Problems with shortcuts appearing in trash

The problem I'm experiencing is that when I download anything I hear the trash can noise and it changes to full. When I open the trash can I notice that there are shortcut copies of Macintosh HD & Network. This also happens whenever I move something even just moving a desktop icon. Does anyone know what may be causing this. I've scanned for viruses - none found/ I ran System Optemizer X - didn't fix it.

maybe you are using the incorrect file/path separator. Check SAP Note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1266211">1266211[</a> on how to get the correct separator.

I-tunes installed and works with no problem in original user, but when another user account attempts to open Itunes, program attempts to install/configure again, then results in a "problem with shortcut / fatal error during installation" message. Setting the other users to administrators doesn't help, nor does un-installing/re-installing, etc. I am at least the 4th person with this problem (see Burthomp earlier today,Jan. 17 and Richard 1018 on Dec. 29). This problem started with Itunes 7.5, and is still a problem on Itunes 7.6. I have a standard Dell setup, Model E510. There must be a lot of people with this problem. Apple, are you working on this? Anyone else have a suggestion?

I ran into the same problem, but I think I have the solution. First, the problem isn't with iTunes, its an access problem with Windows XP. I tried to run the iTunes program from the Program Files, and I received an "Access Denied" error.
If you try to open the Program Files in My Computer\Local Disk(C:) and receive an "Access Denied" Error, that is why you are receiving a "shortcut problem/Fatal Error during installation".
Here is how I corrected it:
1) Shut down the computer and restart it in "safe mode". I had to look up how to do this, but I pressed F8 when it was restarting and I highlighted the "safe mode" and started the machine. The icons will be large, but ignore it.
2) Open a user that has administrative access -- I used the one user that has access to itunes.
3) Go to My Computer\Local Disk (C:) and right click on the "Program Files" folder. Select "properties" at the bottom.
4) Go to the Security Tab
5) At the top you should see one or two users that have access to the Programs File. One will be the user that itunes works on. Click Add, then click Advanced, then click Find Now.
6) At the bottom should appear a list of users. Select a user on which itunes doesn't work. Click Ok, then click OK again.
7) Give that user full access to the Program File by putting a check mark in the Full Access box.
8) Repeat for the remaining users.
9) Restart computer in normal mode.
10) Go into a user that had problems and click the itunes icon, and it should run.
It worked for me, I hope it works for you.

"Dialog box "PROBLEM WITH SHORTCUT"

When my T40 p starts up I keep getting the following message, over and over again until I close the system tray IBM Connect bar.
"Dialog box “PROBLEM WITH SHORTCUT”
The drive or network connection that the shortcut IBM Access Support.lnk refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disc is properly inserted to the network resource is available, and then try again. "

You'll need to find your iTunes folder. It's usually located on your main hard disk under My Documents/My Music/iTunes. Copy this whole folder to another hard drive (if possible) or burn it on a CD (probably will take more than one--depending upon how large your library is) or DVD. Once you have a good backup of your library, try downloading and reinstalling iTunes.

Constant "Problem with Shortcut" Every Time iTunes updates

Sorry to vent, but this really bugs me.
Ok, this can't be hard to fix and isn't hard for ME to fix when I update iTunes, but this is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY annoying.
Here's the issue. Every time iTunes updates itself, it invalidates every Shortcut for the executable. I get "Problem with Shortcut" Windows Window and which says "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
This happens EVERYTIME iTunes updates itself, which seems very often.
It is really, really annoying. And it ONLY happens with iTunes (no other software - for example Firefox doesn't do this), which says to me that Apple can't be bothered to make sure that the path to their new executable is the same as the old when they do the update. Actually, now that I look at it, it looks like it is somehow deleting the path in the existing shortcuts when it updates, which sounds like a bug.
Any decent usability testing would find this and quickly fix this, but this happens on EVERY windows computer I have EVERY time iTunes updates itself, and it has been there for at least the last 5 upgrades, so I know it is not a 1 off thing only I am seeing.
Please, please, please fix this in your next patch.

Apple apps are the only ones I've ever seen on Windows to do this. I don't even understand how/why it happens - does it take the time to find all the shortcuts (which are separate files it would have to search your HD for) and deliberately break their paths?! If Apple are going to make windows applications, it'd be nice if they swallowed their pride and learnt the windows platform and its norms. 99.999% of other software vendors have figured out how to make shortcuts that work...
The worst thing about this is that the error message (admittedly, I think it's a windows message) gives the impression you have to reinstall iTunes! A quick Google search shows that a fair few people think that's the solution.
*If you're getting this problem: there's no need to uninstall or reinstall iTunes!* the problem is with the shortcut only, not the program. To fix it, find a working shortcut to iTunes (as mentioned above, there's normally a fresh one in your start menu somewhere) and drag it wherever you need it, then delete the old one. If you can't find a working one, browse to "program files"->"itunes" on your hard drive, select itunes.exe, go to File->Create Shortcut. A new shortcut will be made in that folder, that you can put wherever you like.

This bug figures out also when creating a custom spark ComboBox, then trying to programatically update the userProposedSelectedIndex property. The proposed selected index is selected, but does not apply the same skin as when mouse is on rollover or item is selected due to up and down keys.
The issue seems like updating the status of the item renderer to rollover or selected to get the same skin applied.

Problem with shortcut....fatal error

itune 8.1.1 upgrade froze on installation. Now I get the above message when trying to reinstall/config itunes or any new program. Have tried restore etc but no luck. Any ideas.

I have a problem with word. I trashed it yesterday by mistake. So I downloaded once again the office software 2011 package but it still doesn't work. Everytime I try to open a document it says "error" and the office package appears twice on my taskbar

Java 3D a problem with switching appearances

I'm writing an application which allows to change primitive objects' ( sphere, box and cone- objects are changed with JComboBox) properties via user interface. It has a few panels each for different attributes group ( on the basis of Appearance class ). There is one main appearance which attributes are adjusted in the user interface, there are also three default appearances, one for each object. When I want to change the appearance of some object I just apply the main appearance to the desired object and change the values of attributes. And there's my problem. When I switch between the objects the main appearance is applied to each of them and so are the changes made after the switching. I tried to fix it in some ways.
1. I tried going back to the default appearance after changing another object. For instance.. I chose sphere and operated on it.. then I switch to cone so I change sphere appearance back to its default and apply the main appearance to cone. But it obviously didn't work as I want to keep changes made on every object ( here: sphere).
2. I tried to put the values of main appearance in the default sphere's appearance:
sphereAppearance = mainAppearance;
sphere.setAppearance(sphereAppearance); // previously the mainAppearance was set
But it also didn't work. The changes are made on every choosen object.
3. I also tried to apply attributes of the main appearance to the default appearance of the object:
boxAppearance.setPointAttributes(mainAppearance.getPointAttributes());
boxAppearance.setLineAttributes(mainAppearance.getLineAttributes());
But it turned out that getPointAttributes() and getLineAttributes() and so on return the object of current Point, Line..... Attributes object which were defined:
PointAttributes pointAttributes = new PointAttributes();
LineAttributes lineAttributes = new LineAttributes();
and attached to te mainAppearance:
mainAppearance.setLineAttributes(lineAttributes);
mainAppearance.setPointAttributes(pointAttributes);
So it also ended in changes being made on every choosen object (and i wanted to change only one ).
If you have any idea how to make a copy of mainAppearance that won't be affected by changes made on
mainAppearance please help me ;)

Problem1:
This is a PR approval scenario. Whenever a PR is released at a particular level, the next level approver will be intimated via email to release from his side. The email contains the attachment u201CExecute Work Item.SAPu201D. When I click the attachment I get the following messages before getting the logon dialog box.
Screen 1:
Not all data for SAP GUI shortcut is available.
System description and GUI start parameter are unknown.
Enter the missing data.
After giving OK.
Screen 2:

Problem2:
The program RSWUWFML2 which is scheduled to run at background every minute sends the same email every one minute to outlook.
But when I run the program manually, it sends the email only once. And when I execute it again immediately after receiving the email, it says u201C0 work items were read. None were sentu201D .
Please help me on what to do to get the logon dialog box once the shortcut is double clicked from email.

Problem 1)
In a previous question about this in SDN, someone (sorry, can't remember who) answered:
"Have you or the user logged into the SAP GUI before? If not, have them login in. Our problems occured
with new users that never logged into the SAP gui and so the user profile was never loaded with the ini
file."
Please try that.
Problem 2)
Are you sure it's running with the same variant in the background?
What if you try every 5 minutes instead - maybe a minute is too short and it gets mixed up.
You could also try copying RSWUWFML2 to ZRSWUWFML2, inserting an infinite loop and then attaching to it in order to debug it in the background.

Problems with shortcuts

Strange thing happening to the shortcuts that appers in the menus.
Instead of showing the actual shortcut, it displays a question mark instead of the key.
Example: for saving, which should be "CTRL + [S]", it appears as "CTRL + [?]".
It looks like this:
I tried to delete my .KYS file, tried to uninstall then reinstall Ppro, the problem is still there.
Do you have any idea what the problem might be?

To be honest I have never tried.
I suspect that this issue is one for Adobe Tech Support. Your system is doing something I have never seen before. Please do report back your findings so that it can be documented.
One thought is to temporarily change a shortcut mapping in the keyboard customization window and see if that fixes all of them.

Problems with shortcuts on 5800 homescreen

I've had my 5800 xm for a few weeks now and initially it was great. As soon as I got my phone I updated the firmware to v 21.0.025. About a week ago or so the 4 shortcuts simply disappeared. When I touch the space where the shortcuts should be I see a blue highlight as if I am opening an app but nothing happens. This is annoying but I can still access these apps by going through the main menu. Two days ago the same problem arose with the contacts and the dialler. I can, however, see both icons for these but when I touch them they highlight blue but do not open. Again, I'm not too bothered about the contacts because I can access them through the main menu but I cannot open the dialler. This means that the only way for me to call a new number is to save it first as a contact. I have re-installed the same version of firmware and this has made no difference.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Does anyone have any advice or know how to fix this?

You could try a hard reset, but you should back up your data with Content Copier within PC suite first!
By pressing "Green", "Red" and "Camera" button at once during power up of the phone, you´ll perform a hard reset of the phone which will erase all the data.
Note: This´ll only work on version V20...and up.

Does problem with shortcut announce a bigger issue?

I posted this question in another forum as well, but maybe the answer is awaiting here.
I added shortcut (in the System Preferences, Keyboard & mouse) for saving the highlighted part of text in Safari in a new textedit window. One of our forum fellows helped me out with this, and it worked well for few days, but all of a sudden just stopped working. I added a ShiftAppleZ, and now when I press it, it just gives me the warning sound. The new shorcut previously appeared in the System Preferences shortcuts list, but now it is gone.
It is not so much that I cannot live without the shortcut, but my question is more why did it happen and does it mean something is corrupt in my system?

Problems with screen, keyboard and trash when logging in?

Hey. When I restart or turn on my mac the login screen pops up, as per normal, but for some reason the screen is really dim, like only 4 squares dim, and so is the keyboard. I thought it was the ambient light sensor because I'm usually in a well lit room but I tried it in a dim room and the same thing happened. When I log into my account, it doesn't change and I have to push the the F2 and F6 keys so the screen and keyboard is at max. What do I do to stop this from happening? Also, the trash always has this folder called "recovered files" in it. Where does it come from? And how do I stop it from appearing? Thanks in advance!

For backlight functions not working correctly try an SMC reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964), read the instructions through carefully before attempting.
As for Recovered files:
One or more Recovered Files folder may appear in your Trash after restarting your computer. The recovered files are temporary files used by Mac OS X applications. Usually temporary files are deleted by an application when it no longer needs them. If an application quits unexpectedly, the temporary files may not get deleted by the application. When you restart your computer, Mac OS X moves these temporary files to the Trash.
You can retrieve useful files by dragging them out of the Trash. In most cases, however, the temporary files are not important and it is safe to empty your Trash. Check with the manufacturer of the application if you are not sure.

Problem with Window appearance

I have builted my application in windows 7. I maded some front panel decorations also with help of rectangular boxs
its running correctly in windows 7 . But when i runned the same builted application in windows ( Xp 2 ) the front panel
objects like rectangular boxes are getting left shifted .
What might be the problem

I only see one picture, so I don't see a "before" and "after" pair to see the difference. Are you talking about a font issue? The fonts between Windows 7 and XP are different. This is a known issue (search the forum and you will see this issue with fonts has been asked many times), and it's an operating system issue, not a LabVIEW issue.If you use "Application Font" or "System Font", the text will look different between the two operating system. Select a font by name explicitly on a user interface panel.
If it's not a font issue, have you checked that the DPI settings are the same between the two computers? Sometimes people change the DPI settings to make things bigger on the screen.
