I'm new in crystal reports and try to connect a sample bean class to the java beans conectivity. Problem is that i only get JavaServerType=JavaBeans|JavaBeanName= for selection. Can anyone tell me what the problem is with my configuration. I followed the steps of the POJOTutorial.doc and the Configuration-Infos of the java_beans_connectivity.My System is w2k professional and for Crystal Reports i use the developer installation with Product Version 11.5.0.313 Thanks by now

              You realy can do it like Xiang says, but the better way is to use packages. That's
              the way BEA is designed for. If you use packages you can but your bean classes
              in every subfolder beneath Classes. Here for example we have the subfolders test
              and beans:
              You have to declare the package on top of your Bean Source Code:
              package test.beans;
              In your JSP you don't need the import code of Xiang. You only have to refer the
              path of your bean class:
              <jsp:useBean id="testBean" scope="session" class="test.beans.TestBean" />
              There are some other AppServers that only can deploy Java Beans in packages. So
              if you use packages you are always on the right side.

    /Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Do u have the getname method in the bean?If not,
    In the bean,the property is declared as a variable and must have a corresponding getter method.
    Either change the variable in bean as name or the property in jsp as sample
    public class Jsp1Bean
    private String name = "Start value";
    /**Access name property*/
         public String getname() {
         return name;
         /**Access name property*/
         public void setname(String newValue) {
         if (newValue!=null) {
         name = newValue;
    Guess this works,

  • Java bean connectivity -

    Hi,
    There are some issues while I am using webservice connection from crystal report.(I am using webservice with ws security but my cr doesn't support this. This create problem while I am calling cr from my java application).
    I tried Java bean connectivity .. but facing some problems - I would like to write a java bean which will retrieve data from my webservice and need to return to cr. Webservice return data as "soap xml", how can I convert this to resultset. Can I add my data directly to the xml before passing to the cr? Or can I use any other return type from my java bean.
    Could I provide a struts application url(action url) as a datasorce to the cr? If so how can I achieve this and what should be the return type.  Please advise the better datasource connection to resolve this issue?
    I want to call the report from java application and need to deploy the same in the Crystal enterprise server
    Thanks in advance
    Thomas

    Please re-post if this is still an issue or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with your directly

    You probably made the same mistake as I did and added the tables manually to the "sample" database instead of the "sun-appserv-samples" database.

  • Problems with java j2re using mozilla

    Hi,
    i'm using j2re1.4.2_05 plugin for mozilla in linux (Fedora Core 2). My internet access goes throught a router (SMC Networks ISDN Barricade SMC7301TA). It's settings can be edited throught a web browser LAN connection. And here the problems begin. On routers settings page a java output console (for error and other messages) is running, which doesn't work, despite java applications on other web pages work well (I tested it on sun's java test page and it's working properly). Java console exits the following errorr message:
    >
    load: class DynamicTable.class not found.
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: DynamicTable.class

    Is there a way to fix this problem? Cause without the command output it's mearly unpossible to configure the router.

    Yes i can make changes. Not everything is realised with java, just the output console, which reports if the changes i made succeded, prints out logs, gives additional info about some settings etc. So, i can make changes, but i have no response, for example: everytime i save something i don't know if the save was succesful. I can't take a look at IP routing table and DHCP configuration...
    On windows xp, using internet explorer (the default version for xp) everything works perfect. But mozilla for windows has also problems with java. I know i can still change settings on wins, but right now i'm having some problems with networking on linux and i have to set things up in it (besides i use wins only because of school purposes).

  • Language problem with my jdbc connection

    Hello,
    i'm having a problem with my jdbc connection.
    the problem is that i'm connecting to MS- Access db the have arabic tables, and columns, it was working fine on a windows XP environment prepared for arabic language, but when i had to move to windows vista it did not work and it gave me an exception.
    i'm using netbeans 6.1 IDE, and the exception is

    it was working fine on a windows XP environment prepared for arabic language, but when i had to move to windows vista it did not workStrange. Maybe you need to compare the differences of some system properties on both hosts, for instance, sun.io.unicode.encoding, file.encoding, user.region, and so on.

  • Problems with Java AQ interface migrating 9i to 10g

    Hi!
    I've got problems with Java AQ Interface migrating from 9i DB, JDBC, AQ to 10g rel.2 DB, JDBC, AQ
    First, i started to occasionally receive NullPointerException in Oracle JDBC 9.2.0.8

    We were using 9.2.0.8 JDBC and 9i and 10g databases.
    We decided to go up for 10g r2 JDBC Drivers, and 10.2 AQ but started to get the following errors:
    oracle.AQ.AQOracleSQLException: ORA-25216: invalid recipient, either NAME or ADDRESS must be specified

  • Crystal report Java Beans Connectivity

    Hi
    My name is Bach Ong. I.m currently migrating Crystal reports 10 to Crystal reports 2008 using Java Beans Connectivity. Using ResultSet as dataset. all results are return alright, EXCEPT for string type fields. The data for STRING type fields are some how suppressed. But if i executed the beans within eclipse the the string field is populated with data.
    can someone assist me with this issue.
    Thanks
    Bach Ong

    Some suggestions I would give for this are:
    1. It may be a fault with the data itself.  Specifically, if you have a string field that contains invalid or null data (Instead of an empty string), it may be causing an error to be thrown when the report engine tries to process the string fields - and it thus fails on all string fields.
    So please try this with some data where all fields contain valid non-null, non-empty data and see if it works.
    2. One of the difficulties with javabeans is that they don't give proper error messages.  However, there is a way to kick off the javabean java process in the crystal report designer which allows you to debug your javabean inside the report designer.  I have attached a sample that shows how to do that - and that should get you the real error message of what is going wrong.
    Note: Due to the way these forums work - it will only let me attach a file if it is named with the .txt extension.  You will need to extract the txt file and then rename it to .zip (annoying I know).

  • Problems with managed beans on included JSPs

    I've got a problem with managed beans within an included JSP
    The included page looks as follows:
    <f:subview id="includedPage" binding="#{testBean.component}">
         <h:outputText value="Hallo from the included page"/>
         <h:outputText value="#{testBean.msg}" />
    </f:subview>The including page is also very simple
    <f:view>
         <html>
              <head>
                   <title>Test include</title>
              </head>
              <body>
                   <h:outputText value="Hello from the including page"/>
                   <jsp:include page="included.jsp"/>
              </body>
         </html>
    </f:view>The testBean is a managed bean with page scope and looks as follows:
    public class TestBean {
        public UIComponent fComponent;
        public TestBean() {
            System.out.println("TestBean Constructor called " + toString() );
        public String getMsg() {
            return "Component = " + fComponent ;
        public void setComponent(UIComponent component) {
            System.out.println("setComponent called " + component);
            fComponent = component;
        public UIComponent getComponent() {
            System.out.println("getComponent called " + fComponent);
            return fComponent;
    }The output to the console is:
    TestBean Constructor called de.kvb.athena.web.beans.TestBean@1bc16f0
    getComponent called null
    TestBean Constructor called de.kvb.athena.web.beans.TestBean@18622f3
    setComponent called javax.faces.component.UINamingContainer@160877b
    TestBean Constructor called de.kvb.athena.web.beans.TestBean@5eb489
    and the page displays
    Hello from the include page
    Hello from the included page Component = null
    Can anyone explain this behavior ? What's the reason that the page displays
    Component = null
    and is it possible to display the parent naming container (subview) this way ?
    how ?
    Thanks

    By "page scope" I assume you mean "none"? If so JSF creates a new bean for each place it's referenced. The closest to the behavior you want, once per "page", is really request scope.
    (I'm not sure why the constructor is being called thrice, though. I should look into this.)
    I assume you want a bean-per-subview scenario. This should be doable, and one way that allows a dynamic number of subviews would be as follows:
    --create a "manager" bean in request scope
    --give it get/set methods that retrieves a Map of "TestBean" instances; the idea is that each subview use a different key "s1", "s2", etc
    back the manager method with Map implementation that checks if there's already a TestBean associated with the key returns it if yes, else null.
    If that seems messy, the component solution is hairy :-) See http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=568937&messageID=2812561

    Problems with n97 apps connecting to network (Vodafone UK – 3G)
    Recently a number of my apps which used to connect automatically to the internet (which ever was available – known wi-fi or 3g) have stopped doing this.  They now only connect to one known wi-fi.
    I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling each app, but this hasn’t solved the problem.  I’ve checked for software updates and do not believe any have been applied or are available.  All apps have been downloaded via Ovi on the phone.  I still am able to access the internet by the web browser which was installed on the phone and via google maps (which also still manages GPS position, search, etc).
    The apps which I notice causing a problem are:
    Sainsbury’s/nectar
    Tesco
    Map my tracks
    Snaptu
    Opera Mini
    Any one got any ideas???

    I have the same problem since i updated my mac to 10.5.6.
    Each time I have to do a diagnostic and retype the WEP password to have the internet connection.

  • Problem with Java and Windows (Mainly Vista and UAC)

    Hi all,
    I am having a problem with a program that I've devoloped. The program itself is packaged as a jar and I plan to deploy it across multiple platforms eventually however right now i am only concerned about windows based systems. I have made an installer for a windows baised systems using NSIS to install the software files. I made the installer as I need several java packages to be installed so the program would work (JAI, J3D, JAI ImageIO) and I also require the program to have fileassociations on windows.
    I know that this is not what java is about, however the majority of the users will be on windows baised systems so I've decided that OS specific installers is the best option.
    During the process I have noticed that there are several key problem with java for this type of application!
    The first issue that I have come across is getting file associations to work on java. As a .jar is not an excutable it is not possible to directly associate a filetype with it in java so to overcome this I currently run the program from a .bat files and also the program requires large memory so this also allows me to run the program with -xmx. The batch file that I use is :
    <code>
    cd PATH TO PROGRAM
    start javaw -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Xmn100M -Xms500M -Xmx1000M -jar "PATH TO PROGRAM\program.jar" %1 -vram 134217728
    pause;
    </code>
    Ok so all this appears to work fine and allows windows to have file associations and start the program and thats all works perfectly but this is a non-ideal solution. Has anyone got any advice on improving this?
    The next problem that I have appears to be a problem with Vista and UAC (user access control). When a user installs the program and installs the program into the program files directory I found that the program did not work and kept saying that I did not have access to the files in the current directory. This is a problem as I read and write settings files during program execution.
    On a Vista system UAC prevents file write operations into the Program Files directory unless the program has requested elevated status even if the user is a full administrator. The probem is that there appears to be no real way to achieve this under java that I'm aware of...
    Has anyone else had this probem and has a suitable solution?
    Any advice on these issues would realy be appricated.
    Regards
    Joey

    Ok so i've kinda found a solution, its not ideal but its very good. I found this program called Elevate
    A link to the site I got it was
    http://www.wintellect.com/cs/blogs/jrobbins/archive/2007/03/27/elevate-a-process-at-the-command-line-in-vista.aspx
    This program allows you start java with a UAC dialog for high access using
    Elevate java -jar myjar.jar
    This then allows you to have full access using java... I guess it could be dangerous but it does the job.
