Problems with new Zen firmware. Device keeps hang

Hi,
I currently am facing some problems with my zen. I have used the zen for 2 mths without problems. When I recently updated the firmware, my zen keeps hanging and it turns on with dim lighting. It is unable to turn on or off and i need to do a reset in order for it to work. Can someone help? My battery keeps draining out while I sleep.

Hi,I have upgraded? my firmware again and the problem seems to have stopped. However, there is a problem with viewing xvid files now. I have compress the files to 320x240 and copied them into the player and it was playing fine. After I upgraded the firmware, I get an error that the format is not supported??

Problems with new Zen

I don't know if this is what the player is supposed to do or it's a real problem. . I've noticed that when ever i turn the player off by holding down the slider button, the screen flickers a little from:-Now playing screen with "shutting down" box-Blank screen with "shutting down" box and battery icon-Then it does this weird horror movie-like flicker from a few different screens before shutting down. 2. Also during start up, there are always these blank white screens before and after the Creative logo. There is also a few times where the creative logo will flash a second time after the second white screen, but it's all striated with white lines. It goes through the rest of the start up process fine though 3. Also, sometimes when i plug it into a computer (one without any zen software) to charge, it would just have a white screen and nothing else. I try turning it on and off, but nothing happens. It still charges though. I haven't tried plugging the Zen into a compiter with the Zen software because my computer is out for repairs. The player still plays music, starts up, shuts down, and charges but i fear these little problems would turn into something bigger. Is this just a problem with the firmware Thanks

Hi there... I also encountered those problems you were talking about. the white flash before and after the unit completely turns on or off...i believe that the white flash is a characteristic of that model...i tried to eliminate it through firmware upgrade but nothing happens... i suggest that you get the latest firmware version(see the fixes)?and update your unit to prevent future problems.

No problem with new Zen 1

I know this will not help anyone with problems, but here is my feedback. I've had a few Jukeboxes, and have a Zen Vision W. The Zen 6GB was installed without a problem, but something in my system glitched a firmware upgrade, the Zen hung up while rebooting. I went into recovery mode and reloaded the upgrade without problems. I loaded my music library, and everything works fine. I loaded an?8GB SD memory with albums, which works just fine for me, I don't need the extras integrated into the Zen library. After using the unit a couple of days, I came to the conclusion that this unit is the best music player out of all I've had. The minimal buttons let me do everything I need, the buttons work better than the Zen V Plus I had. This units features and functions work great, and the extra SD cards?are a great plus. In the future, I hope Creative keeps this "form and Fit" for the Zen, it's great!?

I have to agree. I think this is a great direction creative is going. I have a Zen PMC, Vision M, and 32gb Zen and it amazes me how much they have evolved their players. I used to think there was nothing that could part me from my Vision M, and then my wife bought me the 32gb Zen for Christmas. Now my poor Vision M is collecting dust on my desk. I have so much fun showing it off to everyone who will let me. It's just amazing that you can get so much media in such a small wonderful package. I really love messing with friends who followed the heard and bought one of those other players. The features of the Zen, as well as the size and weight, make them so jealous. Creative really needs to advertise their products better. Let's get some TV ads. Creative let people know your out there and you're better than Pear, or Plum, or whatever fruit they call themselves.

Problem with new zen mi

I just got a 6GB zen micro and it works fine. i put abunch of music onto it via creative mediasource organizer, but when i go to listen to the music on my micro i get an unsupported audio error, even though all of the music files on my computer are in WMA format, or at least thats what all of my media players say. i re-installed the firmware version ..0. any ideas on why the music wont play?

Lossless formats don't remove necessary data to compress the file. They typically achieve about a 50% reduction in file size. For general information on lossless compression see Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lossless
For those who want audio that is the same quality as the original source e.g. CD, then they may be desired. But you fill your player up very quickly, so it's the usual compromise of quality vs. disk space.

I also have tried many other options and procedures, but each time the playlist that ends up on the player has only a few of the songs that I put on the play list. all the songs do exist on the player, but seems to randomly select only a small subset of the songs - example: 6 original, 2 get on the list, 30 on teh original, 6 get on the player's play list.
The odd part is if I go back to the player at some later time and connect via creative central, the correct playlist displays on the PC. However, is still wrong (truncated) on the player. So it seems to remember the correct play list, but just does not display correctly on the player.

?After many attempts? (like 6) with creative support to convince them this was a software bug, the end state response was to send the player back. Using better judgement, I waited for a new software release and indeed the problem was fixed in a subsequent release of the software.
My main frustration here was they seem to not want to escalate problems quickly to the right level of technical support that actually understands the software/debugging? vs hardware? and can look through a set of debugging steps and tests I sent in the first notes and realize it is not something hardware related. Even after citing my degrees in computer science/electrical engineering and having designed/debugged systems much more complex than this, all I got was simple procedural steps to repeat or send it back, it is a hardware problem. Ug!

VERY BIG PROBLEMS WITH MY ZEN MICRO AND MEDIASOURCE! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME! PLEASE RESPOND

Ok so a while back I had to give up my computer because it wasn't working.
I thought that with my new computer I'd be able to transfer all of my music from my zen micro onto my new computer.
Now my new computer is set up and I have installed creative mediasource and everything. I started to transfer my music from my zen onto my computer. My first 2 songs transfered successfully onto my computer. On the third song, I get this message:
"Unable to read file, file may be in use, missing, or corrupted."
I thought that maybe it was just that one song so I shrugged it off. But then it says the same thing for every single other song that i have! Only my first 2 songs out of my entire music library on my zen will transfer!!!
Please i really need your help!!!
And say that there is no hope in getting the rest of my songs to transfer and i have to download 094 songs from limewire? I'll surely be arrested for downloading that much! What should i do if i must download all of them?
And one more problem with my zen: Some of my Jump Little Children songs are doing something weird. The song will be fine and then a clip from another song will play during it! And then press next and it just keeps playing all of my Jump songs in order even though my player is on shuffle and they do the same thing with the clip from another song interupting it. Whats going on?
Most importantly though, i really need the questions answered about transfering from my zen to my computer because i'll be getting a new player soon. But this is my entire music library at stake!! PLEASE RESPOND!!!

Problem with my zen vision:m 30

hello, i have a problem with my zen. I've reload my zen all the night (with a special chager), i can't turn it on, when i connect it to my pc, there is a light blue, but my pc dont detect it, there is a "!" yellow in the periph settings... I have recovery 2 times, after that it work some minutes, but i cant put music or photos in my zen, the software and my pc dont detect it, i have xp pro sp2, windows media player . I cant recovery the zen with the special tools because it isnt detect by my pc... Thanks for ur help

The first step is to do a cleanup >reboot on the player if that don't work? then while connected uninstall thru Device Manager,reboot computer then plugin to have Windows find & reinstall the player, if that? doesn't work then format,cleanup>reboot player to see if that solves the problem. loosing files is a last resort . Whatever you do DO NOT choose RELOAD FIRMWARE as you don't have recognition from the computer & can not reload it. PROBLEMS with the zen sto

so the first problem with my zen stone i found was that no matter how much music i had on it, it would only play certain songs. for example, if i have 200 songs on it, it only plays abou 30 of them over and over....i tried using the online manual but that was NO HELP, it makes no sense when it tries to describe how to organize music/folders.
now i have another problem...my stone WONT PLAY MUSIC. i open the folder and click and drag files from itunes(like i did before) into the folder, and it loads them. as soon as i disconnect my player and hold down the play button to play, it blinks 3 times and nothing happens, and everytime i hit play after that it does the same thing..
please helP!

I can't see why this matters because the problems are located at the player itself, I've got no
problems with moving files to the player or any problems with connecting the player with the computer,
I'm experiencing a lot of freezups of the firmware of the player, harddisk keeps running, it does that
till the battery is low or till I push reset, sometimes this doesn't help at all, the operating system at
the harddri've gets somehow damaged by the instability of the filesystem, reflashing the firmware helps
the. Problems appear to be a software problem with the firmware, the player went away for repairs once,
with this problem, they have checked the harddisk, harddisk was fine but the os crapped up it's self
somehow, know this because I asked them to tell me every thing what was wrong and how they solved this,
asked them also how I could fix the player myself? if it was no hardware problem.
They told me to reflash the firmware and format the dri've from the service mode out.

Problems with my Zen V P

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could help me sort out a problem with the Zen V Plus that I bought a couple of months ago. Today the battery ran out so I plugged it into my laptop and left it to charge. After?a few hours I checked how it was going, and it was nearly full, so I decided to leave it for a bit longer so it could top?up completely. However, when I came to stop the charging, I discovered that the device no longer responds to any button that I press. Also, it isn't detected by my computer when its plugged in. I have charged it'sbefore with no problems.

firstly connect your pleyer to pc
then press the reset button and hold it
while holding the reset button turn it on by using the power swich [Image]
then your player will turn on

New Zen Firmware Prob

I got my New Zen today and I played it for two hours.Now I got a very problem. It appeared Firmware problem. I can not turn it off and everything does not work even I reset it. I try to use new firmare but I can not do anything because the firmware problem made New Zen dead.How can I do for this problem It's very sad that I just got a New Zen.

Then you might have a serious problem, because the install should just take a few seconds and a partially installed firmware can break the player.

No, that's the end of the line.
This has been the pattern of Creative in the past. Release a bunch of new firmwares in the first several months, then stop. There hasn't been new firmware since February.
So much for SD integration and a proper resume function.

I'm trying to install the software included with creative Zen V Plus but it is not possible - it stops at 63%
I get this following error:
"CTIntrfu.dll can not be installed"
"DoInstall fails to launch E:\PDE\CTXInst\Setup.inx"
I'm using "Windows XP 2002 home edition - serivce pack 2"

Hey Guys,Here is a link to instructions on how How to obtain and to install USB 2.0 drivers in Windows XP Service Pack . http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q329632?Win2000 and later have the capability to support USB 2.0, but USB 2.0 was released after XP was release, so there weren't any drivers installed before Windows XP service pack 2. Make sure you've installed all your windows updates including service pack 2. You can check if you have SP2 by right-clicking on my computer and choosing "properties", it will say on the general tab. Also the way to tell if you have USB 2.0 drivers installed is to right-click on my choose "Manage", then choose "device manager" look down to "uni'versal serial Bus controllers" and click on the + . This will expand the USB devices. Look for the word "enchanced" (USB enhanced host controller). If you see it, then you have USB 2.0 support. If not, use the link above and get the drivers. I have 64 bit windows 7 and CS4 Production Premium. I have a problem with Premiere Pro CS4, it keeps freezing and Crashing. A simple thing like leaving the project idle for about 15 minutes, you come back and find that it has frozen. Problems with my Zen Touch

Tracks seem to be jumping a bit so i did a reset and clean up, however after it started rebuilding library, a firmware problem is popping up and i've have no clue how to solve it. Resetting it just brings me right back and I can't get it to the menu for reboot/ format. Please help !

I'm having the same problem with my Zen Touch. When I press Play/Pause, it will sometimes work correctly, other times it acts as if I had pressed Previous. When it does this, it sometimes jumps to the start of the current track, sometimes to a different track. This is the most common problem, but I have also had it act as if I had hit Random. I have tried loading the latest firmware, but this had no effect on the problem. Thanks.

At first I thought it might be because I was using simultaneously my old iPhone 4S so it somehow realized the emails where being pushed to another device and the it marked as read, this has nothing to do since I have deleted the email account from the iPhone 4S
