Problems with illustrator CS3. loading drawings, swatches everything takes minutes

Since a couple of days the problems started at my office. All pc's started to have problems with illustrator and photoshop. But most of all illustrator. On start-up it is quick as it used to be but when i want to load a drawing, swatch or symbol it takes minutes. I don't know if it has to do with an update or something else. I only know that it started a few days ago on all pc's but not on the mac's.

What exactly is a few days ago? The last Windows Update was on last Tuesday. Except for a .NET fix and various Office patches it did not seem to have anything critical, but it may be possible that it affects your computers. It's a far cry, though. More likely it's a virus scanner or something with your network settings, that causes erratic file opening behavior. Hard to tell without more info. your description is too generic and vague.

hi, i'm new in illustrator and i have a problem with it; when i choose in stroke 0,75 or less than 1, i can't change it, but when i choose more than 1, it changes. I select the whole picture but it still does not change.

Go into the Transform panel and uncheck the box that says Align to Pixel Grid. It is new to CS5 and on by default.

Problem with Illustrator CS3 transform tool

When I draw an object in Illustrator, for example a rectangle, then use the transform Height & Width boxes in the options bar to resize the rectangle into a square, the resulting square will not reflect the original size I wanted. For example: the original rectangle was 240 points by 174 points. I typed 250 points into the W & H boxes of the option panel to resize the rectangle into a 250 point square. Instead of a 250 point square, I get a rectangle 249.979 pts by 249.983 pts. Trying again with the same 250 point values will give me 250 pts by 249.993 pts. Trying a third time will result in the size I wanted originally. This has only started to happen within the last few weeks. I don't know what I did to cause this. Does anyone have any ideas??

Use preview bounds get turned on? Look in the flyout menu of your align panel.
Snap to grid or snap to point get turned on? (I think that might do it too...) Look in your view menu.

Weird Z and Y key swap and arabic filename problems in Illustrator CS3

I am having some very weird problems with Illustrator CS3.
At completely random times, the software starts to think my Y and Z keys have swapped places. i.e. When I type anything or use any shortcuts, the opposite letters appear and are used.
Also from time to time, when I save a file, the filename is written in Arabic and I have to rename the file again in Explorer to correct this.
Both of these problems are random and a restart or Illustrator usually fixes both of these. But what a pain and waste of time.
Anyone else getting problems like this?

My guess is, it is related to Windows. Try to press shift and ctrl at once if the problem occurs. The keys should be switched back...
You have probably installed more than one keyboard in Windows. Shift-ctrl is the standard way to switch between them. You can change this in the Windows keyboard configuration file.
I had this problem with a German and a VS keyboard installed.

Problems with Illustrator CS2

Argh! Suspected problem with Illustrator CS2...
When I look in the Stroke/Fill boxes for colours, I have no options available to me. All that appears is this: http://www.ioimi.com/images/strokefill.jpg.
Is this normal? All I want to do is selected different colours for the line stroke and fill colour of something I have already drawn using the pen tool.
Also, how do I move or remove rulers once placed and why is it that if I use the arrow keys on the end of a line it moves it more than one pixel? How do I keep a line straight? It's so much easier in photoshop but I need to learn.

That is not the Color palette, it is the Swatches palette. It's where pre-mixed colours, gradients, and patterns can be stored and quickly applied. The file you are using has no swatches.
You can add your own by loading swatches from any other Illustrator file or from the libraries that ship with Illustrator. You can also add a swatch by mixing a colour in the Color palette and either dragging the colour onto the Swatches palette or clicking one the New Swatch icon (The page icon next to the trash can).

Problem with module lazy loading in flex 3

I have some problems with Module lazy loading. I am using flex 3.5, Module-flex3-0.14, parsley 3.2.
I can't get the LazyModuleLoadPolicy working correctly.
In my main application (the one that loads the modules), my parsley context is the following:

If i uncomment the basicLoadPolicy in LazyModulePod.mxml and remove the lazyModuleLoadPolicy, everything works fine. The module is loaded when it's added to stage and it receives correctly messages dispatched to it. But with the lazy policy the module never loads.
I may have missed something or there is somthing i don't understand because i tried the ModuleTest provided in example in cairngorm sources. It works fine (i mean loading the moduleA2 when receiving a message), but if i replace the change the lazyModulePolicy to listen to broadcasted messages instead of a pingMessage, the module never loads too.

Hello, back on my issue, i tested a little bit more the message dispaching.
I read the lazyLoadPolicy class and noticed that it always has to have a ModuleId property in the message to work, that's why the broadcast message didn't work to awake the module with the lazy loading policy.
So i added copy of my module:

Set them both with a basicLoadPolicy, and tries to dispatch a message to only one of them using the ModuleId metatag. I then noticed that both modules received the message and not only the one i expected.
I then changed the ModuleMessageInterceptor configuration to dispatch to only one kind of module:

and this worked as expected. Only the first module catched the message. I am obiously messing with the ModuleId metatag but i cannot see what's wrong...
I compiled with
-keep-as3-metadata+=ModuleId
but this hasn't changed anything...

Problems reinstalling Illustrator CS3

I was having issues with Illustrator CS3, it kept crashing, so in hopes of fixing the problem I uninstalled and am now trying to reinstall.
When I put the install disc in, it starts to go through the process then asks for me to put in InDesign CS4 disc. I do and then a minute later it asks for me to put in the Illustrator CS3 disc. And it keeps going back and forth like that and it doesn't seem to be making any progress in installation.

It is on a PC so we did an uninstall through the control panel.

Printing problems with InDesign CS3 running on OS 10.6

I recently upgrade my old G4 Mac (OS 10.4) to a new Mac Mini running OS 10.6.6. I am still running CS3 and have encountered only one problem. When I print multiple copies documents from InDesign that contain several layers, each copy is processed separately, so that it can take several minutes just to send the print job to the printer if I'm printing over 20 copies. Then once the print job is processed the printer pauses between every copy, which is tripling the printing time. If I print a simpler document with only one or two layers it processes all the copies at once, as it should. I am printing on an Okidata 6150 color laser printer.
I never had this problem on my old computer. I'm wondering if this is one of the "unsupported" bugs of running CS3 on Snow Leopard. I want to make sure that this is a problem unique to running CS3 with Snow Leopard before I go ahead and upgrade to CS4 or CS5.
computer: Mac Mini core 2 duo 2.4 ghz processors, 4 gb RAM, printer: Okidata 6150 DN color laser printer.

I had bought InDesign CS3 about a year ago, but hadn't gotten around to using it since version 3.0 had been working fine, and I was used to it. Then, when I got my new computer, I decided it was time to use the newer version. However, while using InDesign 3.0 with the old Mac OS 4.11, a printing problem popped up there, too, a few months ago... and it also involved printing problems with Adobe Reader. I contacted Adobe, and they sent me a patch which fixed it. I will contact Adobe again if need be, although I thought I'd start here first to see if it was a common enough problem that someone might be able to provide a free and routine answer.

Problem with whitespace then loading and saving xml

i do not know how to handle this problem. i modifed a texteditor to send XML to a server and load XML back to the container.
but then i do changes to the Textlayout it shows up like this --->
Text in Container not modifed
Text in Container modifed ---> with space beween the colorchanged string
Text inContainersend and loaded ---> i think this has something to to with the
TextFilter.export(_textFlow,TextFilter.TEXT_LAYOUT_FORMAT,ConversionType.XML_TYPE)

its a modified example of the texteditor provided by Adobe. You can send a xml to the server. and also read it from the server. You just use the xml identifer to give the xml a name.
Try it out:
1. change the text and
2. give a XML-Identifer
   and then send it to the server. --> send to server
3. type in the XML-Identifer you have used and
4.   load it from the server ---> Load from Server Button
evering works ok exept the columns formating.
I Think the colums Formating is not embeded in the XML as it should be. I attached the Files. (Newbie programmer)

Sounds like you have two different issues going on: (1) inline graphics aren't coming out correctly when you use the TextLineFactory, and (2) columns aren't working correctly. It's difficult for me to tell by looking at the application you link what is going wrong. One of the examples does seem to have columns working -- can you be more specific about what you're doing, and what results you are seeing? As for the inline graphics, there is a timing issue involved with using URLs, due to the asynchronous loading. See this comment in the docs for TextFlowTextLineFactory:
Note: When using inline graphics, the source property of the InlineGraphicElement object   must either be an instance of a DisplayObject or a Class object representing an embedded asset.   URLRequest objects cannot be used. The width and height of the inline graphic at the time the line   is created is used to compose the flow.

AHCI Problems with DW CS3

I have problems with DW CS3 when I use the AHCI mode in BIOS.
Then DW can not start. But I need a solution. Since I do not want
to buy DW CS4 although this runs without any problems.

Yes...the pages from the book display perfectly in dw8, but
not in DWcs3.
I found that by commenting out the "clear:left;" under "#nav"
the page displays properly in DWcs3, too. That leaves open the
question of "why".

Printing problems with InDesign CS3 with Mac OS 10.6.3

I am not new to InDesign... I have CS3... but I am brand new to Mac Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.3). Although I can open CS3 and use the application, I cannot print with it. None of my other applications has printing issues... just CS3. Any suggestions?
