Problems with sending songs to iTunes

Hi everyone.
I have GB '11 and iTunes 10.7 running on a Mac Book Pro using Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I have a large music collection which I keep on an external hard drive.
I created a song in GB and tried to send it to iTunes using the "send song to iTunes" command in the "Share" dropdown menu.
GB seemed to go through the motions of creating the mixdown etc.. however it failed to open iTunes or play the file.  When I tried to find the song in my iTunes library it was not there. I ended up having to burn the song to a CD, open iTunes then import the song on the CD into iTunes. There must be an easier way - what am I doing wrong??
Many thanks!

Hi LeonieDF
Thanks for your quick reply!
Are there any error messages or other diagnostics when you are trying to share the song the iTunes?
No, not at all.  It just goes through the motions - then nothing.
Is your iTunes library on a remote volume and can there be network problems?
My iTunes library is on an external hard drive connected directly to the MBP via USB2, so there shouldn't be an issue there.
Does te title of the song or artist name contain characters that are not allowed in filenames?
Nope - the song name is "Reunion"
What happens if you try to share the song to a folder on your disk and import it to iTunes?
This works!!  If I share the song to my desktop then import it to iTunes from there it appears in my iTunes library on the external HD and successfully plays.
Thanks for your suggestions!!

  • Problems with some songs in iTunes (and my iPod)

    Hi,
I do not know whether this is the right category for my problem, but I did not find a suitable one.
I have problems with some songs in iTunes. They do not sound right. It is hard to me to describe my problem in English (thanks to apple's "great" support...I was not able to contact them personally except by phone). The songs "hang", they sound like someone reels (?) it. The problem does not only appear with iTunes but also with my iPod nano first generation.
My godmother brang me CDs where that problems appear (but not the whole CDs have that problem, only a few songs) from the USA - I live in Germany. Maybe that is cause of the error. But I cannot imagine that, because CDs there and here have the same format and I have several CDs from the US where is no problem at all. I am absolutely sure that the CDs are originals and not a copy, by the way.
Maybe you can help me, it would be great!
    Thanks,
    Jule

Yes, I thought that's what Restore should do, but the problems remain.  Hmmm, the out of order 'album's' songlist is notated 1 of 8, 2 of 8, 3 of 8...  I'll try 01, 02...
    Probably a good idea.
The other album is running through the list of songs like fast-forward, but not playing the songs.  Then, iPod locks up.
Do these same tracks play okay in iTunes?  What is the original source for these tracks?  Were they downloads from the iTunes Store or imported from outside of iTunes?  What format are they encoded in and at what bitrate?

  • Problems with playing songs in iTunes

as the subject says. I have som problems with playing songs. not everyone just a some..
If we take for example that a song is 8min. then at 1.40 it just stops and goes to the next one. I can jump over it with pressing in the middle for example. it plays. as normal. UNTIL. 3 mins. then the same problems appear. I don't really understand how. just between 1.40-1.50 iTunes thinks that the song is finished. I know my english isn't so good but cuz there is no swedish support. I have to write here. any answers would be good

    I'm having a similar problem.
Every now and then, a track from a ripped CD or from iTunes or from eMusic will "look" OK in iTunes (or on my iPod), but when the track plays, it gets partially through and it jumps to the next track in the playlist.
For example, if playback of track 1 pauses and jumps to track 2 at 1:30 into playback of track 1, & I click on 1:31 or later in track 1, the rest of track 1 will play fine. But if the playback of track 1 starts at the before the "skip point," the track will stop & iTunes (or iPod) goes on to the next track in the playlist. If I locate the file (on my external drive) and play it in the finder, there's always buzzing sound at the point where the iTunes jumps to the next track.
For ripped CD's this is not a huge deal, I just re-rip & usually all is well. With eMusic, I can download again, but with iTunes, I have to file a complaint & so far they've just credited my account, which is OK, but time consuming.
At first I thought the problem was with my optical drive, but then the problem started happening with downloads from iTunes and eMusic as well. NONE of these shenanigans happened before I upgraded to iTunes 7.6, so I'm wondering if that's where the problem is. One thing's for sure: I'm not going to "jump" at the next upgrade of iTunes!
I'm totally stumped & bummed. iTunes used to be a really good friend, now I find myself wondering if I should bother with putting my entire CD collection on iTunes if it's no longer as reliable as it used to be.

  • Problems with purchased songs and iTunes 7.0.1

For some odd reason, I can't transfer purchased songs onto my ipod. They appear to be transferred, but I can't play them nor can I open them within iTunes. Is this an authorization issue? Has anyone had a similar problem?
    TIA
    -Chris

could you walk us through what happens when you try to play the songs in itunes, Chris?

  • Problems with sending ringtones to iTunes.

I'm using the latest version of Garageband '08, and when I click send ringtone to itunes, it says it's sending it to iTunes, then itunes opens up but my ringtone is not there. It's like nothing even happened. Why is it doing this?

I'm having the exact same problem. Have followed the tutorials on Facebook, researched it in this board, and still am not finding an answer.
    Still looking.

  • Problem with downloading songs from iTunes

I downloaded around 10 songs from itunes onto my ipod using itunes on my ipod. All of a sudden, the songs dissapeared. Itunes says they are on there but they aren't. Any suggestions?

When you buy the song you do not get it as a ringtone.
The symbol means it can be also purchased as a ringtone once you own the track.
You must purchase the track then use the create a ringtone option in iTunes which will let you select 40 seconds of music from the track and then you have to pay to purchase those 40 seconds as a ringtone.

  • Problem with duplicated songs in iTunes library.

    Hi folks,
Following a recent sync between my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8) and iPod touch (3rd Gen, iOS 6.1.6), my iTunes library (v 11.4) now contains duplicate tracks of every song on certain albums. Seems to affect random artists and albums and is only in my MacBook library - not on the iPod.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this happens and, more importantly, how to 'undo it'? I've tried another sync and MacBook re-starts, but no result.
    Very grateful for any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    AJ707

I am having a similar problem. these mystery duplicates are turning into a real furball. In passing, I would like to say also that this so-called "feature" called "up next" is so unbelievably intrusive and annoying. It makes debugging this problem, which is already terrible bad enough to make me wish for an itunes substitute. I never thought it would get this awful. I have about 70 mystery tracks in my library which I am trying to get rid of. I have to go through them one by one and unless I manually clear out the up next list which takes about 3 clicks, every time I click on one of these mystery tacks the same **** song plays. Very awful. It took me along time to figure that out. I thought there was some data corruption somehow. Turned out it was just a sadist at Apple improving the program.
Here's an example. When I arrange my library in song view, I scroll all the way down to the bottom where these mystery files are. There is a bunch of them that have the album name "JS Bach Transcriptions". But there is no album or playlist in my library with that name! When I click on one of them, it will play some organ music that is vaguely familiar, but not immediately placeable by me. It sounds familiar, but what album or playlist it goes with I have no idea. All of the boxes in the rightmost column are all checked. I know from a painful experiment that if I just hit delete on these mystery tracks, something somewhere in the playlists will also be disappeared and I have no idea what it will be. I found this out from working with a small playlist of five tracks. Each of these for some reason had a duplicate which shows up with the other mystery tracks at the bottom of the song list. They are at least identifiable. If I hit delete in the song list and then go back to the playlist view, the entire playlist of five songs has been wiped out. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it is so irritating. In the prefs window advanced tab, I have the "keep itunes media folder organized" unchecked. I don't know what checking that box would do. Maybe it''s important. If anybody knows about this, I'd like to know. I'd also really really like to know how to turn off the u next for good. Man I hate that thing.

  • Problems with importing songs in iTunes

    Hi there
I have deleted my entire iTunes-library. Now, I want to import the songs again. I chose File -> Add folder to library... -> iTunes music (I have all my music in this folder).
The problem is that not everything gets imported, about 30% is missing in the library. I think those songs are missing which are in a second underfolder in the iTunes music. E.g. ...\iTunes music\Band A\Album B\Song C with e.g. ...\iTunes music\Album A\Song B it works.
And even if I want to import those folders manually, it doesn't work (even if it loads).
Does anybody know, what the reason for this is?
    Thank you in advance!
    Kind regards
    Dominic

  • Problems with Send Podcast to iTunes.

    Hello.
I want to send the podcast I created in GarageBand to my iTunes Library. But when I go to Share, the only option I have is Send Podcast to iWeb. I do not want to do this.
I want to be able to send my Podcast to my iTunes library without having to Export it as a Song to Disk.
    Is it possible?

    Anybody?
...was this just a stupid question?

    Hello susanserio
Try Deauthorize your account and then Authorize the account to see if any changes occur. Also there may a resolution in the second article that can be helpful as well.

  • GarageBand not "Sending song to iTunes"

Whenever I press "Send song to iTunes," it mixes and converts, and then iTunes opens...with no song. Why is this happening, and how can I fix this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

How many characters has your song´s name? GB has a problem with long names.

  • Need Send Song To iTunes Help

When selecting to send my songs to iTunes via the GB toolbar, the transferred sound file results in a +11.4db recording despite the original file created in GB being recorded at an average level of 0db. All my tracks sound fine when played via GB, but overmodulate in iTunes. I've also attempted transferring the original files to iTunes via Audio Hijack with the same distorted results. Is there a master volume output or something that I'm overlooking? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    hi there,
I'm having a similar problem with the dustiryion in iTunes. In GarageBand the sing sounds fine, but once exported to iTunes, there is crackling in the headphones, often surrounding the bass sound. I've tried as much effects changing and filtering, and nothing seems to work.
Can anyone answer this? Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Share/Send Song to iTunes no longer imports song to iTunes

Background: For a year now, i've used GB (3.0.5) to rip my vinyl, adjust tracks, etc and import tracks into iTunes (8.0.2). Never had a problem. Click Share/Send Song to iTunes, mix down starts, iTunes pops up and starts playing the new track~ Until...
Recently: i got a new external HD for xmas and this week i moved my iTunes Library over to it to make some room. Well, after finally getting rid of all my !-marks and finding my album artwork again- iTunes is running fine.
Now: 10 hours ago I ripped a new record in GB, split my tracks, etc and went to Share/Send Song to iTunes. Mix down starts, iTunes popped up but doesn't start playing the track!!!!!
I've been around the world trying to set a Preference here, update a Library there, googled every combination of this tale i could think of, searched the Support threads, and Nuthin.
This may be an iTunes problem. I may have messed up my Library. Will totally understand if i need to take my question to the iTunes section.
Just wondering how i can tell GB where to export the song so that it goes to my current iTunes library> Please Help!?

Solved My Own Problem: Garageband doesn't like it when you use ',/,() ,or "&" in the drive or folder names. Sorry, i thought this was resolved back in 1995.
    Thanks for looking here.

  • Can't send song to itunes

    SEND SONG TO ITUNES,
    SEND PODCAST TO IWEB and
SEND MOVIE TO IDVD menu items are shaded and i cannot use
    the functions.
I was able to do so last week but all of a sudden they are
    shaded?

The only way I can think of to replicate that is that there is some combination of MUTE and/or SOLO buttons enabled such that there is nothing to actually export.
Make sure NO track is muted or soloed. If this isn't the problem I'm not sure what else to suggest. %-(>

  • Cannot get movie track(karaoke) to go to iTunes  Does not give me Send movie to iTunes, only send song to itunes

In new Garageband I cannot transfer a karaoke track with my vocals to itunes.  SHARE will not give me the Send Movie to Itunes only send song to itunes.  I have show movie selected.

In GarageBand 10.0 the export of soundtracks is different from the previous versions. You need two steps:
First write the soundtrack to the video file with "File > Movie > Export Audio to Movie File"
Then import the video from the Finder to iTunes.
