Problems with RAC installation with Windows 2000 Advanced Server

Hello,
I've two servers in cluster mode with W2K Advanced Server, and a RAID-5 array of 4 disks shared by both of them. My problem is that I've installed The Cluster Service of Windows in order to have an active/passive configuration of my servers, because I have a common directory structure that is accessed by the PC's of the LAN.
By another hand, I want to install Oracle Real Application Cluster to manage my Oracle database but after create the extended partition and the logical drives when I execute the file \preinstallation_rac\clustersetup\clustersetup.exe to create the cluster, when I select the option Create a cluster the following error message appears me:
"Any disk Oracle partition has been found. Stop this wizard, create an Oracle partition and try it
again."
I'd like to know if it's possible to have the Service Cluster of Windows 2k and the Oracle clusterware?¿ Altough before begining the installation I've stopped my Cluster Service as documentation suggests. If somebody knows what it's happening to me I'd be really very grateful.
Thanks in advance,
Isabel

Hello Joel,
I've already read all documentation provided by Oracle about Real Application Clusters
and I've not found anything to solve my problem. Certainly I want to use OCFS but when I
try to execute preinstall_rac\clustersetup.exe to install CFS the error appear and I can't
continue with RAC installation.
Besides I've tried command "lsnodes -v" and got :
Could not load CM.dll
Could not initialize cluster
And when I've tried to run "clustercheck" I've got :
** Copy File: Create Directory failed - Error 183
** Directory = \\192.168.1.111\Cy$\Temp\opsm
Created directory \\192.168.1.112\Cy$\Temp\opsm
Could not copy file to other nodes [error = 183]
I've read metalink Note 186130.1 Clustercheck Fails with Windows Error 183 and the only
proof I haven't done is get the clustercheck.exe release1(9.0.1).
Any suggestion will be very appreciated. Thanks,
Isabel

  • Mac G5 10.3.9 Samba Issue with Windows 2000 Advanced Server??

I have just installed a new Windows 2000 Advanced Server network but the Mac G5s running OS X 10.3.9 Panther cannot navigate the server - the finder just hangs with a beachball. The PCs can navigate without any problems.
Navigation is fine on the G4 running OS X 10.2.8 Jaguar on the same network.
On the G5 I have tried creating a new user and put the Mac using DHCP but this doesn't solve the problem.
I think I have tracked down the problem to Samba but am not sure - When I type in the direct samba link to the server:-
    smb://10.10.0.5
The "SMB Mount" screen asks me which share I would like to mount. This works without a problem. I create a shortcut to the share. This also works until I reboot, then the problem reoccurs!
I think I need to reinstall Samba, or update the Samba software?
    Does anyone have any thoughts,

What sort of settings do you have checked in your Directory Access > Services panel? That is, do you have SMB turned on?
Also, I would make sure that your server and computer's clocks are showing the exact same times-- just in case there is a synchronization issue.

  • Is Oracle 10g Express Edition compatible with Windows 2000 advanced Server

I have installed Oracel 10g Express Edition on windows 2000 advanced Server, but it is not working properly, but when i installed it on Windows 2000 Professional, then it is working properly, Does anybody know why this is happening. If anybody know why this is happening, please tell me and also tell me how can i install Oracle10g xe in Windows 2000 advanced server.

There should be no issues. A few possible reasons you are running into problems:
    - installation using a domain administrator (it works best using a local admin);
    - firewalls or anti-virus software or other port blocking mechanisms;
    - DHCP resets;
However, unless you tell us exactly the symptoms we are only guessing.

I've installed Oracle 8.1.6 and iFS 1.0 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Everything else seems to work fine with iFS, but the NtfsServer always fails to start up.

  • Windows 2000 Advanced Server Service Pack 2 and Oracle 8.1

    Hy,
I've got Oracle 8.1.6 instaled over an Windows 2000 Advanced Server user as a web server. Yesterday I updated it with the service pack 2 for windows 2000.
When I restarted the server after the install, the Oracle database services didn't start. They stay "Starting" but didn't finish to start. I tried to start them again but they were locked. I couldn't stop/restart them.
I had to uninstall the SP2. Then it works OK.
Is there any known problem with Oracle 8.1.6 and the SP2?
    Thanks

When Oracle installs itself, it usually replaces one or more Windows system files with its own versions. Your SP2 installation probably replaced those files with originals and Oracle got confused.
The only solution I can think of is to install all the necessary SPs first and then Oracle (when possible).

  • How to Install OPS on Windows 2000 Advance Server??

I just try to install Oracle Parallel Server on Win 2000 Advance
server, but it seems that the installation is not success.
    I am using 2 Compaq Proliant ML530 PIII/Xeon as a hardware and
Windows 2000 Advance Server for Operating System. From the
vendor's tools checking, it stated thad clustering service is
    already installed (ok!)
When I install Oracle Parallel Server, the default drive for
installation is already drive V (share disk), and Oracle
Parallel Server has been selected on the available product
components page, but I don't see node selection for install.
(According to Installing and Creating an Oracle Parallel Server
Database manual, I must select the nodes to which I want to
install the software from cluster node selection screen page)
Also when creating database (using Oracle database configuration
assistant), it does not displays database creation selection
(OPS or single instance configuration)as the first page, but
directly go to the second page (create/delete database).
Is the problem caused by wrong step of oracle Installation or OS
    itself (ie: Cluster Manager)??
Anybody have experience on it can help me?
    ps:I am using Oracle 8.1.7
    Regards,
    Suryanto

Please check whether you have installed the OSD layer (
Operating system dependent layer). Such layer can be obtained
from your hardware vendor ( eg compaq). You should have such
layer in your system before installing the OPS.
If you have such layer installed, you can see other nodes during
    installation of Oracle and OPS.
    Hope this help!

  • Oracle 8.1.7 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server

We have a client that is running the 8.1.7 server on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server. The database service is set to start automatically, but every time the server reboots the database service says that it is started, but when we try to access the database we get a message that says "Oracle not available". After we go into the DBA Studio and manually open the database everything works fine (until we have to reboot again). Are there any known issues with 8.1.7 and 2000 Advanced Server? Is there some configuration setting that we could be missing that will get the database to automatically start like it is supposed to?
Thanks in advance for any help,
    David L. England,
    Software Engineer, AlphaCorp

They are using a static IP and the network was all setup before we installed Oracle. I think we have the local System account starting the service. Is the right to start the database something we need to assign to the local System account or should we be using a different account?
I don't remember ever having to go into the service and change anything on any system we have setup before, but this is the first 2000 Advanced Server we have done.
    Thanks,

  • Wrong OS Error When Installing Internet Developers Toolkit 5.0 in Windows 2000 Advanced server

When I install the LabVIEW Internet Developers Toolkit 5.0 in Windows 2000 Advanced Server, the installer displays a Wrong OS error. I HAve ignored the error and contiued the installion still the Internet connectively pallete does not apper in my function Pallete .How do I resolve this error?

You might try reinstalling the toolkit but the installer should have created the following directory:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 6.1\vi.lib\addons\internet
Within this folder, there should be a folder for:
    ftp
    http
    image
    smtp
    telnet
    url
    utils
    and a file dir.mnu
It could be that the toolkit was intalled to the wrong folder. In which case you can move the folders and reboot LabVIEW.

how come you have the cds and no access to sapnet? strange....
    basically these are the steps:
    -> install win 2k server
-> check for all hardware and software requirements (needed for sap installation)
-> install oracle server 9.2 and the appropriate patchset (being 9.2.0.8 at the time) and the interim patches (opatch)
-> install sap central instance using sapinst (you will be asked for the different cds such as java, kernel etc.)
-> install sap database instnace using sapinst (you will be asked for the different cds such as java, kernel etc.)
    -> apply post-installation steps
but: without the installation guide and the relevant sapnotes it will be difficult to succeed....get access to sapnet asap!

  • Error starting the 9iAS installer on Windows 2000 on P4 laptop

I am having problem running 9iAS Installer on my P4 Laptop.
    any solution?

    Hi
I have successfully installed Oracle products in P4 hardware configuration and there is a know bug in Oracle & P4. Follow these steps below and I am sure that you will be successful in installing Oracle on P4.
    Background:
When installing and configuring Oracle 8i to support a Syllabus Plus timetabling application on a Pentium 4 Server with Windows 2000 Advance Server, the following issues were encountered:
    1.     The Oracle 8i Universal Installer (OUI) aborts without notice
    2.     When installed using either the Oracle 9i OUI or the patched 8i OUI downloaded from Oracle Corporation, errors occurred during installation and java based configuration tools such as the Database Configuration Assistant and the Network Configuration Assistant would not run.
    Problem Causes
Oracle Corporation have documented the following known issues:
    1.     The OUI 8.1.x fails to recognize the P4 processor and aborts without notice.
    2.     The OUI 8.1.x or above has problems on machines that use the Sun JRE and Symantec JIT. Windows 2000 (all versions) and Netware platforms are affected by this.
    Work Around
The following work around has been used successfully at the Northern Territory University to overcome these problems.
         1.     Install Oracle 9i patched installer available from Oracle Technology Network website on the machine running on Pentium 4 Processor.
         2.     After installing Oracle Universal Installer, open file oraparam.ini and make the following modifications: (Assuming CD-ROM Drive is d: and you are installing Oracle from CD-ROM)
         a.     Change the Source= line to use the full path to the CD instead of relative path. (i.e. Source=d:\stage\products.jar)
         b.     Change the JRE_Location line to use the full path to the CD instead of relative path. (i.e. JRE_Location=d:\stage\components\oracle\swd\jre\1.1.7\1\datafiles\expanded)
         c.     Change the OUI_Location line to use the full path to the C drive (where the installer is installed) instead of relative path. (i.e. JRE_Location=c:\stage\components\oracle\swd\oui\1.6.0.9.0\1\datafiles\expanded)
         d.     Change the JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS line to add -nojit as the first argument. (i.e. JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=-nojit ms16m ms32m) Other entries should remain same.
         3.     Launch OUI and this will use the modified oraparam.ini file and pick up the information from the CD-ROM. (since the absolute locations are specified)
         4.     Choose the custom install and choose not to create the database during the install. This way, the DBCA will not be launched during installation.
    5.     The Net8 Configuration assistant will still be launched and there is no way to suppress it. If you need to kill it due to installer hanging then in the configuration tools window highlight the Net8 Configuration Assistant and click Stop. If this does not work then look for the most recent JRE process using task manager and kill it manually. Note: The OUI itself will also have a jre process. Make sure to kill the only the most recent process.
    6.     After killing the configuration tool, continue through the installation to the End of Installation screen. We can modify the configuration tool to use this option nojit.
         7.     Once installation is complete, each of the following files in the ORACLE_HOME needs to be modified:
Each file will contain a command similar to the one following, which should be modified to include the option -nojit.
    Eg: Command=(c:\program files\oracle\jre\1.1.7\bin\jrew nojit classpath.
         a.     assistants\dbca\dbassist.cl
         b.     assistants\dbma\dbmig.cl
         c.     assistants\ifa\ifa.cl
         d.     bin\owm.cl
         e.     ldap\oidamdin\oidadmin.cl
         f.     network\tools\netasst.cl
         g.     network\tools\netca.cl
         h.     owm\install\instelogin.cl
         i.     owm\install\instowm.cl
This (-nojit) is the only modification required to enable the configuration tools. After these changes the configuration tools like Net8CA and DBCA can be launched from the start menu.
Note: if your Oracle server is already installed and running but configuration tools are not running then just edit these files mentioned above (from a to i) and then launched configuration tools, they all will work.
    Thank you

  • Memory Dump Error on Widnows 2000 Advanced Server.

    Hi,
I have a serious problem with my Oracle Database Server ( Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production ) . It is running on Windows 2000 advanced server. After every 2 or 3 days I am getting a memory dump error on my server and I have to restart my server.
Twice my database got corrupted due to improper shutdown and one of the data blocks got corrupted in one of the oracle data file.
The Data server has 1572144 KB of RAM. and 2302 MB of Virtual Memory.
Can anyone give me any suggestions why this is happening and how to solve this?
    Thank You,
    Suman Kumar

    Donald,
    Thank You for your reply.
By Oracle Memory footprint do you mean Oracle SGA size?
    I checked my SGA size:
    SQL> select * from v$sga;
    NAME VALUE
    Fixed Size 75804
    Variable Size 80416768
    Database Buffers 157286400
    Redo Buffers 77824
I have 2302 MB of Virtual Memory
I have 1,572,144 KB of RAM in my server.
I am using the default configuration of the Oracle Database created by Oracle Universal Installer.
I downloaded it from OTN. I have not applied any patches to my database. Should I go ahead and apply all the available pathces for Oracle 8.1.7.0.0?
I checked on Metalink for any pathes related to memory dump on windows 2000 advaned server, couldn't find any. The database version that I am using is Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production.
There is no screen saver on my server.
    Please advice.
    Thank You,
    Suman

When I try with windows install ( right click jdev_suite_121200_win32.exe and "run as administrator") , I get the following error:
ERROR Launch:No such file or directory
In the discussion (https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2573396?start=0&tstart=0) , it is said to be solved by "running as administrator" but it didn't work for me ...
    Thanks ...

    Hi,
Can you please tell whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit windows.
If it is 64-bit then you must run as administrator. In Windows 7x64, just right click on the jDeveloper exe and choose "run as administrator..."
Remove the existing Oracle folder and restart the system.
Try to install in new drive.

  • Serious problems after Mavericks installation with External Drive Lacie P9220.

Experiencing serious problems after Mavericks installation with External Drive Lacie P9220 1TB. Mac Finder totally locked!
I had to format the External hard drive with a Windows PC (fat32), then format again with my IMac (mac Journal.) and hopefully restored data from time machine backup.
So far so good but system looks unstable. Some software were not able to write on the hard drive. Some strange things happens. With Mountain Lion never had an even minor issue.
I read many discussion regarding problems with WD, just wondering if anyone had the same problems with Lacie and if there is any tip to solve the
    problem.
    Many thanks.

Thanks very much for your reply.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a solution because the article refers to whom have configured the drive with included software and drivers that came with the drive.
This is not my case, I never used any third party soft ...only OS X disk utility ...
