Problems with Sapphire Edge Presets

Hi,
I'm curious if anyone else has similar problems with GenArts Sapphire Edge. Sometimes when I add a loaded preset effect like FilmDamage (in this case, "Slot Spin" to a clip, when I shut down FCPX and restart it, the loaded preset reverts back to a preset I had been previously experimenting with and decided I didn't like. This malfunction results in losing HOURS of keyframing clips. I tried to reload the "Slot Spin" preset again, and all my keyframe markers disappeared. I have emailed GenArts about some of the problems with their plugin for FCP, and they blame Apple. It appears this might become a repeat of the cases of the Adobe/Apple runaround debacle.
Anyone experiencing similar problems? Any workarounds?

UPDATE: The same problem happened again today. I called GenArts Customer Support, and they said that essentially FCP X v10.0.4 is a terrible update and there are many many bugs. He said the software is "broken." I've heard from other people at work that 10.0.4 is causing many problems for those using Compound Clips.
The problem is that I NEED to use Compound Clips with the way I've built my workflow, and I'm using them they way they're supposed to be used, but they don't work correctly.
Oh, Apple. What have you become? You kill me. I want to love this product. It makes editing fun again. Once I wrapped my head around the concepts you present in FCPX, a big bright lightbulb went on in my head. But then these kinds of problems arise and evaporate the puddle of of trust (it used to be a lake) you've rained down on me. Please, please get it together. Work with your vendors, and help them help make your product better, or else you will lose me and many many others.
I want my 9 hours of lost work back. (And the autosave feature.)

Have a problem with a brush preset picker in CS5

Have a problem with a brush preset picker. By right click over your document (if you using brush or cloning tool) it’s open, so you choose a brush and size. But in new version, if your option bar is in different monitor (I am using two monitors one has my working area – document, other one tools), its open only in that monitor, where is a option bar. Supposed to open over your working area like it was in CS4. Seems to me, it’s not recognizing second monitor.

My graphic setting is OK, my CS4 is working fine. I thing it's a bug in new version.

Problems with refine edge in CS5-no longer working properly?!

Hi all, just wondered if anyone has experienced this bizarre problem and if so how they went about fixing it or changin the settings! (i may have done something to photoshop for it not to work properly!!!)
Basically, i have got CS5 and was very excited to find the refine edge tool.... made cutting out people real easy and loved it.... however, for some reason the refine edge is not working anymore. Everytime i try to refine the edge using the refine edge tool it isnt selecting any fine details of the cut. It seems to be erasing the image with a low opacity making the selection very blurred?!
Hopefully you can see from the very quickly put together example that the refine edge tool is taking pixels out if her nose, chin, jumper neck and jumper! Any one know how to prevent this from happening?

I am having the same problem with the refine edge tool. It seems to work the exact opposite of what I was expecting.
The above two images are before and after using the tool to refine the edge. As you can see from the picture without the mask view, the selection actually got smaller after I tried to add to it. When I use the other tool to erase an edge, as soon as I release the mouse button, the portion I tried to remove reappears as it was before. This has never worked properly for me. Also, I have tried outputting in several different ways.
As for the questions posed: The app and OS are up to date. I am the only user on my computer, so I'm not sure what using another user would accomplish. I will mention that I'm using Windows 7, not Mac. I'm really hoping there is a setting I have wrong somewhere.

Nokia 6210 Problems with using Edge (Internet Conn...

I have a Nokia 6210 phone bought from an authorized Nokia Care Center in Delhi, India two weeks ago. The software version on the phone is 3.08 dated 11-June 2008. It also mentions custom version as 03.08.c00.01
I am an Airtel Prepaid customer in New Delhi, India and had been using Mobile Office service on my prepaid number for some time. It worked perfectly fine for my Nokia 6233. On my current Nokia 6210 the Internet connection works fine for the first time through the built in browser or though any other application (like Google Maps, Gmail etc) which required internet and displays the sign signifying that the edge connection is active.
The problem is that once I close the application the standby sign for Edge network is displayed as follows and no matter what I am unable to use the internet connection on the phone again until I do the following
Restart the phone (which definitely isn’t a good option)
Wait for around 8-10 minutes after which the Edge on hold sign disappears and is replaced by which means that the edge is available
I found this out accidentally, but if I press the keys *123# which I typically use for enquiring balance, the on hold sign goes away and is replaced by the Edge available sign. after which things work fine.
Not sure where the problem is. I really doubt it’s got to do something with Airtel as the same number worked perfectly fine with my previous Nokia phone in the same area. In addition my wife’s phone (again an Airtel prepaid number) is working great in the same area. So either this has got to do something with the handset or the compatibility of the handset with the Airtel, New Delhi.
I have tried various sets of setting from the following sources
The wizard in built in the handset
Getting the settings from the Nokia site
Getttng the settings from Airtel Customer Care
But with all of them I am facing the same set of problems.
Wanted to check if anybody out you have ever faced a similar problem with this phone or one in a simlar series?

I suggest that you don't make permanent coupling between devices. Looks like Nokia modem is more responsive when you need to manually accept every connection at the phone's end.

Problem with Matte Edge Contols in Chroma Keyer

I'm in the process of pulling a chroma key using FCP. The actual keying has gone fine, but I want to adjust the matte edges using the Matte edge controls found within the chroma keyer. The problem is that when I adjust any of the 3 controls the unmasked image imediately goes blurry. If I set the values back to "0" the image is again sharp. What am I missing here.
Would very much appreciate any help.

Problem with iPod output preset

I am trying to output a video for my client's iPod. This is the first time that I've been requested to do this. I have tried using both the large video and small video H.264 iPod presets. Each time, the resulting video is jittery. I had no trouble making the DVD from this footage. You can look at a short sample of what I am experiencing here:

The source footage is .avi. How might I tweak the settings in the preset to cure this?

Could someone please create a file with the Premiere iPod preset and let me know if you experience the same problem? If so, then I'll report the problem to Adobe. If not, then I'll try to figure out what's wrong on my end.
I did find a workaround. I outputted the project as a Quicktime file, and then I let iTunes convert that file to their iPod format. This worked fine for my client, but the conversion was very slow.

Problem with posterize time preset

i made a preset from posterize time. it used to work good, latly, when i add the preset to the time line, the image freeze, and i have to change the scale of the effect in oreder to make it work correctly.
any solutions?

Having problems with After Effects preset

When I want to use the presets I always get an error message, an example is when I wanted to use a text "animate in" preset and got the following error message:
After Effects error: Can't import file "Fly In From Bottom.ffx": unsupported filetype or extension. ( 0 :: 1 )

It use to work in the past, I use the text tool type and then go to Animation - Browse Presets, Opens up in Bridge and I select the Animation In or Out and double click on the preset I want and then I get an error message similar to my original posting. Its all of the presets, I played around with 60% of them including the background and so forth and keep on getting error message

Problems with Hotspot, EDGE, and 3G internet after upgraded to iOS 4.3

I just upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS version 4.3 , but after I installed it, the Personal Hotspot badge on Settings>General>Network appears, but it keeps at the "loading circle" sign (the same one when the iPhone is turning off). Besides that I realized that my 3G internet is not working, neither EDGE. none of the 3G or EDGE icons appears next to my carrier bundle, how it usually do. Wifi is working though. I tried to solve the problem restoring the iPhone, but the problem persisted even after the restore. What's happening to my iPhone 3GS?

Problem with hard edge gradients

Hi all,
Something strange is going on. When i use a smooth brush...drawing a circle or whatever i get these hard edges that shouldn´t be there.

See if its any better if you create that editing in 16bit color and you turn off your GPU in Photoshop Preferences performance and view zoomed to actual pixels..

Problem With Refine Edge Tool (CS 6)

When trying to increase the edge of a selection, the newly selected "margin" immediately snaps back to its original state. Help!!

For this type of project and idea, I would recommend trying some of the magnetic lasso tool. The tool is located as the third tool in the toolbar (you should see a lasso or rope looking icon), hold down the icon and it should expand - then select the magnetic lasso tool. The magnetic lasso tool will allow you to scroll over the edge of his profile and it will automatically detect the outline edges. The slower you roll-over the shape the higher the accuracy will be. If the magnet is not detecting a particular edge or sharp corner (for example, the ear) you can manually drop points by simply right-clicking at any point during the selection. If the edge is too sharp, you can also create a light feather which will blend the edge softly (this should be located at the top).
If this is unsuccessful still, you can try selecting by color, using the Magnetic Wand Tool (forth icon in the toolbar, again hold down for all options). Once you are using the magnetic wand tool, you should be able to select all the black areas of the background to delete. You can increase or decrease the tolerance to change the sensitivity of the selection.

Can't connect to the internet or email. It says it kin't find the server or that cannot activate edge.

Problem sending mail via 3g/edge , no problem with wifi

I'm having problem with my iphone sending email via the 3g/edge network. When I am in wifi mode i don't have any problem.
I can receive email via 3g/edge and wifi . The problem is only sending email.
I have setup SMTP with login and password, with SSL, with pass auth and port 587
I try with port 465 and i have the same problem with 3g/edge , but no problem with wifi.
Any help please?

ok. i found the solution.
The problem is not in the iphone, the problem was DNS resolution in the server side.

Im haveing a problem with google map in my adobe edge web page file project

ok iv set my google map for a certain address in adobe edge however when I load the file in a internet browser the map is scrolled further away from the address and marker that is placed on the address.
the problem is that when I load the page the map is not on target it looks like this

Problem with LCD hitting the back edge

My Macbook has a problem. The bezel on the LCD towards the very rear of the screen rubs against the base edge when I open up the MacBook.
Here is a picture to describe what I mean:

That little piece is sticking out. If I open the MacBook from with more force on the right edge, then the tab hits even more and there is enough friction to make an alarming snapping sound.
I hope apple replaces my macbook as I just received it today from fedex!
Has anyone experienced this yet?

I have not had this problem with my Macbook.
I suggest you contact them right away.
I also suggest you don't "ask" them to replace it. I would tell them it needs to be replace. Over time I think that will make for a nasty scar on your notebook. Considering black macbook owners pay 150$ for just the color, Apple knows that how these look has much to do with their value and shoudl approach the problem knowing that.
I hope it goes well, and expect it will.
