Problems with N80 modem

I'm having trouble connecting to the internet using the modem on my N80.
The problem is that the AT+CNMI command is returning an ERROR.
Does anyone know if there is an upgrade available to correct this.
Thanks
Chaz

Intresting....
Among my searching tonight I discovered Nokia released an updated firmware for the 6270 that fixed the response to the AT+CNMI command....
Being the 6280 is almost the same and S40 I guess this is a nokia issue which should be fixed by them.... Also as the N80 seems to have the same issue I would call this a little more than a coincidence....

  • 3000 J - Problem with Internal Modem

    Hello,
I still live in the 90's and use dial-up service to access the internet.  My computer isn't recognizing (or there is a problem with) my modem.  I receive "Error 797" when trying to dial-up as I usually do.
The modem is HSF2014 56K Data Fax Modem.  Is there a way to obtain the driver software from Lenovo on CD-ROM, so I can try reinstalling?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi again,
It's difficult for me to offer anymore than generalized advice but I'll try to be helpful.
I'd start by removing the existing modem and restarting the computer.  One of the error messages mentioned PCI Slot 1.  This is probably the modem.  If ALL the error messages go away it's a pretty good indication that the modem is the problem and replacement is in order.  I would attempt simply re-seating the modem in it's slot first however and restarting.
I'm pretty sure that the proper drivers would be found automatically for the existing modem.  If not, there's a rather generalized Readme file and a program called HXFSetup.exe which is probably the program you would need to run if required.
While you're in the computer, disconnecting and reconnecting things might be better than just a visual inspection.  Twisting the cooling fan housing on the  CPU with moderate force shouldn't hurt anything and who knows?
If it turns out that the modem is the problem (which I doubt), installing the other modem shouldn't be a problem, assuming it fits and you have the drivers for it.  Again, good luck.
    Jim
P.S.  If you haven't already done so, Google all the error messages and see if there seems to be any common element.  There are diagnostic programs available on the web but I've never found one that helped me with a trouble, perhaps someone has and can make a recommendation.

Hi...I having the following problem with my Powerbook G4 1Ghz Titatium. Hope you can give a hand.
I am trying to conect to the internet with dail-up but the System Profiler utility says that "Modem Driver Not Found". I went into Network Preferences, and into Network Port configurations and the option of "Internal Modem" simply does not appear. What can I do?. I have been trying to find any installer for the modem but no lucky so far (I have the OS 10.3.9). I can imagine that the drivers were deleted.
Any help will be highly appreciated. Greetings from Mexico.

  • Problem with USB modem

I have just bought a macbook with mac os X tiger. I have a problem with network configuration when I'd like to setup my broadband. I'm now using Tiscali broadband which supplied me a USB modem (Sagem Fast 800). I've already installed the software and driver. The problem appeared when I tried to configured the network setting. I couldn't find "external modem" or "ethernet adaptor" as the manual suggests. As a result, I couldn't make any interent connection. It'd be so grateful if anyone who's using tiscali broadband can kindly give me the solution for this.

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I've looked in the network port configurations and found "Airport", "Bluetooth", "Biult-in Ethernet" and "Built-in Firewire". All of these are checked but I can't see the "external modem" port. I also rebooted the conputer after installing the software and driver. There is a software "ADSL Monitor" shown up in my desktop but can't see the device in the network configurations.

  • Faxing problems with internal modem in iBook

I have been trying to use Apples built in faxing capabilities. I use a cable connection over wireless airport to connect to the internet. Through reading in these forums I found out that you need to be hooked up through a phone line to fax—makes sense.
I am trying to do that now but encountering problems. Here's what's happening—can anyone help me out?
-faxing from Microsoft Word using "fax pdf".
-My I book G4 is connected to a phone line and connected to my wireless network via airport.
-computer appears to send fax successfully from the application but doesn't actually fax.
-i check it in the fax list, double click my internal modem window and it opens the job window for the modem. My job is still there, holding. When I click "resume" I hear a dial tone and it appears to try to be faxing. But suddenly a busy signal gets in the way and it puts the fax on hold. This keeps happening over and over again.
-I realize that maybe the line I'm faxing to is busy, but I'm also wondering if it has anything to do with my modem not being set up correctly. when I go into system preferences>network>network status there is a red icon next to internal modem and it says "Internal Modem is not set up".
My question is--how to I get my internal modem to be "set up"? In the old days I used to have my dial up info in there in TCP/IP but I don't have that service anymore. I was under the impression that you could fax just using the laptop's internal modem hooked up to a phone line and you didn't need any provider service..is this true or not?
In the "printing and faxing" system preferences window I have my phone number in there.
Can anyone help me figure this out? I'm not sure if I need any information in the internal modem set up panel and what that would be. Can't I just fax by simply having a phone line and a phone #?
    Thanks!

ebonyhack, Welcome to the discussion area!
Have you tried disabling the option to wait for dial tone?
You may have to add some commas (',') to the front of your ISP's phone number to delay the dialing. A comma causes a delay of 1 second.

  • TS3798 I can't get wifi on my iphone even though my desktop computer can get the internet.  I thought it was a problem with the modem so I got a new one ...but still the same problem (my computer gets internet but my iPhone cannot get wifi from it).  PLEA

I was always able to get WiFi on my iPhone through my home computer.  Then all of a sudden it went out (uses 3G network instead of WiFi).  Sometimes it would connect back to WiFi for a few seconds then back to 3G.  I then decided it was the modem so I got a new modem.   Well, I have no problem getting internet on my home computer but cannot still get WiFi on my iPhone from my computer.  What do I need to do - HELP!!

    Thank you again.
Yes, it worked. First, I just replaced the all info. as before,  the router IP also (Stupid) , not success.
So, I created the new network, then, the Router IP automatically showed up .
I think the old setting still there under my Airport station (so, 2 setting right now)?
Anyway, my iPad and iPod touch works well with the new wi-fi network.
    Thank you very much.
I got this Airport Extreme from a friend who wen to Time Capsule, still have the box and serial No. but will not work for Apple Phone support.
I appreciate for your fast help.

  • Power management problem with USB modem

I now use a MS-6743 (i865G) board. My previous board was MS-6533, it did not have USB v2.0.
The problem is my Aztech (originally Smartlink) USB modem prevents the system going into standby mode but this should be a USB 2.0 issue because I'm using the same driver for the modem like previous mainboard config. I could go into standby mode flawlessly with my old board.
Furthermore I'm using USB keyboard, mouse but no power management property dialog box appear for those devices. So I'm pretty sure the problem is because of USB 2.0. Is there a way to come around this issue? Thanks in advance...

  • Problems with N80

I've been having trouble with my Nokia N80 since my last update. I keep having to resave and set my GPRS Wap and MMS settings from my service provider to get online or send mms.
Also, I don't have anything in my Application Manager. When I click on it it shows my background with the battery and signal strength then goes back to my front page.
And finally, I can't get my Nokia Updater to work either - it said something about not being able to connect to NOL server.
I have a sim free N80, version v40632038 my service provider is O2 (genie sim).
Can anyone help? I'm at my wits end with all this. I've been checking the forums for a while but noone seems to have answered these problems.
    Thank you.

I'm okay with bluetooth at the moment - I use iSync on the Mac which seems to work okay. File transfer over bluetooth also seem to work okay - just tested with a couple of mp3s. However, I need to use USB for large quantities of data (music, photos, etc) and it doesn't seem to work. I have tried it on both a mac and a pc with the same issue each time.
The symptoms I have are exactly the same as you sysinit - if I touch the device then it seems to disconnect and reconnect rapidly. Unfortunately, even if I leave the device completely untouched and try to transfer 100MB of data, invariably it only gets halfway before conking out!
Most of the other software issues I can deal with (I had a Sony Ericsson P900 before this which had its fair share of problems!), but this to me is a showstopper. If there is no fix for the problem then the handset is going back as the problem is so easy to reproduce.

  • WRT54G V6 strange problem with cable modem

I have a cable modem with Comcast Digital Voice. I have a WRT54G V6 with the latest firmware. After much discussion and troubleshooting on the phone with Linksys rep, I returned and swapped the router. No change to the problem. I've seen similar issues, but not exactly the same one, on this board. Here's the situation:
I have an XP computer connected via Ethernet directly to the router. I have 1 Mac Laptop (OSX) and 1 Thinkpad (XP) laptop that use the home network interimly via wireless. I use WEP, but no special filtering.
I can get everything set up fine, and all will work for some time. Like I've seen some other's say, about 30 - 90 minutes worth of online time, and the router seems to hang - BOTH wirless and wired. During this time, my wireless signal does not drop out. But I sudddenly cannot get to the internet.
What makes it especially odd is that my digital voice (VoIP) does NOT drop out, meaning my internet connection is still up (and the cable modem shows no signs of trouble - and a reset of the cable modem makes no difference by itself.
The only thing that fixes the situation is a hard restart of the router (meaning unplugging it and then plugging it back in).
The Linksys help folks had me do a complet reset of everything and then even had me change some parameters, including a change of channel, manual MTU, etc. Nada.... Then I changed the router to a new one... Same-o same-o.
I suppose the Cable Modem could have a bad ethernet port -but I read SO many things similar to this problem on the board that I doubt it.
And to think I dumped my NetGear!!! (It also had problems - that were associated with unstable wireless).
Any help is appreciated. It's a real pain.

One other thing... When it drops out, I cannot even get to the router admin page via my web browser and wired connection to the router. So perhaps this has something to do with DHCP server dieing?

  • Can't connect to internet..self assigned ip address problem with DSL Modem

I've run into this before, without resolution, and now again on a friend's iMac. Time to ask around...
Basically, everything appears to be assigned and configured perfectly, but the network status always shows, "...you have a self assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet". Sure can't connect to the net when it says that.
I've gone thru the procedure advise before that details the sequence of events needed to insure the modem resets and recognizes the Mac and it's incoming DSL (sbcglobal) signal. The order of network priority is set properly by dragging built in ethernet to the top of the list. Modem was powered down, plugged in, and then connected to the Mac, but no solution. Any ideas? thanks

This continues to be a mystery. I've had my powerbook on several networks, and connection has, most of the time, been an automatic process. Additionally, I've installed new systems for people with the same isp, and all has been well. So easy is the process, it's never been an issue. However, following explicit procedural instructions (including powering the Mac down), has proven unsuccessful on 2 different occasions.
There is little help with the isp support in India, which is where the call routes too.
The only thing I have not done is to swap out the cable at one of the locations, but the other location, which has the same issue, works fine on the iMac there. Only when I connect my Powerbook to the modem, does the "...self assigned ip address...not be able to connect to the internet" appear.
I just keep thinking there has got to be a small detail that is being overlooked.
