Problems with metadata on iPhone

Question

A large portion of my music in iTunes isn't from iTunes, the majority are CD rips and from sites like Beatport. In iTunes, I keep everything organized, all fields are filled out correctly, and I keep the same fields filled out with every song. This includes, title, song number, year, artist, album artist, and album. I've had issues in the past which were solved by marking every one of my albums as compilations. However when I sync to my iPhone, the majority of my albums sourced from non iTunes sources are missing the small gray subtext under the album title in cover flow, and album view. I assumed this was the album artist piece of data in iTunes, but every album has this field filled out. All data between albums in the "Get Info" tab have the identical fields filled out even between ones where the subtext on my iPhone doesn't appear, and ones where it does. So any ideas on what could cause this could be helpful. Thanks

I have just bought a 1st gen iPhone and had real real real trouble setting it up to pick up my BT mail. I copied all the details straight off of my Mac Pro Mail account and all i got was the spinning wheel telling me it was connecting. However i went through the settings enabled Push, and set it to 15 miinute intervals then opened up mail and just left it alone. If that does not always work i turn the phone off and back on again and hey presto. The only other thing i am finding is that with Wi-Fi on when at home the settings seem to get confused and my Mac Pro mail app gives me a "no connection" alert, but that might be to a sync problem. I am sure i will work it all out eventually
