Problems with my Z10 APN settings

Hi folks, My first post and I am hoping for inspirational help!! I have a lovely Z10 which I brought sim free in the UK. Whilst in the UK, both Vodafone and O2 worked fine with the phone. However, I am now in Kazakhstan for work and the phone just won't play :-( The APN cannot be altered (appears greyed out) and I understand that this is locked by the service provider, rather than by BB. My provider in KZ is Kcell. Now, KCell are part of the problem!! According to their Helpline, we just need to take the phone to one of their centres and they will change the sim card settings and then we can alter the APN. However, having trekked across town to the centre, we have been told that this isn't true and the APN is blocked from being changed by BB!!! So, my questions are: Is ANY of the info from Kcell correct? Is this 'lock/block' the work of BB? Does anyone know if a different network in KZ is better for BB? Anyone any ideas why my lovely Z10 is paralysed in KZ?? It works if I 'roam', but £25 a day is just unrealistic!!! Best wishes and appreciation for any guidance that could be provided. CB99

BlackBerry does not sell unlocked devices directly. Your device was originally branded to some carrier and unlocked.
Regardless, call the "mobile provider" to which you pay your monthly bill. If KCell doesn't offer BlackBerry service, then that's not an option, you've taken your device off-warranty.

    Can you assist us in a Start-up problem with the Z10's.
    I have read a lot of complains with the Z10 starting-up and then got stuck at 98% completion. No further response after that!

  • 3 problems with my Z10

    hello... I have some problems with my z10... 
     1) when connecting z10 to PC I can't access to "device memory" & "media card" ; unless turning "USB mass storage" on... And in that way only "mass memory" is available.... would anybody tell me what's wrong??
    and the second question is:
    have transferred some pics and musics to z10; but after deleting them, still some of them remained on gallery & music which can't be opened nor deleted.. It says: " The file can't be played due to an unexpected error. (2) "  or  "the file can not be deleted"
    what should I do to solve this???
    and the last one is:
    how can I transfer my SMS messages, contacts. And calendar to my PC??? (without using gmail) any software available?? Or a way to bachup

    If you are using other usb devices you should maybe disconnect them and go to Control Panel and click on Uninstall/Repair for Link or any associated drivers you see there. Also running Windows Update couldn't hurt.
    Edit: Repairing the installation should install any drivers needed. That looks like where your connection is stalling at.

  • Z10 APN settings

    I recently purchased a Z10 locked on Rogers/Fido from Amazon.. When I inserted my simcard Rogers simcard in, everything works fine but internet.. I cehcekd the apn setting and they were wrong and I am unable to change it. I asked Rogers customer care and they said they cant provide me with any assistance except for for giving me the apn settings. Is there anyway I can change the settings?

  • Problem with changing iPod's settings (iTunes problem)

    I got a brand new iPod Video 30gb, been using before that a 4th gen ipod 20gb.
    Now the problem with the itunes, i can't use it's auto-sync option since my sister is using an ipod as well .. so i need to use the "manually manage music and videos" option
    but everytime that i choose that option and try to apply it, the itunes stucks for about 2 mins, and then gives me the next error message:

  • Problem with sound input/output settings

    Hello--
    Last night, my iBook suddenly stopped playing any sounds at all: itunes, CDs, etc, won't play at all. I looked in system preferences/sound, and the computer told me that there are no input or output devices at all. What's more, the sound seems to me on permanent mute, and it won't allow me to change it at all (F4 and F5 functions just show a "mute" sign under the volume bar). Is this a problem with the software, hardware, or what? Thanks in advance for any advice,

  • Problem with commas in user settings in 4.0, WS

    There seems to be a problem returning user settings with GetUserSettings. The setting that contains a comma is being chopped.

    I believe the problem is the following:
    You have an app that calls directly into Plumtree.dll to set preferences. Those preferences may have non-alphanumeric characters, which are stored fine in the database.
    You then want to retrieve these preferences through the EDK/GDK. The issue is, when EDK/GDK encounters non-alphanumeric characters, it encodes them using %u encoding before sending them over the wire to be stored in the DB. So, the data that's stored in DB is encoded, then it's sent back over the wire to EDK/GDK, which unencodes the prefs, and gives them to the calling app.
    If the EDK/GDK encounters unencoded prefs sent over the wire, the behavior is undefined -- it's quite possible that's what you're seeing.
    Basically, the trick is to store and retrieve preferences the same way -- either store them & retrieve them via direct calls to Plumtree API, or store them and retrieve them via EDK/GDK. If you have to store the prefs via the API and retrieve them in EDK/GDK, you HAVE to encode them the same way the EDK/GDK would encode them if it stored them.
    BTW, what are the exact versions of the portal and EDK/GDK you are using?

  • Problem with reset to factory settings.

    I have a go notebook with the product number D1E89UA#ABA. I am wanting to reset this computer to factory settings but it won't let me. It has windows 8 on the computer so I click change pc settings and go down to general. Then I scroll down to where it says remove everything and reinstall windows. Then I click get started the I click next, then it says preparing. Then I click on fully clean the drive because I want it to be 100% factory settings. Then I have it plugged into the charger and click reset to reset the computer. Then every single time it says there's a problem no changes are made. Then I click check solutions to this problem and it never pops up any solutions. Please help!!

  • IPhone 6 problem with Wifi/Http Proxy settings being lost

    In Settings/Wifi, you can set up a Manual Http Proxy
    I have noticed a bug only seen on iPhone 6, where it doesn't store the Manual Http Proxy setting you enter.
    e.g. You enter a Server and a Port number. If you then press Wi-Fi in top left to exit this screen, it doesn't store your settings and the Manual settting is not there when you come back into the screen.
    This does not happen on the following devices
    iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1
    iPad Mini with iOS 7.1.2
    iPad Air with iOS 8.1
    It seems to be an iPhone 6 issue, not an iOS 8 issue, as it works in iOS 8 on other devices.
    Anyone else noticed this?
    Note: This "Manual Http Proxy" setting is used by Web Testers (such as me) when trying to use the program called Fiddler to setup access to development servers (on PC and Mac you edit the hosts file to achieve same thing)

    I 've met a similar issue.  It's about Auto proxy instead of Manual proxy in your case.
    I solved it by chose 'Forget this network'  then search that wifi, input password connect again.
    I guess the reason might be the new iPhone's network connection is restored from back-up of old iPhone?
    Anyway, reconnection solved my problem. Hope it works for you too!

  • Problems with some z10 apps

    Pls can somebody help me out with this problems?
    Some of the apps in my Z10 refused to respond or open, i have tried to restart it many times and also remove the battery and sim card toseee if it will work still not working......these problems are limited to apps that i downloaded from blackberry world, the once that came with the device(facebook, bbm, etc) are working except youtube which opens but dont play. other apps like viber, tango, bitcoin etc. wont even open, 1st i thought it was virus so i bought an antivirus from max secure still no solution. please i need help on how to get this problem solved . thx

    It could be one of the Apps you downloaded causing the issue, delete all of them, Power off then on and download only one, if that one will not work delete it power off and on again and try another, if the issue persists then it is something else.

  • Problem after problem with my Z10 - Help/Advice needed

    Hello all, last night around 11pm I checked for any new software updates for my Z10 and one came up, I click it and it downloaded fine, installed fine and asked for a reset, I clicked and off it went. Seems it took a while to load up after that, eventually when it did I had many things missing such as contacts, all the apps had moved around and some diappeared.
    After looking around the internet I decided to do a security wipe and start fresh, so went into settings etc and entered "blackberry" to start (I removed my SD card before this). Phone went off and came back with a paper shredder icon and a blue spinning icon underneath, great?.. well no because after 2 and a half hours it's still on the same thing. I looked on the internet and it's suppose to take 15mins? also isn't it suppose to say "security wipe in progress" ?
    Very confused on what to do now, any help would be appreciated greatly!

    Try to format the player. Use Fat, Fat6, or Fat32 when formatting the player NTFS is not supported.

  • T42 problem with after restore factory settings

    Hi, can enybody help my please, I am helpless....
    I was reinstalled my T42 to factory settings and update everithing with "system update" utility. I have WIN XP SP3.
    I have very big complications with wifi connection ( maybe only with WPA2). I traied reinstal all site adapter driver for 11 b/g Wireless LAM Mini PCI Adapter (new or old), use install or uninstall Think Vatage Acces Connection....problems still.
    The connections is after restart computer OK and quickly connect. But when i lost connection for little while ore try repair connection, the wifi connection ist lost a try take IP adress for long time and never taked it. Only restart can help. Sometimes i cant see any wifi networks but the LED wifi symbol light.
    Now I dont know what to do, I traied everithing. Thanks for help.

    Have you tried going back to SP2? Quite a few people have reported networking issues with SP3....

  • Strange problem with my Z10

    my Z10 stops working,
    when the language selection screen or agreement screen appears the screen changes to black,
    and the red light still flashing until the battery die,
    it happened after restoration the factory settings, I tried everything (with and without Blackberry Link), but did not show any result.

  • Problem with BB Z10

    I reside in Ontario, Canada. My blackberry was working perfectly. But, one day it just froze and never started again. I tried all the option available online. Took it to my provider they say its hardware is fine (because the light flashes for some time) i need to update software but how can i update it when it is not doing nothing? Please help i still have around 8 months to complete my contract. A quick response is highly appreciated.

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Unfortunately, since you only said you tried everything you could find online, we can't know what that is...so I risk redundancy with this advice. Nevertheless...
    Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
    With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
    Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
    Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
    It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
    Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
    Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
    The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
