Problems with ilife'11

Hi,
I have a macbook air and ilife was preinstall in it.
But, when appear new sotfware, I can't download it because my ID hasn't a relation with my the ilife.
What can I do?

Ignore the info about Software Update, that is out-of-date information.
Unfortunately you were supposed to Accept your preinstalled iLife apps into your iTunes.Mac App Store account when you first setup your new Mac, but no one told you about it. Try these steps and see if it lets you accept the apps, which should then allow you to update;
1 - Exit iTunes and the Mac App Store (MAS)
2 - Delete /Macintosh HD/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
3 - Reboot your Mac
4 - Go to System Prefs/Users & Groups/~user/Password and enter the Apple ID connected to your iTunes.Mac App Store account. Close Sys Prefs
5 - Open Mac App Store and sign into your account from the Store menu
6 - Go to the Purchased pane and Accept the three iLife apps
7 - Select Updates.  Enter iTunes/MAS username/password if prompted.
If this does or does not work could you return and tell us what happened?

  • Problems with iLife on Macbook Pro.

I just bought a Macbook Pro which I setup, it told me that I had iLife to download from the App Store free as it was part of the package. However I had to reinstall Lion and now it says that I have to pay for iLife, anyone know how I can resolve it?

That's more a problem with the App Store than iLife so post in the App Store forum:

  • Problem with iLife, after re-installing OS X

I bought a Black MacBook back in March, right out of the box it came with all of the iLife software pre-loaded on it. When the new MacBooks came out, I decided that I wanted to get one of them, so I had intended to sell my BlackBook to a friend. Because I wanted it to seem as if it were brand new to him, I wiped the hard drive of all my stuff, and than attempted to re-install the operating system disks that came with it. All went smoothly with the install, except iLife. It is as if none of the applications were loaded on the computer. My friend is very interested in using garage band, and iMovie, so this is somewhat of a problem. Any help or advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

I was afraid of that... When I was gathering up all the box and cables and stuff, I found an empty disk sleeve, and I was afraid that might have been what it was. Do you have any idea if apple would send another one?
I'm practically kicking myself right now. I NEVER lose software/paperwork for my electronics... untill now that is.

  • Why doesn't Apple put the problems with ILife 2006 in their promos

Why did I spend 80 bucks upgrading to 2006.
Now I read here that people who do it are having the same problem I am that I cannot access my photos at all now.
I get a message that my files have to be updated and when I do that an error says to go to all related files and make sure the permissions are for read and write. I have gone not only to the Iphoto Library folder which the instructions tell you to correct, but to every folder I can imagine any of my images are in and changed to read and write permissions.
Still I have the same problem. Perhaps if you only have 53 photos in your database ILife 2006 will work, but apparently with two or three thousand it won't work.
And the Apple ads scream that you can now have a quarter million photos in the data base.
For heavens sake don't believe it and don't buy until they can fix it. I am going to try to reinstall 2005 and forget the stupidity of paying to upgrade.
If there is an answer out there, I will appreciate hearing how you solve it.

John, I have over 10,000 photos and it works. A friend of mine has over 40,000, and iPhoto works faster than iPhoto 5 did with 5000.
There is one problem though, and from your post it looks like you're encountering it - since iPhoto 6 is required to move your photos to a better organization (debatable for some but I like it) structure, it needs to move all your photo files. Usually if it can't move them, it assumes there is a permissions problem. Sometimes, there is another problem - if any file is "locked", iPhoto will still put up the same error. So here's how to correct both problems.
First: Go to your iPhoto library folder in the Finder and Get Info (Cmd-I). In the Ownership and Permissions, expand the Details section. Make sure you are the owner, and set the access to Read and Write. Then click "Apply to enclosed items" and authenticate. This should address any permissions problem throughout your library. If this fixes your problem, you don't need step two.
Second: From your /Applications/Utilities/ folder, launch Console. Click Clear to clear the screen. Launch iPhoto 6, click Upgrade and get that error. If you look in Console, it may give you a list of files that are locked. I'm not sure how this happens, but some files get that way. You have to go to the specified locations of those files in the Finder, and Get Info on them. Uncheck the Locked checkbox for all of them.
You will be able to access and upgrade your library in iPhoto 6 easily after this. If not, post back here. iPhoto 6, in my opinion, is one of the best upgrades, not worth missing out on.

  • Having a problem with ilife 08 and leopard screen saver

    Hi,
Not sure if this is an osx leopard issue or a ilife 08 issue but before I did the upgrade I was able to use my entire iphoto library as random photos in the screensaver. Not it only let's me choose specific events or last import. it does not let me select the entire iphoto library?
    Any ideas on this?

In System Preferences/Screen Saver, you need to go down the list past all the Events and you will see a listing titled "Photos" just above the item titled "Last 12 Months". Select it and you will see the entire iPhoto Library there.

Hi! I had imovie when i bought my mac mini, unfortunately motherboard on my mac been damaged and I had to send my mac to authorized servcie. When I got my mac back there was no imovie or even iphoto on it. I can only buy it on appStore. What should i do??

I see there is no other option than buy it again ?

Well, my two-month-old MBP has no qualms about booting from a no-name external USB HD I put together...
Given that is is a common point of failure, I would imagine a large Apple Store should keep a stock of HD's on hand.
Now since you're a bit desperate and the genie pops up til Saturday and you seem to be the enterprising kind, let's try an experiment: if you have room enough in the external HD and assuming it isn't a Time Machine volume, why don't you plug it in, stick the Install CD and see if the installer lets you select the external drive as the install target. If you can install Leopard on it, on top of the backup without reformatting, and the Mac can boot from the drive afterwards, at least you would have some functionality restored and would be able to pull your stuff from the internal HD. Apple says booting from USB drives is not supported but that does not equate to not possible; some brands do work. Risks? Always. You can always lose your backup. Like I said, a challenge for an enterprising gal....
Next time around, consider having a bootable external clone at hand for rainy days. I keep three myself...
P.S. Since I'll be in the Dallas-FW area in late June, I can volunteer with the confetti....

  • Problems with 10.4.10 when installing iLife 08 and IWork 08

Hi there, I just bought iLife and IWork 08 and am having trouble installing them successfully. I upgraded to 10.4.10 to meet the requirements of IWork but my MacBook runs oddly when I install these two packages. Firstly the usual installer is not available so I am using a third party installer called pacifist to install the new software. The programs such as garageband and itunes and iphoto won't launch - other programs like safari crash. I am now back at 10.4.07. Any ideas on what could be causing these problems? My crash reporter references problems with frameworks and systemGUI. i did get Garageband to work briefly one night but the next day the problems returned. I have used disk utiity to check preferences but it was okay and does not seem to help. A hardware test was also okay and the system is operating fine in 4.7 so this seems to be a software issue. Any ideas? Should I wait unti the next version of 10.4.10?

I can see from your answer and others on this board, that we are not alone.
I was thinking of emailing Macworld or some of the other mac sites to get them to take up the story.
Otherwise I suppose it will be a period of denial from Apple
And then with a bit of luck an update that will iron out these bugs
    Cheers
    Andrew

  • Problem with Java after Software Update to 10.5.7

    Hi,
I am facing problem with Java after having run Software upgrades.
Here is the whole story. I recently moved to iMac 10.5.6 from PowerPc 10.4. On this new machine I was having problem running a 3rd party application, which requires JVM. Hi man,
In the wake of this java problem I resorted to keep working on my old machine, and today in my spare time I tried to fix this new machine.
So I execute $java on prompt, and then try to check the files it has opened, using lsof -p pid
    I see it referring to
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home/bin/java
    isn't this usually the JAVA_HOME
    However, executing $/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0/Home/bin/java
    hangs!!
    but
    $/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/bin/java
    works!!
    $ pwd
    /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home/bin
    $ ./java -version
    java version "1.6.0_07"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06-153)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0_07-b06-57, mixed mode)

  • OS X 10.5.x AirPort Dropout Issue - Problem with Apple

I am posting this as a new topic in the hope that Apple will take urgent action to resolve these AirPort dropout issues with OS X 10.5.x.
Yesterday, I installed setup a new 40GB partition on my firewire drive and installed OS X 10.5.2 (from my original installation dvd) and did all updates (via Software Update) to arrive at an up-to-date OS X 10.5.5. Only stock standard OS X 10.5.5 installed now.
Some interesting observations along the way:
    1. After installing 10.5.2 the AirPort network kept dropping out or stalling.
    2. Installed following updates:
    - AirPort Utility (5.3.2)
    - QuickTime (7.5.5)
    - iLife Support (8.3)
    - iTunes (8.0)
    - Remote Desktop Client Update (3.2.2)
    - Java For Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1 (1.0)
I did not update to OS X 10.5.5 at this time.
    3. Restarted and AirPort network stable and fast.
    4. Ran Software Update again - installed:
    - Front Row Update (2.1.6)
    - Mac OS X Update Combined (10.5.5)
    5. Restarted and AirPort network stable and fast.
    6. Ran Software Update again - all software up to date.
    7. Repaired permissions with Disk Utility.
Everything has been going fine with connections to the internet with Safari - until this morning.
My 'clean' OS X 10.5.5 installation is now suffering from the same AirPort network dropouts - no 3rd party applications installed. Ran OK for a day, but after being shutdown for 5 or 6 hours, the problem arose following startup this morning.
    Conclusion:
    1. AirPort problem with OS X 10.5.x; or
    2. AirPort problem with new 17" MBP; or
    3. Problem with AEB 802.11n (gagabit ethernet); or
    4. Problem with DSL modem or ISP connection.
Comments on item 1 - think I have conclusively eliminated 3rd party software.
Comment on item 2 - no problems indicated by TechTool Delux or TechTool Pro 4; works OK via ethernet connection.
Comment on item 3 - previously did factory reset and textbook setup on AEB. Connection via AEB 802.11g relay and remote work fine.
Comment on item 4 - fact that other computers connect OK and this computer can connect OK via ethernet rules out problems with DSL modem and ISP.
Draw your own conclusions, but I am now certain the problem is clearly with Apple.

    Hello,
    looks same to me.
    the log says:
kernel AirPort: Link Down on en1
kernel unable to collect channel list from hal;(...)
my AEB is just 2 ms away from the MacBookPro, the AEB is brand new.
In the moment I have an ethernet cable going from the router through the house, because the AEB is unrelyable. I used all the tricks people posted and said it would solve the problem, which is not the case for me. Dropouts just continue.
With the old ufo-style extreme there was no problem at all.
So please Airport developers put effort to solve the problem and suffering of users.
    thanks

  • Problems with exporting after Facebook export installation

    Hi there,
I installed the Facebook exporter app and then discovered my iPhoto is too old (it is iPhoto 4). Thereafter I was unable to export anything because my mac would crash. So I uninstalled the app and since then my normal export button is missing. I found a forum on this site, where the same problem was solved, but this was for someone with iLife 08 and required a reinstallation from disk.
The problem is, I bought OS X 10.5 recently but not iLife, so my iPhoto etc is from the old days. I would be totally, infinitely and unbelievably grateful if someone could help me out here, because I currently cannot export anything from iPhoto. Which disk do I use for reinstallation? When I bought my mac it had 10.3 on it. How do I reinstall iPhoto when my operating system is new? Help!
    Cheers,
    Kerry

Thanks for that - unfortunately I have lost disk number 1 and can only find disk number 2. Honestly, I never thought I'd need them, and they've been packed and unpacked at least 4 times since I bought the computer.
I am trying to get the disk from mac friends - I'll see what happens. If anyone knows how to get hold of these old disks, or another work-around, I'd be very grateful...
    cheers and thanks again,
    Kerry

  • Problem with sound format

    Hi,
Has anyone experienced problems with the audio when importing to imovie hd06 from a dv tape? It starts out fine but the later clips seems to alter the sample resolution in the audio file so that audio is the same lenght but pitch is lower..?
    Macmann

    Hi m
Some thoughts about audio in iMovie HD 6:
    • it should be 16-bit (cheque that Your Camera not is set to 12-bit)
    • movie should be recorded in SP-mode (60min on a 60min tape) Not LP-mode (90min)
    • lot's of audio clips = severe audio problems. Solution: Mixing down audio to just a few
by exporting out as QuickTime expert audio .aiff. Then importing this and silence out the rest.
    • If You updated to iLife 08 Your iM6 will start to ill behave. Updating to 6.0.4 might help.
    Yours Bengt W

  • A serious problem with Mac OS X

    Dear Mac Community
Since I bought my first iPod (a 3G), I have been a fan of Apple. For years, I had wanted to make a switch to the Mac. About a month ago, I finally decided it was time to leave the M$ world, and bought a Mini.
My overall experience has been nearly flawless, with no crashes, truly amazing apps that are mac only (like QS, adium, spotlight and the whole iLife bundle, to name a few) and a very good looking interface.
You may've noticed the word "nearly" on the previous paragragh, and it's there for a reason. There is one serious problem I can't solve. I am Brazilian, and therefore, I speak and write mostly in Portuguese. But OS X has no support for the Brazilian layout keyboard. I have been after a solution since day 1 with my Mac, but all I have managed to find out is that there are tons of pages in the web about Portuguese speakers complaining that their keyboards don't work properly. Apparently, this has been an issue since Mac OS 10.0, and until Tiger there isn't a solution for it.
There are many different hacks to try to solve this, and I've tried every one, but they are either buggy, or don't work properly with non-universal apps (including word), or aren't 100% accurate on the keys placement.
The fact is, I write a lot for school, and I need a Brazilian layout keyboard. And my parents, who were also seriously considering switching, work a lot with translations, so it is even more important for them to have the right layout.
I am going to send a complaint for apple regarding this, but I'm skeptical that I'll get a solution, since this has been a known issue for a long time.
    Sincerely
    Daniel

There is another major problem with the layout I'm currently using which I forgot to say:
    - I can type accented letters with almost no problem (á, à, ó, é, etc), except for "è" (e + `), which shows up simply as "e".
"That seems very strange to me. It could be something related to layout id's, which can easily be changed. Let me know if mine works with Word (I assume you are talking about Word2004 rather than the old WordX?)."
I've checked that more carefully, and here's what I've come up with: Word doesn't change the layout to US, it simply stops recognizing the 12th key (the extra one) which is responsible for "/" and "?" (and therefore is fairly important)
    btw, I'm using Word 2004
"Thanks. Feel free to email me details and screenshots if you like. Since no one outside Brazil is likely to have the special keyboard with 12 keys on the bottom row, it's somewhat difficult to build and test layouts like this. (tom at bluesky dot org).
Try the one called winbrazabnt73.keylayout, which tries to put in the extra key. "
There is one problem with your layout, which is the fact that no app recognizes the 12th key responsible for "/" and "?" (including Pages, which doesn't have this problem with the other layout I'm using).
On the other hand, your layout manages to type the "è", whereas my other layout doesn't.
In the site you provided above in this thread (
http://m10lmac.blogspot.com/2007/02/fixing-brazilian-keyboard-layout.html), there is an image of different kb layouts available in Windows and OS X. If you could make the Windows Brazilian ABNT and it worked with Word, all my issues would be solved, since that's exactly the layout I'm looking for.
BTW, thanks for all the support
    Best regards

  • Problem with iWeb publishing to IE

Hello, I am experiencing a problem with iWeb '08 publishing content to Internet Explorer. The images and web pages look fine in Safari and in Firefox, but a lot of the web page images are mirrored in IE, covering up large parts of the text. Please don't tell me I have to spend $79.00 on upgrading to iLife '09. I just upgraded my iWorks to '09, but would upgrading to '09 in this instance even be the answer? Please advise. I fear that I will alienating any of my IE web surfers. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the board.
IE is a terrible browser to render pages made with IWeb (I'm not sure upgrading to ILife 09 will fix your problem).
I decided to somewhat "alienate" my IE visitor by putting a message on my home page that recommend them to use a compatible browser. Check my page (using IE here: http://www.wesdotphotography.com/Home.html) and look at the message. Also if you use any other browser you will not see my message and will experience a better browsing. It is not the fault of IWeb but more like Microsoft not writing a proper browser. a lot of people will confirm my say.
Search this forum and you will see a lot of complaints about IE.
    Good luck
    Thierry
