Problems with Huawei E169 3G modem

Does anyone have any lead how to get this thing working.
I followed the wikis E220 page, and i can connect with wvdial but can't access internet after it.
I've bee trying to get this thing working with Arch almost a day and have tried pretty much everything but still it won't let me surf / ping anything when i connect with wvdial.

I have no luck unfortunately..
I didn't get any ip from the log and the /etc/ppp/resolv.conf didn't exist. I tried with gnome-ppp and it gave me an ip for 2 seconds then it died. But I copied it to /etc/resolv.conf but it doesn't help. Perhaps there's something I don't understand..
The ppp log outputs this:
Mar 16 22:28:02 xmng pppd[25230]: pppd 2.4.4 started by root, uid 0

    I've read that article and i've used mkwvconf to configure my ISP before postting here, but i thought that user and pasword were not necessaries and i was wrong. I've need set Username and Password to empty string.
    My configuration is:
    [Dialer Jazztel]
    Modem Type = Analog Modem
    Phone = *99***1#
    ISDN = 0
    Baud = 460800
    Username = ''

    Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
    Init1 = AT+CPIN=MyPIN
    Init2 = ATZ

    Init4 = at+cgdcont=1,"ip","jazzinternet"
    Stupid Mode = 1
    Now works.

  • Problem with Huawei E180 USB Mobile Modem

    I have a little problem with my Huawei E180, that is causing only some inconvenience. If the modem is plugged in before turning on the power to the iMac, the Leopard doesn't boot up at all, just a blank white screen appears. After unplugging the modem and rebooting, there is no problems. There are no other problems with connections or anything, just this.
    This is only annoying, but I would like to know if there is some way to solve this problem. Or is this just a thing to live with? I couldn't find anything about this kind of problems with Google, or from Huawei's support forum or anywhere else.
    EDIT: I've been using Mac only for a month or so, so please be specific with answers.
    Message was edited by: RedKroovy

    Originally the Huawei is a Windows 2000 and Windows XP ONLY device, if you use Vodafone or Nova Media, they have their own custom made software which makes it mac compatible...
    The Huawei E180 does not use OEM drivers, at least ones that would be included with Leopard hence it does not recognize the USB dongle at boot up. Plus remember that when Leopard finds a network it will want to connect and configure everything out first before booting. In the case of GSM / 3G modem you may have to enter your username & password and save it in the "keychain", etc...
    The modems natively supported by Leopard are found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1122
    You will have to leave the Huawei E180 unplugged until you boot up into Leopard and then plug it in. Then Leopard will recognize and find the correct driver for it.

  • Problems with new Motorola SB6120 modem and BEFW11S4

    I upgraded to Charter Communication's high-speed Internet and after a couple of weeks purchased the SB6120 modem to replace my old SB4100 as the speed was progressively dwindling.  I cannot get my BEFW11S4 v2.0 router to work with the new modem.  I have spent hours myself, with Charter and with the IT people through my work trying to get it to work (I am a remote office employee).  The modem only works direct to my laptop.  The second PC in the house uses the wireless service from the router so it's offline. I have reset the router to factory defaults.  It looks like the router just does not see anything from the modem.  The modem is a DOCSIS 3.0 unit.  Is this just too much for my old router?
    Thx.

    The MAC address field was already filled, but i cloned it again following your linked instructions. I used the Phys Addr associated with my "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection #" ("3", in my case).   This did not solve the problem.
    I also noticed an "Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter" listing with a different Phys Addr and with a description of "Juniper Network Connect Virtual Adapter".  I think this is used for logging into my employer's VPN network, so I ignored it for the MAC cloning exercise.
    So, problem still remains:
    - Modem direct to PC works fine
    - Modem to router & router to PC, does not --- but all the lights on the front of the router look normal.
    I looked more into MAC addresses and in the Linksys Setup page there are TWO places showing this:
    - Next to "WAN IP" --- this is where I entered the MAC address from the first paragraph above.
    - Next to "LAN IP" --- this shows the MAC address of the router.
    Do these appear to be the correct MAC addresses for each "location"?
    Any other assistance is appreciated!
    Thanks.

  • Problem with old VoIP between modem and Time Capsule

    Hi, I hope someone can help me with this..
    For a job I used to have, I had a D-Link DVG-5102S VoIP adapter/router that I had to have between my Motorola DSL modem and my Time Capsule WiFi.
    The service that the D-Link was used for has been shut off for a long time, but I don't seem to be able to get rid of it.  When I remove it, and try to re-configure things on the Time Capsule so that it has the DSL login info, my internet access stops working.
    Currently, the D-Link has the DSL login info, and distributes 192.168.15.x addresses to the Time Capsule.
    The Time Capsule has the following info:
    Base Station tab:
    Base station name, password, Back to my Mac account/password
    Internet tab:
    Connect using: DHCP, IP Address 192.168.15.160, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, Router address 192.168.15.1, Primary DNS Server 192.168.15.1
    Wireless tab:
    Create a Wireless network, Wireless network name <my WiFi network>, Wireless SEcurity WPA2 Personal, Wireless Password/Verify Password
    Network tab:
    Router Mode: Off (Bridge Mode)
    Everything else is greyed out
    Disks:
    My time capsule backup disk.
    Does anyone have any ideas for how I should go about getting rid of that stupid VOIP thing?
    Thanks!

    Your DSL modem has probably locked on to the D-Link box's MAC address.  Since the TIme Capsule has a different MAC address than the D-link, the DSL modem doesn't know what to do with it.
    (MAC address btw has nothing to do with Mac computers - it is an alphanumeric address that is assigned to each and every networking device that's made - yes, including Mac computers.)
    Usually turning the DSL modem off and back on should reset it, and the next device that it talks to (hopefully the Time Capsule) will become its new best friend (i.e. it will "remember" the Time Capsule's MAC address). Some DSL modems have a setup page (or setup software) that you must run, to give it a new MAC address. And sometimes only your DSL provider can do this for you (they reset something on their end or something like that).  If turning the DSL modem off then on again doesn't do the trick, and your modem either doesn't have a setup application (or you don't see a setting for MAC address), then you'll have to call your provider. Tell them that you switched the device that the modem is plugged into, and they should be able to help you out (theoretically anyway, your actual customer service drone experience may vary).

  • Fios modem,Problem with wire running to modem from bedroom

    I have and I run a internet wire to my other room its about 10 to 15 feet ,going through the wall,and the PC is new and a very good one,at first it didn't work So we got another internet wire only work when it wanted to So we were told to get a new internet card (wrong). So I brought it in here and hook it up it works great NO Problems felt So sorry for my Dauther its most likely we got the wrong wire its black and the one the version uses is yellow.
    My question is there different kinds of internet wires ,So I can get my dauther the right one.
    Thank you so much

    The color really has little to do with it. Any Cat5 or Cat6 ethernet cable should work. The router has auto crossover so it should connect regardless. Be sure you are plugging the cable into one of the LAN ports and not the WAN port on the router.
    1. What operating system are you using?
    2. What is the model of the router you are connecting to?
    3. When you plug into the router, does the light for the port you plug into turn green? It should be the LAN # that corresponds to the connection you plugged into. No green light indicates a connection issue with the cable or Ethernet port on the router or PC.
    4. Check the network connection on the system tray next to the clock. Does it have an red X on it? Icon with two montiors and a globe.
    5. If you are running windows Vista or Windows 7, you can try the connection wizzard by right clicking on that icon and selecting connect to a network.
    I hope this information gives you a starting point for troubleshooting. Also there is a tool you can download and possibly install on the computer to assist you in troubleshooting.

  • SIP problem with Huawei b593....router or EE4G PAYG?

    I'm struggling to get any SIP service to work on my Huawei b593s-22 / EE4G Data PAYG sim.  The SIP/VOIP service hangs on 'registering' and I can't make outgoing calls.  If I put in my old Three data sim, the SIP/VOIP go to UP status immediately, so it must be EE - right?  A quick search tells me VOIP isn't blocked on EE PAYG?? Freespeech support told me "This is the source of your problem, the IP address 100.108.207.89 is not a public IP. This means your provider EE 4G is placing a NAT (to translate the private IP 100.108.207.89 to a shared public one) between you and the public internet. This is OK for web surfing but will not work for VoIP. You need to have a public IP address assigned. Talk to EE 4G and see if they have a solution for you." Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    I'm also having difficulties. I have enabled the UPnp, but the Back to My Mac details box is still stating that on my Huawei LTE CPE B593, NAT-PMP is turned off.
    Any ideas?

  • Problem with Huawei Webstick and lion, Problem with Huawei Webstick and lion

    My webstick Huawei has stopped functioning ever since I have uploaded Mountain Lion. Any suggestions

    Upload means putting software from your computer back up to the server.
    Download means getting software off a server and putting it on your computer.
    As for Huawei, it appears the last software they wrote was for 10.6 that I can find.  I would contact them and ask if they have made any updates for 10.7 or later.  Software written for 10.6 frequently may address Rosetta which is no longer available in 10.7 or later.
    I would also ask them how to remove any of their software, as many such devices are capable of being read by the built-in USB drivers of the Mac, if they are connected via USB.
    If you can find the model#, check the support for the specific model # on their website.

  • Problem with USB stick mobile modem/Mac interface

    I have a mobile phone stick that has been providing me with internet access. It suddenly stopped bringing up the interface. The port is fine and the stick works ok in a pc. I deleted the stick's software and rebooted, but the install wizard on the stick is either not working or is doing its thing somewhere other than the interface (ie Desktop). Any ideas? Possibly its my **** up for deleting rather than un-installing the software. I have deleted all I can find from system preferences, library etc. I should add that the stick, when inserted into the port, shows the "on" light, indicating that it is comnmunicating with the Mac.
    I have a 4.1 Macbook running OS X 6.8.7
    Any suggestions?

    You will probably want to contact the maker of this device for help. It is unlikely that anyone here would know how to use it and be able to provide assistance.
    Best of luck.

  • Upload data problem with HUAWEI E173 t mobile broadband and Mountain Lion

    I upgraded to Mountain Lion and updated my T Mobile Broadband software. It successfully connects to the internet.
    But within minutes I had exceeded my fair usage policy having browsed five websites!
    In T-mobile Internet Manager the Statistics shows huge amounts of data being uploaded ?in the background by OS X.
    It is not syncing devices in iCloud. I have no other programs open.
    It's uploaded 188MB in 30 mins. I have no idea what this data is or how to rectify this. Help, please?!

    Until you can install updated 64 bit software or get hold of a 64 bit T Stick..
    Boot your mac into 32 bit mode by holding down the 3 and 2 keys which should work OK.
    Lion is 64 bit..

    Which network software are you using? Most 3G USB sticks ship with software on the stick itself (available on the USB thumb drive section built into most such drives) which will allow you to use the stick. Failing that, your service provider should have downloadable software on their site. I have a HUAWEI UMG1691 USB 3G stick, from T-Mobile USA. My firmware version is 11.126.08.16.420. I did have to download updates for the network software and the firmware before I got it to work reliably, but it does now. Similar HUAWEI sticks available locally from Verizon and Sprint also seem to work reliably, don't know anyone who has an AT&T stick. Verify that your system is properly set up.

  • Possible internal modem problem with older iBook (Mac OS X 10.3.8)

    I have an older iBook - from year 2000 or 2001. So its airport card is so old it's stopped reliably working & I don't know where I could find a replacement. In the meantime I want to get internet connection on it so I've tried plugging a phone cord from the wall outlet (that I always use succesfully for my desktop PC) into the laptop and typing in the phone #, account name and password of my desktop's internet account under "internal modem." BUT I keep getting a busy signal over & over when I dial up. I called my ISP & they thought it's a problem with my laptop's modem. I called Apple & they thought it's an issue with the ISP. Help?

    Hi,
    So its airport card is so old it's stopped reliably working & I don't know where I could find a replacement.
    If you have been using an internal wireless network, the router (base station) should (normally) allow you to connect via an Ethernet cable from the corresponding port in the iBook as well.
    BUT I keep getting a busy signal over & over when I dial up
    Without knowing any details, this seems to indicate that the modem does work. Wrong number/own number? Have you checked that everything has been entered correctly according to the instructions from the ISP?
    Could KB article # 106748 possibly be of any help here?

  • Problem with 6120c Nokia Modem detection via Bluet...

    Hi!
    There is a problem with Nokia 6120c bluetooth modem detection under Windows XP PS3. I used this phone as bluetooth modem for about a month without any problems (under Windows XP SP2). Than I’ve installed Service Pack 3 for my Win XP. About a week everything works great. A few days ago I’ve unplugged my USB Bluetooth 2.0 adapter and placed it to other USB port (on the same computer). After this operation my computer doesn’t find 6120c as a modem via bluetooth IN ANY USB PORT (Nokia Modem via Bluetooth shows as disconnected in the control panel). In the same time, Nokia file manager works normal through bluetooth connection. 6120c modem now works only via USB connection. I wonder, is this problem connected with SP3 or it is a Nokia 6120c firmware problem? I will be very grateful for your ideas concerning this problem.
    Sincerely, Andrey
