Now that I've updated to 7.41 my computer is telling me that it cannot access my library because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. What gives?

YEAH! When I click on iTunes, A pop up says "The iTunes Library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file." ?!?!
What happend?!

  • HT1923 Trouble with newest version of iTunes not updating properly

I tried updating to the newest version of iTunes because I received the Apple Software Update for it.  It wouldn't install properly, so I manually installed the newest version.  When I tried to open iTunes I received an error message: "APSDaemon.exe - System Error; MSVCR80.dll not found, try reinstalling the software".  So I clicked okay and received an error message the iTunes was not installed properly, try reinstalling.  Then I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, but received the same error messages about 2/3 of the way through reinstalling.  Now iTunes won't install at all.  I went to the support page and got the instructions for removing and reinstalling iTunes on Windows 7, but I can't finish the removing steps because Apple Mobile Device Support will not uninstall at all.  My husband is having the same issue on his computer.  Is this a known issue with the new version of iTunes for windows?  How do we fix it now?  We really need iTunes on the computers to sync with our phones, iPod, and iPad.  Any help would be appreciated...should I contact apple support directly?

Update - I was able to finally uninstall the Apple Mobile Device Support component and the rest of the components. I was not able to delete the common files/Apple folder when checking to make sure all the components were removed; however, I think that is because I have an Apple AirPort WiFi Device.  Anyway, the newest version of iTunes did install on my computer after following these instructions. So I believe my issue is resolved. We will see...

  • IPod touch will not sync error message 13019 even with newest version of itunes

hello yesterday I was having trouble with syncing and the error message 13019 popped up. I was told that by updating itunes to the newest version would solve the problem. My itunes has been updated but when I try to drag any music to "iPod touch" under devices the error messege pops up again. I have an older version of the ipod touch and it asks me to update it to 4.2? I believe thats the newest version. When I try to update that it says there are things on my iPod that will be lost if I don't sync it but it doesn't allow me to sync my ipod! Thank you for any help.

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPOd to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.

  • Problems with Old version of iTunes!!!

After finding out that my AOpen DVD drive is not compatible with ITunes version 6, I downloaded version 5 from oldapps.com. When I try to play a song or burn a cd, it tells me that my computer is not authorized. After authorizing it, a message says: "This item (song) requires a later version of ITunes to purchase". Of course I've alreay purchased these songs and simply want to play or burn them. Also, I have not authorized my songs on any computer but mine. Is there anyway to play and burn songs I've recently downloaded using an old version?

DON'T UPGRADE!!! If you have seen any of the discussions regarding 7.5, and there are too many to count, you will know why. I avoided upgrading, the whole "if it isn't broke" theory, until I tried purchasing some new music and I was prompted that I had to upgrade in order to get the new music. I upgraded and now I can't burn the music I purchased. Trying to burn causes my computer to "crash". I've spent countless hours trying to figure this out, and frankly I'm afraid to connect my iPod for fear of what will happen to that. Read through some of the discussions regarding 7.5, I think you'll choose not to upgrade.

This doesn't make sense. Your statement "even though it's showing its connected" means that iTunes does see the iPad. Or am I misreading what you are saying?

  • Strange Playlist appeared with newest version of iTunes

I just updated to the new version of iTunes. And now I have a blue playlist named "J's Limewire Tunes". has anyone else experienced this, and do you think that someone has "hacked" iTunes on my computer. I tried deleted the playlist, but that has not worked. Thanks for all the help
    Matt

You are seeing someone's (J's) shared playlist. If you do not want to see it, open iTunes Preferences, click on Sharing, and uncheck "Look for shared music".

  • Problems with latest version of iTunes

When I launched iTunes last night, I was prompted to download the new version. Now, when I attach my iPod(60GB Video), its not recognized by iTunes, but is recognized as a storage device by Windows.
I tried to download iTunes again and reinstall, but received an error message.
    HELP!

Unfortunately, there is no one ‘Silver Bullet’ answer for this issue. Many things can contribute to the problem. Here are various ‘generic’ solutions that you can try in an effort to correct your problem. One should work. These are listed in simplest to more involved order (usually).
First, make sure that the iPod is fully charged.
Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.
Try closing and re-starting iTunes. There have been cases where iTunes refuses to see an iPod, but after re-starting, it works again.
Also try re-booting the entire computer. Especially if the PC has been operating for a long time &/or many programs have been opened and closed, repeatedly.
Other USB connected peripherals may be the cause as well. Try removing all connected USB items and attaching the iPod. If you have a USB keyboard, it may be worth a try using the adapter to convert it to non-USB. If the iPod connects, continue plugging things back in until you have the problem return. You may have then isolated the issue. Sometimes it could be a printer, camera, Flash Card reader, or other attached device causing a conflict.
If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC
If that doesn't work, Put Your iPod into Disk Mode then plug it in and you should be able to Restore the iPod
Your PC may have difficulty with the USB2 protocol and the iPod. See this Article for a possible solution: iPod not Recognized Correctly
Also try these hints (and the other suggestions above) from any other USB port you may have on the PC. Sometimes switching USB ports can make all the difference.
Try using another PC if you have access to one. Even a Mac may help. Try Restoring it on the other computer and moving it back to yours.

  • Install problems with  newest version of Mirgation Workbench

I have installed migration workbench both in its own home and in a 9.2 home. In both cases the workbench won't start (no error message). I have checked the omwb bat file and it points correctly to an existing JRE 1.3.1 on C:drive This behaviour is consistent on 3 different machines. I have refreshed the JRE 1.3.1 with still no luck. Can anyone help. Oracle version is 9i release 2 on Windows 2000 and both server and workbench are on the same machine

    Peter,
We have not received many problems similar to the one you are describing. The workbench creates an error file in Workbench_ORACLE_HOME\Omwb\log\Error.log . This file may contain more information, please send the contents on. It is also possible to start the workbench using 'java' from the JDK instead of 'JRE', which gives better error reporting.
Have you worked around the problem?
Are the tips suggested above of use to you?
The latest workbench is available from by download from OTN.

  • Cannot sync ipod with itunes after setting up new computer with newest version of itunes

Cannot sync ipod with itunes after setting up on new computer, only songs which tansferred were songs bought on new computer after set up, tried to sync songs and it deleted old songs from ipod.  How can I get them back on ipod??  They are showing in music library on itunes still.

If the iPod database gets corrupted, it will add files to "Other" instead of where they really belong.
Restoring the iPod will erase this database and recreate it.
And if I do this, won't I just have the same issue when my iPod is re-updated to the most recent version again?
No, it shouldn't. This is why you Restore the iPod. It erases the corrupt database.

  • I'm unable to install the newest version of itunes on my pc, the promt says that there is a problem with the windows installer package, but I have downloaded the exe more than once. Is anyone able to help?

I'm unable to install the newest version of itunes on my pc, the promt says that there is a problem with the windows installer package, but I have downloaded the exe more than once. Is anyone able to help?

Yes, I had found a similar solution also.  I'm running XP Pro, SP3.  I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair.  Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess.  Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes.  Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing.  I haven't begun to work on that.

  • When I clicked on the Newest version of itunes something happened and now when I try to access the itunes store I get an error (-32-12) and it says to check my conectivity.  I have three ipods and the problem is with the on line connection with itunes.

After I clicked and downloaded the newest version of itunes I no longer am able to connect with the store. I get an error (-32-12) and it says to check the connectivity. The problem is with the on line connection. I attempted to reload itunes , still the same problem exists.

    ... and that's a new one that I wasn't expecting ...
Okay ... lets try a complete uninstall/reinstall as per the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • What is the problem with the newest version of iTunes (Failed to install - error 7

What is the problem with the newest version of iTunes (Failed to install - error 7 & missing MSVCR80.dll) - the DLL is not missing.  tgried to install today and it failed - what a waste.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall go to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • I am trying to install the newest version of Itunes and it fails with the message "Program cannot start MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling program to fix this program.I have tried reinstalling several times but get same results

I am trying to install the newest version of Itunes and each time I repeatedly get the message "Program cannot start MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer Try reinstalling to fix this problem". I have tried reinstalling several times and I get the same message . Any ideas? I am most appreciative. I am using Windows 7.

    Hi 49balf,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend removing and reinstalling iTunes using these steps:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
You can find the article with these steps and more information here:
