Problems with PPTP VPN server authentication - Could not retrieve key agent account information
Errr so far switching to a mac based server has been a mess. I have had it with permission issues!!
Here is my latest problem. After rebuilding the server several times my VPN clients can't connect. Every other time it has been fine but for some reason its just not working. I did recreate the vpn from a back up. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. Anyway below is the error I am getting. Anyone have any idea what is causing it? You have all already been so helpful. Thank you very much!

Thank you for your help John. Before I could even employ your suggestion the server crashed. I don't understand why I am constantly dealing with these issues. I cloned the install to a new HDD and then did a reinstall. That fixed VPN, so far so good. But talk to me next week, something else will happen I'm sure.

I've got a similar problem. iTunes v10.2 worked fine, but when I tried to update it to 10.5 I got a 'Bonjour' error. I eventually solved that but I still couldn't upgrade to 10.5, so I deleted every single Apple, Quicktime, iTunes, etc file on my PC using Revo Unistaller (because the normal Windows Add/Delete programs wouldn't work) but now, when I install the latest iTunes version from scratch (on XP SP3), it says: "the installer encountered errors before it could be configured.... your system has not been modified"

From apple say even a year has not passed it is not under garancy and I should pay to fix it without ans issue.

Problems setting up an OD Replica (Could not retrieve HOST GUID for parent)
I have two computers running Mac OS Lion Server. The first started out as an OD Master and I wanted to migrate that over to the other. Here is the process I took:
Initial: 'A' is master, 'B' is unlinked.
1) set 'B' as replica of 'A'
2) set 'A' as master.
3) set 'B' as replica of 'A'.
Steps 1 and 2 went through fine, but 3 failed. I then made 'A' standalone and tried to re-bind it as a replica with no avail.
after investigation, i saw some errors in 'B's logs and decided to just nuke it and create a clean master. This went through without a problem, but I'm still getting errors trying to join 'B' as a replica. I dont see any errors in 'B' that would show any problems. in 'A' i see the following error in the slapdconfig.log:
FATAL : Could not retrieve HOST GUID for parent
I have not found any information on the internet for that error and i have not found any other errors on 'A' that would hint at why i cannot make it a replica.
Anyone have any ideas on what I might be able to try?I too have this error in setting up a 10.8 OD replica. Did you ever find a solution

Follow these steps to resolve your issue for iPads
Troubleshooting time is about 30 minutes - 1 hour
Step 1
Unplug the usb 2.0 cord from the 27 in iMac and iPad 2 64 GB (or what ever version you have) Power down the iPad
Step 2
Select your HD (Hard Drive) ( I did this form my desk top)
Next select the applications folder, Next right click the iTunes icon and select show package contents, select Contents.
1. Next select info.plist, right click and select move to trash (A message should appear Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this)(Enter your password) Select ok, (This moves the file to the trash).
2. Next select pkginfo, right click and select move to trash. (A message should appear Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this)(Enter your password) Select ok, (This moves the file to the trash).
3. Next Select version.plist, right click and select move to trash (A message should appear Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this)(Enter your password) Select ok, (This moves the file to the trash).
4. Remove "iTunes" from your dock
5. From the Finder, choose Go > Go to folder.
6. Type the following and then press Return: /var/db/lockdown
7. Choose View > as Icons.
8. The Finder window should display one or more files with long alphanumeric file names.
9. In the Finder, choose Edit > Select all. Then, choose File > Move to Trash. Enter an administrator password if prompted. Note: Do not delete the Lockdown folder itself.
Delete only the files contained inside the Lockdown folder.
Step 3
Follow the below steps to troubleshoot the issue.
1. In Finder, click the Go menu and then choose Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears: /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
2. Click Go.
3. Locate the file "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig" and drag it to the Trash. (Do not move the similarly named "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist" file to the Trash.) If you DO NOT HAVE file "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig" I DELETED THE FOLLOWING (com.apple.usb.plist)
4. In the Finder, locate iTunes in the Applications folder and drag it to the Trash. (This will not remove any of your iTunes media or your iTunes library.) You may be presented with the following message “iTunes” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by OS X.) Do not worry click ok and proceed troubleshooting
5. Choose Go > Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears: /System/Library/Extensions
6. Click Go.
7. Locate the file "AppleMobileDevice.kext" and drag it to the Trash.
8. In Finder, click the Go menu and then choose Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks
9. Click Go.
10. Locate the folder "MobileDevice.framework" and drag it to the Trash.
11. In Finder, click the Go menu and then choose Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears: /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
12. Click Go.
Step 4
Goto your hard drive in the finder
1. Goto Library
2. Goto Launch Daemons
3. Throw this in the trash: com.ghughes.wifisync.root.plist and anything with the words iTunes
4. Goto Library
5. Goto Application Support
6. Throw this in the trash: Wi-Fi Sync (it's an entire folder) and anything with iTunes
Step 5
(Before restart book mark the link command and D). Restart the Mac.
Download iTunes and reinstall it. After the install, connect the 2.0 usb device to the iPad 2 while the unit is still powered off, next connect the 2.0 usb cord to iTunes, power the iPad on. iTunes will read the device and ask to trust device, select continue. Backup the iPad device to the 27 in iMac.

We use a Mac OS X Server (10.4.9) with Open Directory for authentication of the clients in our network. Furthermore, that machine serves home directories and mobile accounts.
Every now and then a client hangs during login: After submitting login information, the system does not respond anymore (shows 'hourglass'). A few minutes later, the login process continues.

Problem with App catalog this action could not be completed
I have not been able to use App catalog since a few days.
I am in UK on O2 network using US unlocked Pre2. It was possible to use App catalog and install free apps only. Now App catalog always load with error: " this action could not be completed, please try again later".

I made a backup of my iphone 5 in itunes, then I restored the backup all of a sudden I could not find my contacts or picture. I wonder where they have gone.
Can anyone help. where could they be on my pc.Yeah everything is gone for good. The apps won't be a problem. You can just redownload them. For the music find a program that copies the music from the iphone to the computer. Then add the files to itunes ans sync.

Can the problems with the Cirrus server cause this

We are have been developing an application using the Cirrus server for two months now and today we are having difficulties with the Netconnection.call method which we use to call the OnRelay method on the other peer. When a peer invokes the call method on his netconnection the OnRelay on the peer is called some of the time (so it is really unreliable).
We are curious whether this could be related to the recent problems with the Cirrus server? If not, what could be a reason the calls are working only some of the time?

Kevinwhile the problems with our hosting provider are not yet resolved, the cluster should be operating nominally. that should include the proper and relatively reliable functioning of the relay/onRelay function.
note that relay/onRelay is rate limited to about 1 relay every 2 seconds (approximated with a sliding window and about 10 relays every 20 seconds). this rate limit is in place because the relay/onRelay function is expensive to provide and a developer was abusing it. the limit is implemented by dropping relay requests for a time if the rate exceeds the limit point. the limit is per sender NetConnection. -
Office 2013 - "Server Versions could not be retrieved"

is there a reason why in case of spaces in the site url the previous versions of office documents could not be retrieved in the corresponding office program under file?
It all works fine with a site that does not have spaces in the url. When renaming the site (with blank in url) it only comes up with the message "Server versions could not be retrieved".

According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you used Office 2013 to open the document in a library at SharePoint 2010 site whose url contained the spaces.
I did a test as the followings:
Open a site and create a new subsite named ‘testforblank’, the url is
http://sp:3878/testforblank/
Then upload some word and excel files to SharedDcoument library in the subsite
Then open these files with Office 2013, everything was fine
Change the URl to http://sp:3878/test for blank/
Open these files with Office 2013, everything also was fine
Then I created a new subsite , the url is
http://sp:3878/test blank/
Reproduced the step 2-3, everything was fine
Please clear the data cache:
IE: Internet Options->Delete browsing history on exit
Office: Office 2013 Upload Center, select ‘All Cached Files’ after ‘Refresh’, then click on Action->Discard
After clearing data cache, test it again, compare the result.
