Problems with mplayer (divx codec)

I'm using mplayer for divx streaming, but using the player i can't move the video forware or backware, just play and watch the entire video without the option of starting a video in other minute, or stuff like that...
What should i do to fix it?

Is this with one (or a few) specific file(s)? Sounds like a problem with the stream and/or broken index. You could try
mplayer -idx
or
mplayer -forceidx

Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 Problem with Photo JPG Codec ?

Hi everyone...
I have been working with music videos for several years using FCP 5.x and photo-jpeg codec, everything works fine. As time going by now I have updated my FCP using 6.0.3 with hopes to get better features. But unfortunately FCP 6 has problem with photo-jpeg codec. The problem is when I load a photo-jpeg video, the gamma will changes every time the playback head is start or stop. And I can't using video transition (standard cross-dissolve) anymore because the video gamma also change at the in transition and out transition. It also appear in my video monitor and output file ! I have searching all day to find out what is exactly the problem, but never get the solution. Should i come back to FCP 5.x ? Is it a BUGS or what ? What happen with Apple, why they let this happened ?
For information the video is in SD PAL & captured using Blackmagic Decklink card.

Welcome to the discussions...
I believe this has to do with using YUV or RGB as the rendering method. RT is always RGB, but try changing the setting for your timeline to whatever it is not now...

WMA problems with mplayer

Help i have just downloaded my first audio track for putting on cd and i paid for it ............
When i use mplayer as instructed so i can convert it to mp3 all i get is a 44b file no audio
The original is 5.7 Mb and plays fine on my wifes windows pc .. Damn i hated saying that
I have codecs installed and mpayer the latest i update daily.
So i type this and this is all i see. ......

I have tried several python and bash scripts but they all produce the same 44b with no audio files...
And i know its an issue with mplayer somehow.....
Oh and yes the permissions are fine and i even tried as root ...

This is hardly the most elegant solution, but do this from the command line:
ffmpeg -i {your song}.wma {your song}.mp3

There seems to be a problem with the Latest Sound-Max Drivers, I remember seeing Numerous Threads on this. I would try Finding a different Driver than the One that you currently Have installed? http://www.soundmax.com

Problems With MPEG-2 Codec

I've been having problems with Apple's MPEG-2 codec for Quicktime.
All my 640x480 movies are labeled as 720x480, and when I convert them to .mp4 with VisualHub (third party software) it stretches them to 720x480. It didn't do this before I got the codec.
Is there any way to fix this?
Alternatively, how do I uninstall the codec?

I am using the Sony HVR-Z1U camera. I have firewire connection on the camera that I have connected a Sony HVR-MRC1K memory recording unit to. The tape in camera starts the recording then the digital recording kicks on. I have to always have a tape in camera to start recording onto firewire connect digital hard drive recorder. As I mentioned in my previous post, the HVR-MRC1K records to a 32 gb compact flash high speed card and saves files as M2T files (MPEG2) I covert/transcode the files using Clip Wrap software to Quicktime .MOV files. I am them able to import them into FCP X and or iMovie. Once in FCP X the files play, but will skip or drop frames. Again there is no issue on my other mac using FCP 7. I don't even have to transcode files in Clip Wrap. They import automatically using a connected USB drive and Compact Flash Card. I really would like to use FCP X and move forward and not have to take a step backward using only FCP 7. I am in Fort Myers Florida. There is an Apple store nearby in Estero, Florida and one a little further in Naples Florida. I have only gone to the Estero Florida store. The Naples store had FCP classes only twice a week and the Estero store had none.

Frame rate problems with Apple Intermediate Codec.

Hi,
I have just upgraded to a new Mac Pro and FCE 4.1.
I went to carry on working with an existing FCE HD file. It loaded and updated fine.
When the project was played back it appeared jumpy and too fast.
I looked at the clip properties and the FPS for the project was at 32!! I'm working in 25 fps.
Its as if FCE is interpreting the movie files as 32 FPS
When the clips are played back in quicktime they are at 25 fps as normal.
The clips are AIC 1440 x 1080i.
I tried it on a new project and the same thing happened.
Other codecs like DV seem to be OK.
Has anyone had this problem before and know of a solution.
I have done all the usual disk repairs and the like. Next will be a re-install.

It's a must to use the correct setup in easy setup dialog to fit your shooted material on tape.
Here's the trail to follow if you want to edit in HD (by the way the FX1Ecan shoot in HD mode or standard definition DV- mode: wide or standard screen).
On your FX1E
-find the camera menu and set the recording format to HDV (it sould be 1080i50 as it's the HDV format used by this model).
-Set the output format to automatic or 1080i50 (this is the type of signal that will be outputed by your camcorder upon capture via firewire).
-turn off you camcorder and mac.
-Plug both devices with a firewire cable.
-turn on the FX1E AND the mac.
-Start FCE HD
In Final Cut Express HD
-Use "Easy Setup..." command in Final Cut express menu , select HD in format tab, 29.97 in rate tab and HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i50. Click "Setup" button.
-From this point, any new sequences and capture session will occur in Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i50 (the format used to edit in HDV).
-Use command-8 to open the capture window. HDV is captured via a simple dialog. There are no capture setings or log clips info.
-Start your camcorder in *VCR mode*(the play button on camcorder or on remote) and click the capture now button into FCE HD.
NOTES: there is no sound from your MAC upon capturing. There is a lag time between what is played on your cam and what you can see on your mac screen, so use the camcorder screen to monitor the content.
-Hit the "ESC" key when you want to stop the capturing process.
Once the esc key is pressed, your mac will continu to process the captured material and the capture window should close.
That's the way to capture HDV material into FCE HD.

Problems with DVCPRO HD codec QT's from a P2

I've been given rushes from a P2 camera that have been created as DVCPRO HD QT's.I believe they shot onto a fire store rather than a P2 card.
I know that this codec was licensed from panasonic to apple for FCP but not Quicktime.
My problem is that I need to get these into an Avid, and was expecting to receive MXF files.
I have FCP but version 5.1 which doesn't seem to support the codec, does anyone have any idea how I can somehow convert these files and be able to work with them?

It's a Symphony Nitris. Which has issues with P2 import as it is.
I managed to get hold of the DVCPRO codec. So I can now open the files in Quicktime and then I'm re-exporting them as uncompressed which seems to work but takes forever! I tried the Avid meridian codec but it didn't look as good.
Any better ideas much appreciated.

Problems with mplayer and the framebuffer

I am having trouble running mplayer in the framebuffer using
mplayer -vo fbdev
or
mplayer -vo fbdev2
fbdev plays sound but says that I was unable to open the requisite video device (I am in the video group). fbdev2 spits error messages to the screen, and plays no sound. Currently, I do not have access to the computer with this problem, and cannot post the error messages.
I did, however get mplayer in the framebuffer to work by installing directfb and recompiling mplayer. This time, even though I am in the video group, I am still not allowed to access directfb unless I run as root (it runs perfectly as root).
I'm sure I've missed something simple, but I cant see it. I've read through what I believe is all of the requisite documentation.

There's also the "sdl" video output to try. And mplayer and mplayer2 seem to have slightly different behaviour for me. Out of curiosity, what framebuffer driver are you using?

Problems with Installer application

Hi!
Lately I've been having problems with Installer with several packages. Some pkgs install just fine, but others fail whenever they try to run some preflight or preinstall scripts.
My mac is new MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo shipped with 10.4.8. I think these problems might have started after some late Security Updates.
I've been doing maintenance tasks prediotically as well as repaired permissions and disk in single user mode. I've also tried to copy Installer from my Tiger install DVD's but with no luck.
Either system.log, console.log nor CrashReports don't show anything. Installer's own log just announces that install failed while running presomething-scripts. But when I run these scripts manually from Terminal, they work just fine without any errors.
I'm hopeless. I wish won't have to see the day coming when I'll have to do that so well known regular windows-like format and reinstall procedure with OS X. Sadly there's several packages I need to have installed, so if reinstall is the only solution please throw some backup and restore tips at me.

The first package I noticed this problem with was DivX for Mac installer. The Installer's log pointed that installation failed while running the preflight script. The script is pretty long, but mainly just removes older version of DivX libraries and applications and when I run it from the shell, it works just fine.
I've also tried downloading it again along with another versions, but all the Installer fail at the same point. I've also tried to find some help to this problem from their forums, but it seems to me that I'm the only one having this problem.
Another package which I found failing is Missing Sync for Windows Mobile. I just ordered HTC TyTN -phone and tried to get Missing Sync working. Missing Sync itself installs correctly, but there's a application which comes bundled with MS called Mark/Space Notebook. The installer is multipackage installer and during the installation of M/S Notebook it fails while running preinstall script. The preinstall script is really simple, like this:

I haven't yet tried these packages on other Macs, but I'm positive they will work just fine. I believe that the problem must be either the Installer app, or something in my shell environment that makes it fail. Any ideas what could it be?
When searching help from this forum first to this problem I ran into post that indicated the same problem and the fix for that was recreating admin/root account. Although I am pretty familiar with *BSD and UNIX systems, I didn't quite get what was meant by that. As far as I know the root account can't be easily recreated?

Elements problem after divx codec install

hi all,
I am having an interresting problem and I am hoping someone can give me some advice.
I have been running Premiere Elements 8 for a while and a it has been working fine. a few days ago I tried to install the divx codec. Now I open Premiere Elements and it will open, load my project, then minimize and I can not get it to restore.
I have uninstalled divx but no luck.
I also did a windows system restore to a previous state but had no luck there either.
I am running Windows 7 64 Bit.
on a quad core Intel Q6700 processor
intel motherboard
8 GB of Ram
ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL) Video card
dual monitor.
I am suspecting the codec updated a driver somewhere that is causing a conflict.
I had similar problems with Photoshop elements 8 and had to disable my twain drivers to get it to work.
any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
I have used the DivX CODEC, plus the DivX Pro Encoder for years, with zero issues, until the most recent update of DivX with both its CODEC and its player. Did not update the DivX Pro Encoder.
First, these problems have not affected PrE 4.0, running on XP-Pro SP3, so there ARE many differences to your setup. With those differences, I am not at all sure that my observations will apply to your installation and your system.
The only problem that I encountered was that the DivX player seized the File Type Associations for all AVI's, so that Dbl-clicking on any, would always Open them in the DivX player. The new one is filled with ads for all sorts of things, and reminds me of the old RealPlayer from years ago. Also, those ad often lead to a dead-end, from which the only recourse is to buy whatever the ad features, or go to Task Manager and Kill the process - really, really bad move DivX. All it took was going to Control Panel>Folder Options>File Type and changing the AVI associations back to my desired player, MediaPlayer Classic HC. Fixed.
That was my only issue with any version of the DivX CODEC, or the DivX player. Still, I made note of it.
That does not mean that on your system, and with PrE 8, something in there might not have broken.
I would check the file associations in Control Panel, and reset any, that DivX Player might have changed, then test.
While you are at it, also update both your video driver and your audio driver, from their mfgr. Web site.
Good luck, and maybe others will have tips or suggestions.

Problem installing DivX codec on Nokia 500

I have a nokia 500. I'm trying to install DivX codec to play HD Video files. But when I install DivX player, I can't go to main menu. The main menu turns down.
Have anyone tried installing DivX codec or any other codec on nokia 500 to play HD Videos? Please help me. Please tell me which codec or player is fully supported by Nokia 500. I've searched a lot about players and codecs on nokia 500. But nothing found.
I need to play High Quality AVI, MP4, MPG and FLV files. Please suggest me any player that supported by nokia 500.
By the way, I'm using the latest Belle Refresh(111.021.0028) on my nokia 500.

Problem with codec!

i have problem with video with codec Xvid and format avi... when i import video to the premiere cs6 than clip not play sounds and video is faster then original..where is problem ? thanks

Xvid/Divx are output files, not meant to be edited (variations of the MPEG4 codec, often used for Internet streaming video) so, they mostly do NOT edit well (if at all) in any flavor of Premiere, even if wrapped inside an AVI container

Audio-Problem with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 by using long Clips in AVC-Intra Codec (4Gb Border)

We own a Panasonic camera (AJ-PX5000G) and we film in 1080p50 with the AVC-Intra100 Codec. When importing longer clips in Premiere Pro, the video is fully loaded, but the waveform of the sound ends at the Time Code 00:02:28:35.
Sometimes the sound could be played after this Timecode but otherwise there is no audio. Even if we use the same clip several times we see that it works sometimes and sometimes not. It looks random.
We also tried to import the Clips with Adobe Prelude directly from the P2-Card but there are the same problems.
The Clips in 1080p50 AVC-Intra100 have a bitrate of 227Mbps. After 2 Minutes and 28 Seconds 4Gb are written on the P2-Card and the Camera starts a new picture file and 4 sound files..
It looks like Adobe Premiere Pro has problems with the correct relation of the files that all get together to one clip.
Is there anybody who can confirm this problem? Can anybody help me with this Premiere Problem?

Very urgent!! Problems with the H.263 codec on JMStudio

I downloaded the JMF Version 2.1.1e ' version.
The H.263 codec doesn't work.
I noticed that the file sound.jar wasn't in the lib directory of JMF-2.1.1e.
Is for this reason I have problems with the H.263 codec??

What do you try to broadcast? H263 is a video codec, not audio..
