    Sorry, but your CSS is has been mangled beyound recognition.
    The solution is to start with an untouched style sheet. Then add or modify the CSS testing in your browsers as you make the changes.
    Have a look at the following where I have positioned the menu. All that is now required is the styling for font and the hover event.

  • IE problems with vertical spry menu bar

    hi,
    first of all: I'm aware that this problem has been discussed
    before. but nothing I've found so far has really helped me.
    the problem is that my vertical spry menu bar doesn't work
    properly with the internet explorer. I've (clumsily) repositioned
    the submenu bars, but that didn't seem to be the main problem.
    I'm using dreamweaver cs3 on a mac and have checked for
    safari and firefox, in which everything works fine. I'd be very
    grateful if someone could have a look at
    www.philipbirau.com/portfolio.htm.
    unfortunatly, I have neither the skills nor the money for
    'professional' webdesign, so any hint will be appreciated. if you
    need more information, please let me know.
    thanks!

  • Help with a Spry Menu Bar

    I'm having trouble with a Spry Menu Bar not displaying
    correctly in Internet Explorer, while it displays fine in every
    other browser I have available. I've done some searching on these
    boards, but the queries I've found with the same type of problem
    each has a knowledgeable person editing the code for the
    poster...and I can't seem to make heads or tails of it.
    So, below is my link. What you'll see if viewed in Explorer
    is that the "Clinics" listing and the "Services & Specialties"
    listing are each on the same horizontal line, rather than vertical
    like the rest of the menu. If anyone can help me in correcting this
    problem, I'd be very appreciative.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    You might try removing all of the <div> tags you
    inserted in the menu.
    This can happen if you select text in design view and use the
    "align" icons
    in the properties window instead of using CSS to align
    things.
    For example:
    <li>
    <div align="left"><<****REMOVE THIS
    <a href="clinics.html"
    class="MenuBarItemSubmenu">Clinics</a>
    <ul>
    <li><a href="clinic.html">Chambers
    Clinic</a></li>
    <li><a href="clinic7.html">Scenic 7
    Clinic</a></li>
    </ul>
    </div><<*** REMOVE THIS
    </li>
    So it looks like this:
    <li><a href="clinics.html"
    class="MenuBarItemSubmenu">Clinics</a>
    <ul>
    <li><a href="clinic.html">Chambers
    Clinic</a></li>
    <li><a href="clinic7.html">Scenic 7
    Clinic</a></li>
    </ul>
    </li>
    Repeat for all the other <div align="left"> and
    </div> tags in the menu.
    Take care,

  • Help with vertical spry menu bar submenu displaying incorrectly!

    I’m new to Dreamweaver and am learning as I go. I am having a problem with the vertical spry menu bar submenu in the Live View. When I scroll over the spry menu bar option that has a submenu, the submenu appears in the upper right hand corner of my screen. (My menu bar is going down the left hand side.) However, when I preview it in Internet Explorer it looks fine after I allow the Java Script to run or the Active X controls, which my browser usually automatically blocks. (The browser just displays a small message along the top and I click on it to allow it.) To get it to do this much, I had to play around with the CSS for the spry menu bar a little bit.
    Before, when I clicked on the Live View option, a small message ran along the top in Dreamweaver saying it couldn’t find the Flash Plugin and asked me to download the most recent FlashPlayer, which I did twice. It continued to say that and then I just closed that message that kept popping up, but I think that has something to do with the problem. I then researched that problem in the Spry Framework Help and Dreamweaver Help, but couldn’t find a solution that worked. (Someone had posted a link for downloading the Flash Player for Netscape Navigator, but that didn’t seem to do anything.)
    Please also note that I am using one of Dreamweaver’s pre-built layouts. I don’t know if that makes a difference with this problem.
    How do I fix this problem so that it displays correctly in the LiveView? And will the message that I get on my browser about allowing blocked content appear on other people’s computer when they open my website?

    IE is a big problem child among browsers.  Don't use it as your default browser.
    For best results, build your site to display & perform well in the web standards browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Safari & Opera.   If it works in one, it should work pretty much the same in all of them.
    After you're satisfied with how your site looks in the good browsers, then test in IE.  If needed, add hacks or conditional comments to make IE behave.  There are many web sites that discuss known bugs in IE and how to work around them.
    Lastly, the active X nag screens only appear locally.  Once deployed on the remote server, you won't see them.
    For better answers to your layout questions, we need to see your page.  Can you post a URL?

  • Dreamweaver Help | Working with the Spry Menu Bar widget

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/spry-menu-bar-widget.html

    Adobe has discontinued further Spry development.

    You can continue using Spry but if mobile & tablets are your concern, I would use a different menu system.

  • Spry menu bar, please help

    Hi everone,
    I had to migrate from GoLive CS2 to DWCS5 a month ago, and I just put up my two site using the same template.  Sorry, I am lerning but I do not know about Code.
    Main domain is:  http://www.hydeparkgalleryllp.com/
    Sub domain is:  http://www.fumiosawafineart.com/
    Hyde Park Gallery,LLP site is working fine but my site fumiosawafineart.com has problem with spry menu bar which do not show in the web pages.
    So far, I learned without help, but this one I have no idea.
    I deeply appreciate if someone help me this issue.   Forum has been changed so much, even I am not sure I am right place... and sorry about my English.
    Fumio

    Your Spry menu bar is on http://www.fumiosawafineart.com/ but it is unstyled.
    That's because the code for styling the Spry menu in http://www.fumiosawafineart.com/ is pointing to your local hard drive (file:////Mac.... which no-one can see but you)
    <script src="file:///Macintosh HD 3/Dreamwever/HPGLLP/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="file:///Macintosh HD 3/Dreamwever/HPGLLP/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <link href="file:///Macintosh HD 3/Dreamwever/HPGLLP/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarVertical.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    Should read
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <link href="SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarVertical.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    The reason for this weird code is often because you have not defined a sitre correctly in Dreamweaver. Is that the case?

  • Spry Menu Bar Vertical Help

    Hi,
    Since the site isn’t online yet I posted my project for downloading.  I am using Dreamweaver CS4.
    For the website I am creating I would like to have a spry menu bar.  I have been trying to figure this out but I can’t do it.  The main file I am working with is named “theme_02_design.html” which is found in the Publish folder inside of In Play by Heather Ashley Inc. As you can see there is a left navigation area with 3 items listed (Home, Products, and Contact Us).  I would like to change this into a vertical spry menu bar.  Every time I try to do this the page is distorted in some way or another.  I would like the menu on the left of the screen to look the same but with the vertical spry menu bar functions.
    When someone visits the page I would like them to hover over the word products and have a submenu with multiple items.
    It would look something like this...
    Home
    Products  - submenu -  Warm Up Series (I would insert a submenu here as well)
    Contact Us                   Lace Up Hooded Sweatshirt
                                        Fleece Name Pants
                                        Shorts
                                        Accessories
                                        Shell Colors
                                        Trim Colors (I would insert a submenu here as well)
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

    I fiddled around with your file. I will attach the zip of your files.
    Take a look at your page. I commented out your original navigation and added a Vertical Spry Menu Bar.
    You will have to do some more adjusting, but I copied portions of your own CSS file into the Spry Menu Bar CSS.
    See what you can do with it.

  • Problem with Horizontal Spry Menu

    Hi,
    I have trawled through the forum to see if I can find an answer to my problem, but couldnt locate one, so this is my first post.
    I recently built this website for my wifes business and was using a simple menu bar without any dropdowns, just to get the site up and running (healingthreads.com.au). Am now looking to do some enhancements and was looking to use a Spry Horizontal Menu Bar. All was going well in that I was able to insert the menu bar and get it in the right position, however the dropdowns below the top level items (ie. Item 1.1, Item 1.2 etc) are getting hidden behind one of the other DIV's and despite trying changing z-index values, am still not able to get the dropdowns to display in front of the main DIV. Have run out of ideas and am hoping the wisdom of the forum will be able to assist. I have the same problem on the Index page as well as the other pages on the site. The website is fairly basic at the moment and is simply promoting her courses and products.
    Unfortunately am not able to post live code to a server for you to test on, so best that I can do is post the code for a page and for the CSS sheets.  I have left the standard Spry code in place in the source code to show that the problem exists without and fancy changes that I have made to the Spry code. I have also removed the z-index properties that I had been playing around with. So, what I am attaching is the basic code that has the problem.
    Hope someone can help.

    Gramps,
    Thanks for the prompt reply, greatly appreciated here in Sydney.
    Re your response. When I preview the page in both Safari and Firefox, the dropdowns are not visible, just the top layer Items.
    Dont understrand what is going on.
    Am I doing something wrong when I am previewing the file?
    RThanks,

  • 'Easy Set-up' Option - Problem with edit canvas/windows - really need help!

    Hello Everyone. . .
    Have a problem that i really need help with, i have tried so many different things to sort this - but with no sucess.
    I usually work in High Definition and i have recently done a small project for someone in DV. When changing to work in DV, i selected the DV setup from the 'Easy Setup' menu. I have now changed back to HD and there are a few things different with Final Cut that i can't shift!
    When i move a clip from the capture bin into the edit window, the clip no longer fills that window like it always used to and there are lines at the top and the bottom of the clip - almost like it is in widescreen.
    Editing like this wasn't too much of a problem, but when i came to compress and do a final render of the whole film - there was the same black lines on the top and bottom of the film.
    I can't figure out how to get the setting back to how they were, and have the clips fill the edit windows and fix the end render/compress.
    Any ideas from anyone on what i am experiancing with all this? And. . . how to fix this problem?
    Any help on all this will be very much appreciated!

  • Problems with poor wifi signal strength, need help?

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated? This is a lengthy explanation. Thanks in advance.
    I have a 3rd generation Airport Extreme wirelessly bridged to a 4th generation Time Capsule. I have noticed only mild increase in signal strength.  Surprisingly I have only 1 – 2 bars of signal strength when standing next to the bridged Airport Extreme. There are areas of the house that continue to have very weak coverage ranging from 0 – 2 bars depending on the day and others that continue to have no wifi coverage.
    The house has Cat 5 cable in all rooms. Most rooms only have a phone jack wired to the end of the Cat 5 cable but two rooms have data ports. All the wires (phone and data) run to the same junction box and are connected to, what appears to be, a simple parallel bridge.  (There are a couple unused access points on the bridge. A few years back, I ran an additional line for a phone by simply pressing the colored wire into the corresponding site and the phone works fine)
    It was suggested to plug the two routers directly into the data ports rather than have them communicate wirelessly. When doing this, I had no signal at the other end and the phone stopped working.
    What is the best way to fix the weak wifi signal problem?
    1.     Do I need to tweak my current wireless set up? (FYI, In the Airport Utility, both devices are listed and have green dots)
    2.     Do I need to buy an additional Airport Extreme to bridge to the Time Capsule to cover the current dead areas? (unless there is something I should do different in the set up, hesitant to do this, since I have only seen a marginal boost with my current bridge)
    3.     Would it be better to use the existing cat 5 cable and create a functional “hard wired” network that I can use to connect the two wireless routers? (If this is the answer, is this something relatively simple that I can do myself or should I hire a professional?)
    Thanks again.

It was typical awhile back, where you have "whole-house" Ethernet running back to a patch panel to use the cable runs for both data and phone service. This works fine as long as you only wanted 100 Mbps Ethernet (or Fast Ethernet) connections for data. Gigabit Ethernet requires all of the twisted pairs in the CAT-5 cable and cannot share any of those pairs for phone lines.
    So any wall outlet that is wired for both phone & data will not provide Gigabit Ethernet ... unless there are at least two CAT-5 cables going to that outlet. I am only mentioning this as to the potential for reduced bandwidth on some of your connections as all of your AirPort base stations are Gigabit capable.
    As far as "weak" signals, I am assuming that you have configured all of your AirPort base stations for a roaming and NOT an extended wireless network ... correct? Even if you already have, please review the following Apple Support article to make sure you didn't miss anything. Please post back your results.

  • Problem with IE Vertical Menu Bar Widths

    I currently have a Vertical Menu Bar with the width set to
    auto. IE shows all of the top-level menu items as a single
    word-wrapped line.
    When you hover over any submenu item, the border that appears
    on hover only spans the width of that submenu item's text rather
    than the width of the actual submenu.
    Is there a way to use auto widths in IE or will I just have
    to use predetermined widths?
    My URL is
    http://www.plpimports.com/
    Thanks!!

    I changed the layout so that the menu is fixed width. I think
    I like it better this way anyway.

  • Help with Spry menu bars needed please?

    Hi all
    I am brand new to this forum, so please forgive any mistakes!
    My problem is this:
    I have created a 10 page web site in DW, and created a Spry horizontal drop down menu within it. I have created all the links on all pages, and all is working fine. However - here is my question - if I want to add another page to my site (making it 11 pages) is there a way of just creating it on one page (say index.html) and then automatically updating the other 9 pages with this new page - or do I have to open every page to add my new page manually?
    Please help me out if you can.
    Many thanks and regards
    Mark

    Hans - that was exactly what I was looking fro - thank you so much.
    Have a good day
