Problems with my new 5th generation ipod nano

I bought my ipod nano 8GB 5th generation about two months ago. I am having two problems. First, the internal speakers are giving me problems. I always plug the headphones in all the way, and they will work just fine until I barely touch the cord. Something as simple as moving my ipod or putting it in my sweatshirt pocket makes the song pause (even with hold ON) and when I push play again, the song is playing both in the headphones and the internal speakers. If I mess around with the cord again, it will automatically pause, then I push play and it works in the headphones only again (until the cord gets bumped again). I have also tried using different headphones (ipod and samsung) and the same thing happens. It is driving me crazy!! I want to be able to listen to my ipod and not worry about disturbing other people or constantly having to push play because it paused then having to mess with the cord to be able to listen to it.
My second problem is my battery charge. It was fully charged one night and I could only listen to it for two and a half hours before it died. Granted it was constantly pausing and I would have to push play and mess around with the cord, I think it should be lasting longer than that. Now I hardly ever use it because the battery charge won't last and the headphone cord is so sensitive. This is the second ipod I have ever bought and my second bad experience with them. So please if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it!
Thank You

Yikes...thats umm not right it sounds either damaged or defective and the problem is I think you only have a short period to do a return.
Now youll have to lean on warranty. Perhaps purchase the ext applecare warranty from a secondary vendor to save cash and then use it?
Either way you need to have it fixed thats def' not right.

  • My problems with my NEW 5th gen ipod :(

    Hello
I just got my ipod touch 5th gen, 1 month ago and already its freezing for sometimes up to an hour. Its saying its playing my music, but no sounds is coming out, its battery running down faster than normal/when i first got it. When i go on itunes its only coming up wired symbols, I'v connected it with my itunes account on my laptop and its made it worse . I have also tried the apple website but still no luck Help!!!
    Thanks
    Amy

What does " When i go on itunes its only coming up wired symbols," mean?
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Problems with brand new 5th generation 30GB

i recently purchased a 30GB video ipod on december 20, 2007. When i started it up this morning, it sounded like a piece was rattling around inside and then it shut itself off. Now when i try to turn it on i get the dead ipod symbol. What are my options with warranty and everything?

What does this picture on my iPod mean?
However, you should probably return it for service.
You can arrange online service here.
    Service request.
Or if an Apple store is near you, take it there and have them check your iPod. They can often exchange them on the spot.

  • 5th generation iPod nano compatibility with Linux?

I have Linux on my computer is the 5th generation iPod nano compatible with my operating system? Would i need to install a particular program to make it work.

Why not let the customer choose to use iTunes or not ?
Be able to add individual files just by copying them from any computer (any OS, with or without iTunes installed), and use a filesystem browser on the iPod to select which file to play in which directory.
Only Apple would know the answer to this. However, based on the history of the iPod, it seems unlikely that you're going to see this happen. One of the major differentiating features of the iPod is that one doesn't have to mess with a file system browser, it's all handled automatically by iTunes. Now, that's not to say that everyone is going to like players that work this way. Hence, the continuing market for other brands of players.
Please, release a new iPod firmware supporting this feature.
Again, seems very unlikely as it runs counter to the entire Apple design philosophy. However, if you want to make your feelings known to Apple (as opposed to just the fellow users who are going to be seeing this post), submit your feedback here:

    Best of luck.

  • Can the new 5th gen ipod nanos be used with iTunes 8?

I have just installed iTunes 9 today and am DISGUSTED with version 9
already. I have a new 5th gen ipod nano on order and would like to go back to
iTunes 8 ... will the new 5th generation be usable in iTunes 8?
With iTunes 9 being such a launch and introduction disaster ... I may sell my new
iPod because it looks like it will only work with iTunes 9. If that's the case I am selling my
new iPod and picking up a 4th generation ipod on eBay.
It looks to a lot of Mac users, like Apple really screwed up iTunes 9 ... and as a result,
may turn many new prospective iPod Nano and iTouch owners off from purchasing any
of the newer iPods until Apple redesigns or seriously modifies iTunes 9.

So are you just going to keep posting this in every incorrect forum?

What exactly are you finding so disgusting in iTunes 9? I have yet to find anything repugnant.
If you want to keep iTunes 8 I would suggest you buy a refurbished 4th Generation from the online iTunes Store and cancel your order for the 5th Generation.

I have a problem with the headset of my ipod nano 4th gen. the right side don't have a sound. It comes in and out.  what do I need to do.. I am using the original headset eversince. I tool it to a Apple Mac Cennter and Taked with a Service Center Rep. And he told me that they can't do anything because they don't repair the ipod they didn;t even look at it. I was told instead to buy a new one. I was very disappointed.. This is already my 5th ipod though i am planning to buy a new one.. I still want it fixed so I can give it to my little sister

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

  • I think the dock on my 5th generation ipod nano is broken. Is there a way that i could fix this?

Every time I try to connect my 5th generation ipod Nano to my computer I get a message that says that the device is unrecognizable. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling itunes and I have tried most everything else the Apple Support says to do. I checked my devices on my computer when I had the ipod connected and it said that there was some type of problem with the USB dock on my ipod. other than this I have not had any other problems with this ipod. Is there any way I can fix this without having to get anew ipod?

    - See:

    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector for bend or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • Does the 5th generation ipod nano have bluetooth capabilities?

Does the 5th generation ipod nano have blue tooth capabilities?
    Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, the fifth generation iPod nano does not have a built-in Bluetooth chip. The seventh generation iPod nano, introduced in fall 2012, is the only iPod nano as of now that does have Bluetooth built-in.

  • Can i use the same charger for a 4th generation ipod nano with a 5th generation ipod nano

    Yes.

  • How can I get my new 5th generation iPod to connect to my Wi-Fi

The Wi-fi signal shows up as strong but when I try to connect to Safari or talk to Siri, it dosen't work. When I go other places with my iPod, it connects fine. All my other electronics including a 2nd generation iPod have no problem connecting to the Wi-Fi. Also, I had a 5th generation iPod before my current one and it wouldn't connect eaither. What can I do?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
