Problems with Safari not being able to access key sites such as BBC news yet Firefox gives immediate access

Does anyone else have a problem accessing key web sites using Safari? I am frustrated with Safari particularly as I can get Access immediately using Firefox

I regularly use cleanmymac
Which is a scam, but we can come back to that later.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Test. If there's no change, see below.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

The clock on my iPad seems to be stuck ? Could this have anything to do with me not being able to connect with FaceTime ?

In order to backup to iCloud the iPad must be plugged into a power source, connected to WiFi and locked - meaning that it must be asleep - or with the lock screen only visible. This is for automatic backups.
If the iPad is not responding at all to any user input, try restarting it or resetting it and see if you can take the steps necessary to back up. You can initiate the backup manually as well.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Problem with process not being executed depending on sequence

Got a weird problem which is causing us much frustration. We have a page with 6 processes on. It appears that several of the processes are not being run by Apex, we've verified this by looking at the debug readout.
We created a new, unconditional test process to always run and placed it before all the other processes in the page. However it's not being run either. It doesn't even show up in the debug. But if we then change it's sequence so it's the last process in the page, it runs fine and shows up in the debug readout.
Could we have set something on the page that's causing Apex to skip the first 2 processes. Even if they're conditional I'd expect the debug readout to show that Apex hasn't run them (e.g. 0.03: ...Do not run process "PROCESS1").
The processes on the page have sequences of 10, 20, 30, 35, 40, and 999. If we create the Test process and assign it any sequence below 20, it fails to run. A sequence of 21 or above makes it run.
    Any ideas? We are stumped!

They are all After Submit processes, they only run when the page is submitted, not when first built, so should they not all be shown in debug when the page is submitted, whether they're conditonal or not?
The strange thing is, if I change their sequence values to 21 or above, they run fine. Although this does solve our problem it doesn't explain why they're not running as expected, and it's a potential issue that could catch us out elsewhere.
Edit - we're narrowing it down I think. One of the processes appears to be the cause of this. If we increase it's sequence number, it seems that anything with a lower sequence than it never seems to run. I'll have a look at what this process is doing although I still don't understand why the ones before it don't show up.

  • I have a problem with Safari not connecting on my IPad with WiFi

IPad 3 or 'new IPad 'with cellular data. I have a problem with the WiFi not working more than a couple of times.  When I check settings the connection is still showing as strong.   To regain access to the Internet, I have to turn  the WiFi off and then back on.  Then it will work a time or two and stop again.  I don't want to have to use my data plan when I am sitting right beside the router.
The WiFi signal is good, I have two laptops in the house that have no problem running on it with no interruptions.
Appreciate any help you can supply!

THanks, I tried all those and it is still the same erratic connection.
I also located the below  information,  and it didn't fix it either.
To reset the iPad's WiFi connection, simply use the option at the top of the screen to turn WiFi off. All of the WiFi settings will disappear. Next, simply turn it back on again. This will force the iPad to search for the WiFi network again and rejoin.
If you still have problems, you can renew the lease by touching the blue button to the far right of the network's name in the list. The button has a ">" symbol in the middle and will lead you to a page with the network settings.
Touch where it reads "Renew Lease" towards the bottom of the screen. You'll be prompted to verify that you want to renew the lease. Touch the renew button.
This process is very fast, but it could correct some problems.

I'm having the same problem and it started after I downloaded the latest update for Safari. I can use Firefox to get online but the problem is that I can't install any other updates that I download because I think the installer is linked to Safari. In addition, I can't seem to access the help information for some programs like iMovie.
My computer knowledge, and my Mac knowledge in particular is limited, so if anyone has any suggestions of what could be the problem or how I could fix it that would be great.

  • Issue with groups not being able to run applications on remote server

    Hi all..
I've got an older PowerMac G5 running 10.5.8 that gets the OpenDirectory accounts from our MacMini server running 10.6.5. I've got a group setup called "Children" that my kids belong to and which is managed care of the Workgroup manager. However, I find that some of my apps can't be run by any of the kids if they're in subdirectories within /Applications. They receive a "The operation could not be completed because you do not have enough access privileges." I've tried playing around with various settings and finally decided to not restrict access to any applications but the problems remain.. Some apps can be run just fine but others are out of reach.. Any ideas on how to fix this or perhaps diagnose it?
    Thx!

    Hi
Another approach is to create a folder in the local Administrators Home folder. Name it Applications. Place the applications you want to restrict access to into that folder. If you have ARD you could use the mkdir and mv commands to achieve this. In some situations I find this an easier way of managing applications rather than what's available in WorkGroup Manager. For me it only tends to work with Apple's built in applications effectively. Anything else is liable to cause a problem along the lines you mention. Some 3rd-Party applications can have dependencies that may be sited in different locations. The trick is tracking down them.

  • Problem with scrolling not being smooth

I recently had an updated version of Firefox installed on my computer (PC).But there is one feature of this new version that is actually worse than the old one.
When I scroll down to read multiple messages on message boards it doesn’t react the same as it did before the “upgrade”. It is not as “smooth” now as it was before when I scroll down through messages. This might seem like a small problem but it is a waste of time and hard on the eyes.
Each time I roll the wheel on my mouse one notch to move the messages up on my screen they move differently than they did before.
Now what happens is the increments that the screen moves in are much more discernible than before. Before the update, it was much more seamless and you couldn’t even notice any changes at all – it was more smooth – now it is very “jumpy”, to the point where you can’t read the messages as they scroll across the screen, which is the point. They move now in such noticeable or discernible increments that I can’t read them as they move – I have to wait until the screen stops.
I used to be able to read as I scrolled. This might not seem like a big problem but it is huge! It is way better to be able to read as you scroll – saves time and is way easier on your eyes.
Scrolling through newspaper articles or other internet articles doesn’t seem to be a problem because each mouse wheel click moves the screen in bigger “chunks”. It is the little movements that happen with message board reading that make it impossible to read and very hard on the eyes.
How do I fix this? Or can you fix this? Do I have to go back to the previous version of Firefox?
Please help. I hate this problem!
    ''title edited by a moderator''

    Firefox 13.0.1 'autoscroll'
You described the problem very well, and my problem is the same or maybe worse.
When I roll the wheel one notch the vertical scrolling takes off with a mind of its own.
The scrolling speed accelerates and decelerates in speed from start to stop.
    per the '- - tools-options-help' redirection to 'ff help-browsing':
    Browsing
Use autoscrolling: Autoscrolling is a useful feature which allows you to scroll the page by clicking the middle mouse button (usually the scroll wheel) and moving the mouse up or down. Some people find this annoying, so autoscrolling can be disabled with this option.
So I'm assuming this is the 'autoscroll' feature and is the way it was designed.
One click will start a short vertical scroll job of maybe 2 or so inches.
I don't like it because it is too erratic with too many clicks.
During the scrolling there is a horizontal slice of the page with noticeable distortion.
And if there is too much page-loading activity, the scroll is more erratic and is very obnoxious.
If it scrolls too fast I may click on the page and accidentally hit a link into a 'flash ad'.
Unchecking the 'autoscrolling' doesn't disable this undesired feature.
How do I get back to the 'one-line' per click scroll? What am I missing?

  • Has anyone had an issues with certain not being able to SMS certain numbers after upgrading to IOS6.1.3

I upgraded my software on iphone 4s on Tuesday and since then I can no longer send an SMS to my parents (how live in Spain and therefore its a Spanish mobile).  The international dialing code is correct, and I am on a contract therefore no isssues with credit.
When i try to send the SMS it keep saying delivery failed.  Been trying for 3 days.  And also when my parents call me from there mobile numbers it now coming up as a blocked unknown caller rather than the contact name as it did pre-upgrate.
Would really appreciate if anyone has an ideas to fix this as hate being cut off from my familly.

Already done this and they haven't found any problems or made any changes.  All the problems started following the upgrade to 6.1.3

  • Problem with files not being savable.

I've tried asking for help but none of the many people who've read my request for help answered! It's easy to see I'm pretty clueless about how the computer works but i think I can solve the problem if I'm pointed in the right direction.
Every Word file I open now has the following new and unwelcome identity  in Get Info -- More Info :  Title: Photos for Personal Use or Home Display:
    Authors: Technology
I don;t know who 'Photos for  Personal Use...' or 'Technology'  are, but I don't want them in my system. It must be this intrusion that's giving me trouble saving and exiting from Word Files.
The files are all written Word documents.
    Suggestions would be appreciated!

  • Hello, I have been having some trouble with my mac after i bought it and used Migration Assistant, i.e. not being able to install some applications, such as adobe flash player. Anyone know a solution? Thank you!

I really wish someone could help me.
    Thank you.

Reinstalling OS X won't help you unless you erase the drive and reinstall from scratch. To do that you want a backup of your files so they won't be lost. If you can do that, then:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
Now, after the successful first startup you will be in the Setup Assistant. Be sure you give your new admin account the same username as the one on your backup. When you get to the Desktop I suggest you install Flash from the download link I gave you earlier. Open Safari and see if Flash is now working for you. I recommend you reinstall only your data at this time. Redownload and install any third-party software you use. Be sure you get only the most recent versions and that they are compatible with Mavericks - App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
