 'However, there is no option on how to recover the backup files in Windows 7.'
So basically... Im/we're screwed!

Problematic system: HP Recovery Manager (triggered by hitting F11), made by "Cyberlink"?
Error message:
The notebook crashed a few times before but I was able to restart it. Then it completely failed and simply displayed a blue-screen with blinking cursor (no error message). Hitting F8 failed to trigger the safe-mode. So I was forced to get into HP Recovery manager by F11. Before the system restore, I had to backup my personal files through the File backup option.
After scanning the computer for my slected file-types and finalizing the list of files to be backed up, it showed an error "No device is available for file backup. Make sure your removable disk is connected" while entering the third step ("Where do you want to save the backup"). This happened even though I have both blank DVD in the DVD drive and USB stick in the USB drive. And the size of the file I was trying to back up is way below 1Gb, a fraction of the storage capacity of the DVD.
I ran the Diagnostic test in BIOS and passed both the "Primary Hard Disk self test" and the Memory test.
Brief description of the issue:
I have a Pavilion g7-1070us laptop that failed to start and simply displays a blue-screen with a blinking cursor (no error message). I could NOT get into safe-mode by hitting F8, but was able to activate the “HP recovery manager” by hitting F11.
I was trying to back-up my files before triggering the system restore/Factory reset. It asked me what types of files to back-up, then scanned the computer for these files and was finalizing the files for back-up.
These first two steps went smoothly, but at the thrid step whne it asked me "Where do you want to save the backup?",
suddenly an error message showed up saying e "No device is available for file backup. Make sure your removable disckdrive is connected". But I have both a DVD sitting in the optical drive and a USB drive attached!
Can someone throw me a life-line here? If I cannot recover my files, I cannot proceed with the system restore and I am forever stuck here!! Thanks a lot!

You're very welcome.
If the hard drive and memory passed tests, then it is probably something else, but I can't say for sure.
If you can read the files using the kaspersky rescue disk then the disk is definitely fine and the recovery program is probably corrupt. If you cannot, then the disk may be wrecked.
I do not believe the recovery disks provide any opportunity for you to back up files.
Once you run the recovery disks, they wipe everything out, and rebuild the software image that came on your PC.

Running Windows 7 64-bit on 650gb drive.
Error: "The system media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system with the media."
I'm about to order the recovery discs from HP and with any luck be able to bring this laptop back to factory conditionn with all the correct partitions and sizes after I format the hard drive.

Yes our recovery disks will return your unit to the factory state. All the software that came with the unit will be reinstalled. Whatever you added you will have to reinstall.

Restoring a Data Backup Made With HP Recovery Manager - Recovery Manager has Since Been Removed

My system (Pavilion dm4 notebook, Win 7 Home Premium x64)) is working fine but I would like to restore a data backup made with HP Recovery Manager. HP Recovery Manager has since been removed from the system and I do not have a recovery disk. I tried installing sp45415 which supposedly runs a silent installer for Recovery Manager, but it silently fails on my system. The accompanying notes say it is applicable to Windows 7 computers and to Pavilion dm1 and dm3. There is no mention of the dm4. Is there some trick to getting sp45415 to run correctly? Is there somewhere I can download an installation package for HP Recovery Manager that works on the Pavilion dm4? Is there any other tool that can restore the backup made by HP Recovery Manager? If you uninstalled Recovery Manager it likely removed the recovery files in the recovery partition.When those files are removed-no download of Recovery Manager is going to install. You will need Recovery Media to boot from to restore the recovery partition and files. If you did not make Recovery Media you will have to order from HP. As for the files you are trying to restore- If this was a backup of personal files,photos,etc to external hard drive or dvds there should be one .exe file inside those files-probably Restore.exe or Recover.exe. Double clicking the .exe will extract the files to a folder on the hard drive of your laptop.

After the backup was finished successfully, I did the factory restore. And when I would like to restore my files, (I clicked to restore file in the backup, and the restore was finished successfully) I see just the folders, the files I cannot see but they are there. If I go to properties I see the files are there. Also I can see them if I extract with the 7Zip program. But extracting with 7Zip program I can see the files with no folders structure and I cannot see the files names, just numbers. If somebody can help me, I would highly appreciate.

Inside the dated backup folder should be a a file called restore.exe or
RecoveryMgr.exe, execute it, it should extract your files and create a "system Recovery" folder on the C drive with your files and folders inside.

Problem with Nokia Video Manager - No video, only ...

Hi all,
I have a problem with nokia video manager. I have been converting movies to mp4 and watching with my cell phone for a while now. But all the videos I have converted were less than 30 min. long.
When I tried to watch a video longer than 36 minutes, the picture froze some time around 36th minute and only the sound continued to play. I have tried several other videos with similar lenghts and all seem to freeze at the same exact point. The player continues to play the sound after picture freezes.
Could someone please help ???

Problem with Rescue & Recovery

I have a X61 running on Vista Business. I am facing 2 problems with Rescue & Recovery:
1. RR tries to run a backup on every bootup even when I schedule it to run Monthly or Never. The program appears not to register the changes to the backup schedule. I upgraded to the latest version of RR, but it didn't help. (Note: Another user posted about the same problem (http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=Special_Interest_Utilities&thread.id=604) some months back, but his problem hasn't been solved.)
2. Whenever RR tries to perform a backup, I get this error message: "R2R.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." I downloaded the patch KB917422 but got the following message when I ran the installation pgm: "Could not find any previously installed compliant products on the machine for installing the product."
Will greatly appreciate any advice!

Hello, I have a big problem with Firefox: Session Manager & Undo Closed Tab addons are not working, Sync Is not working. History is working. How to fix this?

Firefox remembers history but doesn't remember closed tabs, sessions.
It happened after updating Fox to v. 19.0.2 on one computer.
In Firefox Options is set Use Custom Settings For History, everything is checked except Always Use Private Browsing Mode. So I am not in private browsing.
When I press on Undo Closed Button nothing happens & in session manager Save Session Button is greyed out. I've tried installing other add-ons that can remember tabs. tried to disable/reinstall these 2 add-ons. Did't help. On my 2nd computer I have same add-ons, same settings and they are working normally. on 3rd computer undo closed tabs works also. How to fix this? I decided to ask before doing Firefox Reset...
Sync is a separate problem. It works, but quite often it logs me out of Sync account. Then I can log in only using long recovery key and password (choosing option I don't have device with me because it does not accept keys for pairing device.)

I have exactly the same settings in Options (in both computers)
for history, these 2 add-ons and all other stuff in Options. The only difference is that on 1 pc sessions can be saved and closed tabs can be reopened, on other main pc they stopped to work. + no any other add-on that does similar things works on this pc.
It is also interesting that I can reopen closed visited sites from History Panel, but not by pressing the Button. For now I only manually bookmark links to a temporary folder.
Recently (some 2 month ago) I pressed x and Firefox closed all tabs without saving them without displaying save & quit pop up.
so I changed 4 settings in about.config
browser.tabs.warn on close true
browser.warn on quit true
browser.warn on restart true
browser.show.quit warning true
but the problem with sessions appeared only 1 week ago.
So I guess the problem is not with the History settings or other settings. Seems that something responsible for button or for storing info about tabs/sessions got corrupted. :(

hi. i got a hp g42-200 notebook pc. i have cyberlink recovery disk. after creating disk i deleted recovery partition and make 4 extra partition. but when my notebook got virus and freezing i try to recover with recovery disk. my problem solved but my whole hard disk reformated. i try all 3 opption. system restore, factory reset and minimized install. how can system restore without deleting user created partition?

HP TouchSmart IQ504 trys to access but ends with the Recovery Manager Screen and freezes or locks.

When turning on the HP TouchSmart IQ504, it freezes or locks at the Recovery Manager Screen. There have been some good suggestions to help with this issue, but so far, none have solved the problem. Control + Alt + Deleter has been tried several times. I did install some anti-virus programs before the computer failed to respond. Have tapped the F8 key and have tried every solution it offers...nothing happens to get the TouchSmart IQ504 going again.. Have also used the esc key, F9, F10 & F11. Nothing with any of those solves the issue. Don't know for certain the operating system, but think it is Windows Vista. And I can't check it now to know what operating system is installed. Can anyone out there help. Would appreciate that very much.

I understand that you are not able to boot into windows.
Turn off the computer.
As you power it back on tap the F2 key. This will load hardware diagnostics.
Run the startup test.
This will test all the hardware in the system and detect any problems.
Let me know how everything goes.

Is it always the same entity that is reported as 'unknown' ? You mention that it works sometimes but is it the same deployment and the same code that works? The first thing I would verify is that the ear is being created as expected by netbeans. Check the persistence.xml file and verify that all of the classes are listed that will be used as entities.

Problem with EM (Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database)

I've Oracle DB 11g Rel.1 installed on Windows XP SP3. The database is up and running i.e. everyone can connect to the DB by using any App tool e.g. SQL*Plus, Forms, or Reports. It means that the listener and the service is running. But the problem is that when I try to start the EM I see some error messages on the webpage.
