Problems with migration from Oracle 9.2.0.4 to 9.2.0.8

Hi,
we have 4.7 SAP's version, we tried to migrate from the Oracle's version 9.2.0.4 to the 9.2.0.8. When we tried to bootup the system, after that we succefully startup the DB, we can't startup the application with the start_sap.sh shell. The system returns this message in the log:
Connect to the database to check the database state:
R3trans: connect check finished with return code: 12

Connect to the database to verify, that the database is now open
R3trans check finished with return code: 12

did you migrate the database or just install the 9.2.0.8 software?
After database upgrade, your database and the software should have the same version:
<i><b>select version from v$instance</b></i>; (software version)
<i><b>select comp_id,version,status from dba_registry;[/</b>i] (database version)
How are the environment settings of <sid>adm?
Run please R3trans -d or R3trans -x and post the trans.log.  Could you please also check the developer traces, if there are any other errors?
Best regards

  • Problems with migrating from access to oracle

    OMWB has a few problems with upper and lower case letters, when i try to modify my old access DB OMWB cant find the new table in Oracle:
    (3011 The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object <name>. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly. )
    the problem is that it searching for AP_BILD.A990BILDER but the correct name is AP_BILD.a990Bilder
    when i recreate the table as AP_BILD.A990BILDER it worked.
    but i cant do that for almost 400 tables!
    any suggestion how to fix this?
    also have a problem when creating the trigger:
    OMWB puts the tablename into 2 double quotation marks each side (""name"") and of course it tells me something of a tablenamelength of NULL and it doesnt work
    working with release 9.2.0.1.0 of OMWB

    update: if i try to link the table from access directly it also cant find the table, but can find other tables (the others are in upper case).
    could it be a problem with the odbc driver? does it automatically look for upper case names?
    anyone know how to fix this?
    thanks in advance

  • Problems with migration from 10.1.3.4 to 11.1.1.0.2

    Hello,
    we're trying to lift up our ADF Application to 11.1.1.0.2 and face some problems.
    The first thing is a method that cannot be found anymore.
    (which i hope is a minor glitch that does not need to be discussed yet...)
    The second and significantly more disquieting problem is JDev "killing" our *.cpx binding file. (sheesh!)
    this is what it looked like in 10.1.3.4:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252' ?>
    <Application xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/application" id="client"
                 Package="" version="10.1.2.17.96" SeparateXMLFiles="false"

          --- about 50 more (cut for readability) ----
          <page id="V101MitteilungBearbeitenPanelUIModel"
                path="de.xxx.xxx.client.vorgang.forms.V101MitteilungBearbeitenPanelUIModel"/>
       </pageDefinitionUsages>

             </Parameters>
          </BC4JDataControl>
          <BC4JDataControl Configuration="WiedervorlageAppModuleLocal"

                           id="WiedervorlageAppModuleDataControl"

                           syncMode="Immediate">
             <Parameters/>
          </BC4JDataControl>
       </dataControlUsages>
    </Application>and after 11g laid its hands upon:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252' ?>
    <Application xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/application" id="client"
                 Package="" version="10.1.2.17.96" SeparateXMLFiles="false"
                 ClientType="JClient">
       <pageMap/>
       <pageDefinitionUsages/>
       <dataControlUsages/>
    </Application>the heck? its "empty"...
    Note the JDev version number "10.1.2.17.96", which indicates that our workspace had been migrated several times.
    But the lesser Versions obviously did not see the need to migrate anything - or in our case - kill our binding.
    Does anyone have a clue how to make JDev migrate our binding properly?
    Do I have to put it back by hand?

    I wasn't aware that there is a newer Version around - I just used what our Admins handed us ;-)
    But i will definately have a look on that!
    There is not really much to say about our Application.
    It's basically two programs;
    One is a batch that reads text-file-input and processes it to the database. (which we are currently working on)
    The other is a Swing based dialog which lets the clerks work on above mentioned database.
    Both programs have a lot functionality in common.
    And with tech there is not really much to say... We use an fairly old third party framework for our Swing-Surfaces.
    (Which also has a lot of ADF stuff inside... we never really got behind this - sort of a black box)
    For the rest we use standarts as JUnit, Log4J, ANT... nothing special.
    I don't exactly know what information could be useful?!

  • Problems with Migration from 4.5 to 5.0.2

    After the migration, some Studio gadgets are no longer working/displaying properly. For example, one of the gadget is used to have couple tabs to navigate. Another problem is with document directory. It gives a gateway error when trying to access a doc. Can someone help me with these issues?

  • Problems with migration from Windows to Mac

    I recently purchased a new Macbook Pro and proceeded to move my Lightroom program and catalog to the new computer.  I have 77,000 digital image files stored on an external hard drive, so I placed my catalog on the external drive to make the move to the new machine.  I plugged the hard drive into the new laptop and wasn't pleased to see that my catalog seemed to work fine.  However, when I ran the 'find missing files' command the program identified over 22,000 images that couldn't be located.  When I manually went to point the catalog to the files' locations nothing happened.  Repeating the locate missing files command produced an error saying that the image couldn't be used because it was already linked.
    I'm confused about what to do here..... about the only thing I can thing of now is to totally recreate the catalog, which would of course make me lose the work I've done for the last 9 months.
    Any suggestions?

    No Windows program will install on Macintosh (a very few products have
    both Windows and Macintosh on one disk, but not here).
    If you call Adobe you can buy a "crossgrade" for a reduced price. You
    will need to upgrade to Acrobat 9.0 at the same time.

  • Performance issue with view selection after migration from oracle to MaxDb

    Hello,
    After the migration from oracle to MaxDb we have serious performance issues with a lot of our tableview selections.
    Does anybody know about this problem and how to solve it ??
    Best regards !!!
    Gert-Jan

    Hello Gert-Jan,
    most probably you need additional indexes to get better performance.
    Using the command monitor you can identify the long running SQL statements and check the optimizer access strategy. Then you can decide which indexes might help.
    If this is about an SAP system, you can find additional information about performance analysis in SAP notes 725489 and 819641.
    SAP Hosting provides the so-called service 'MaxDB Migration Support' to help you in such cases. The service description can be found here:

    Hi Akhil,
    Looks like some Tuxedo services are using Pro*C code. Therefore, you would need to recompile your Pro*C code using the newer compiler and then rebuild the Tuxedo servers.

  • What are the Issues in Migration from oracle 8i to oracle 10g

    Hi,
    Can you let me know what are the issues that i face when i migrate from oracle 8i to oracle 10g. I will be very thankful if you give me a list of issues that you face while migrating from 8i to 10g

    In addition to Max's reply, you must be aware that you have to test your applications agains 10g database before you actually upgrade the database.
    If you use CBO, it may produce different execution plans for one query when you run it in 8i and 10g. This may affect your application performances, which you don't like to happen.
    Also you have to decide how much downtime you can afford during the migration. Can you afford some downtime and how much? If you can't than this makes the situation more complicated.
    How big is your database? You may end up only with simple export/import solution using export import utility.
    The bottom line is, whatever you decide, you must test your applications running against 10g database before you actually upgrade your database.

  • Regarding database migration from Oracle to MS SQL

    Hi All,
    In my application, the existing database is oracle. we need to migrate from Oracle db to MS SQL.
    We need procedure is as below
    1.export data from Oracle and keep it in a file.(.dmp)
    2.Import data to MS SQL from the exported oracle file.
    and vice versa from MS SQL to Oracle.
    my question is- is it possible to import .bmp (oracle export data) into MS SQL.
    Please clarify me.

    There are couple of options to get data from Oracle to MS SQL.
    The simplest is to create a linked server in MS SQL that points to Oracle and copy data with a query like select * into my_mssqlTable from oracle.schema.table; via the linked server.
    Some data types will not be supported.
    That is for one time copy.
    If you need a close to real time replication you can use MS replication (I would not recommend because it creates triggers on Oracle tables), or you can use GoldenGate or DataCurrents or other replication products.

  • Migration from oracle forms to SOA

    Hello everybody,
    I work in a company that develops a product for financial institutes. we have the product developed using oracle forms, and we want to migrate it to an SOA environnement but i have some questions that i'd be happy if someone answered to them.
    1- We want to use oracle soa suite for the migration, in this case should a client, who will buy the application, buy oracle SOA suite. if this is the case, what are the minimum components of oracle soa suite a client should buy.
    2- Can we implement a service oriented architecture without using an ESB??
    3- What steps could we follow to migrate from oracle forms to oracle SOA suite.
    thanks

    From my knowledge acquainted through White papers - This is what I think - Even I am in the process of understanding and learning SOA enablement technologies,
    Migrating from Forms world to SOA - If there is a real need to migrate the solution to latest technologies then we have to capture the forms logic to redesign in ADF of the Fusion Middleware techstack but if the business need currently works well with the forms based application and we have other system which need integration with this forms based system - You can definetly keep all the hetrogenous systems and architect using SOA to talk to each other - For this it would beneficial to use ESB and BPEL (ESB - To primarily serve as a communication medium between the hetrogenous systems and BPEL to overall orchestrate the process from end to end)
    In this way you have all the disparate systems communicating and business running smooth through a SOA based process and in the mean time you start on the reverse engineering process of all the individual systems to migrate to the latest technologies (If there is a business need for the technology shift)
    It would be really beneficial to you if you spend some time reading about the SOA and more than technology what exactly is the underlying goal of SOA and then understand what are all the various components of SOA to govern this architecture such as ESB, BPEL, BAM, Rules etc..,
    Thanks

  • Problem with implicitly created Oracle pipes

    Hi, I am having a problem with implicitly created Oracle pipes. I am not sure if this is the correct forum for this topic, but I could not see one which suited better..
    I am using Oracle pipes as a commiunication mechanism between processes (some are written in PL/SQL and other in PRO*C).
    The general problem I have is that if a timeout occurs during the communication process, I end up with 1 or perhaps 2 implicitly created pipes.
    The biggest problem for me is that I am unable to determine if a create is implicitly created (via dbms_pipe.send_message or receive_message). This causes problems, since these implicitly created pipes are left behind and not deleted. I'll show you the basic flow of the processes and you shall see my problem.
    server: create request pipe "req_pipe"
    server: listen for request on requests pipe.
    client: create two pipes for comms with server.
    client: send request and the names of the newly created pipes to the server.
    server: read request and pipename from request pipe (from this point all comms between the client and server are now done over the 2 pipes the client created).
    server: send ack message to client to ensure they are still there (since requests can be queued in the request pipe and clients could have timed out before the request is received)
    client: send "i'm still here" ack back to the server.
    server: process request and send result back to client.
    client: send ack back to server to let server know we have received the response.
    server: send ack back to client to show that work is now committed.
    OK thats the general event flow. I use the rule, that pipes created by a process are removed by a process. So the client always removes the pipes it created in all situations. But since this can happen at any point we can get in the situation:
    client: timeout occurs, delete pipes.
    server: send message to client (creates an implicit pipe) and therefor works (no errors raised)
    server: do a read for response from previous message. (implicitly creates pipe) (will fail).
    Now we have two implicitly created pipes! These pipes will exist until the database instance is shutdown, and in a poorly performing environment, we could get thousands of these pipes lying around... not a good situation.
    How can I either stop pipes being implicilty created, or how do I detect if a pipe was implicitly created.
    I have tried a couple of things, like using v$db_pipes to check if a pipe exists before doing send/reveive calls but this is FAR to slow to do a select on that view.
    We have also looked at keeping a record of pipes created by the client then have some process (perhaps the server) clean up these pipes after some time frame. This is a workable solution but is not favourable since it adds extra overhead having to check these pipes often, and created an extra level of complexity which is not required..
    Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Feel free to email me with any suggestions on my email provided below, or just post a reply to this formum..
    Many thanks,
    Karl Bridger

    Hi All,
    We are migrating from Oracle to DB2, so just wanted to know what will be the impact when we do this, i mean what all necessary steps should be taken to do so. I am a technical consultant involved in this project so not much idea regarding this.
    Also please let me know will it effect the custom i mean the Z programs that we have created. Please let me know regarding this.
    Thanks and Regards,

    > We are migrating from Oracle to DB2, so just wanted to know what will be the impact when we do this, i mean what all necessary steps should be taken to do so. I am a technical consultant involved in this project so not much idea regarding this.
    A heterogeneous migration (changing database and/or operating system) implies a certified migration consultant doing the migration, otherwise you'll loose support from SAP for problems during the migration and for the target system (http://service.sapcom/osdbmigration --> FAQ).
    > Also please let me know will it effect the custom i mean the Z programs that we have created. Please let me know regarding this.
    Depending on how you access the data you may need to increase/delete indexes or change the programs to get a better speed.

  • Changes in webservices while migrating from Oracle App Server to WebLogic

    Dear All,
    I am developing webservices for a external users.
    I am new to webservices.
    We were using Oracle Application server to deploy the webservices.
    The architecture was as mentioned below
    1) A interface class
    2) A Implementation class for the above interface class
    Now we are planning to migrate from Oracle application server to Weblogic Application server.
    I have few doubts about the migration,
    1) Will there be any difference between Oracle specific WSDL and WSDL created by Weblogic ant build command
    2) As our external parties are referring our SOAP requests ans responses for their implementation, i am concerned about the changes in the SOAP request and response formats. Will there be changes due to application server change?
    Oracle app server - Oracle 10g application server version 9.0.4.0
    Weblogic appl server - Weblogic application server version 10.3.0.0

    Now after creating the WSDL by Weblogic workshop. The previous request XML is not working.
    Can someone help soving the below query.
    We are in process of upgrading the Oracle 10g application server version 9.0.4.0 to Weblogic application server version 10.3.0.0. In the old application server we were using axis specific jars to create the WSDL for the webservices. There are so many third party applications which are accessing our webservices, so we can not change the wsdl, clients accessiong the webservices and the corresponding formats of request and response xml messages. So we need to deploy the same wsdl and for the same we need to deploy axis on to weblogic 10.3. Can you please help us regarding the same.
    Qns
    1 - If we can deploy the axis on to the Weblogic 10.3
    2 - Can we use the same WSDL in the Weblogic server too.
    3 - If we use the same WSDL, will it help us to keep the client accessing the webservices, the request xml format, response XML format the same as it is with Oracle 10g application server case.
    4 - Please share how to deploy axis on to the Weblogic 10.3 application server.
    5 - Please share how we can create EARs that can be deployed on the webserver using axis specific jars.
    Thanks and Regards
    Manoj
