Problems with Itunes after 9.02 install

I downloaded the version of itunes 9.0.2 recently. The next day, the shortcut was disabled. I tried uninstalling and an error message came up saying:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."
"Click OK to try again, opr enter an alternative path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below.
I tried finding this file/package in my cpu through searching.....it came up with one....and it said that it wasn't a valid installation package.
Any ideas?

why not try downloading it again and just installing

  • HT1589 problems with itunes after updating..can't locate some of my songs..some have an exclamation point beside them how do i get these songs back in my itunes

I'm having problems with itunes after updating. I've lost all my playlists,,finally played around with it and got the songs back but some have an exclamation point beside them and can't be located. they are songs i've purchased. I'm not very computer literate so this is a major problem. I have spent hours with this. I just want all my songs to play even though I'm not happy that I have to recreate my playlists. It would be so much easier if I knew and understood how to correct this. Has anyone else had this problem and if so..is there an easy way to correct it?

Not sure how this is an ipod touch question.
Perhaps you should post in the itunes forum.

  • Problem with iTunes after upgrading

Hey guys my name is jake and my issue is so:
i've upgraded my iTunes to the latest version 7.4.3 yesterday and on the same day i've installed quick time 6.5 codec for some work i needed.
now i dont know if the quick time install is relate to it but since then my itunes wont open. it just errors me and ask me if i want to send or not to send eroor report
when running quicktime( the one came with itunes) it says buffer overrun detected
i tried reinstalling itunes few times and tried to install it on older version
nothing has worked. also removed the ipod driver and reinstalled it
    havent worked either.
    any advices?
    thanks ahead
    Jake

I recently upgraded to the latest that was offered and I think it was 7.4.1. Have they made a newer one since then??
Anyways, I had a problem immediately. I have a large majority of my music on an external hard drive, and some downloaded music on my computer. After upgrading, itunes would not work, and I discovered that when I unplugged the external hard drive (which contains most of my music) itunes did work and played what was already on my laptop. Everytime I try to plug my external hard drive back in, the same problem occurs: itunes freezes and I have to shut my computer down. I also noticed that it says I have something like 6000 songs and 347 GB! I don't know how many gigs 6000 songs might be depending on length, but there is no way I have 347 gigs of music since I have nowhere near that amount of space on my hard drive and external hard drive nor do I have that much music anyways...no CLUE what is going on here.
I'm afraid to delete itunes and reinstall it because I don't want the downloaded music on my computer to be deleted and I don't currently hve a place to back it up. Have you found any solutions/know what's going on with me??

  • Vista SP1 update problems with itunes after

    Hello,
After installing the SP1 Vista update, i cant play music anymore with itunes.
the play button doesnt work anymore. After installing (repairing) itunes again? it still doesnt work.

Well, a little update. I plugged my phone back into my laptop, went into iTunes again though the computer, and let it sync again. Unplugged it, and the same thing happened again. I shut the phone off, then turned it on again, recharged the battery on the wall charger and it seems to be working OK now.
Every now and then my App Store will not open, and certian apps will crash, but a little better than before.
I'll tell you what, Apple really dropped the ball with the 4.0 update for us 3G users it looks like

  • Can't sync iPad with iTunes after W7 clean install

i had some PC problems & had to do a clean install. i had no problems at all with itunes & my iPad before that. my iPhone 4 synced perfectly fine (except for a few apps being lost, but no biggy), but my iPad 2 won't sync at all. i'm okay with losing apps just to get this thing to work, but here's what happens step-by-step...
i plug the iPad into my PC
    i back it up successfully
i right-click on my iPad on the left side & hit Sync
nothing happens! there's not even an option for Apps on the left-hand panel.
    what can i do?
    thanks!

    Hello,
You can try selecting the manual sync option which will give you a prompt that this will erase all data on your ipad and replace with your library. Once done, you can enable atomatic sync and try again.
    Thanks,

  • Problem with mail after mountain lion install

Mail has become sluggish to locking up after Mountain Lion install.  I get the color wheel each time I start typing in an address to send an email.  I also get the wheel when i am typing an address or name in any web page in Safari.  Is this a Mail Problem or an Address Book problem?

It sounds like your computer needs to be cleaned up. Have your repaired permissions or cleared caches since you got the computer. Often times when upgrading operating systems permissions get screwed up and it causes issues.  Go to disk utility in your "other" folder in applications.  Select disk utility, then on the left hand side choose Mac HD then click REPAIR permissions in the center section. Wait for it to finish, restart your computer, then test.

  • Request help for synching iPod with iTunes after Windows re-install

I recently reformatted my hard-drive. I have installed iTunes. When I plug in my iPod (old Nano), I get a message asking me to "Erase and Sync" or "Transfer Purchases". My iPod has some purchased songs, and many songs ripped from my CD collection (mp3 format). I would like to have the entire iPod contents populate the new (empty) iTunes library. I am guessing that the Transfer option is the best of the two, but am worried about losing songs, since it would be a lot of work to re-rip the non-purchased songs. Will "Transfer Purchases" transfer all music?
I would appreciate any suggestions, before I proceed. Thanks in advance to any replies.
    EMK

*Will "Transfer Purchases" transfer all music?*
No it won't, it will only do what it says which is to transfer purchases, it won't transfer non-purchased items.
*When I plug in my iPod (old Nano), I get a message asking me to "Erase and Sync" or "Transfer Purchases".*
Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod.
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
As for your purchased songs, the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article but the utilities above will copy both purchased and non purchased songs anyway: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Syncing problem with itunes after restoring to a new PC from iPod

My old PC crashed and I copied my iTunes libray to a new PC from my iPod. The libray includes several songs taken from CD's I purchased plus several songs that I had purchased from iTunes. I also "authorized" the new PC. However, when I sync now none of the purchased songs from my new iTunes file will copy back to the iPod. It will only sync the songs from my personal CD collection. I get a message that the iPod is not authorized for these songs. Any suggestions for a fix?

Try deauthorising your PC and authorise it over again, this can sometimes clear a "not authorised" problem: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Problems with iTunes after installing an SSD/HDD on my Macbook Pro

    Hello everybody,
I decided to install a SSD on my Macbook Pro, replacing the optical drive with it, then I set up the new disk to be the boot drive and left the HDD on its place to store media and stuff.
Obviously, my library now is on the HDD, but when I try to delete a file via iTunes I get a partial elimination, or no elimination at all. The songs remain on their place on iTunes. I have no idea why. My only theory is related to the TRIM option: I have a small application that enabled it on both drives, so maybe it may be a pain for the HDD?
    Any help?
    Thanks!

First, spinning hard drives don't use TRIM, so you can't enable it on your HD, only your SSD.
Is your SSD your boot drive? Where do you have your iTunes media stored? There's a right way and a wrong way to change the location of the media - see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1449.
    Good luck,

  • HELP! Problems with MacBook after software updates install.

    Hi Guys,
I have a friend of mine that has a MacBook. After a while without doing the software updates she connected her MacBook on the internet and there was a lot of software updates to do, so she went on and install everything. She describes me that the problem was with Tiger 10.4.11, it pop up a "Warning Sign - Error" and freezes she says.
She re-start the computer and It get stuck on the gray window with the Apple with the lil circle spinning endless.
Is there any tip or something that I can help her?...
    [Sorry about my english... lol)

    Hello coreanomac!
The following Apple Support article is good for working through the problem. Based on your explanation of what happened, follow the advice of the "Try a different software update source" and "Installation fails during 'optimization'" paragraphs of the "Troubleshooting an unsuccessful installation" section:
Mac OS X: Troubleshooting installation and software updates
Also reading the "Before Installing" section may be useful, as well.

OK ... It seems by exiting LR and re-launching it, the problem goes away. I blame Apple for this one, clearly.

  • Problems with iTunes Sync Since Mavericks Install

    MacBook Air, 2011, 4GB, 1.7 GHz, 256GB Drive
Early this week I installed Mavericks (no problem).  System Update also updated iTunes and iOS 7 on my various mobile devices.
Now, every other time (more or less) I connect my iphone or ipad for syncs, i get the following symptoms:
    - Fans start to run at high speed, with SMC temperature indicator shooting to 200
    - Activity Monitor confirms that the energy hog is iTunes
    - Battery runs down quickly and visibly
    - iTines then syncs everything, i.e. re-dowloads to my mobile devices all the music and >3000 pictures.
Went to the Apple story and, in the typical Apple answer, they said we haven't heard of the problem.  Of course, I could not replicate it in fron of them.
Is this a known problem? Any hints?

Go to Add/Remove Software or Manage Applications (Whatever they changed it to in Vista/7/8) Find and remove iTunes and iTunes Mobile Device support. Better yet follow this:
