Problems with iPhoto 6 and Canon SELPHY CP720

Just got the CP720 and tried printing from iPhoto. All the pictures come out too dark - noticeably darker than on my Apple display. This makes iPhoto editing worthless, since what you see is not what prints !!! Spent two days researching Colorsync and ICC profiles documentation, but can't figure out what the problem is. Canon states no guarantee that their printers work with 10.4.x. A query to their customer service produced no solution.
I've seen a couple references to this same iPhoto compatibility problem on other Canon printers. If you are printing iPhoto to Canon, compare your photos and see if you may be experiencing this as well.
Anyone figure this out yet?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I'm having problems with iPhoto and the facebook set-up.  Every time I attempt to do so it says an error has occured and try again later.  I have not seen a solution posted.  Therefore, how does one contact Apple to solve the problem?  I'm new to the world of iMac but I find it a bit frustrating trying to solve basic issues/problems:(

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

  • Problem with iPhoto and Photoshop CS3

iPhoto is starting to get on my nerves. I just spent the better part of a day figuring out a scanner interface issue--now something weird is going on with CS3.
Today, when I uploaded images from my iPhone to my laptop and tried to edit them in CS3 using the cropping tool, the image size went from like 10 inches to 1 pixel. If I go into image size and try to restore the size, the image comes up blank.
I ended up having to crop the image in iPhoto and complete the editing in Photoshop. Apparently cropping is the only Photoshop tool that's affected. What's going on? This is taking me twice as long as it should.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The following may be of interest:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Two problems with iPhoto and mutiuser iMac

I have an iMac with two users. I moved my iPhoto library to the Users/Shared folder. When I log on as the first user and open iPhoto it opens to the library in the Users/Shared folder, which is what I want. When I log on as the second user (after closing iPhoto for the first user) and open iPhoto there are two problems.
First I cannot stop the "Welcome to iPhoto" window with the tutorials from opening. I uncheck the box at the lower left hand corner but it always opens every time I close and re-open iPhoto.
And second, When I open iPhoto holding the option key down, I get the option of selecting which library I want to view. I select the library in the Users/Shared folder, but when I close iPhoto and re-open I get the library for that user. Although when I open iPhoto and hold the option key down to select which library I want the message states "The same photo library will be used the next time you open iPhoto."
Can someone help me out with these two problems?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Both of these sound like a damaged Preference file in the Second User Account. So:
+In the Second User Account+ - i.e. the affected one: trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • OS X Mavericks problem with iphoto and imovie

    Hi,
I having problem with my iphoto and imovie after installing 10.9. When i go to Appstore and ask me to recomfirm but there's nothing happen..why? kindly help me.

If you purchased the apps from the Mac App Store, log into the Mac App Store, go to Purchases and redownload them. If you didn't and you have the CD/DVD of iLife you can reinstall the apps from there.
If you have a Time Machine backup or clone of your previous OS X install, you can use the Migration Assistant to copy over your apps.

  • Photo problems between iphoto and Canon Digital Photo Professional

    Hey people,
So I've copied all my photos from my SD card and iphoto asked if I wanted to import them so I said yes. I've put them in folders, albums etc and have since installed my Canon software for its editing programme but cannot seem to open my photos in it.
The folder 'iphoto' in the finder or 'all images' aren't available when browsing in the Canon programme, and I cannot drag and drop them into it from the all images folder. The only way I've found to open them in the Canon programme is to copy them and put them into a new folder and having 2 copies of the same photo.
Is there a way of being able to access the photos in both programmes, such as creating a single shared folder with the photos in and then setting them both to have access to it?
    Any help would be great!
    Will

Applologies, I have since discovered the 'export' function in the file menu, so I've solved my problem.

  • Just updated to Maverick on my IMac and have all kind of problems with Iphoto and Mailbox

I recently updated my IMac to Maverick and  was not aware of all the problems that came with this update. In Iphoto a lot of pictures disappeared and other are turned upside down other were wrong format. In the mailbox I tried to sort by name of sender to find out that names of sender are not matching the mail. One name that I have had on e conversation with was related to 10 mails with NO connection to him.   Have made all the updates to latest version Iphoto promelem remains.

Re iphoto, back up first then rebuild the library as follows.

If you still have problems post in iphoto forum
There is also a rebuild mailbox option in Mavericks Mail.

I use iphoto 11, version 9.5 (902.7) and Aperture 3.5.  both are dodgy since installing Mavericks - freezing, not allowing access while wheel spins, showing "Processing". I've re-installed both aperture and iphoto from the Apps store.  No difference. Advice please.

The problem keeps occuring every time  I shut down my laptop and reopen it when I am not at home (i.e. no Time capsule connected...)
What could I do to solve this issue...anyone please?

  • Problems with iPhoto and Photo Booth

I can't open or use iPhoto. When I click on the icon on the dock, a pop-up comes up and says I "cannot create new library" because I "do not have enough access privileges". Then when I click Photo Booth a pop-up says Photo Booth cannot save any photos. I'm having trouble opening some programs. If it's helpful, my macbook pro is a 10.6.8 version. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Jambagroov-
I have not tried it, but found an article that explains how to sync your iPad to a new computer:  <How to Sync an iPad With a New Computer - eHow.com>.  I know you can lose your data if you do not do it right!
Another article is at:  <How to Sync an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with a new computer>.
Someone else may have a better reference, perhaps from Apple.

  • Print problem with iPhoto and P-10

I downloaded the correct driver for my Olympus P-10 digital printer, and iPhoto recognizes it. The printer prints fine directly from the camera, however, when I try to print an edited photo from iPhoto 5.0.4, the full image does not print. A portion of it does, depending upon what constraints I have set in the edit process. I've tried multiple configurations of restraints to no avail. So far, the closest acceptable print is to set the layout to "N-up" which essentially prints four 4X6 photos to a page, but even that is not as good as it should be. What am I doing wrong in iPhoto?
    Thanks in advance.

    iPhoto does not support printer

Since upgrading to Lion OS, I have noticed that every time I open iPhoto 11, it tells me that it needs to be upgraded.  I have checked for software updates and am told that there are none.  Does anyone know how to resolve this?

What version are you at now, 9.1 or 9.2....?

  • Problem with  iPhoto and iOS8

I had edited my photos on my iPhone which has ios 8 installed in it, but when I imported all these photos on to my mac using iPhoto, I lost all the edits that I had put a lot of effort on. The photos which were imported were without these edits. Why did this happen? Is iOS 8 not supported by iphoto? What do I do to get back the edited photos on my phone?

  • I have a problem with iphoto (have a mac book pro): the icon in the dock appears with a question mark, and the application is gone!!! Can someone tell what's going on? Yesterday I had the same problem with itunes

I have a problem with iphoto (have a mac book pro): the icon in the dock appears with a question mark, and the application is gone!!! Can someone tell what's going on? Yesterday I had the same problem with itunes: I downloaded the last version (it's free), but I cannot do the same with iphoto, and more important: I need to know what is happening!!! Please help me!

Applications should not disappear all by themselves.
If they are then that coud indicate serious problems with your hard drive.
Backup everything up as quickly as possible.
Using Disk Utility verify your system disk.

  • I am using iPhoto 11 and my library has 736.5mb on disk. I have problems with iPhoto stalling and needing to force quit. I have rebuilt my library. Can you suggest anything else?

I am using iPhoto 11 and my library has 736.5mb on disk. I have problems with iPhoto stalling and needing to force quit. I have rebuilt my library. Can you suggest anything else? Thanks, Rose

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that does'nt help log into another user account on your Mac and try iPhoto from there.

I have a problem with Iphoto '06.  I have approximately 28000 photos.  Recently all but 5000 have disappeared.  I can not find or restore them.  Any suggestions?

This is what the inside of an iPhoto 6 library looks like:
Where in there did you look for the image files?
Did you run any updaters pror to discovering the missing photos?  What fixes have you tried?  Do you have a backup of the library on another hard drive?
