Problems with re-inst

We own the Zen xtra 30 G - I just erased my hard dri've for a clean-up, and when trying to re-install the drivers, etc. using the disk, All that shows is a tiny square with a selector arrow in the middle of the screen, no use and frozen. Anyone know what to do?

Rather than using the CD download the latest software using the guide here.

Hi there, its just now in the middle of the night i bben working for several month doing all print out now. the printer blik orange and i open to replace both 338 and 343 ink but it won't go to the right position to change the ink.But on my computer everything seem ok, like its printing. but its still bliking. I understand that your HP Deskjet 1000 will not print using the black ink cartridge, but will with only the color cartridge.

Installation problem with NW'04 SR1: database connection failed

Hi all,
while installing NW '04 SR1 on Windows Server 2003 SP1 and MS SQL Server 2000 SP4 I ran into an error related to the database connection. While performing the step "Load Java Database content" SAPinst crashes with the message
com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException: Could not load class com.ddtek.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver.
The connection to the SLQ Server with e.g. the Query Analyzer is OK. I had a problem with this installation setup before (have a look at the corresponding <a href="https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=338638&tstart=0">thread</a> ), the JDBC drivers where missing on the installation master but after copying them in the right direction the installation went on with no problem up to this point...
Has anybody an idea what could have happened here? Is this maybe a problem connected to the one I recently had

Please follow the below mentioned guide to install it.
Check all the parameters to set and run pre requisite checker before starting installation.
Keep in mind that before starting any SAP installation you should always run prerequisite checker.

Font problem with Montserrat and Maven Pro from google

Seems like some fonts don't render as they should in Firefox 29.0.1. I tried to use google web fonts like Montserrat and Maven Pro, no problem with downloading but this fonts don't look good.
I tried to install Montserrat to my Windows 7 (64) and deactivated css so that FF runs the font but same problem occurs.
A really strange problem is that from my computer at work this fonts don't work from FF or Chrome, all versions of IE is fine.
At home i have a laptop with same OS and version of FF and from home it works! But not Chrome..
I have search on the net and at your support site but haven't find any answers yet.

Problem with EM (Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database)

Hi all,
I've Oracle DB 11g Rel.1 installed on Windows XP SP3. The database is up and running i.e. everyone can connect to the DB by using any App tool e.g. SQL*Plus, Forms, or Reports. It means that the listener and the service is running. But the problem is that when I try to start the EM I see some error messages on the webpage.
It says:

Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is running.I have checked some documents around config files in sysman and test_orcl\sysman directories. Moreover, I have checked dbsnmp and sysman account for unlockness and password accuracy. But they did not help me to solve the problem.
My question is if every thing is working fine then what is the problem with the EM? Why it is not connecting to the DB?

Problem with bfilename(directory_name,file_name) function

Hi all,
I have a problem with this function. I have built and pl/sql program in order to send an email wich includes "pdf" file.
I have found that bfilename function works fine when you want to send a pdf file.
However, when I execute this query
SELECT bfilename('/usr/tmp', 'pdf_report.pdf') dato
FROM dual;
The result shows in the screen : /usr/tmp//pdf_report.pdf (NoExist)
I don't know why the path includes double "//".
Then, I wanted to open the file in this way
bfile_len := dbms_lob.getlength(bfile_handle);
pos := 1;
dbms_lob.open(bfile_handle,dbms_lob.lob_readonly);
an error occurs :
ORA-22285: non-existent directory or file for GETLENGTH operation.
I infere that the problem is "//" but I don't know why it happened.
Can I use another function in order to send a pdf file inside an email ? Or can I change a blob type column in order to replace "/" insted of "//" ?.

I did what you told me but the error still appears.
I created my directory in the database. But when the program executed the line with the "fileopen sentence" the error appeared again.
I saw that the directory contained '//' instead of '/'. Can I use another function in order to send a pdf file inside an email ?

Problem with KT4 Ultra and XP 2700

First excuse my bad english (i'm from Germany)!!
I have a heavy problem with my KT4 Ultra.
First my system:
AMD Athlon XP 2700
Mainboard: MSI KT4 Ultra (MS-6590) Bios vers. 1.1
MSI Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64 Mb
512 Mb DDR Ram Apacer Technology 512 MB 16x(32mx8)DDR-SDRAM PC2700U-2533-700(CL2.5 upto 167MHz)(CL2 upto 133MHz
Sound : Onboard
GlobalWIN CAK38 II Kupfer
Powersupply: Levicom 420W
Win XP SP1
Now the problen:
When i turn the FSB in the Bios up to 166MHz
the system crashes on Windows startupscreen!!
I've turned the FSP clock down to 164 MHz and Windows starts.But when i runned 3DMark2001 it crashes back to desktop !!
Then i turned the FSB clock down to 159 MHz and the system runns stabile!!
Now what i've already tried:
Turned down Ram timings and frequency (same prob.)
No heatproblem (CPU at 118.f)
Had the same system exapt an XP1800 instead an XP2700 and no problems!!
Called the MSI hotline (Germany) and they told me to type the FSB manually in the Bios (insted of numblock +and -). ?(
Still the same problem !! ;(
Has anyone the same problem as i ???

Or start from BIOS default settings and only change CPU-FSB....

I think the real problem is that you don't check the return value from read (it's probably less than data.length indicating an incomplete read). Isn't there a readFully somewhere?

Problem with Bytes

i've recently started learning java, and i am having a few problems with writeing to files.
for example:
 FileWriter outWriter = new FileWriter("file.txt");
 char i = 1;
char z = '1'
 outWriter.write(i);
 outWriter.write(z);
 outWriter.close();
this produces the output '1',
it doesnt seem a problem untill you want to include loops such as:
for (int count = 0; count < 100; count++)
outWriter.write(count);
this will produce the output '23456789:;<=>?@ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ[\]^_`abc'
how would i get it to produce '50 51 52' etc. i have been experimenting and i cant seem to find a solution.
and sujestions would be very welcome.

well i wouldn't call it a weakness, it follows the Unicode (3) standard. Therefore all characters (char and Character) have a value assosiated with it.: A = 65, a = 97 etc etc.
Therefore, when you are using the char i = 1, the value of the "internal int" is set to 1. But when you use '1' the internal int is set to the intvalue that corresponds to the character 1, witch is 49. So the "real" intvalues for your chars are:
i = 1
z = 49
When you write this to your file, and open the file with a texteditor it will translate 1 and 49 to the corresponding cahracters (1 is not a printable cahracter so you get [] insted). If you open the file in a hex-editor, then you would se the values 1 and 49 (probably as 01 and 31 as it will display it in hexvalues).
Anyhow the proposed solution should work, you can also use the write(String str, int off, int len) - specified by API for OutputStreamWriter - to write a complete String to the file.

Problem with table MBEWH

Hello SAP experts , im having a little problem with table MBEWH because the data i whant to extract isnt the correct one, i saw that this table stores all the prices for the materials and it groups them by year and by month but when i check to see what was the price for a specific material the price i had on that time periord inst the same as the one on the system, also i manage my material with baches and when i check to see if that batch was in that period of time it isnt so im really confused as to how the system saves the historical data on this table, thank you in advanced.

Post-Install Problem with External Firewire drive

I just installed Tiger 10.4.3 and the computer would not reboot. It would stop prior to the Starting Mac OS X progress bar and gray out letting me know that the computer needs to restart.
I finally got it to boot successfully by unplugging or turning orr my external Maxtor Firewire drive. The external drive was plugged during the install process (mistake?)
Via Software upgrade, I upgraded to 10.4.6 in the hopes that this would solve the issue. No luck and when turning the drive on, it immediately goes right to the gray screen and lets me know it will need to reboot.
Is this a known problem with a known solution? Did I FUBAR my drive somehow? Any suggestions for righting to ship?

Problem with selecting remote tables.

Hi, im having problems with one select...
Running select, in which i select tables from remote DB, takes not more then 2 seconds, retrieving few rows.
1) When i try to "create table as" using that select it takes about 1 minute to run.
2) Trying "merge into" my table using that select takes more that 5 minutes, ... replacing the select within merge by newly created temporary table (point 1) works fine - takes few seconds to run.
So why simple select takes few seconds, creation of table using that select takes one minute and merge using that select takes 5minutes to run ?

Have tried hint /*+NO_QUERY_TRANSFORMATION*/ and it is working fine now = 2seconds for merge :) Have no idea why is that, but it works

Problems with some PDF files

Hi,
I have problems with some PDF files. After clicking on link to the file Safari shows me insted of normal document (which is working on Windows) hashes, numbers etc like it was a problem with coding or something. First I was using Preview, I though that maybe installing Acrobat Reader with plugins will solve the problem, but ofcourse it didn't. Did somebody has this same problem?

Back up all data.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Quit Safari. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal. Test.

A problem with threads

I am trying to implement some kind of a server listening for requests. The listener part of the app, is a daemon thread that listens for connections and instantiates a handling daemon thread once it gets some. However, my problem is that i must be able to kill the listening thread at the user's will (say via a sto button). I have done this via the Sun's proposed way, by testing a boolean flag in the loop, which is set to false when i wish to kill the thread. The problem with this thing is the following...
Once the thread starts excecuting, it will test the flag, find it true and enter the loop. At some point it will LOCK on the server socket waiting for connection. Unless some client actually connects, it will keep on listening indefinatelly whithought ever bothering to check for the flag again (no matter how many times you set the damn thing to false).
My question is this: Is there any real, non-theoretical, applied way to stop thread in java safely?

Problem with Threads and a static variable

I have a problem with the code below. I am yet to make sure that I understand the problem. Correct me if I am wrong please.
Code functionality:
A timer calls SetState every second. It sets the state and sets boolean variable "changed" to true. Then notifies a main process thread to check if the state changed to send a message.
The problem as far I understand is:
Assume the timer Thread calls SetState twice before the main process Thread runs. As a result, "changed" is set to true twice. However, since the main process is blocked twice during the two calls to SetState, when it runs it would have the two SetState timer threads blocked on its synchronized body. It will pass the first one, send the message and set "changed" to false since it was true. Now, it will pass the second thread, but here is the problem, "changed" is already set to false. As a result, it won't send the message even though it is supposed to.
Would you please let me know if my understanding is correct? If so, what would you propose to resolve the problem? Should I call wait some other or should I notify in a different way?

Thanks DrClap for your reply. Everything you said is right. It is not easy to make them alternate since SetState() could be called from different places where the state could be anything else but a status message. Like a GREETING message for example. It is a handshaking message but not a status message.
Again as you said, There is a reason I can't call sendMessage() inside setState().
The only way I was able to do it is by having a counter of the number of notifies that have been called. Every time notify() is called a counter is incremented. Now instead of just checking if "changed" flag is true, I also check if notify counter is greater than zero. If both true, I send the message. If "changed" flag is false, I check again if the notify counter is greater than zero, I send the message. This way it works, but it is kind of a patch than a good design fix. I am yet to find a good solution.
